They're always updating, always working consistently on the game, for all the levels available and it's rewarding to play with friends online. Weirdly my de-stress game of choice.
fun with friends simple concept but fun and scary until youre too good
7/10 Best pacify alternative. Requires extreme teamwork and coordination to pull each map off, especially on the harder settings. Each map has unique monsters based on the characters along with some pretty simple storytelling. It's worth the 10 bucks considering a new map gets added every couple months that keeps you busy with planning on how you're going to beat it.
Very disappointed in the horror aspect, especially considering the raving reviews. Bought it for VR, and ended up refunding it. Gameplay was repetitive, there was no "counter" to some enemies, and it was just a finnicky mess. Bummer.
This review is targeted towards randoms that plan on trying to use matchmaking/server browser. Waste of money, game is dead. Only 20-30 players during peak hours and ALL the lobbies are always set to private. Lobbies are set to private by default which seems counter productive to building a community.
Seems like a fun game outside of the gated community
not even 1 hour into the game i already find bugs that make the game unplayable
Amazing game. Big maps. Takes a lot of time to complete one mission.
Me and my friends shat ourselves.
devour....i need new pants -sprinting from demon goats and anna like my life depended on it (it did). i screamed so loud my family moved out. ill never forgive my friend for convincing me to play. if youre looking for a game that makes you regret every life desicion, this is the one but,10/10,would scream and cry again after therapy.
i am sleeping with the lights on for the next decade
never trusting goats or my friend again
masterpiece. if you got this game back when it was $2.99 absolutely worth every penny. even at the raised price of $9.99 I would still say this is worth it especially with the continuous release of new content. you can tell the devs really care about their game.
Devour is considered one of the scariest games on Steam that I have ever experienced. To begin with, my friend Gotzibara suggested I buy this game, claiming it would give me nightmares. From my first experience, I found the demon absolutely horrifying, and the gameplay incredibly challenging to beat. However, I had a great time and enjoyed every moment I played.
Additionally, I must commend the game for its brilliant graphics. What I really love about Devour is the story behind each demon and how it all connects seamlessly.
Overall Score: 9.5/10 (You should buy this game :3)
Good playing solo, Great playing with friends. It's one of the best co-op horror games ever.
Hilariously screaming at night playing this game waking up the entire family.
Fun game to play with friends but get repetitive once you play it too much.
Honestly, overall it's a good game. It reminds me so much of dead by daylight except the killer is controlled by ai. The community so far has been great. Graphics might need to be a bit better and maps should be added more, this game has so much potential and i can definitely see it succeeding more in the future if they add more maps. Its worth the purchases nonetheless
the best multiplayer horror game
You may become sterile from the intensity of fear and adrenaline that strikes you while playing this game.
Great game fun and challenging the only problem is this is really the case when you have friends. without its borderline impossible solo on some maps
Best friend loved this game, played it with him a couple of times. Haven't Really played without him.
Rest easy, brother. We'll continue in the next life
played for content for friends channel is good but the old town map on easy is still hard with 3 just because of the ghosts stealing the books but was alot of fun and its got a good story behind it
Honnêtement surcoté par rapport aux commentaires, je l'ai trouvé ennuyeux.
The game is good for a solo player. But the multiplayer is where it really thrives. Me and my friends had so much fun. The shenanigans and the stories we could tell from this game. Each level has different items and challenges.
this game is criminally underrated, a must to play game. Highly recommended everyone must try this gorgeous game with their friends.
amazing game 10/10 never had this much fun in a game with friends 10/10
This game is well designed an super fun to play with friends. I really like the differences in the levels, although the game itself stays the same, the different levels add a cool refreshing touch. The recent Manor update is really fun and crazy.
This game is sadly too hard to enjoy in solo and requires a permanent team to play.
Solo is not recommended and only a team would be okay. Even with a team it is seriously hard but can be fun. The maps are great and creepy with side things to do and cosmetics to unlock which is +++ points.
There are decent jump scares but overall too hard and tedious to complete each match.
If you are into the ghost hunting genre of games then this is worth a try but be warned it is really tough and can get frustrating.
Really cheap and expansive multiplayer game. I love all the different themes each level has and the AI is terrifying. This is also one of smoothest VR horror experiences I've ever had. Super fun and hilarious with a group of friends.

Gameplay similar to the game next door, but coupled with a variety of interesting features that make this game so fun to play, especially if you have a lot of burden on your mind, playing this game will add to your mind so that the previous burden of thought will be overwritten LoL. Anyway Great games
~We finished this game on december 11, 2024, see you in the next horror game or new update
Good game but needs better perks. Some of the nightmare maps feel impossible
Such a good game to play with galaxy gas. Also kinda reminds me of 00 older brother core, Schizoillbfcore and other radiohead references.
