Huge fan of the Resident Evil game and Resident Evil 8 Village is an incredble game with an even more incredible story too.
It can be playable on Raytracing graphic settings as long as it must be optimized depending on your PC case. it does really feel like RE 4 Original but only exceptional scariest level into there doll (optional) boss in the dark, deep basement or underground place of the big manison after you survive at the castle by defeating the first boss and three mini-bosses. No weapons, no heal potion, instead, just hide and survive though that terrifying limbo like unearthly creature you can't kill from silent hill 2/3 HD collection.
The game kept me hooked throughout the entire playthrough. I loved the characters, environment, and boss design, everything is so detailed, it's insane how much work went into it. I was in awe when I saw how intricately designed some items were, the attention to detail is just incredible.
if you like resident evil this is more of it but man, dont bother with the dlcs
capcom is really good at optimizing so you can legit play this on the steam deck and it runs so smooth and looks great too
the RE4 shop system feels mad undercooked
the story is whatever
the one dlc thats actually story related is very, recycled. and while thats not necessarily a bad thing it just felt like it could have been more than it was
its not as good as 7, but is not bad at all
grab it on a good sale maybe
Incredible game! The story is engaging, the character designs are amazing and the gameplay itself is very fun. Absolutely love the contrast in environments from the beautiful and opulent to the more grim and dark <3
RE8 again sees a ramp-up in action gameplay compared to RE7, with some absurd boss battles (Looking at you, Heisenberg), but some of the characters we meet, like The Duke and Lady D really help sell the gothic themes and are great additions.
Storyrich, great character and set development. Gunplay reasonably fun, ammo never feels too abundant. Great voice acting and some good horror sequences. Puzzles are too easy though, often laughably so.
Maybe I just don't like the vampires and werewolves theme, but I find this game is really lame, and also not even remotely scary.
I found RE4 remake vastly more scary and intense, while also being for focused on combat.
For me personally, this entry is worse than RE6.
For the main game, the gameplay is boring, enemy designs are lame, there isn't a gore system like RE2 (2019). It's almost a copy of RE4 (2005), but action is a drool, and unlike RE6, there isn't a mechanical depth. Literally a case of "All style, no substance".
For the DLC, it's in 3rd person perspective, but the control is for 1st person perspective, meaning you can't run to the side or backward, The story is mediocre. I see this DLC as a poor attempt to please fans' demand for a story expansion.
If you are a fan of the RE series, wait for a discount, then try this one out.
Relly incredible survival horror game it's the sequel to resident evil 7 and Ethan Winters amazing story. The game also reveals a lot of information about the license in general.
Ahhhhh yes, another game where you fight a random mix of vampires, werewolves, and other 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂 mobs
The protagonist, Ethan, just can’t catch a break...
His hands get chopped off, and yet he’s still joining them like the lego blocks? like seriously?
The graphics are stunning, and the atmosphere is so awesome..
The classic Resident Evil formula of chaos, but with even more bizarre moments and a plot that’s about as clear as mud...
scary game and amazing story usually i dont follow story in games but i liked this
Very good game, good game play 10/10 would game again.
The best way to get the complete experience the series has to offer. I had only heard about the resident evil games and seen a couple scenes of resident evil 5 when I was younger. As someone who isn't a fan of horror games or movies I challenged myself to play the resident evil games and love them now. Village feels like it was built with so much love for the other games, with every section of the game dedicating itself to reminiscing about the other games. my fun died down towards the end of the game but it was no less a great time, with every area making sure that you didn't get bored of the old one, or ready to replace it if you didn't care for that section of the game. my only nitpick is Ethan having the exact same reactions to everything all the time (saying Goddamn, 4 times! in the last boss fight) but thats about it
I loved the game! The gameplay was a lot of fun and I absolutely loved the atmosphere of every set piece. I also really enjoyed all of the villians, they were all fun and very memorable. There were times where it felt like they should have gotten a lot more screentime especially for the ones earlier on in the game. It def focuses on action and fun factor more than horror, but it doesn't take away from the experience at all for me. Overall really fun and would 100% recommend to anyone who is even slightly interested in playing!
