Spoopy and exciting! Sometimes the end games feel impossible but it feels so satisfying to finally complete a level. One of the only games right now that actually makes me jump in panic and excitement!!
game jelek, nyusahin player, burung burung jembud ni harus diilangin
Solid game with plenty of fun with friends, been playing it since release just wish they release new maps faster and add new game mechanics. 9.5/10
Not the best game ever, but it's fun with some friends and not expensive. We all bought the game when it was on sale and it is recommended.
The game is not for people with weak hearts. It has a lot of demons and crazy stuff.
So... while I did enjoy this game for a while, I did find some of the problems with it force me to not recommend it.
A lot of the theme of the game is great, liked the things you had to do to win on each stage and the jumpscares.
However, the main problem we noticed, read about is that eventually the main monster on each stage can't be stopped, it will get you, making the only real tactic to have a chance of winning is that someone MUST sacrifice themselves to give the others time, and this is the only option if you will have any hope of winning.
I really wanted to like this game, but after realizing I was mostly mad while suffering the mechanic of the monster, just made it sour...
Its an okay game, fair for the price. It is a little bit buggy, and the mechanics get old fast, each level is basically the same thing with different skins. I have also run into a few bugs here and there forcing me to restart. Also, this game is not fun if you aren't playing with others, it has an online feature but I haven't seen many people use it. I recommend parties of a minimum of 3, with 2 if one dies its very hard to beat, 3 seems like a good balance. Its a good game, but if you want something you can play forever maybe do something else.
Poorly designed, requires four players to progress, and the guides on playing better require glitches or perks you grind for. Skip with prejudice.
Started a few days ago because a friend told me it was fun and she was right. Everyone I've played with so far is nice as well and many good players with great strats!
best horror game there is out there, only game i play now, jump scares are amazing
Quite a fun horror game and expect alot of jump scares..lol if they make it any scarier, they may have to change the rating!
very good game and suitable for children to play. Just a simple lovely game
One of the best games I've ever played, it's hard to beat but fun to play
if im being completely honest, the game was fun, it just got a tad boring quite fast, but definitely an experience to have
Great game but not many updates. When the monsters start chasing me i shit my pants.
apprently I have 1.6 hours on this game, I dont remember playing it so I can't give an honest opinion but I'm a nice guy so I will recommend it to yall
it such a good game needs more maps like the easter bunny or something also usa south central severs are down pls fix
Well its fun with friends but after some time it gets boring to quickly for a coop game. The mansion map is the most boring map i've ever played in a game.
This game is fun with friends alone, not so much.
It has a lot of maps and enemies, and probably more maps coming soon.
At least I’m happy the developers are still working on it.
I’d definitely recommend playing it with friends.
Also… the goat girl is kinda hot. Is she still single? :3
this game is okay, good atmosphere and gameplay. the problem is thew fake difficulty they add later in the round. no way of hiding, the demon is too fast, can't stun, can't calm her down, etc. its more annoying than anything
the jumpscares kind of scare me pretty well even though i play this tons of time, this game is amazing for me and i would recommend it to someone whos looking for a game to kill your time. but the map choices in this game are not a lot so its kind of boring but i think its a good game just to kill time and play with your friends.
Well I downloaded this game last week and so far one of the best horror multiplayer game and it’s pretty enjoyable it has dif maps and modes but the thing which pisses me off is servers you can’t even find single lobby in Europe server ya USA etc expect Asia and when you join any group in Asia they just kick you and it’s filled with Chinese people and it’s really hard to communicate with them since most of them don’t really speak English but although it’s pretty good game it’s you got friends and i know this game ain’t that famous but im looking forward to see this game on console..
OK, where do I start?
Here's the TL;DR: the game design essentially encourages you to set things up in advance before you really start playing the game. This is both very time consuming and tedious, ultimately making it a not very fun experience (and often very frustrating).
