Explore the Universe at All Known Scales
Orders of Magnitude is an immersive educational experience that guides you through the Universe at various scales. Travel along a seamless linear path to explore all known physical sizes, from the cosmic to the subatomic. Explore all that there is, from galaxies and stars to neurons and atomic nuclei. This journey through different scales is based on accurate scientific data, with artistic interpretations used where direct observation isn't possible.
Scientific Accuracy
The content is sourced from reputable scientific databases to ensure accuracy and authenticity. Some of the key resources include:
- Position of nearby 40 000 Galaxies – 2MASS Redshift Survey
- Position of nearby 100 000 Stars – Hipparcos catalogue
- Brain connections – Human Connectome project
- Hippocampus Neural Network – Clarity project
- DNA atom positions – Protein Data Bank
Now Available on PC!
Originally a Virtual Reality (VR) exclusive, Orders of Magnitude now supports a non-VR version for PC. While the VR experience remains the most immersive way to explore the Universe, the PC version is fully functional and offers a rich and detailed journey through space and time.
Experience the Universe Like Never Before
Whether you're exploring the vastness of space in VR or navigating through the cosmos on your PC, Orders of Magnitude offers an unparalleled educational adventure. Dive in and let the wonders of the Universe unfold before your eyes.

i must be missing something or this is not an open world or a sim. you can scroll into an atom and you can scroll out of the universe, with info in between. no other pathways no other knowledge. 5 mins of reading. i have 4 kids that did like this but for about 10 mins each.
My son loves this app.
Decent graphics and music.
Recommended to people loving size comparisons, in common or as special interest.
One of my favorite VR experiences. It's one thing to imagine the universe at different scales and another entirely to look at each scale with your own eyes. I do wish some of the textures were better, but it's still impressive-looking. Highly recommended.
I lost my mind playing this in VR!
i come back every once in a while and play this...... just to get a grasp on how everything is. i am still amazed how we can even conceive the massive distance away from earth, or how small the smallest stuff is. I like at the end when it says "this is all we know for now". You mean someday we will know even MORE of whats going on? Makes ones mind really think about whats out there. Whether the smallest of the small, or the biggest of the biggest. Its crazy, that's all i can say.
Thank you for stunning experience!
I bought this for my 12 year old daughter to learn about the universe and the nano world. She was constantly gasping as she played it in VR. There is a lot to learn from this and I myself was amazed at the work put into it.
The gameplay is Linear so you can only go forwards or backwards in your discoveries but I highly recommend it. For £3 its an absolute bargain.
Many Thanks to the makers, I will keep an eye out for your future releases
As above, so below. Thanks for the journey.
Decent eye-candy but not much beyond that. It doesn't really work as an educational app because it only gives two sentence summaries of objects and fails to distinguish between what an object literally looks like versus an artistic representation
I'd be willing to look past that though. The worst part is it doesn't really do a good job of making differences in scale understandable. I figured I'd at least be able to compare the size of things like a red blood cell and a white blood cell. Or see how big the largest known star is compared to our sun. Instead, at any given scale you're only ever going to see a few objects which are generally too far in the distance or too poorly modeled to really get a feeling for the size of them. For example, at one point you zoom in on a bald guy's head, and instead of seeing something interesting like how big a skin cell is compared to an eyelash, you jump straight to an illustration of how neurons are connected in his brain. Given that this hardly takes advantage of depth perception and has barely any interactivity, why even make this a VR experience instead of a 360 degree video?
I realize it's literally 10 times the cost of this game, but seriously save up and buy Universe Sandbox instead
A real beautiful journey in VR. Smooth transitions and chilling music. I could explore in there all day just going backwards and forwards. This universe is staggering, as are we. For three quid, just get it.
There are a bunch of "magnitude" apps out there but this one is far above average. It's well-made, looks great and has a bunch of info on various objects at various scales. It's fun and educational.
At the very bottom of the scale, though, I probably would have ended on quantum foam instead of string theory since quantum foam is a bit more modern and string theory isn't working out no matter how many dimensions they add... 6 dimensions, 10 dimensions, 11 dimensions... Neither one is a fact, though, so it's just a tiny nitpick.
Pretty simple experience but absolutely breathtaking. Do not expect a ton of content but what is there is amazing.
Beyond incredible. Worth the small price. 20-25 minute experience if you do the glide through and then free exploration collecting everything.
This expirience was awesome bro
