Racing game fans are brutal. If it isnt Forza Horizon, they hate it. This is a perfectly fun, chill street racing game. Customization is GREAT (truly top tier), cruising the map is fun, and 1.3 massively improved racing in endgame. The progression is slowish but rewarding. There are other activities to do to progress other than racing, like car deliveries. If you play GTA for the cars, you will like this. And as of writing, it is on sale for 10 bucks... I will say, this should be Early Access based on how much they are working on it and making changes.
This game could be so much more. The economy is terrible and takes too much grinding to build a basic car. Waste of money imo and I had high hopes for this one.
Welcome to the game that makes you pay twice for the main vehicle shown on the cover of the game, and breaks its promises (as well as steam TOS) of including a DLC for deluxe pass owners. These are not serious devs
This is the best racing game ive played in a long time, early forza horizon + early need for speed with a huge map and crazy attention to detail in the cars. this game got me back into car games, and my wheel out of the closet. Best racing game out, looking forward to getting all dlc
I find it hilarious how the CarX dev team keeps releasing those fake update patches. And let’s not even talk about the scam they pulled with the DLC. When CarX Street first launched, it was $10 for the standard edition and $20 for the full game with add-ons. Now there’s a DLC I have to pay extra for? Wow, these devs must really need that bread, huh?
Anyway, every time I check out the updates they mention, I see absolutely nothing new. Sure, the game looks great, and the cars sound and feel amazing to drive, but that’s literally all it has going for it. LMFAO, try racing against the AI or NPCs—one tap, and you’re out. The devs claimed to have fixed these issues in the last update, but why lie when players can easily see for themselves that nothing has changed?
I’ve put about 20 hours into this game, 5 of those on this account, and there’s nothing new to show for it. Their updates are fake. The game doesn’t change, and the issues persist. It feels like when players uninstall the game, the devs panic and drop patch notes to lure them back in, pretending the game is being fixed to give it another chance.
For example, I recently re-downloaded CarX Street to try their new "Public_Test" beta, and guess what? It’s the exact same as the regular game. The only difference is that my previous save data is gone, so I’m forced to start from scratch. Sure, the car-to-wheel feedback has improved slightly, but that’s about it.
Losing your progress in the beta makes no sense, especially when the game hasn’t changed at all. How does a beta like this erase a player’s save data when the gameplay is identical? My advice: don’t waste $20 on a game run by developers like this. They’ll tell you, "We’ve updated the game, check it out!" but when you do, there’s absolutely nothing new to see.
Game would be fun if I could play it but there's a horrible issue that causes the game to freeze for about half a second to a second every minute or so. Never had this issue with any other racing game or otherwise and no setting inside or outside the game will fix it.

Remove the scam mobile monetization shit from the paid Steam version! On the outside looking in, it appears the devs are lazy AF and left features designed to make them more money in the FTP mobile version in the paid Steam version of the game, creating frustration when swapping parts. It's so incredibly frustrating! Please fix it; I'd happily advocate for this game! I'm not happy with how the devs handled the DLC situation. It doesn't look well on them. They said, "Hey, let's port this over to Steam with as little effort as possible so our profit margins will remain as large as possible."
About to ask for a refund, cannot play with all this stuttering, why is there so much stuttering?!
This brings me back to the good ol' days of Need For Speed Underground.
This is a $15 game, not a $60 AAA game.
The game isn't even that bad ; People just like to whinge for the sake of it nowadays.
Its an alright racing game. Its great for "vibes" or whatever but its not a game to take seriously. Like at all. The physics are mediocre at best, and you WILL have to spend a considerable amount of time tuning, researching, and tuning again to get a car that is worth using. The multiplayer is basically dead in my experience, but the time trials are a bit of fun to get some end game currency. Prepare to exploit like crazy for those top spots though, as is typical for racing games these days.
I was going to recommend this game until the DLC problem that is mentioned in other reviews. It is a ported mobile game after all, so these kinds of practices aren't unusual. Still disappointing though.