FUN game to play with friends but its really hard!
I think is one of the best co-op horror game :)))) Its very funny with another people :D
This game is shit.
You litreally cant do anything fun, EVERY map and run is all about the same, you collect 10 whatever items and crazy bitch is chasing you with random addons spawning and you just instantly kill them with uv.
monotony is insane, shitty game dont buy it
I love this game. It is so fun, especially with friends. Such a great concept. The ONLY complaint I have is with Sam in The Town. The demon (Sam) is already super fast, but he also has a gun. When he shoots you, not only does he not miss, but it also staggers you, making it easy for him to down you. I hate to be that guy, but it makes The Town almost unplayable. Every other map is *chef's kiss*
Solid game, still scares the shit out of me regardless of what map I play and how many times I play them.
Playing with friends is a must, because getting into a public lobby is almost impossible and having a laugh with your mates makes the game much better.
There's little reason to complain about the game, the only issue I'd have which isn't a drastic issue by any means, is that getting to the higher levels where you get like 7-9/10 sacrifices, you get completely hammered by everything chasing you. If you don't prepare, you're probably not going to win.
But then again, it makes it high stakes and fast paced, and rushing around while demons are chasing you, screaming into a proximity chat is hilarious.
Great multiplayer horror game. I had a lot of fun playing this while trolling my friend.
For those who enjoy seeing your friends running desperate around you, this one is really a must-have! I love that they keep bringing up new maps and mechanics to make it more challenging and fun. It's not gonna be the game of your life and you're probably not spending hundreds of hours on it, but it's still good to gather with your friends from time to time for some vocal chords pushing.
Devour is an intense co-op horror game that keeps you on edge with its eerie atmosphere and relentless gameplay. The teamwork required adds a thrilling dynamic, though it can feel repetitive after a few rounds. A solid choice for horror fans craving adrenaline-filled sessions!
One of the best multiplayer horror games I've played to date. I will admit, when I was first shown the game I thought it wasn't going to be anything amazing.
But don't judge a book by its cover! DEVOUR is such a fun game to play with friends, and the devs are just really chill people. The game's official discord and social media pages are down-to-earth, and the devs are super receptive to criticism and suggestions for changes. The game is truly a labor of love, and I have some of my most cherished memories playing this with my homies. Can't recommend it enough. <3
I love this game since 2022, especially i like to UV every ghost ,well i dont like uv nathan cuz hes too fast but make your strat to your match in these game before the monster runs faster!
Decent game, not scary in the least but a great, hilarious time killer especially when you have friends to play with. Give it a try.
Great game, better with friends! Story and levels are great, difficulty good enough!
I adore this game, I tend to play with friends online and it creates a lot of fun times. It has amazing graphics and interessing diferent worlds you can explore.
Everyone should play this game if you wanna ragequit when you have dumb teammates and no one helps you do anything and you gotta carry them and heal them everytime theyre downed, so yeah cool game if you ask me!
I keep finding myself coming back to this game whenever there's a new map to play and it get even more challenging with new gimmick mechanics to overcome and win the map. I highly recommend this game to those who want to play with their friends or with friendly players from the community.
If I had to guess why this game is called "devour", I would say that it's because it devours your dignity like it's been fasting for weeks. Every time, without a fail, when we start playing, I immediately begin to question all the choices I've ever made. The premise of the game is pretty simple: you have to sacrifice ten animals to banish a demon-like entity (or something along that way). Easy, right? WRONG. Whenever we play this game with my friends we spend 90% of the gameplay deciding who's going to be the first one to enter the house. The remaining 10% is being dedicated to finding our way back outside after we've realised that we are cowards.
Honestly, it's quite difficult to assess how difficult and fun this game really is. Mainly because every time I just wish I could quit the moment I hear the scream of the scary tall lady. Until now, I have not had the pleasure of seeing the ending of the game, but I definitely have experienced many of my own. Also: do not expect for your friends to have your back when playing. When I hear the screams and footseps getting closer, the last thing I worry about are my real life friendships.I don't care how many friends I have to sacrifice, as long as I survive.
Overall rating: no idea/10, but 0/10 for our ability to cope with fear.
super fun but also challenging, recommended for those who love a challenege or who wants to play a spooky game with friends
Frustrating but in the best way possible! It's hard to find good horror games with active devs. If you need a good challenge, this one is for you!
Very spooky! One you should def play with friends and would be better and easier with more than one. It is a fin little game given the price. Overall a fun one for a here and there kind of game play, but not one I would go and play daily.
