There's a lot to like in this game but unfortunately in +/- world I have to not recommend this game. The game hangs it enjoyment on its story. There were moments I was genuinely hooked but ultimately when the game mechanics became revealed it the experience ultimately felt very shallow. I wish we had a 5 star or a 1-10 rating system because this game does a lot of things very right. It's just unfortunate that the core gameplay and much of the story is not nearly as clever or involved as it could be. A great experience that is never truly had.

Genuinely a great and heart warming story! I finished it in one sitting because the story and characters just endeared themselves to me incredibly fast.

This however is also the weak point of this game. It is VERY short. I will play it twice, and unless you look up a guide or have perfect mindset to get the best ending on the first try, you may do two as well.

This game is incredibly well made though, so it is worth every penny. If you have the money to spend it on a few VERY good hours, this is absolutely worth it. If you don't, just buy it on sale! It's one of the best walking simulators I've played, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Also very gay. 10/10, would let the game call me a sexual deviant again :)
While I solid story driven game I felt that the mystery felt quite underwhelming. There may have been more stories to uncovered and alternative endings but the one ending I had did not have me yearning for more.

Great storytelling though definately need to read the clues so you don't accidentally get a bad ending.. not that that happened to me...

I've already recommended this game to a bunch of friends who like crime mysteries, working the clues to get answers, connect the dots etc. One run takes around 6h, but I feel like the game has decent replay value in case you didn't like your ending.

I love being a nosy maid, I might make a career change

I wish it was longer, though I did get it on sale at $15. Graphics were lovely, story was fine, but my favorite part was seeing how my choices would play out. Also, if they had an endless mode DLC where you just cleaned rooms and got a score I would spend an embarrassing amount of time on it

If you're considering this game, it's important to know upfront that it's a relatively short experience—think of it as an interactive movie lasting a few hours, depending on your playstyle. There is some replayability through choices that affect the outcome, but personally, I found experiencing the story once was satisfying enough, as this genre typically doesn't encourage multiple playthroughs.

The game excels in atmosphere and vibe, making exploration and snooping around the rooms genuinely enjoyable. The hint system is effective, keeping track of your progress and helping to prevent confusion about your objectives.

I found the story engaging and intriguing, particularly enjoying how it encouraged me to think deeply about the connections and mysteries involved.

My only criticism involves the pacing toward the end:
After resolving the mystery of the rooms, discovering the body felt like a promising setup for another exciting act of mysteries. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the game's conclusion, which felt abrupt and left me wishing for more.

Overall, I genuinely enjoyed this game and recommend it, provided you're aware that it offers a shorter but compelling narrative experience.

Fun, short mystery game. I don't think short is a bad thing in this case, the game moves at a great pace and has enough twists and surprises to keep you entertained the whole way through. The tone, voice acting, and music are all excellent. The puzzles are good and nothing too difficult that would take you out of the story. The plot and puzzles work well at propelling each other along. I'm definitely interested in seeing what this developer does next!

Im sorry but for the amount of money you pay, the game feels way way too short. Where is rest of it? You just do one case and its all over? I thought there would be much more to the game but sadly to my disappointment there wasnt much.

A Gem Created with Limited Resources

Lowbirth Games Studio has delivered a finely crafted noir-style game despite working with limited manpower and budget.
I lost count of how many times I was surprised by the small details in the game—like the veins on Sophie's skin model or the well-thought-out investigation choices. Even though the game only has three major locations, they’re cleverly blended into the game’s flow, making it hard to notice the limited scope.

This contrast became especially clear to me after finishing Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express, a game developed by Microids Studio Lyon, which clearly has more experience and funding than Lowbirth Games Studio.

Atmosphere and Presentation

The atmosphere is exceptionally well-executed, and the use of camera work significantly enhances the tone and immersion.

Sound and Music

I'm not well-versed in music, so I won't say too much about it—only that it fits the game perfectly and never feels out of place.

Gameplay

When it comes to gameplay, perhaps it’s just my “Flash game brain” kicking in, but the cleaning mini-games are surprisingly addictive.
The core puzzles hit a sweet spot: interesting without being overly complicated, and they also deepen your understanding of the story.

Story and Narrative

As for the narrative, it feels like reading a mid-20th-century detective novel or watching a noir film.
I won’t go into detail to avoid spoilers, but if you’ve ever enjoyed a mystery from that era, this game won’t disappoint you.

