This is everything a detective/mystery game should be. A tightly focused environment packed with interactions, well written characters, choices with satisfying conclusions, great pacing and a great soundtrack.
There are no cheap twists or cliche story beats. There's a touch of satire and no exposition dumps.
Overall the game strikes me as something David Lynch would be proud of.
please, please make another one. i loved playing it. it was very exciting and fun to play. i also like that you showed the horibble cercumctances back then when people were homosexuel and that love can be very strong even tho it can end very bad.
thank you:)
Really great plot line and it's interesting seeing all the different interactions you could get between some of the choices made. The only critique I have is that it just feels like the Andrew as an acolyte option was a bit thrown together quickly compared to the Beth choice. Otherwise a really great game!
Not quite what it promises, but still an interesting enough story, if a tad slow. Worth playing, but don't expect a simulator or anything here; the game wants to tell you a story and all the mechanics are kinda secondary to that.
This game is beautifully made. I loved the complex story line and character development. The game play was a little tricky at first but I got a hold of it quickly. The only thing I could wish for is longer game play. I was able to complete one full play through in 6 hours.
I'm glad I got this game on sale, because it justified the length logically to me than the full fledged agony I may have felt if I had brought it at full price.
It did feel a little... misleading. On one hand, you got what it said on the tin- you're a maid in a hotel and you use your access to rooms to solve mysteries. Well a singular mystery, that has one or two different endings according to the blurb of others depending on the choices you make and the companion you use.
The story is... twee. It did feel a little bit of a sell out that it felt like the studio was screaming 'NOTICE ME, I HAVE MESSAGES TO SEND' and that I'm sure is fine, it's not imposing or harmful, and you...somewhat...have a choice? I'll be fair, I played it through once, I've not had all the possibilities yet.
Nevertheless, this leads me to my primary issue, since there is one singular story (and not many as they seem to imply, or at least, I seemed to understand, and if that was my issue, I hold my hands up) I have to now put this down for some time to forget most of the plot to try another direction - and I'm sure some may argue comes with the territory of murder mystery, but for a game?
Graphically, well, I came across bugs, very slow lag in places that caused crashes, but it was otherwise pretty and researched well for it's time period, and that I give credit for.
I wish it would have been stretched more, maybe a few mysteries and variety; and us nearing the end when the incident actually takes place kinda makes it less 'murder mystery' and more 'extremely nosy maid who gets into other people's business just because she can, and were we meant to like you for this main character?'
Personally, the background stories of the people who work with her would have been an additional nice mystery, instead it was just to tutor us on 'choice making that will effect the outcome' for the ultimate end.
But, while it seems I'm ragging on it, it's only because I think it could have done better for the price originally asked for, but for a sale price, and a game to while away some hours, then yes, I give it a recommend.
The storyline is very good and seems realistic for the time. The only downside is that the many clues and names make the mystery very big and spread out and sometimes difficult to follow. I do recommend this game due to the story and characters.
As a fan of detective games (No really, I own almost all of Frogwares's Sherlock Holmes Games) I thoroughly enjoyed this game. I sincerely hope you do too. It runs for about 3 hours if you've got the talent. If you don't, the hints are remarkably well written.
Choices matter. All of them. What you do, or do not do... and the ones you make that resemble left and right, will impact the story. And things change beyond what color the ending animations are tinted with, I promise this isn't another Mass Effect 3 kind of sales pitch.
Animations, performance overall, and stability are a little rough. Although I place most of the blame on Unreal Engine's underlying issues.
If you enjoyed this game, I also highly reccomend The Council. Episode 1 is free, if you would like to try it. It is one of my favorite games, now alongside this one.
I haven't finished playing it yet, But I like it very much!!! I just would like to recommend it to one of my friends, who do not speak fluent English as I do. So is it possible to have Chinese version in the future? THX.
Satisfying detective game with a great twist. Beautiful atmosphere and setting. Really well done. Wishing for more like this
love this game! good graphics & story
This Bed We Made is a third-person mystery game in which you play as a maid in a 1950s hotel and snoop around strangers' rooms to uncover their deadly secrets. Discover what links guests together in this tale of love, heartbreak and murder!
