Fun puzzle mechanic, a little confusing, but a very unique game.
A good game with creative. So funny.
This is such a lovely and heartwarming game. Very relaxing. The puzzles are very interesting, none were too difficult. There are some really cool secrets in the game too!
A really good game to chill and relax for a while. I wish they add DLCs and add more contents to the game!
such a great game! cute art and amazing story
Cute and Beautiful,
didnt take long and wasnt too hard but time well spent and a cute story that made me happy!
I was not entirely hooked but it is pretty short, cute and chill. Everything is beautifully illustrated while some of its puzzles were tough. I realized I liked it when the credits started rolling... I'm glad that everyone received a pup.
If you are a completionist, there's a chapter select if you ever missed an achievement.
I bought this game while it was on sale, and I enjoyed the game to the fullest extend; short, simple, and a little bit of extra playtime if you want to 100% the game. The art style was wonderful, the puzzles well crafted, a great game to play for some time.
cute puzzle game with a great art style!
Well made indie game! Really cute, basic and a lovely game to enjoy on a rainy afternoon.
Carcassonne but with cute art, nice puzzles, and a good story. Don't worry if you miss a detail in a past chapter, at the end of the game it unlocks each chapter individually.
This is by far the most heartwarming story game I have ever played! Would recommend
Super cute, enjoyed the simple puzzles, graphics are adorable
玩法很新颖,画风真的太可爱了,剧情也很棒
Cute and fun, love the art and the character designs n_n
It is a very cute puzzle game with interesting mechanics and a cute and silly story. Highly recommend it for a chilled and cozy gaming experience ;D
cute game. played it with my 7 yr old. Missed some secrets but not much replay value. (unless the puzzles somehow change? I guess i didn't try).
4 hour of gameplay. Would recommend.
Super sweet and super fun, a really pretty game on all aspects !
Gorgeous, fun little game. Creative idea. Loved it
fun games and good story
Map. :3
What an unique game! Child-like without being childish, features lovely watercolor artwork and is a brainteaser! I don't believe I've played something similar: it feels very boardgame-like in the sense it's very tactile, the way you manipulate the tiles to advance the game. The writing is very sparse, but full of character; the story is simple, but enjoyable.
Being a game about cartography, about maps and how they relate to the real world, there can be a little bit of frustration when things don't match up. Navigating usually involves being a little lost and the map the game offers you sometimes doesn't have very clear indications, but like in real life a few informed guesses can get you to the next marker. There was only one occasion where I honestly don't know how you were supposed to get to the answer. It soured me a little, but the next chapter was so charming I didn't care.
In the final chapters I kinda lost my patience trying to figure out what to do, partly because I just didn't know if there was something I was missing or not. That's when the sometimes opaque nature of the game works against it. My suggestion is not to rush to the end. If you get stuck and start getting frustrated, go do something else. A cool head and some patience will get you through eventually.
Carto is a map and a map is different from GPS: it requires not simply following a line, but actually reading the world.
There's only one way to navigate this, your way :-)
So very beautiful! I'd give the world to play it all over again for the first time.
What a beautiful game! I like everything about it: the art style, a recurring music theme and most of all a heart warming story. It made me feel like I'm a child again! I played Carto in 10-15 min coffee breaks but if I'd had time I would have finished it in one go. Puzzles are cleverly designed and there was never a time I felt completely stuck. A few nitpicks which don't take away anything from this 10/10 masterpiece:
1. There's a scene where a whole village is singing, playing music and dancing together. Why did it have to end so quickly? I wanted to stay in that moment for 10 minutes, not 10 seconds :)
2. The game wouldn't be any worse if that single reference to demonic goats was removed.
3. I didn't enjoy stopping a bird from migrating and ending his journey on a plate.
Highly recommend!
A cute little puzzle game using map changing gameplay to go through 10 chapters through a few different areas. Puzzles aren't terribly difficult, but can challenge occasionally. Talking to NPCs can help guide you if you're stumped, but I often found myself especially towards the end of the game having puzzles already solved. Let it be known, while I wasn't playing terribly quickly and I was reading all the text the game only took 4 hours, and so some may find the short length not worth the price of admission. There is a meta puzzle designed to encourage replay-ability, but it's 6 random puzzles in each of the themed zones. Completing the game unlocks the ability to replay specific chapters to encourage searching for these. As of the time of review I have not completed this (I did unlock 2 of the 6 during my normal playthrough), so I may return to complete it.
The story is really amazing. The graphics and character design are incredibly cute. Though I hope there will be Vietnamese as an option in the language settings since my English isn't very good, but it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the game. The puzzles in the game are truly challenging enough to never be boring. I really love this game
Playtime: 9.8 hrs
I love the gameplay and graphics of this game very much. Everything is so cute, and the story is not very complex. The puzzle-solving aspect of the game is also fun and not tedious at all. It is such a shame that the dev has not made a sequel or even just another game at all. I guess I will just keep waiting and hope for a miracle to happen in the future.
super fun and relaxing, absolutely loved it <3
Chilled out puzzle game with a satisfying map making mechanic and very cute characters.
Love this game much <3
Start with a simple mechanic and make it more interesting as you play the game. It also has a lovely story and charming music, all combined to create a masterpiece.
Absolutely loved this game. fun, refreshing mechanic for a puzzle game. Charming simple storyline. I'd recommend this game for anyone that loves a bit of a puzzle.
Reminds me of the first time playing Monument Valley, clever game design! Wish it was longer tho
A very cute little puzzle adventure! If you like the Last Campfire, A Short Hike, you'll love Carto!
Adventure puzzle game. Super cute graphics. Adorable cozy story. I did find parts of this game to be not intuitive and the hints are vague with no way to get more hints so unfortunately I had to use a walk through multiple times because I tried everything I could without being able to advance the game. Still a very enjoyable cute game.
So fun and engaging while still remaining cute--great for someone who wants a "cozy" esque game with a solid amount of puzzling/engagement. Such great illustration and animation and a really cute story too! Feels very low pressure but still satisfying to figure out.
I finished Carto yesterday, and I have yet to stop thinking about it.
Its just... so nice that there are games where there's no Big Bad Evil that needs to be fought, nothing needs to be killed, no horrors or GRITTY REALITY- they have their place, sure. But there's so few games that are kind of just... antagonist-less games?
You're a small person whose curiosity mixed with a lack of understanding the full consequences sees you thrown adrift. You meet all these just... all-round nice, supportive, helpful people. And I think that is such an important message- no cynacism poisoning, no "but ACTUALLY" sudden twist- people helping each other.
Different cultures, different traditions- everyone having their own little problems which you help in your own way. You make these connections, you bring everyone together- crossing generational boundaries just like you cross map boundaries between areas. Little trinkets you bring between people. Stories you can read.
All of this told with a delightful bit of humour woven throughout the story. Even when you have some setbacks, they're never played up as something soul-crushing or causing our character despair- you or your friend are ready to keep walking forward. Determined.
The internet, in many ways, has made the world small. We're all a few clicks away from the worst in the world, and it feels like most games and media seek to capitalize on that for shock value and 'being realistic'. But that starts to miss the point of games- an outlet to dream, to see what COULD BE POSSIBLE.
Its not good to always wallow in clouds of negativity- I want to believe in my fellow peoples, that it IS possible for us to work together to build tomorrow better than the past we came from.
Be curious. Be kind. Be good. We are all in this together.
Nice, no real challenge but good to fill a calm afternoon.
Okay, that was adorable. Great puzzles, wonderfully cute art style, and a charming story!
Beautiful, enjoyed a lot.
very wholesome, a great puzzle game.