This is a choice-driven game, and that’s the part that truly blew me away. Usually, in this kind of game, only a few choices actually matter—but here, many of them lead to noticeable differences. Not every choice changes the story, but the number that does is impressive. This might be the advantage of a small-scale game: making significant narrative shifts within a limited framework allows for more effective resource management.

Characters and Dialogue

The dialogue choices feel like things real people would actually say—natural and never jarring. Each character has a strong, distinct personality. There’s no sense of stereotypes or filler characters. For a relatively short game, it’s remarkable how memorable each character is.

Voice Acting

This speaks not just to the writing but also to the excellent voice acting.
While I wouldn’t say it's TGA-level, for a small-budget noir game, the performances are honestly outstanding.

LGBTQ+ Themes

Lastly, this game includes LGBTQ+ themes.
I know some people feel wary when they see LGBTQ+ content, but this game isn’t preachy at all. Instead, it weaves these themes into the story in a natural and respectful way. You experience the challenges and historical tragedies faced by LGBTQ+ people, but it never feels forced or out of place.

Flaws

That said, the game isn't without flaws. Minor clipping or stiff facial animations happen occasionally, but I don't consider those real issues—after all, Lowbirth Games is an indie studio. Given the care and passion they clearly poured into this game, I firmly believe that with more funding and staff, these things wouldn’t be present.

To me, there are only three notable flaws:

1. In the ending, when Sophie steps out of the elevator and talks to her acolyte, the conversation feels oddly calm considering the intensity of what just happened. Chatting about their past experiences felt out of place in a moment where there’s still a murderer on the loose in the hotel and a snowstorm raging outside. How are they this relaxed?

2. Not all dialogue and cutscenes are skippable, which made collecting all achievements more time-consuming than necessary.

3. Many players feel that the price is too high for the game’s length. I can understand that sentiment, but for me, it was worth it. Lowbirth Games Studio is clearly a team that puts their heart into what they do. Even at full price, I felt good supporting an indie developer that genuinely cares about their craft.

Conclusion

If you’re unsure whether it’s worth buying, feel free to read other reviews or check out a walkthrough—but avoid watching the ending! For a mystery story, spoilers kill the experience. And even if you’re not particularly into game development, this game will eventually go on sale—and when it does, it’s absolutely worth picking up.

To wrap things up, I truly admire how much love and attention Lowbirth Games Studio put into this project, and I’m already looking forward to whatever they create next.

If you’re someone who enjoys supporting passionate, heartfelt work from small studios, this game is absolutely worth your time.

有限資源下的精緻之作

Lowbirth Games Studio

Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express

Oh my goooood. I immediately want to replay and do a few things differently. This game was really fun, the right amount of challenging, and had a great, engaging story. I know people are seeing the LGBT tag and thinking they might have to play as an LGBT character, but you don't make many decisions regarding your personal life and it looks like you can avoid situations that would portray you as a lesbian/bisexual woman.

I don't want to give anything away. I think anyone can enjoy this game. It is so fun. But, I did not expect so many lesbian easter eggs in this game. The whole thing silently, secretly screams The Price of Salt from the moments the manager accidentally calls you Miss Belivet (your name is Miss Roy) to the vaguely similar soundtrack of Carol. Parts of the storyline made me tear up, it really hit home for me. I feel nervous giving it a raving gay review, because like...I know it's possibly going to dissuade someone from playing it, which sucks. But, here's how I'll sum it up. If you're straight, you're not going to notice how gay it is lol. It probably won't seem gay at all. If you're sapphic, you're going to love this shit.

This bed we made offers an interesting twist on your typical mystery game, its worth a try if your into crime/detective games though your mileage may vary based on how tolerant you are of replaying this thing to get to get the meat of the experience.

You'll be playing a nosy maid working in a hotel, as you go about your daily routine you'll discover a guest has photos of you snooping about through personal belongings left out in the rooms you clean. Not knowing whats going on you'll have to investigate, you could just trash the photos but what about copies? negatives? why is this guy watching you? The story of the guests on the 5th floor will unfold pretty linear style, you have your choice of co-worker helping out, and will discuss your finding with them, speculating on what the clues you find mean. Your co-worker will guide you toward a correct interpretation of events in a way that seems at first disappointing for a mystery game, after all you want to figure things out yourself, but the bulk of the playtime is setup. After the story on 5th floor has unfolded a murder happens and the meat of the game begins.

