CarX Street's handling is atrocious. Twenty minutes was more than enough. The racing lines and braking indicators are completely off, and every car feels like a dragster with two bicycle wheels on the front. Forget about taking any corner without slowing to a walking pace or tuning your car into a drift build. The available car selection is tiny; I couldn't find any of my three real-life cars, and even if I could, they'd almost certainly be locked behind paid, janky DLC. A complete waste of time.
AI are too aggressive no matter if they are on the side or behind, multiple times losing races due to them ramming on a u-turn and tight turns overall and even worse when they attempt overtaking
its a good game but the AI need serious attention to
Game is fun to just drive around and drift. Not much holding our attention though
This is what Forza Horizon should have been like i feel like ive made a worthy investment def slower paced racing (at least where im at) its just funky to get use to the drift mechanics since its just like mobile Fh5+NFS Heat= CarX Street... just be ready to grind a bit
dont add (essential) features, fix bugs or optimization, we need more useless dlc's yeeeeee. game's not even close to be finished but first things first pump paid dlc's.
Game runs worse than FH5 with worse graphics, just get a different game, its just a mobile game ported to PC
Great game but too many paid DLCs. I didn't expect every new update would be a paid DLC since I've already paid for the game and also purchased the two previous DLCs cmon guys you can do better than that.
Game was pretty good its first few months (except for the grind), now the devs don't know what they're doing anymore. Drifting is probably the most enjoyable part of the game (tandems online was peak for me) but now you got P2W DLC for that (gives you more angle on the DLC cars) and a lousy map DLC that could've been added for free. They are focusing more on diving further into the wallets of their remaining player base than trying to get news sales. In the long run its going to kill this game if not already. Im not going to go into the horrible AI that has had problems since launch. this game couldve been so good but was killed by its greedy devs.
Fun game. still needs a lot of work on areas, and maybe add some offroad racing like a rally themed racing and builds. also some tweaks for us casuals like difficulty settings. other then that drifting feels nice and fun in a game for once, and i love having a wicked fast "dodge" van.
I absolutely love this game. It has unmatched car customization, amazing cars, and the developers actually listen to the community. Oustanding game.
finish the game before dropping anymore DLC please, decent game but obviously needs some finishing touches and for some more actual content to be added that should be included in the game.
that aside, the game feels like how a drift game should feel, the upgrading and customization is how it should be coming from the previous games. but nothing wowed me too much about the game in terms of stuff to do and amount of cars to buy, the game felt a little empty. once the game is finished ill give it another try and change my review.
The games challenging which is what makes it so fun and makes winning feel rewarding. The dlc cars arent pay to win, i dont have any dlc cars and i have no problem winning my races, and earning enough money for new cars/upgrades. If you want a easy racing game that hands you everything 3 hours into playing than this game aint for you i guess.
The game itself is great and the devs are actively developing and fixing issues and adjusting the economy of the game. Which itself, is a great display of dedication and fan service. HOWEVER! I cannot f*cking get over the fact that the AI is just stupidly broken and made to just be unbeatable most of the time. On top of the fact that the traffic spawns and vehicle physics in a crash are also made in such a way to annoy the player. Just get to the Western Sierra Elite Races and you'll know what I'm talking about. :)
So unless the devs adjust the difficulty and traffic in such a way to not screw over to the player or have unfair advantages through rubber banding and bull sh!t difficulty levels, I cannot recommend this game. Like sure, in every other aspect, for what it is and how much it costs, you could consider it. But if you're like me and just wanna get through the SP content and maybe race online here and there and find randoms to tandem with, all just to chill and relax ... then you're far better off just grabbing any other racing game because this will totally flip you off.
It was fun from the start, but then they updated it. Now, AI cars are like trucks on the road that can easy ram you of the road. You're like feather when they crash into you. And when you try to ram them, they are glued to the road. The AI is too easy often but sometimes they are really hard, not good or bad. At least it should be fair, they shouldn't be glued to the road when you are not.
And when you change the engine, you have to repurchase the previous one you don't keep them, and all your upgraded parts disappear, even if you buy the same engine again all the parts are gone. You should keep the parts and engine, you wouldn't throw them away IRL. And you can't save tunes or setups for the car, nor can you save different liveries.