The Graphics in this game were amazing. The Combat was super fun. Bosses were amazing characters and really fun fights. The mini bosses like the daughters that you come across were really cool and fun fights. This Game is a Masterpiece. 10/10
Fantastic game and great time while playing it
This game was phenomenal, easily the best Resident Evil game and one of the best games I’ve played overall.
It kept everything that RE7 did well and improved on it too, it also incorporated elements from the older games like RE4, which older fans such as myself should appreciate, character work and voice acting is spot on and environments are stunning and interesting. My only complaints are the length of the game as I wish it could’ve gone on longer than 8 hours but that’s pretty average for Resident Evil so cant complain too much and also (SPOILERS AHEAD) the final boss battle is needlessly difficult due to the lack of loot drops in the fight however, if my aim wasn’t so bad maybe I wouldn’t need them Lmao.
Overall 5 stars and a phenomenal gaming experience great for fans old and new and definitely worth every penny
Finally!!
I have beat all of Resident Evil / Biohazard games, from original ones to remakes, after all this time!
Truly an excellent experiences by each of them up to this point. Yeah, sure. I know I am way too late than any other gamer buddies.
Well, workstuff and maintaining life are always my priorities among the few.. So envy with those of you who got more times to play games than I do.
Lucky you.
:3
Capcom, please consider Resident Evil Outbreak File 1 & 2 plus Dino Crisis to remaster or remake it without any alteration or censorship, using RE Engine!
Please? Make it as original as it should be. Please? Stay true to their core. Please?
I had so much fun with their series. And my favorites are RE0, RE 1,2 and 3 (the original trilogy), RE2 remake, RE4 (original), RE5, RE6, two Revelations, and finally RE7.
This one; RE8, was alright. But not to my liking and expectations, though I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end, along with the DLCs. But sadly, not my favorite.
I know there are other gamers who're huge fans of this one, it's okay. Let's respect each other's preferences.
For those who haven't play this one yet, go buy it soon. It's quite thrilling! So worth it to add on your library or collection of gaming stuff.
;3
The only thing I like from RE8 is the way they put some classic monster vibes. From vampires, werewolves, Frankenstein-ish creatures, shapeshifters, humanoid watery abominations, and many other classical stuff all packed as one great horror game. Felt like an excellent homage or a cool tribute to those nightmare fuel entities that's been around ever since our great-great-great grandparents in the form of entertainment back then as books or movies.
Plus the connection plot with subtle hints from all of the previous Resident Evil / Biohazard series are there as well.
X3
Lastly. Thank CAPCOM Co, Ltd abundantly. For making great games since Little League (1983), Vulgus (1984) and still going on strong until now. Hopefully for more years to come.

A halfway decent game that gets really weird at the end. Not as good as 7, but I did enjoy it. 6/10
Great game. Binged it over a few days. Ran great playing at 3440x1440 (i7 13700k/3080ti) on high with raytracing on high (average 120fps). Some great mix of pacing and game play. Story was interesting and i'm picky so most should like it
PLAY RESIDENT EVIL 7 and 8
you will literally cry one of the best games i have ever played resident evil games in first person are literally the best to ever exist 7 and 8 are one of the best games i have ever played
story 10/10
boss fights 10/10
graphics 10/10
worth it 10/10
Game is soo great, I played Resident Evil 7 first though. Quite long, hope to see this game longer though.
A worthy follow up to survival horror focused Resident Evil 7. RE8 is clearly influenced from the fan favorite RE4 and tries to do a mash up of RE7's survival horror and RE4's action; I wouldn't say it hits the mark perfectly on either of those attempts (boss fights are mid, you can fight all enemies using the same strategy, doesn't feel as immersive as RE7), but if they build upon what they have here for RE9 it could be promising.