When the police come they'll investigate and make arrests based on their findings, you already know who is innocent and if you searched fully who the killer is, the game hands you this information as you find it, you won't have to work for it. What you will work for is arranging the crime scene so the police arrest catch the murderer and the innocent parties are saved. But as you clean up the evidence that points to the wrong conclusions you'll also have to avoid making it obvious that you meddled with evidence or you'll be headed to prison yourself.

Thats the cool part of the game and it comes right at the end, you have the answers you have to make the crime scene yield those answers to the cops and not get caught, it a cool twist. But it comes so late in the piece that if you've already disposed of something by mistake or want to try for a different ending you'll have to go through that linear setup again to get back to the part where it matters. And while the game is both short and generous with autosaves it is a pain to go through that setup again especially as there are alot of ending variations.

Add on top that fact that it seems there are multiple ways to get the same of some ending variations and it can become frustrating to sit through the games final scenes over and over as you reload trying to figure out what exactly the police are reacting to, to get that specific bad ending. I went for 100% completion and don't recommend it as all the replays soured things for me toward the end. Go for your best ending and be happy with that.

This bed we made is a fun story experience that weighs heavily toward it final moments, you'll likely get some replay value out of it but the heavy setup and linear nature of the bulk of game do hurt it somewhat. If you're a fan of mystery games it worth a go, but I'd wait for a sale.

There's an LGBTQ+ tag on the game page but in case you have the reading comprehension of a Trump supporter, that means GAY PEOPLE EXIST AND ARE DOING GAY THINGS SOMETIMES. It also means the game deals with issues affecting the queer community. If that's too hard for you to process, maybe go play Call of Duty or some shit. The lil homphobic crybabies in the community discussions made me even more keen to pick this game up than I already was so thanks for selling it even harder <3

To the actual game: the story is well written, thoughtful, and a solid look at where we came from. I loved the characters, especially Beth, and the art style was gorgeous. The setting was beautiful to look at and I loved diving in and solving all the little puzzles. There were a few things I missed so I'm keen to start a second play through to see if I can get the remaining pieces and achievements.

The game is fully voice acted and none of it is super over the top. Very well done! I know some folks have had glitches and bugs with various things but I completed my playthrough with no issues at all.

The folks bitching about historical accuracy or the fact that there were too many queer people in one place seem to miss the fact that queer people DO tend to seek each other out and this has always been the way. Places seen as safe for the community become little hubs.

Anyways, if you know enough basic grammar to understand "woke" isn't a pejorative, this is a well executed mystery with many secrets to uncover. Average playthrough length is about 4.5hrs but it took me 5.5. I thought I was being thorough but I still missed a bunch of things so imo there's replayability even if you think you know everything. I genuinely enjoyed my time playing it and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys narrative games and can approach queer content without behaving like a rabid animal.

This is honestly such a phenomenal game, I loved the mystery and the way the investigations are set up, it really feels like you're snooping around in all these people's things and finding things you really shouldn't be.

The only complaint I have is that when I was done, I was struck by how quickly it was over. It's a very short game, but so much quality is packed in there, if the only real complaint I have is that I want more of it, that's honestly a good problem to have. Really looking forward to seeing what future projects come from this developer!

The game is rather short for 30 dollars CAD. Honestly it felt like I played chapter 1 of what should have been a longer story. I did honestly enjoy the story it wasn't too bad, but I don't think its worth 30 dollars with the lack of content. Story games in particular this one felt like rushed to the climax and ended so abruptly. It felt more like a short story.. While the graphics are nice and the setting is captivating it lacks too much in what really matters. I wouldn't buy it at full price, I would buy it at half the price.

Having only finished this twice i'm still not sure how much influence you can have over the police interview (it seems like not a lot which is very disappointing given it's supposed to be the climax), but despite this the whole mechanic of swaying a police investigation by removing or not removing evidence from hotel rooms is dynamite. It would be nice if along with the still images that depict the specific endings you get, it actually spelled out what you did or didn't do to get that ending, so you can go back and change things more easily.