There’s also poor optimization on my main PC (i7-9700K, RTX 2080 Super, 16GB RAM). I get decent FPS, but on my laptop (Ryzen-7 5800H, RTX 3070, 16GB RAM), I can hit around 100 FPS when standing still, but when I move it fluctuates from 42-91 FPS.
What's good? I like the handling of the cars, and the follow camera is really good, the map is good 7.8/10, The graphics are pretty good. Car sounds are not good but thats same with CarX Drift, atleast they match a bit of the real car.
The game is dog. AI just ram you off the road. Their cars weigh 50 million tones and don’t move but when they hit me? It’s like my cars a plastic bag.
Awful game
This game is pretty good but there are some things that carx technologies should add/change:
-Price tag- maybe lower a little or just wait for a discount;
-Car licenses- This game doesn't have car brands licenses, making it harder for people to know the real names of the cars and they look empty without badges;
-Car exhaust tune- currently, pretty much any car shots flames, witch is kinda cool sometimes, but it is unrealistic and it would be cool if you could change that;
-Car sounds- some cars actually sound good, but the majority sounds bad and unrealistic;
-Dlcs- It is stupid that a part of the map is a dlc (sunset speedway) , and I think It should be included in the full game;
-Online gameplay- They should add room lists to make it easier to play with random people (public rooms), like in carxdrift;
-Cameras- The chase camera as lack of speed sensation , witch could be improved by changing the fov of the camera depending on the speed of the car;
-Console support- they should add this game to console and bring cross-play to the game.
-New cars-add some cars from previous games, like the BMW e30 , Audi rs6, between many others;
-Workshop maps and crash physics- Okay that is asking for too much, but it certainly would be cool (they can use the carxdrift racing 3 crash physics).
Love this game so much, I m addicted to it. For me it is better than the new Need for Speed. because there is no fancy stuff, just raw street racing.
The cars in this game are horrible. The Ai for the drivers is literally trash they randomly will turn especially towards the end of race paths. This game is subpar at best.
Game is fun, tires are very important to BREAKING AND CORNERING. This is street racing and the traffic is on during races also the npc drivers will bump and pit you. Tuning is very important as well.
the game wont launch! no help from devs! reinstalled verified files! installed on different ssd! running ryzen 9 and rtx 3070!game worked fine before update now it wont launch at all! give me a refund!
I have played many racing games in my time and this game is by far the worst one yet. The whole open world part of the game is really fun. The customization is very good but the actual races them selves are horrable. The other AI cars that you are racing against ram you and put you off the road, and dont get me started on the traffic. The traffic swerves into you even when you are not racing so I end up turning it off anyways which ruins the immersion. If you like having a solid mental state of mind whil;e playing a video game than do not buy this.
I LOVE THIS GAME BUT the new races they added in are way to hard the ai straight throws you off the damn road by a tap then the drift events are shit cause they maker he score way to high. Ive played racing games all my life and Ive never had this many problems with ai or score to complete a race. FIX YOUR F***ING BOT AND SCORE SO ITS ACTUALLY PLAYABLE
What's with the AI? They remind me of Wreckfest and FlatOut. AI keeps crashing into oncoming traffic and they are not affected?? They crash into you, you spin out and you lose. Better play the earlier Drift Racing instead of this wannabe NFS... Not for a casual player...
Terribly optimized so runs at over 120fps but still stutters ever 30 seconds. lie right to you face with first set of races. says you need to complete 15 races which is already absurd but after the 15 races you have to do a ton more for no reason. save you money and just buy carx drift racing cause this aint it.