Love this game! Best RE in my book, played it more then once to get the unlockables etc
I find Village to be pretty disapointing overall for many reasons. From the game losing PC options from RE7 (no FOV slider anymore what??) to the dumbing down of the balance between horror elements and power fantasy moments. This game basically plays more like a first person version of RE4 than an actual sequel to RE7. And yes Capcom has really changed as a company since RE7. which was in a way their last big creative gamble that paid off. Now they just give the people what they want (which usually amounts to more RE4).
I would still recommend the game because it looks great, it plays fine, the voice actors are really good and the world looks absolutely breathtaking. But it truly feels like a step down from RE7.
I just made my first playtrough. Out of the 4 Arcs + Intro Arc + Finale, I liked all a lot. Only the 4. Arc had some small lenghts and back tracking. The "crafting" and upgrading system is fun. The weapons and shooting is fun.
I played it on medium difficulty and it never got too easy.
The story was very nice. Reminded me a lot of "The Evil Within" but likely better.
this game crashes every time, wont even load. the demo worked just fine, like whats going here ?
Engaging story, great set and character designs. Gunplay reasonably fun, ammo never feels too abundant. Great voice acting and some good horror sequences. Puzzles are too easy though, often laughably so.
I love this addition to the resident evil series. Very well made. I've played through the story several times already
Horrible voice acting from the main character, iffy world building and somewhat wanky movement all comes together to make this an amazing playthrough. You will gain enjoyment from both the game and from making fun of it.
Also big booba lady
I had a lot of fun but the tone is honestly a massive whiplash from RE7. Don't go in expecting a very scary or serious game, but an action-packed and content-packed game. Resident Evil is having an identity crisis again, but I am willing to ignore that for now if they keep making games as high quality as this one
I've never been drawn to the RE games, but I have watched people play through the winters story and thoroughly enjoyed it. I figured it couldn't hurt to try the games that cover his story (RE7 & RE8). I was right. Not only has it been really enjoyable I find replay value in the game due to the achievements, different game modes, and finding new information about the characters through not only their files, but their voice lines and overall presentation throughout the game.
Dont play if you have a blood pressure problem. Spent the entire time in the castle stress and hard.
Quite alright. The story is completely off the rails now, but the gameplay is kinda fun.
The father-daughter relationship in *Resident Evil Village* enriches the horror experience, making Ethan's journey not just about survival but about the lengths a parent will go for their child. This emotional resonance sets the game apart and elevates it beyond typical survival horror narratives. 10/10
kinda mid.
- bad hit feedback on enemies when compared to something like re2 remake
- lame af main character compared to leon
- poorly thought out chase sequences
- had to mod the game to change fov
- not much choice in weaponry
- inconsequential crafting system
- laughably easy puzzles
buy re2 remake or re4 remake instead.
It's not a Resident Evil, it's just an attempt of making a poor Silent Hill with the name of a franchise that was really good... I'm just playing it because it's part of the saga, but I can't wait to finish it once and then uninstall it.
Game is really great, a little weird with the one liners from the main character. Over all i enjoy it.
This game was mostly designed to feel like "Resident Evil 4: Ethan Winters Edition" and I dig that A LOT. While not being able to roundhouse kick enemies (nor sneak up on them like in RE4:R), combat feels varied and snappy, and serve as good preparation for RE4:R. The Beneviento and Heisenberg sections are my favorite, the former is a nice switch-up from all the game's action-heavy gameplay whilst the latter I simply find to be sick; that shit played out like an IMAX film and I don't care if others find it to be out-of-character, it's not RE6's level of "big thing go boom and also we're piloting a damn plane".
Main game's story is great. I really like Ethan Winters as he slowly became more witty and determined as the game progresses; not in the same way as Leon, but close enough. Chris's actions were a bit odd, but I didn't mind that a whole bunch.
As for nitpicks, collecting items can be disorienting because they can be acquired over a longer distance than expected, so in the heat of battle that threw me off a lot. Audio proximity is also not the most distinct in terms of enemy encounters, but not a big deal. Lastly, mini bosses don't chase you around if you're far enough away from a designated area, so while it's easy to cheese them it can also come off as a hassle if unprepared.