If you're curious and the game is on sale... maybe. If you're looking for your next favorite racing game to sink all of your time into, look elsewhere.
Goods :
Vehicle Customization: One of the standout features of CarX Street is its depth of car customization. Players can tweak almost every aspect of their car's performance and appearance, from engine tuning to body kits. This adds a lot of replay value as you fine-tune your ride to suit your racing style.
Graphics and Environments: The game offers a visually appealing experience with well-designed cars and environments. The streets feel alive with a night-time city atmosphere, and the lighting effects give a realistic touch to racing under different conditions.
Driving Physics: The handling and physics of the cars are realistic, offering a good balance between arcade and simulation styles. This makes the game accessible to casual players while still satisfying those who want a bit more challenge in how they drive.
Open World: The open-world aspect is fun, offering a variety of races and challenges scattered across the city. You can choose to explore, participate in races, or simply drive around and enjoy the environment.
Bads:
Ever since the recent updates of newest cars is unobtainable and has to be paid to get.
Bought the Deluxe Edition, was told it comes with Deluxe cars and "Sunset Speedway DLC"..
Well they removed that. the part i paid extra for.. insane.. and unacceptable.
ive never been more annoyed with a game i had enjoyed. this is not okay. ever.
L Company. BOZO CEO.
if they fix this ill change my review. i can be bought to an extent lol
Scammy business model from Forza Horizon. You buy a Deluxe edition, they promise to include future DLCs, later they change the description and sell the DLCs separately. Besides that, the car sounds are horrible, AI behaves like you are not even there and drives straight into you. Music is good but not much variety so you listen to the same songs over and over. Car customization is pretty good but it cost way too much to upgrade and customize a car. Handling is horrible if you don't buy the best tires and you do need to replace tires and refill gas.

how the little has become the rulers
this series of games started life on a mobile phone and now look at them
well done is all i can say
this game is fantastic i love it there is literally everything i would expect from
an open world racer
the cars are stunning and much more in touch with the real car scene and not all stupid
super cars , albeit there is some in here
the level of customisation is class leading .. you even have fuel levels ..
these sort of games live and die on the levels of inclusion and content , so far this seems great
graphics is good however there is lots of pop in and graphical limits on passing cars and buildings sometimes
i get that this is too aid the smooth running of the game ,
audio is good very arcade like some realism but not at the levels of forza but nowhere near bad its still very good
the world is decently large with quite a lot too do - although the voice acting seems too just vanish after the first part
and not return so far .
now for the bad
the frame rate is all over the place one min its 100 plus then for no apparent reason its 12 then 40 then 20 then 70
this does affect game-play and does cause clipping and glitching ,
the DLC .. oh boy .. why was this such a mess on release and still why is some of it NOT included with the DELUXE
version of the game ,
the DLC is literally P2W for the drift cars ( I get that its a time saver too have them )
but people do don't buy it are at a disadvantage
saying that the DLC is worth the money and i have bought it and not regretted it ..maybe it should just be inclusive with
the DELUXE version of the game
overall this is a very good game and forza should watch out , if this company keep making games like this they will be
biting the heels of AAA very soon ... for now they are VERY indie-AA
9/10 recommended
controllers tested
xbox one - perfect
xbox 360 - pretty good some alterations
playstation 3 - pretty good
xinput - decent from the start some alterations needed
g25 wheel - perfect and literally better than most games
steam deck tested ( does not run well at all fps all over the place graphics are poor text is microscopic ) shame
Bought the Deluxe Edition on the 29th and was denied DLC keys because I didn't buy it between 10 a.m and 12 p.m...A two fucking hour window...When did it state we'd be screwed over on the deluxe edition? I do enjoy the game and It is worth the money but my review will stay negative and I will not support this game until this issue is resolved for the entire community. Can we have a game that doesn't turn on its player base? Could of at least lubed us up before you fucked everyone.