Not like Carx drift at all. Just buy NFS heat, its signifigantly higher quality, an actual engaging storyline and better physics. a waste of 20 bucks
Got potential but needs more improvements
Positives
+ Map with lots of terrain varieties (City, Highway, Docks, Mountain Road)
+ Good selection of customizations for each car. Lots of well known kits are available in this game
+ A garage system for storing your cars. This add a bit of immersion to the game
Negatives
- AI needs balancing, they stick to the racing line like a glue, when you race them and cross their racing line the AI will force you out of their way often making your car spin out. Catching up with them after a spin/crash is also out of question since they also sped up when you use nitrous. Forcing you to restart when it happened
- Lack of narrative/some sort of story. After the intro narrative there is nothing resembling something similar throughout the game. Not even in text form
Me and my friend both have two different wheels and even when you invert the petals... The car doesn't move. I don't recommend this game. Very disappointing.
I loved the game at first, it just becomes too repetitive. The grind is heavy and not very rewarding. It's got pay to win DLC now. Concurrent player count is down to 800-1500 though so you shouldn't have a hard time getting on their little leader board.. I wouldn't waste my time or money again.
Love you, bye
Smartphone game (Unity 3D engine) got released on PC and requires SSD. Unfortuntely everything about it feels like a cheap mobile game, not a real PC game.
It's a bit rough around the edges but as a driving sandbox type of game where you can just go for a drive on some interesting roads and have fun with the cars without the pressure of performing at your highest race ready standard I enjoy it. I love rally but I don't always have the energy to race, and what's the point of taking it easy if the only metric in the game is how fast you went or what place you end up in. I used to fill the gap with Forza Horizon 4 but I'm enjoying this at the moment. Just a shame I have to drive on the right hand side. But drifting around being a loon in an MX-5 hasn't got old yet. For anyone with a wheel, it's not perfect. I'd really like if it didn't stall the car in manual gearbox when using the handbrake. It can be worked around by dropping the clutch but this isn't true to life and I'd rather not form bad habits since I drive in real life. I hope they will continue to develop the driving experience for wheel users. Also it could do with some more control over the force feedback because I have a 20Nm wheel and wheel snap and impacts can be pretty harsh and scary at times. I'd like to control road feel, suspension feel, and aligning torque seperately... stuff like that would be great. Desperately needed is the ability to look left and right in cockpit and hood views. Alsobeing able to turn off auto look in cockpit and lock the view to straight ahead like it is on hood view. Really hard to control a car when the camera moves independently.
Don't know what they did to the AI, but the recent updates have made this game very unenjoyable and frustrating to play. The hyper aggression of the AI is really frustrating, as well as the fact that the AI cars have no problem knocking you around the track while if you try to push them it's as if they're glued to the track. Then they have some stupid "catch up" mechanic going on, where you can be Nitrous boosting next to the AI and they just accelerate at the same exact rate as you do no matter what. For example, if you begin a race and don't use nitrous, the AI jump into the lead. If you begin the same race and immediately use nitrous boost, the AI still jump to the same lead. It as if the races are set up that the AI are going to start in the lead no matter if you use nitrous or not, there is no difference. Then you try to regain nitrous by building your meter only to have the AI slam into you repeatedly and reset your progress, you shouldn't lose your meter progress when the AI rear-ends you.
i love this game. its honestly one of the most fun racing games ive played in a minute. the races drifting and customization is everything you want and ask for in a racing game. BUT the amount of glitches broken AI missing textures fucked up parts in the road and so forth are actually ridiculous sometimes. to start a lil background on who CarX is. they are basically a company that took the idea of many others and built it into one thing aka stole everyones ideas and turned them into a reality all in one. aka they stole shit. next and my only MAJOPR gripe is the AI. its IMPOSSIBLE for them to fuck up. they hit a wall and just continue driving SIDEWAYS???? yet they feel like a brick wall themself. if they touch you it feels like thanos just shoved his thumb right up your ass.
TLDR if you are willing to deal with broken bullshit AI that halts all progress on progress and can avoid/ignore certain glitches its 100 percent worth it BUT ONLY if you can do what i just specified.
The games optimisation is bad, i run 30 frames with a 4060 and a 9th gen ryzen cpu
DON't BUY THIS GAME
The grind in this game completely ruins the fun! The time it takes to get xp and money just so you can have fun with a drift car isn't worth it or any car. I bought both car dlc's to try and counteract this but it doesn';t solve the problem.