I also never once used the progress screen properly, as the main story is so short and linear that it would be very difficult to forget objective, clue or character details and only near the end when you're given a lot of information at once did i even notice the clues and characters screens even existed.

It would be nice if we got to interact with some of the guests and more staff. We learn a lot about various people and their relationships but because the way we find out a lot of the side stories is scattered and non-linear (and at most they amount to illustrations, minor notes or voices in other rooms), they seem distant and frankly uninteresting after a while. And this is on top of your sidekick for the game being on the end of a telephone for most of it. It's quite a lonely game to be honest. My first playthrough i was very cautious to make guests' rooms look untouched because i was anxious they would suddenly appear and cause a riot (especially in guests' rooms i wasn't supposed to be in) but i realised that actually, nobody ever shows up, so i am free to do what i want in this apparently occupied yet inexplicably empty hotel floor with no immediate consequences whatsoever. Which is really deflating and spoils the experience.

There is one jarringly arbitrary part of the game where it refuses to let you pass through a doorway because of a spillage. In order to clean up this spillage you have to get a mop that's right by another spillage you can walk over easily. There is no reason that particular spillage blocks your path, it isn't different to any of the others in the game and has no effect on the story, nor does it start a cutscene or anything like that. I don't know why they chose to do it and it unreasonably bothers me.

Also the cutscenes aren't skippable which makes multiple playthroughs a chore.

But then why am i recommending it?
Well because it is actually really fun. The story unfolds well and there's a lot of moral greyness for you to wade through when choosing what evidence to keep or throw away, despite some heavy-handedness at the end (it does work in the context of the character). The only major criticism i have is that it isn't ambitious enough. It's supposed to be a flippin' hotel and yet you are stuck with one major plotline and get to explore maybe six of the guests' rooms maximum, one of those being the tutorial room. At £20 it feels a little overpriced, but with even a 25% discount it would make a more palatable experience.

this was a really cool game! i honestly feel like there could be chapters or different storylines branching out from this as it felt a little short, but the gameplay was great and the puzzles were fun. there is a very tiny amount of replayability by being able to choose your partner in crime/love interest each time, but other than that, super linear. love a good noir though! felt like a modern day Nancy Drew, would recommend! This isn't an investigation game about finding the right suspect and getting a sense of accomplishment out of it. If you want a game like this, don't waste your time with This Bed We Made.
This game is about the objects that tell stories. You can shape the whole development of the game by keeping or hiding items. And the process of finding out clues about the guests of the hotel is really satisfying.
I wasn't expecting the game to be like this, but to me it was a really nice surprise.

What an interesting story! Definitely lots of replayability with the different outcomes you can have throughout the story. I'll definitely be coming back to this one to try to get the rest of the achievements.

One of the better and more interesting p&c adventure games I've played. I like the setting very much, and the main character is such an adorable weirdo creep - finally a game that justifies well through the narrative snooping around and going through other peoples' stuff :D Great writing and characters.

Cute game, looks great, runs great, sounds amazing. Very short unfortunately, but honestly i don't think the story should've been any longer, i just enjoyed it enough to wish there was more :P

This is a choice game and there are 28 or something like that endings - the replay value is so high! It took me about 3 hours to complete it the first run through and I did not explore as much as I could have. You can take your time and click on so much and explore through so much! Very great atmospheric game with a little romance and detective snooping on the side. Would definitely recommend this!

I really enjoyed this game! I wish we'd gotten a bit more backstory on some of the coworkers, and some of Sophie's backstory could have been peppered in earlier. Like her mom having a mental illness, which would have an understandable impact on motivation/perspective, though I only learned that in the Andrew playthrough, and I don't know yet if it's different with Beth?? It seems like Andrew would be sympathetic toward Paul and Beth toward Anne & Marcella, but it would be weird if details like that changed so I hope not I also wish more of the hotel was open to you, like the ballroom or the kitchen/restaurant. Also what happened at the Valentine's Day party??? I have so many questions and only a handful of vague details!

Other quibbles: some of the dialogue is unskippable, as are cutscenes, which is really annoying when you're doing a second playthrough or loading a save to make a different choice. (Long Live the Queen, for example, has the option to fast forward through dialogue you've already seen, which can be toggled easily -- that would be really helpful here!) The movement is a little clunky, too. It also was frustrating to me that there were some parts you couldn't clean up -- like the couch bed for Hector. If you're throwing things away to protect M & A and saying that M was a devoted wife, wouldn't it make sense to then have the option to clean up the couch bed to help support that?