I bought this game thinking it would be a very standard murder mystery game. I was very wrong, the story was very unique and unexpected. You get to really dive in to the lives of side characters and understand what is going on with them all through your perspective of being a maid. It also was not too stressful which was a relief, I thought it might be a very tense game. The game had incredible representation for a game set in the 50s, I do not want to spoil anything so I will just say it was so heartwarming to see myself in characters in a game set so long ago, and the way the stories of the guests intertwined with your own was beautiful.
The one thing that is hard to deal with though is there are little details that if you miss or don't realize you need to interact with completely change which ending you get so it is a bit difficult to make sure you cover all your bases if you are going for a specific ending or achievement and some do not make the most sense imo.
This Bed We Made is a beautifully atmospheric mystery game that pulls you right into its 1950s hotel setting. Playing as a snoopy maid uncovering secrets is oddly satisfying, and the mix of puzzles and storytelling kept me hooked. The choices and multiple endings add a lot of replay value too. Some puzzles can be tricky, but overall, it’s a fantastic experience for anyone who loves a good narrative mystery. Highly recommend!
It's short, but pretty fun for a quick casual experience. It was made by a small indie studio, so while it had potential to do more, it's a good start for them to continue into this mystery genre, and do more for their next game. I've replayed it in various different ways and manage to unlock all achievements, with various endings based on my actions/choices. If you are a fan of the murder mystery genre, this is a decent period piece that will take up a couple hours of your time.
interesting style, quite short but pretty good. if you're into mysteries, solving them and puzzles, this is a hit. worth a shot on sale, wouldn't pay full for how short it is.
If you want to make the game with the money, make sure to go back and get multiple endings to add more time. But, it is definitely a fun game.
This game was super interesting, great themes and tones, loved the mid 50s Montreal vibe and I really liked the investigation gameplay while being a maid. The story has a great buildup but the ending left me wanting more? You take important decisions as the character it was hard for me to fully understand the outcome of them.
The story and lore is super rich and you can get really deep into the characters backstories but (I assume this is from a budget restraint) you don't see any of them in the game which makes it hard to follow sometimes.
For example : I got an achievement that said "you got Wendy fired" and I absolutely have no clue when I interacted with her story.
I was also disappointed with the French version of game. As a French Canadian, I was excited to hear dialogues from the 50s with the old accents but for some reason, the french is very modern and feels almost off, and I had to switch to English because it was taking me out of the ambience.
Overall, it was a super fun ride and for a studio's first game, it was great. I wish I could've had a bit more.
This was honestly such a great game. It kept me curious and at the edge of my seat. I SWEAR I thought it was horror sometimes because of how intense it got. I think I played a few times to unlock some choice paths. 10/10 would recommend.
The game was great. I'm really impressed with this deep, catchy and so stylish story. Characters are great, crimes and love.
I enjoyed cleaning also, it was super relaxing. All the puzzles were super smart.
I do wish that you, guys, will do more games like this.
From choices-matter-gamelover, that was an amazing experience and one more game into the best ones within this genre
Looking forward to the next great games from this Team!
I enjoyed this far more than I was expecting. So glad stories like this are now being told especially in games. I don't want to say too much otherwise I'll give away spoilers! But if you don't like some of the views in this game, then you need to rethink your life choices...
A short but amazing game, loved every part of it; from the story to the cleaning to the mysteries. It's perfect for this time around Christmas or on a rainy day. It tells a great story and i really love the characters and voice acting. The only 2 cons i would say is that i feel like the walking could've been more realistic and i think the price is a tiny bit high without sale. Other then that amazing game and will play a 2nd time! :)
Secrets to uncover, lots and lots of drawers to open... The home-exploration subgenre of walking simulator is not exactly uncommon, but this game still manages to bring some originality. In most walking simulators, you passively discover the story, but in this one you actually have the power to make a difference by cleaning things up. Suspenseful story with characters I felt invested in.
I never really write reviews for games, but I just finished this one and had too. I have never played a murder mystery puzzle game that made me cry and giggle over the sweet story line. The puzzles are easy enough but the story is what makes this game a 100/10!
Amazing mystery game! I love solving puzzles and trying to solve a mystery but what makes this game so great is that there are deeper stories within the game as well. I finished it so fast and then keep going back for more and wish that there were more puzzles to solve. HIGHLY RECOMEND!!