I'll say it once again, don't buy this game, you will stop playing it shortly because of how bored you will get with the slow progression.
honestly this game is pretty bad overall. It really doesnt run very well at all. and the voice acting is AI, and bad AI at that. On top of being written by someone with a childs grasp of english,
fun game if you just want to play multiplayer and drive/drift around the map, but the AI races are AWFUL. Every single race the other cars are going to ATTACK you like this is Death Race and theyre trying to get out of prison! The worst part is no matter how hard YOU try their cars will NEVER SPIN OUT, literally glued to the ground. So if you want to buy this game for racing purposes this game is NOT for you and i would recommend something else like Asetto Corsa
Still handles like crap, runs poorly and looks like a 2015 mobile game. Stay clear
Good game, but its falls between the arcade, and realism. For arcade, there is too much options that you need to tune, or you slow. But the phisics is somewhat weird, so its not that realistic. Overall its not bad, for cruse in the city. But I dont like the races, the upgrades itself its not enough, I need spend hours and days, to get the last bit out of a car.(and becouse its not so realistic, and a lot misscalculating in top speed, its hard to get what you want.) The most annoying thing, if you swap engine, or transmission, all your upgrades dissapear, and if you want to swap back, you need to buy again, upgrade again. Its need to be fixed.
Awesome racing game all around with fun races, map, dense traffic, AI races or online features, you can plug in your wheel and pedals, you have to manage gas tank and tire wear all while keeping it fun since there are gas stations body shops, apartments, the list is just all good stuff to dive in and have fun. The cherry it is visually appealing from the driver cockpit to the streets and city around you.
i love racing games, always have. i was raised playing them and ive played pretty much any racing game that ive seen. car x street is the new addition to my collection. previously car x drift was a great entry into what they can offer as a driving experience. safe to say, it was a let down.
but let me start with some good points, the graphics are great to be fair. the map has plenty of detail but clearly most of it went into the cars, which i completely agree with. the customisation, although confusing at first and pretty expensive, is great. but thats mostly where features are implemented from carxdrift.
now for the rest. Im currently running a 7900XTX and a 7800X3D for reference. the game stutters horribly and no FPS software seems to agree with each other with the game. its clearly not optimised well. so graphically, it looks great, but when you start moving or have a cutscene, it is horrible. when i first loaded up, my first bit of gameplay was non existent. it crashed right as i was about to drive the Porsche. from there on everything kinda sucked. i played with both a wheel and a controller to see what it was like. its disappointing. the driving experience was slow and not even arcade-like for an arcade game. and its not a sim racing game. even then it didnt feel like that either. after driving for a bit, i decided to switch it up and hop in a different car. why did they make it so annoying to do so? 3 cars per house? and if you want to purchase a car, you have to go through multiple loading sequences that are longer than any other game ive played. map size is not an excuse, if im playing the crew motorfest, i hardly have to wait. problem is, its not just for choosing cars. its for a lot of features which is rather annoying when you have to spend a few minutes of menu time just to sort out 1 car.
the driving option menu is also a love hate relationship. i love that they included it, switching to auto or turning off traction control is a great feature, but its so iffy and inconsistent. sometimes you cant even tell if it has changed something until you realise the car isnt driving like it should. you have to look for everything and take your eyes off the game to see if those are enabled. im sure after a while it becomes second nature but there are plenty of ways it could be improved. a simple colour indication when you switch that is eye catching. or an audio queue saying TC on or Manual on. or just a click sound. an indication in general would be nice.
now for the map. its pretty well sized but it just feels like too much. you drive around and it can either feel like you are moving so fast or that you are getting nowhere.
racing is also a bit odd. i understand its come from a drift game so its not going to be perfect but braking can feel non-existent more than it should. i can be slamming on the brakes and a car will slow down like an old lady in a parking lot. snails pace. responsiveness isnt too great either. some cars known for their handling, have little to no control. its like even in a race, the game wants me to angle up and drift rather than slow and take a clean turn. its possible to do it but not even i like to drift all the time. and at the end of the race you can either go through the longest and slowest rewards sequence or skip it all and feel like you got nothing. wheres the enjoyment in either? theres not even a middle-ground for it
so overall, the customisation and visuals seem great. pretty much the same as carxdrift but better graphics. but the gameplay aspect just doesnt feel fun. it feels slow and lacking in a lot of areas id rate it a solid 4/10. i love my customisation and graphics but the enjoyment for actually playing the game is just rare to feel.