The DLC campaign is...eh. Certainly feels less like an RE game as it feels more fantastical and dream-like. Gameplay is more akin to a traditional survival horror as ammo and resources are more limited, which is nice. And the Beneviento section this time around was amplified by 10 in terms of how frightening the enemy encounters were. The story I could care less about, wasn't very moving and the whole "Michael" thing was kinda off too even by the end of the campaign.
And Capcom, please don't lock 3rd Person mode behind a paywall. How else am I supposed to get a good look at Ethan's face when being chased down by a tall woman???
perfect. beat it in 7 hours, had a blast, engaging story, phenomenal level design and set pieces, and i loved the boss fights too. fuck you. this game rules.
Another great entry in the Resident Evil franchise. I really like the direction Capcom went with RE7 and RE8 with seemingly standalone stories and fresh themes that seem very different from what we may consider classic Resident Evil at this point. But the further you progress through the story the more it connects with the grander Resident Evil universe and lore. Very cool!
That being said I do have some criticisms. It definitely felt like the developers cut some corners and got rather sloppy/lazy at times. I get that RE games are generally shorter/smaller, which is why we're able to get new ones so often, and that's great, I'm fine with that. But the boat driving controls for example were laughably bad. There's only like two times in the whole game where you even drive the boat for like less than 30 sec each, so it was pretty unnecessary to even have the player control the boat if it's going to feel so terrible. Also, there's really only like 2 main enemy types that you fight 80% of the time, we could definitely use some more variability there. And if you're going to have a part called Red Dot Sight, then it damn well better give your gun a red dot sight after you equip it. C'mon Capcom! You're better than that!
Village is a love letter to the whole RE series, it takes all the best bits (primarily from RE1, 2, and a lot of 4) and melds it near flawlessy into one journey. For that reason this is probably the best RE game to newcomers, as it shows you what's so special about the series.
Play 7 first if you want the full story, but they have a short video to catch you up if you just want to jump into (my opinion) the much better of the two.
its super fun and replayable having the many achievements in game make for fun challenges to test ur skill! great story and amazing graphics. recommend 100% :))
Pros
+ Graphics & Visuals
+ Performance (Wonderfully Optimized)
Cons
- Mouse Sensitivity seems bugged as even when maxed in-game it's still awfully slow.
- Not that scary
- Lady Dimetrescu makes for a terrible "chaser" as you hardly ever encounter her, and even then she's just a big lady, hardly anything to be afraid off.
- Story is kinda boring, not much happens (until the twists near the end, which is actually kinda good).
Verdict
I mean it's not a bad game but it's quite a dissapointment. I thought it would be atmospheric with all these village vibes paired with Werewolves and Vampires, but got just mostly empty areas with little to no enemies. The castle area was lackluster and the rest of the "boss areas" were are lame. I didn't really enjoy my time with this game, sadly.
good game plus weinters expansin 3rd purson mode is great
Phenomenal is the only word I can think of. Beautiful graphics. Great story. Fun characters and locations. Fetus was terrifying. There was not a single moment where I was struggling to stay interested. I had a blast the whole way through. Beat it in two days since I didn't want to put it down. Hope all future RE games continue to be this great.
This game is abosolutely amazing my game and the dlc is absolutely worth it my game didnt exactly load the cutscenes with the words.
This game sucks. Its fun enough the first time you play, but the ending drags, and thinking back, its not at all an experience you want to have again. I had crashes late into the game, the level design locks you out of certain areas without fair warning, and the sluggish nature of the guns and movement made this a decent, but overall not recommendable experience.
I enjoyed the beginning a lot, and the second Lord gave me nightmares when I played it for the first time, but after that...it felt more like a chore to complete, they skimmed off the best parts.
RE7 is my favorite one from the franchise and that coupled with the Eevie schizo delusions certainly played into me giving it a higher mark but I still wouldn't go further than 8/10