For me to properly critique this game, it's important that I add some context and explain how the game works. The general process it's like this: you start a level (say, the farmhouse), and it's vacant. Nothing really happening, and no monsters around. You're (more or less) free to explore the map unhindered. The goal of the map (all maps) is to complete a ritual 10 times. On a side note, I'll use the Farmhouse as an example. There are variations between maps, but as an general process, it's consistent among all maps.
Ritual
Each level has a slightly different ritual process, but it generally involves collecting an item or animal, and sacrificing it, meaning you have to get the animal/item, take it to the altar, get a gas can and use that to set the goat on fire. There is more to it, though. Many animals are locked away somewhere, meaning you have to go around finding keys. But that's not all. To get the animals, you can't just pick them up, you have to lure them with hay, meaning you have to find hay, find the goat, lure the goat and take it to the sacrificial altar and set it on fire (which requires finding gas cans).
So, basically, find key, find hay, find gas, take gas to altar, go back, unlock door, use hay to get goat, get goat, run back to altar and sacrifice it. Lather rinse repeat. As you advance (perform more rituals), the map gets more difficult with more (and more aggressive) enemies. Now let's talk about that.
Enemies
There are basically two enemies: Azazel (in a possessed body) and the minions. The minions can down you in 3-4 hits, while an enraged Azazel can insta-down you if she catches you (there is an exception, but since i'm talking overview let's go with that). In the beginning there are few minions and Azazel is mostly calm, so you're free to explore w/out worrying about much. Once Azazel enrages (after a few minutes), she runs around like a florida woman on bath salts. She's very fast and it'll be hard to outrun her. You can, however, stun her. In the beginning, she pacifies after one stun, so easy enough. As the rituals progress, she gets angrier more often (less cooldown time) and takes more stuns to pacify her, each time gaining temporary immunity to the UV light. Meaning once you stun her, RUN. After 7 or 8 rituals, she's more or less constantly enraged running around. At 9, i believe, she can't be pacified, but don't take my word for it.
So, now let's go back to the game.
There are two main strategies you can implement in this game. First, you do everything sequentially. You find the gas can and goat, you take themto the altar, then set the goat on fire. Repeat for goats 2-10. The second option is to pre-gather everything and set them in convenient places so that when you need them, it's right there. For example, you gather 10 gas cans and take them to the altar. Gather the hay and place them by the doors, gather the keys and unlock doors to find more keys and/or goats. Grab the goats and place them in a secure room (so you know where they are when the time comes).
Noe the fundamental problem with the game:
Given the level of difficulty after a few rituals, it renders the first strategy essentially useless (for me, anyway). In other words, you pretty much have to implement the second strategy, meaning you have to spend time to essentially what amounts to prepare to play the game - and this takes TIME. I'm talking about maybe 30 minutes. Maybe more. On a side note, I'm playing with one friend (having 4 players dramatically reduces this, but since we're in 2 players that's what I have to go by). 30 minutes, going around the map, looking for keys, trying to carry things to its place, setting everything up, and once that's all done, start performing the rituals. Once the game really starts, after one ritual, it's pretty quick paced. If you're lucky (and skilled) enough, you can perform the 10 rituals in a few minutes and you're done. If you're less lucky, you'll die after a few minutes which means you have to start the process ALL OVER AGAIN. Spending 30 minutes, gathering the items, setting them up, finding keys etc. This makes for an inherently very frustrating experience: spending 30 minutes to actually play a few minutes is just not good game design. If you spend 30 minutes trying to think of different strategies and setting things up depending on your opponent (like, say, in Command and Conquer or Mechabellum), then fine. It means you're spending 30 min thinking, coming up with ideas, and if that doesn't work try something different later. In Devour, there isn't much strategy beyond "where can I place things to optimize my run", and even that becomes obvious after a couple of runs. In other words, it's 30 minutes of mindless tedium to play the actual game for 10. That's just not good game design.
If you're looking for a co-op survival horror, go play REPO or Lethal Company instead. They are much more fun, varied and just allow for shennanigans among players. Or outlast trials if you want something more "serious".
End of rant.