Nah, this is cheeks. 70% positive? How? You're lying to yourselves.
My immediate issue with this game was the driving/handling model. Cars seem to either be super slidy or have insane understeer. I bought the deluxe edition, and it came with some Lamborghini. Hypercars are supposed to be fast and nimble. They're built for speed. So why is it that this Lamborghini cannot make a simple off-ramp turn on the highway going at high speeds? Are the physics and driving model just that bad? Is it this seasonal snow map weather for the holidays? Well I checked online and the sentiment is, by default, there's understeer on a lot of cars and you have to "tune them." I'm sorry, but that's cope. You're telling me that instead of the car being a fun platform by default that I can tune to my liking (think Forza or Need for Speed even), I instead have to tune the car so it performs as it should. That's not customization. That's working around bad design to make the game playable.
Even then, even if that wasn't the case... there's too much mobile game-itis to warrant this. Events already felt unwinnable. Even in a car that operates efficiently for the type of event you're doing, it doesn't seem like the high placement goals are obtainable without better cars and/or upgrades. Like even with the deluxe cars I was only able to get 3rd place on most events. With the starter car, you could expect a placement of either 6th or 7th place. I was worried that this game was going to be a massive time sink because cars/upgrades are expensive and payouts are garbage. But, okay. I decide to check out tuning. Maybe I'm blind but I saw no option to do tweaks to specific things on the car. It seems like it's all straight upgrades you have to spend your money on. Fine. I go to the tire shop because that's separate and that's when I noticed there was a percentage meter on my current tires. Then it hit me. There's tire durability. You have to pay money to maintain your tires. Then I noticed there was a fuel gauge. You have to pay money to fill the tank too. I wanted to check my car only to realize that to change your car on the fly you have to PAY A FEE to swap it. Everything in the game's economy is designed to drain you of your money. You're essentially forced to pay bills.
F*ck that. Refunded.
This game did a rug-pull on anyone who purchased their deluxe edition. To remove promised content after the fact is disgusting behavior, and should not be tolerated. I am beyond disappointed. Do better.
CarX Street is probably the most frustrating racing game I've played in a long time due to one main problem, the AI is horrible, not skill wise, design wise. They have a set path that they will always follow (they take corners exactly the same every time no matter what). They will make no effort to brake before hitting you, they will not try to avoid you, and they don't seem to receive any speed loss from most collisions with other cars, as opposed to the players car which will lose power the second you tap another bumper. They are also consistently so much faster than you, that it is simply impossible to catch up past a certain distance which depending on the race was as short as ~10-20 yards. There is no "catch up" mechanic, making the reset car system entirely useless in the format of any event (if you lose your drift you might as well reset as well, the scores are near impossible and it took me, a veteran racing game player that's 100% completed most need for speeds as well as Forza 4/5, the crew etc. upwards of 20-30 plus tries to complete) This is all to say, that if you miss a timing or god for bid spin out or crash, the race is instantly over. I enjoy a challenge, and honestly, this wouldn't bother me if it weren't for the AI forcing my restart 75% of the time. There are more frustrating things, performance sucks, I got 60-80fps on medium in 1440p on an RTX 3070 & AMD 5800x3D, and the game simply does not look good enough to warrant that level of performance. Launching cars is a massive pain in the ass, it depends on the car whether it will bog or not on launch, and I tried so many different setups on cars to see if I could get them to launch any better, and it just felt like at the end of the day, even if I spent 400k on suspension, tires, transmission, AWD swap etc, it only came down to the car, and that just isn't satisfying when it takes a long time to save up money. This (like many of the problems) wouldn't really exist if the AI wasn't impossible to catch up to, but I felt that in some of the particularly short races, it was even more impossible to catch up when I couldn't get a good launch no matter what I did from both a throttle pressure/individual skill standpoint and car mods.