Edit: All of you who popped in here that got like an hour of game time to post a quick positive review and get the devs to look better need to quit the dick riding. This is a clear violation of Steam guidelines and who gives a fuck if it's 10 bucks. You want to let people get away with blatant false advertisement and walk all over you, be my guest. But just "dealing with it" and defending a scam isn't going to bring a well needed wake up call to all these scummy game devs. Go ahead and act like being lied to.
bought the game when it actually said all the dlc was included, noticed them change the description when dlc was released....
commented on numerous posts about it in forums, people said i was crazy and that they never included the dlc.
current day: latest update says
on the release date, August 29, 2024, it was planned for the Sunset Speedway DLC to be part of the Deluxe Edition, with the total price of the bundle set at $29,99.

If you purchased the Deluxe Edition on August 29 between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM (UTC+3), please contact our support team with proof of purchase. We will provide you with a key for the Sunset Speedway DLC.
i bought the game outside of the two hour period in which this "error" happened that they blame steam for, this error they say caused the description of the dlc to not reflect what you were buying, in that it did NOT say you got the other dlc with the deluxe version.
yet the people who bought the game during the 2 hours when the description didn't include those dlcs, are getting the dlcs.
meanwhile those of us who actually bought the game when the description said it included those future dlc, ARE NOT GETTING THE DLC.
Multiple issues on this game that not only aren't getting fixed, but getting worse. Game is on an NVMe SSD at reccomendation, specs are very compatible with the game, yet despite this after the launch of the game and multiple updates the game degraded from being stable to the point i cannot get a stable 60 FPS on low. The dev is also scummy and playing with their customers by not being clear with DLC at all, as I was lead to believe the Sunset Speedway DLC would be included with the deluxe edition only to find they released it with another seperate price tag. I have been sufficiently lied to at several times and I am betrayed as a consumer.
Steam shot down my refund request. Don't fall for the same shit I did.
UPDATE: Coming back to update I've been talking to Steam all day, and they essentially just closed my help request after i talked to three different people. They'll just refer you back to the devs who obviously dont give an ass that they can just scam their customers.
Yeah to anybody reading this? Don't bother purchasing. Maybe if enough of us yell about this it'll change. But not know. Everyone's okay with this as it right now XD
would have recommended this game but now they are throwing paid dlc at us that was supposed to be included in the deluxe edition. i get youre a mobile game company but mobile style paid dlc antics dont work on the pc market, also the game runs like ass, pop in and stutters everywhere.
The game is really good. But...
The Sunset Speedway DLC was initially included in the Deluxe edition on Steam.
Total scam.
My expectations were already low going into this game, but wow it's bad.
The physics are mediocre at best. The rubber-banding is disgusting. The economy is atrocious. And the overall experience is just bad.
It's a re-branded mobile game at best, and flip-asset scam at worst.
And that's not even mentioning the actual scam the developers committed.
The Sunset Speedway DLC was initially included in the Deluxe edition, but the removed the Steam page and remade it, and are making us buy it again. Which is not only a scam, but is against Steam TOS. I will be talking to Steam Support about this.
I would not recommend this game to anyone, even casual or beginner players.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
This game got from good, to bad, to worse. You finish the campaign in ...20 hours, 30 hours. Then you have nothing to earn more money on. They delay it and now they add a DLC map for money? Dude if it was 1 euro, it's not about the cost of it, it's about the idea. How scummy are you to do this? I uninstalled it and I hope the studio goes down.
Its a great game if you just want to waste some time. The grind isnt bad, until you get later in game, where the dev decided he just wanted to take all the fun out of it.
Dev is just a lying pos that makes some additions players want, but also makes other things worse in the process.
Also i got robbed of leaderboard time trial rewards, and emails get ignored.
tandems, touge, fun!
drift in C4 cars and you'll meet great drivers.
-Add carbon fiber parts/material -improve optimizations cuz I still get stutters occasionally
On Steam Deck, it stutters. Do not trust the ratings on ProtonDB. I would consider it unplayable primarily because of the stutters every 10 seconds. Keeping this aside, menus felt clunky and slow. I wouldn't recommend it for SD owners
Note: Custom Proton GE works much better compared to Proton Experimental (in case anyone wants to test it out regardless)
cant even play without a connection. The game is dead / dying.