It's a nice horror game with different interesting maps
ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO WIN THIS GAME TOO MANY THINGS HAPPENING AT THE SAME TIME AND THE UV LIGHT IS SO S***. ADD SO MANY THINGS THAT CAN KILL US FOR WHAT? PLAY GAMES TO RELIEVE STRESS BUT END UP THIS GAME IS GIVING ME STRESS. PLAY THIS GAME FOR 13 HOURS ALREADY END UP GIVING ME 1 RITUAL TOKEN ONLY?? WHY SO STINGY
Genuinely scary and fun horror game, its gameplay is rather simple, gather the ten items to complete the ritual. The maps, sound design, map design, and general gameplay loop is really fun and engaging. My only gripe is that I wish there is better balancing for lower player-count lobbies or for playing solo because it can be quite difficult, making it feels necessary to have more people. Otherwise a great horror experience, that even when the novelty of horror diminishes slightly, the stress of completing it even at different stages of difficulties or moments that occur still keeps it tense, especially with friends.
Amazing horror game especially the inn, if you are scared of spiders 9/10 :D
fun with friends but gets repetitive and boring very quickly
Simple, nothing crazy, not very hard mechanics, decent graphics, and it is one game that I enjoy a lot playing with my friends. It gets to a point that you really dont get scared anymore by the screamers but you get stressed and focused trying to achieve the rituals on time before the demon knocks down all of ur teammates.
Empty lobbies feel campy. The game itself is a catch and sacrifice baby goats arcade. One day I hope I will have enough teammates to try other maps besides the farm.
Gameplay loop is mid. If you like running around like a headless chicken just play Dead by Daylight. Plus, the jumpscare is absurdly loud and you either turn the entire game down in your system settings or you disable it. Devs say no jumpscare volume slider is intentional. What is the point of forcing this weird dichotomy of earrape jumpscare or no jumpscare at all? If you're gonna let me disable it, what's the issue with letting me lower its volume?. Your jumpscare being absurdly loud doesn't add anything to your game, and if anything it's the cop-out type of horror.
Alright, Devour—it’s a fun one, but let’s be real, it's not the easiest game to complete, especially when you're playing with a full squad of four on medium difficulty. Honestly, we spent more time screaming at each other and trying to get the ritual done than actually succeeding. It’s tough. Like, really tough. Every time we thought we were making progress, we'd get wiped out by the demon, and boom—back to square one. If you're into losing over and over again while your friends absolutely lose their minds, this is your game.
Now, the jump scares are there, but they’re a little limited. You won’t be constantly on edge like in some other horror games. That said, the overall tension and atmosphere still keep you nervous enough to jump every time you hear something creepy. It’s not the scariest game in terms of sheer jump scares, but it’s more about the constant dread of being hunted by something you can’t stop.
That said, Devour is still a blast to play with friends. The chaos, the teamwork (or lack of it), and the sheer frustration of trying to complete the ritual together is hilarious in its own way. If you can get past the difficulty and occasional lack of scares, it’s a fun horror game to dive into with your crew.
So, if you’re looking for a game to play with friends that’s got a creepy vibe and a decent challenge (but not constant jumpscares), Devour is worth a shot. And hey, if you’re into watching chaos unfold, follow me on all platforms for more ridiculous moments of trying to survive, failing, and trolling my friends. You won’t regret it... probably.
A very fun game with friends, have yet to finish a level but the premise is fun, skins are cool and each map feels interesting.
To sum it up you play as some cult members and you have to exorcise a powerful demon who can take on multiple forms depending on the lvl, all you have is UV to slow her down and her minions and your goal is simple, navigate a claustrophobic environment and sacrifice 10 of each animal for Farmhouse it's Goats and for say the ward it's Rats, as you do she'll get faster and become more immune to your UV and it can lead to some moments where you scream into the mic which makes for some funny moments in voice chat.