Now the good, car customization is great, it's super satisfying and the many options are great to see. I come to racing games for what I can do to the cars, and there is no shortage of modifications here. The gas station mechanic swapping out different types of tires and fuel is great, the entire system is fairly intuitive and while it is an annoyance to run out of gas or tire in the middle of a race, I found the ability to swap my tires on the fly cool and would welcome that change to any game like this. The drifting mechanics are great, as you would expect from a company whose previous game was only drifting. Some cars sound amazing while others don't, high redlining V6s like the R35 GTR sound incredible while V8s like the Mustangs and Mopar's leave more to be desired. The first-person camera felt really good, and that's not always the case, I felt I had a much better connection to the car and could feel where it was at all times that way, and combined with the interior customization it makes for a great experience for First person drivers like myself. There are good and bad tracks, but I would say the majority are enjoyable. I like the wealth of race series options, and it feels like there is a decent balance of race types and speed classes. The open world isn't bad, that is to say, it didn't blow my mind, as I mentioned the game doesn't look great by any measure, but it's very enjoyable to drive around in.
This is a long review, and a tough one, because I really want to like this game, but in its current state, it is a nightmare to play and will frustrate the living hell out of you. I will return to this game in a few months if they update much of the game (as they are planning to), and will update accordingly, but at this time, I cannot recommend it to anyone other than people like me who've played most if not all of the available racing games at my disposal.
This game would be so much more fun if the computer racers didn't ram you every single corner. The game is pretty realistic, giving you options for legitimate car tuning (suspension, engine, transmission, etc.) MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT: The computer drivers in the races are the most aggressive out of ANY game I have ever played. You can't do a single race with out a computer competitor ramming you off course forcing you to restart. It makes no sense. The only thing I can think of is that the developers sat in a room laughing trying to figure out how they can ruin the game they just completed. I just don't understand. Why is that? I bought this game as a "Simulator" and it is pretty legit EXCEPT for the fact that every race is a bumper car competition. I bought this to test my skill over the preset computers and other players. It not only requires skill to beat the computers, but also knowledge of where they are going to hit you. Its wild. This is the only reason I wouldn't recommend it. Atleast allow some of us players to turn off collision with the computers.
The game feels so soulless. Render distance is terrible, seeing cars, and map rendering in front of your eyes kills immersiveness. The cars you are racing against feel like just a brick even the club bosses. The boss had a mini shortcut scene and didn't feel anything special besides that. City feels empty. Optimization is not terrible but for these graphics it is bad. I wanted to give chance to the game until the first boss but it just feel repetitive for nothing. I am kind a person who likes grinding though but even for me this was boring a lot.
A lot of players compare this with Need for Speed Unbound and finding this better but I completely disagree. It was feeling much more alive and it was way more fun. Even though Unbound's physics are much more arcade, this games is far away from simulation too. I am playing such games for pure fun with my gamepad. If I want simulation games I would play some serious ones with my sim rig.
Heads up there is no offline mode and this game does not tell you that up front in the description. Played the game for a little while everything was kosher took it with me to play during the holidays where I have no access to internet and didnt think anything of it for a singleplayer mode which is seperate from onlineplay. Met with a message on the loading screen saying cant connect to streetnet servers push a button to exit the game.
Had to check the name of the game again cause I thought it was diablo 3 for a minute with needing online to play singleplayer.
Shitty ass game, annoying car traffic, annoying opponent, trash rubber band, bad optimalization. 1/10
Race AI/CPU/whatever they use are on rails and use an entirely different physics engine than the rest of the game. Does not make the racing fun or competitive in solo player.
Don't bother.
Yes, I know its just a mobile game ported onto steam but its just plain boring, All the cars feel the same and its like the type of game you play for 2 hours and forget about it. Not to mention the DLC'S are absolutely shit. I got the deluxe edition of the game and ended up refunding it 30 minutes later. The physics are HORRIFYING. Overall, 3.5/10. I wouldn't bother.
worst AI bots ever. Dying to follow racing lines, will run you off the road if u are in its way. Doesnt care about anything whatsoever , just like how the devs chose this bot programming.