Really great gameplay. Clues and puzzles were challenging and the payoff in snooping was satisfying. I'd really love someone to throw money at this to make it a longer game. I wanted a week to clean the rooms and get to know the staff. I wanted to help clean up the huge party and more chapters of other people, perhaps reoccurring stories, so many possibilities. I also appreciate the historical references to women's need to be discrete in their feelings. Higher stakes would have been added to it if the male acolyte got angry if he saw something or if you had to sneak the romance behind closed doors and the danger of the other staff figuring out the romance element. So much potential!! Can't wait to see more.
Great mystery that really does a lot of great stuff. The setting and characters felt really unique too
Good game but short and even with the "good" ending you don't really get all of the plot explained. Enjoyed it, would have liked something a bit longer, and a little more ability to explore the hotel. Overall, worth buying if it's on sale and you enjoy mystery and point and click.
Cozy mystery piece about being a maid and snooping around in a hotel. This is behind a spoiler warning so you can't complain- its a bit of a Gone Home gay drama. You're looking through old letters, uncovering old romances and lost loves, and discovering how characters navigate through society. There's a real risk of the cozy queer drama being... *too* cozy. Characters finding their romantic partners without too much internalized suffering, other characters being shockingly accepting of the gay characters popping up, things like that. I have people tell me I hate happy endings and I really don't think that's true. I mean yes, I do enjoy some bleak endings. But I like mess. I like it when problems are difficult to overcome, so that the successes feel more earned. If the journey didn't have a challenge, its hard to feel enthused about the ending. There's certainly value in the fantasy of a happy ending, but I need a bit more spice for it to hit right for me.
Which I why I adored how difficult it is to get the golden ending. Figuring out which evidence Sophie needs to throw away to protect the wider cast from the cops is a genuine challenge. The police are ready and eager to throw some schmuck in prison, especially if they're a minority. Any scrap of evidence you've missed could lock you into Paul, Anne, or Marcela being unjustly arrested. As of the current Steam Achievement rankings, only 8% of players have successfully shifted the blame from anyone we care about. According to the stats, 64% of players completed the game. That gulf is fascinating to me. The next stat of successfully protecting anyone is around 16%, which at least indicates that most players didn't throw away anything. But still, the balance between discovering all the clues and remembering to dispose of everything later is a genuinely engaging mechanic, at least for me. It just hammers home how truly oppressive this institutions are and how survival is so profoundly difficult in a way that felt well-realized and well-crafted. The game is a short enough 2-3 hours that seeking out the variation feels feasible and rewarding.
I loved this game! I got immersed into the atmosphere of the game so easily. 1950s hotel maid cleaning rooms during a blizzard stumbling upon (or snooping to find) clues to solve a mystery. I hope they release more mystery games like this in the future. Maybe with a little less romancing though. That part felt kinda out of place and random for me.
This game was a very enjoyable experience and is worth checking out
Masterpiece, must be played, worth every penny. The story is great, it is told in a masterful way, the puzzles are interesting, the characters are interesting, the gameplay keeps you invested, it works so well the maid dynamic into the story and gameplay, it gives the player enough room of choices to really relate to the story. My first playthrough got me a bad ending and it made me feel so bad for the characters whose stories I've been unveiling throughout the game that I quickly jumped at another run. This is what the game does best, by the way, for a game with multiple endings that require multiple tries to experience everything, they actually make the a full run not last for weeks of gameplay. I've given up on so many games when they just got me to finish a run after long hours of gruesome gameplay, only to then pause at the thought of having to go through all of that again just to see how the story could play out differently.
I played this game back in March, and I still can't get it out of my head. This Bed We Made is a phenomenal mystery game with lots of twists and interwoven subplots. Your choices absolutely matter in this game, and will dictate the ending you get. The only major flaw in this game is not being able to skip dialogue interactions - this is really only an issue when you're replaying it to experience the different endings, as it gets tedious sitting through all the cutscenes. But aside from that, this is a great game! If you enjoy the Nancy Drew games from HerInteractive, you will love this game!
I was so invested on it being an interesting criminal investigation game that i competently forgot i actually had to be a maid. Don't forget Save Files!
Didn't enjoy it. The fact that the mystery is pretty boring until the last part doesn't help. I expected something to hook me in, but it's mundane job and life until the LAST part, at which point I was just pushing through.