As you lvl up and complete lvls you earn XP which can be used to make you more powerful like, run faster, hold more items and eventually try harder difficulties and like the old days completing achievements earns you a new character, skills and outfits which is super cool, despite not winning yet I dropped the extra $5 on the supporter pack which comes with some nice goodies like custom flashlights and some outfits and wallpapers.
And nice to see more QOL features coming soon too like some free demon outfits and better UI, at 40% off rn why not treat yourself and some friends to a copy. Keep it up devs. it's also worth mentioning that this game is challenging by default even easy is still tough but it's not darksouls and you will eventually win with perks to help
Stressful as hell, but also very fun and goofy. Definitely a good time with friends.
DEVOUR feels like the devs just tried to cash in using low-quality assets, bad animations, and outdated mechanics. The gameplay is clunky and repetitive, and it doesn't offer much in terms of innovation or excitement. It's a shame because the concept has potential, but the execution really missed the mark.
Fix the damn sacrificial animals PLEASE. there's a bug where if you take the animal when there are multiple of them eating the same food there's a chance they just bugged out of the existence. You can't find them, you can't do complete the map after that. Happened 3x in a row and now it just pisses me off.
More scary than Content Warning, Phasmophobia and honestly its kind of tied with Forewarned. its close. this is a great game to buy for the price. pro tip - dont play it alone or if you live alone
It's a nice horror game with different interesting maps, lots of achievements to do and replayabilty is good too!
In co-op it's even better so gather your buddies and have fun with this!
good game but not without multiplayer
This game is actually really hard. Me and my other 2 friends can't complete the new maps at all. Maybe implementing hiding spots, instead of the entity just always able to find you constantly that would be a significant change. I don't really recommend it as of right now, but if they do make it easier than yes.
I really enjoy this game. It has simple mechanics yet provides tons of fun. Def better with friends but easily playable solo.
You can't really get enough surprise elements and unpredictability out of an AI based game but from all the ones on the market so far, I've enjoyed this the most alone and with friends.
Great Value and Fun. Developers continue to deliver updates too
good scary game with friends and with a dev team who implements solid updates every year
Very fun game and can genuinely surprise you with the horror (admittedly it doesn't last long but it's good for a few run backs). Ideally you want a group of 3-4 players as it makes it a bit easier but the game is definitely doable with 1-2 players, done most of the maps that way on nightmare/hard.
good game but the possessed ai is pretty bad like in town theres a box you can jump on and it cant get to you. other than basic small problems its a gooid game
The overall experience is quite good. The main point of the game is to collect different objects to banish the ghost/demon that roams the map. For the most part it's a fun experience playing with at least three people. For new players the tasks may seem almost impossible to complete, though that feeling goes away pretty quickly when you discover how the Ai of the Enemies work. In 17 hours (at the point of writing this review) me and my friends have mastered Farmhouse (first map) as a whole and did it even on harder difficulties. The Hardest map (slaughterhouse) is for the most part not fun to play. There is just so much you can do with the Ai/Gameplay until you make the experience annoying.
The only downside is that the devs aren't bringing as much content out. There is potential behind the core idea of the game, but new updates don't build on that idea. The newsest map featured a wedding themed mansion and a dimension you could travel between. But the core gameplay remains (search item-put item in spot-ghost get's angry-repeat until ghost is banished). It's just tiring. And they itroduced an even more annoying way to collect the items which I woun't get into here. The only part of the game which makes it sort of replayable is the perk system (although not perfect). The perk system just makes most of the iteractions easier. And for casual players the only way to beat harder difficulties is using perks, there is no way around them.
It's genuinely scary and the atmosphere is AWESOME but you need all four players to stand a real chance in most of these missions and not a lot of people actually play this game at once so i've noticed
I have played this game as a trio and a squad. I do not recommend this game for solos and duos. At least on normal difficulty it will be nearly impossible to beat this game as a solo or duo. This game is balanced for four players. I had it in my library for a long time, First when I got this game, I didn't think it was any good when I first got it, but it has been actually a really fun co-op. The game can get quite intense especially if you play as a trio.