This all makes it sound like I didn't like the game, but I really did! I like how complex the story is and how seemingly unconnected characters are actually VERY connected. Also, we're here for anonymous sapphic romance novelist Marcella + a cute sapphic couple who are either imprisoned murderers (be gay, do crime) or ride off into the sunset with their son. The quibbles exist because I really think this game has some great bones. I truly enjoyed it, but it felt like it just fell a bit short of the mark I was hoping it could hit.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ would recommend!

PS as a librarian, myself, I'm unreasonably salty (kidding) (mostly) that Andrew didn't choose to become a librarian instead of opening a bookstore. I mean, books + helping people = librarian. Tho ig owning a bookstore means you could make sure you had a stock of banned books (tho if you think librarians aren't doing shit like that, you need to talk to more librarians lmao)

Good game. Great atmosphere and setting, interesting story, and good characters and voice acting. It's essentially an adventure game inside of a mystery wrapper.

I was hoping for more of a deductive reasoning Obra Din-alike, so just be aware that it's not that. Still worth checking out though, especially on sale. It's a little short, but it doesn't overstay its welcome, which I appreciate.

I liked the game at first. It reminded me of Nancy Drew games if you are familiar, if they had a bit more animation. The story was a bit of a letdown. It was good and getting better, and I was expecting to encounter some kind of something more after the interrogation with the police, but then it just ended very abruptly. I thought there would be a more satisfying conclusion and a bit more story. The game is good if you want something that is very easy to get through and digest. Slightly overpriced for what you get in my opinion (at full price), though I do not regret my purchase.

A short and sweet murder mystery game, I got all endings and achievements within the 10 hours I played. It was very cute and cozy (at least, the mystery solving part was cozy), though I do think it was maybe too short. I love shorter games, but a lot of the functions in the game gave you a tutorial, just to only do it one more time, and never again. For example, the lying system. As tight as the script/game was, I almost think the game would have benefited from a little more breathing room in every department: a few more rooms (we don't even go into 3 rooms on our floor), a few more puzzles, seeing a few more of the characters, a few more details on Sophie so we can care about her story a bit more, etc. Overall, I did really enjoy the game and I would recommend it if you like short murder mystery games.

This Bed We Made is super cool. It's a slow burn thriller set in a very prejudicial 1950s. That is a key part of the story in many ways. There's tons of opportunity to snoop around, read letters, and uncover the hidden lives of the guests in your hotel while still taking a while to truly fit the pieces together.

The game gives you lots of options with consequences in what you interact with. Do you clean up the mess? Do you throw out this letter? Do you wipe up this message written in a moment of anger? Do you protect your co-workers from getting in trouble with the boss?

The puzzles are great. Very few games have puzzles that genuinely make you think. They can't easily be guessed, at least not until you figure out a certain amount of it already. It's sort of a mini-scavenger hunt mixed with critical thinking. I really loved the puzzles, though there aren't a whole lot of them.

The story is great. The character interactions are really interesting. The characters all feel fleshed out and real. The story starts with yourself at the center of it and as you uncover more and more, the story expands and you get some cool plot twists. Then take the setting and time period into account and some of the story and decision-making gets additional complexity to it.

This Bed We Made is a really cool, chill walking simulator with tons of interactivity. You spend most of your time snooping through hotel rooms while occasionally seeing other parts of the hotel and its staff. My brain started working overtime trying to piece the story together and it's genuinely hard to figure out until the game lets you. That's a testament to the writing because this story has some unexpectedly neat twists and turns. Highly recommend for anyone who prefers narrative over gameplay.

Also, oh boy did I fuck up the choices in this game. The first choice I fucked up is I chose Andrew as my love interest because I didn't realize I was choosing my love interest. I simply thought that Beth said she was stuck behind the desk and couldn't leave so Andrew would be more helpful since he could wander the hotel. Then I fucked up the end. All of them went to prison lol.

This is an excellent game with many different options and exciting discoveries. Basically it's my idea of a great game. The puzzles are challenging enough without being so difficult as to be discouraging. The graphics are very nice. Also, I did not get seasick.