Actually make a real offline mode. Like please...
Would not buy again.
Great game in concept but I can't suggest anyone to pay $20 for a mobile port with 10+ hours of grinding the worse AI races to get a car that handles somewhat decent. Then once you go online you are met with we-mod hackers that will run a clapped out civic with modded money and win every race. Not to mention online mode - at the time of writing this has no online traffic so you are in a WHOLE CITY almost completely alone. Does not feel right and gets insanely boring very very fast. Anyone who says otherwise probably using we-mod or running the same drift line on repeat at the hospital as if they were just lobotomized and was told this is your new life.
After purchasing car x street deluxe edition I was having quite a grand time, and then the drift cars pack dlc was added ! Having purchased the deluxe edition and it being included I thought surely I would receive it, very excited I was as I would get the new p2w parts !!!
Well, then I log into steam and I see I don’t have the drift cars dlc I am very confused as it was included in the deluxe edition.
I went ahead and opened a support ticket with steam to have this resolved, first they claim I never brought the deluxe edition, to which I did and showed receipts, then after days of back and forth I check again and they have asked for proof that it is even included in the deluxe edition !!!
They have removed it from the deluxe edition now??
Anyway as I was prepared I did have screenshots of it in the deluxe edition. I have since sent these to steam and am waiting a response. Will update review once I get a resolution. This is disgraceful service by both the dev team and steam.
Edit, after back and forth with steam over and over they refused to help me ! this is against the law in my state but i guess they dont care?
Edit 2, Turns out when I initially brought the deluxe pack it was going to include the “Sunset Raceway DLC” but they have since removed that too and our now charging extra for it. And had been removed from library/so forth
Edit 3, tried even reaching directly out to dev team, no response at all.
Good driving and customization in an empty world.
No witty introduction or quotes. That's simply my conclusion after pretty much two full playthroughs of CarX Street. I wouldn't have played this game nearly that much if I didn't like it. Indeed, there are lots of things I like. But I still struggle to fully recommend it...
Presentation
This game has its roots in a mobile game, which can be seen in some UI and gameplay elements. The actual graphics and art style are fairly good: nice and clean art direction, though at times a bit too clean. The city really pops at night, its coloured billboards and neons a treat for the eyes. Car models are a mixed bag, with interior modelling and textures suffering in some examples. Expect a handful of annoying visual artifacts, whether it be smearing and ghosting from TAA, or aliasing from the other AA methods. Photo mode is hilariously basic with no options to adjust motion blur, depth of field, or anything you can really think of.
There are about 23 songs to listen to. Variety is a little weak, and none of the tracks either stand out on their own, so the soundtrack ends up repetitive pretty quickly. Car engine noises are extremely inconsistent: some vehicles are alright, others have weird pitch, and several more are extremely grating or completely ill-fitting. There's blatant AI voice acting in the prologue... I turned off all dialogue and subtitles within 5 seconds of being granted control, and didn't feel like I missed anything.
Performance and stability
On high graphical settings, 1440p resolution, and a Ryzen 9 3900X, 64GB RAM, RTX 3070, Windows 10 64bit system, I mostly had a 60fps experience. However, a good chunk of the time it was also in the high 40s-low 50s, which felt quite less smooth but still playable. I can confirm the reports of stuttering, even when the game is installed on an SSD, but in my experience they were very infrequent and tended to be just one large spike per session. With that, you've been warned.
Primary loop
You're a street racer, freshly landed in the cleverly named "Sunset City." I'm pleased to say that, on the driving front, CarX Street is quite good. You can throw around cars by their inertia, break traction in most any way you can reasonably think of, yet never feel fully out of control even in the fastest of drifts. I spent equal lengths of time on gamepad and on keyboard, and never felt like I lost finesse even on the ol' arrow keys or WASD. You can quickly toggle on-and-off some assists like automatic gear shifts or a traction control, to minimize wheelspin, which is also helpful. What's much less useful is the presence of some permanently-on assists, which make extremely tight low-speed drifts and spins way harder than needed. You can fiddle with some assist sliders in the options menu, but they don't change much if anything. Otherwise, pretty good driving feel.