I no longer wish to help Anna or the rest of the cast. I want to sell my soul to the real devil, the U.S. Military and call in an air strike on the house.
1. Concept and Gameplay: 8/10
Devour is a cooperative first-person horror game where players take on the roles of individuals trying to exorcise an evil entity. The gameplay revolves around cooperation, where players must complete specific objectives while avoiding the demon that relentlessly hunts them. Each session feels different thanks to procedurally generated objectives and the dark, tense atmosphere that accompanies each mission.
The gameplay is intense and stressful, with players having to gather items (like dolls, offerings, occult ingredients, etc.) while being constantly pursued by the creature. The cooperative aspect is crucial, as working together allows players to divide tasks and stay alive longer. Survival elements, such as managing health and light, add an extra layer to the gameplay.
One of Devour's strengths is the importance of communication and coordination. If a player gets separated or makes a mistake, it can lead to the death of everyone else. The horror is amplified by the fact that players cannot defend themselves effectively against the creature, which always seems one step ahead, increasing the tension.
2. Atmosphere and Immersion: 9/10
The atmosphere in Devour is one of its standout features. The environments are dark, claustrophobic, and mysterious, creating constant tension. The various levels, whether it’s an abandoned house or a dark temple, are beautifully designed to amplify the horror and discomfort. The sound design plays a key role in immersion: eerie noises, creaking floors, distant voices, and demonic laughter all contribute to an environment that keeps players on edge.
The creature itself is terrifying and well-designed, and it always feels like it's just around the corner, creating a sense of constant fear. Every encounter with the creature is a shock, but its approach is always gradual, maintaining a tense suspense throughout the game. The use of visual effects like screen distortion, light loss, and environmental changes further increases the discomfort.
3. Multiplayer and Cooperation: 9/10
As a cooperative game, Devour truly shines when played with friends. Cooperation is essential to success, as the objectives are often complex and require the involvement of multiple players to be completed. For example, certain tasks require players to split up to collect items or activate mechanisms, but splitting up also creates vulnerability.
The social aspect of the game is crucial. Communication is key in Devour as players must constantly help each other, warn of dangers, and coordinate actions. The game also introduces a component of "betrayal" where difficult choices have to be made: for example, one player may become the creature's target and must be sacrificed to save the team, or worse, the player might choose to sacrifice themselves for the group. This dynamic of cooperation versus betrayal makes the gameplay even more intense.
4. Replayability and Longevity: 8/10
Devour offers good replayability due to its different levels, objectives, and random mechanics. Each session is different because the objectives change every time, and players must adapt to new situations. Additionally, the encounters with the creature vary, which keeps the gameplay fresh with each playthrough.
However, after several hours, the concept can become a bit repetitive, especially if players are constantly playing on the same maps. While the levels are varied, the objectives tend to follow a similar pattern, and the lack of major progression or changes between sessions can make the experience less captivating in the long run. That being said, the developers regularly add new updates and content, which helps to keep the game engaging over time.
5. Accessibility: 7/10
Devour is fairly accessible in terms of gameplay, but there are some challenges for players who aren’t familiar with horror games or cooperative mechanics. The game requires good communication, space management, and precise timing to succeed, which can be difficult for those not comfortable with these aspects. The learning curve is moderate, but the constant pressure and fear can make the experience challenging, even for experienced players.
The game is not particularly demanding in terms of hardware requirements, making it accessible to a wide audience. However, players who are afraid of horror games or who dislike the constant stress may find Devour to be too overwhelming.
6. Fear and Tension: 9/10
Fear is ever-present in Devour. The game does an excellent job of maintaining constant tension, largely due to the AI of the creature, which always seems to know where the players are. Scary moments are often preceded by warning signs (noises, environmental changes, etc.), which allows players to feel a growing sense of dread before the actual confrontation.
The game also uses psychological horror elements to keep the fear alive: dim lighting, strange sounds, perspective shifts, and the presence of the creature create a constant sense of terror. Cooperation is often tested when one player becomes the target of the creature, and the dynamic of "saving a teammate" or "leaving someone behind" adds an element of social fear.
Conclusion: 8/10
Devour is a highly effective cooperative horror game that successfully combines a tense atmosphere, engaging gameplay mechanics, and strong social elements. It’s perfect for players who enjoy psychological horror and team-based challenges. The tension is maintained throughout the sessions, and cooperation is at the heart of the experience. However, after several hours, the gameplay can feel repetitive, though updates and new content keep things fresh. If you’re looking for a horror game where fear and teamwork are the central focus, Devour is a great choice.
Devour.
its a really fun game and is challenging in some maps and is so funny with friends watchign them get dragged accross the map