Good game, fun to have a female protagonist. I am not great at game puzzles but these puzzles were just right.
I wish I could've skipped scenes to faster replay all different variants and ending, but hey, I really wanted to replay all different variants and endings. So there is that!
A masterpiece - beautiful design and animations, wonderful storyline and keeps you on your toes. It almost feels like a movie. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys great storytelling, puzzles and queer romance.
I have to say this is fun, a little short IF, you only do one play through. It really does matter what choices and things you say to make a difference. I am a huge fan of achievements and I am working on getting this game 100 percent. I would love to see more like this. It is a game you can take your time, graphics are great, voices and music are fun plus if you do not cheat it is more challenging. Come on see if you can play this game without 1. reloading, 2. looking up on the net to find out how to do it and 3. see if you can solve the mystery.
My partner and I just finished our first playthrough of this amazing game! It was sleuthy, well thought out and very engaging! There were a couple times when we giddily got out some pen and paper to keep the cypher key along with us for the trips up and down the halls, haha. Truly a fun experience and to see the utilization of so many angles was fascinating and had us theorizing this and that the whole time!! It was refreshing and endearing to see the 'good' ending that we got - Bean and Beth together. Their conversation about the world changing. Chills and tears.
Really good mystery game set in the 50's with a decent story. I will say that if you just play through the story and don't investigate who the criminal is yourself you won't know who the culprit is. Interestingly enough, and maybe more realistically, the identity of the culprit isn't really focused on towards the end of the story. You are just a maid in this luxury hotel who experienced and witnessed something horrible and know you're being questioned by the police. So it is totally believable that the character we are playing just wouldn't be privy to all the information especially on the first play through. But you can. I enjoyed the pacing and the puzzles, my only complaint about them would be that they were a little too easy. A friend and I were able to crack the codes with the little bit of info we were first given. But if you are looking for a chill mystery/murder vibe. This one could be for you, 8.5/10
Oh wow, this...this is a GAME. At first when I was playing and it had only been a couple hours and i was almost halfway through the story, and I was very disappointed and glad I had purchased at sale price. By the end, however, I understood why it's on the shorter side.
There are so many different choices I want to make. I thought I had done everything like I was supposed to, and for a first playthrough I guess I did; but I was left heartbroken by the end. I have to go back and get things right.
This game made me feel so seen as a lesbian. It reminded me a lot of Life is Strange and LIfe is Strange: Before the Storm -- two of my favorite story games.
This game is likely worth the full price, but if you're on a budget, it's 10000% worth it at sale price, I know that for a fact already.
Really enjoyed this short "nancy drew" type story! Nice to see the 1950"s in a cute art style!
I think this was a nice quick story that is very clear with it's messages. Wish there was more of it honestly, the slow pace and through note taking makes it easy to keep up with the story.
8/10
An interesting twist on a detective game! I really enjoyed the consequences your actions as a hotel maid had on others. The story was really captivating and the game played like a movie. It takes about 6 hours to finish the game if you take your time to observe everything. There are also different endings based on your actions.
I loved the riddles in this game, story was a little bit short but loved it anyways!
Bought it on sale, glad I didn't pay full price. On sale, it is a interesting story with unique gameplay mechanics and art-style (I'm very much a fan of the wax-doll look of everybody).
If its on sale, the game is worth the money. However, I was expecting more actual gameplay or more variety and not to follow a single story that was able to be done in under five hours.
Maybe I misunderstood the trailer but I was just confused when the three rooms I got to investigate became part of a single story which went into a single story with 'multiple' endings.
I also was anxious for majority of the game because I thought that at any moment the hotel guests were going to walk in on me snooping- spoiler, this never became an issue.
I'm not sure if there's an ultimate happy ending for the game but I would be curious as to how 'happy' of an ending it really is.
Great story writing for short thrilling game.
I like how it was a story game, but had interactive mechanics and you got to move around the space (like a more interactive visual novel). I got the worst ending the first time around! I replayed some parts a few times to get most of the achievements but am not in the mood to replay the whole thing to get the last ones. Anyway, it's definitely worth it on a sale, considering the short gameplay.
Lots of good branching and interactivity in the story. especially in unexpected ways.