Secondary loop
The map is open from the start, with roads and points of interest to discover. Peppered around the world are gas stations, tuning and visual shops, car dealerships and houses. Exploration is incentivized with minor cash gains and collectible wrecks, which can unlock extra cars from the dealership. Tyre wear and fuel depletion are modelled in a simple manner, so it makes sense to pay the ol' pump a visit fairly frequently. Depletion rates aren't too bad, and you can mitigate them through driving habits and various vehicle upgrades like larger fuel tanks. "Sports" fuel is a noobie trap and WILL bankrupt you in the early game, for little perceived benefit.
There's a lot of variety in terrain and road layouts. The main city is PACKED with interchanges, overpasses, side streets, parking garages - almost everything you'd want from a major urban environment! To the west are winding mountain passes aching for some tight drifts, and over to the north are long, sweeping bends through the hillside settlements. Its overall size tends towards the compact end, but the map is pretty much perfect for gameplay (if not quite realistic)...
...Which hurts even more when the actual race courses barely take advantage of it. Most circuits are two block-wide circles at most, laps often concluding in about a minute. Many sprints are especially egregious, taking not even a minute to complete. Potential shines through in the few races that carry you for longer distances and at varied speeds, but everything tends to blur together pretty quickly - there's just not enough event variety. The AI is mostly a pushover: while they have an advantage in collissions, they can be intimidated off the ideal path if you're close enough, and rubberband in your favour.
You gain currency slowly by just driving cleanly, drifting and doing various stunts. You win more from the freeroam quick challenges, and a lot more (relatively speaking) by winning club events. That money then can go into upgrading and personalizing your car. There's a surprisingly in-depth tuning system, allowing you to change the rev limit, torque curve, transmission losses, weight distribution, steering angle, wheel offsets... Huge plus for gearheads, despite some baffling ommissions that only car enthusiasts might care about. Similar story for the visual side. Body kits for days, but you can't mix and match fenders, and lots of body parts are locked behind specific choices or "require extension". Bah.
Tertiary loop
So what do you drive and race towards? Good question, honestly. There are some 11 clubs to race in, each club with its own required car class and rating. Clubs take between 15 and 19 races to complete, and outside of a neat little cutscene at the start of the final race in each, it's practically the same thing across them all. The only differences are that three clubs only focus on drifting, while the rest are straightforward circuits and sprints. Extremely repetitive. Beating a club unlocks elite events, which are infinitely replayable but otherwise IDENTICAL races from the club - you just get a handful of extra Streetcoin™ and then have to wait 15 minutes for the next race in the same club.
Ah yes, Streetcoin™. Remember when I said this is a mobile game? You have two currency types, with this coin thing used for top grade engine/body/suspension upgrades... for some reason. You can't even buy this type of currency with real money, so what's the point?
Race rewards slowly scale up as you progress through the clubs, but nowhere near enough to let you start to experiment with cars. The more expensive the car is to buy, the pricier the upgrades are as well, which is maddening. You grind, and grind, and there doesn't feel like any fulfillment. When the final race against a top-spec supercar at 350+kmh rewards me with a freaking hairdresser's coupe, I start to doubt my senses. There's not even a cool cutscene, or a "You're Winner!" text upon completion - just, whoop, back in the open world again like nothing even happened.
Longevity
Is the multiplayer any good? Couldn't tell you directly. Every time I joined MP after launch, there were at most just two clusters of people doing tandems in different parts of the city. No one wanted to race, and probably for the best - every multiplayer event is structured as a zero-sum game, since everyone pays to enter the race but only ONE driver gets the WHOLE prize.
Expect some 20 hours of playtime to beat every club. Devs are slowly adding new content, including as basic a feature as a livery editor with no ways to share wraps. I only got the Deluxe Edition, which granted a few extra cars in the dealership, but doesn't offer additional post-launch DLC.
CarX Street has great mechanics but barebones content. It's long in the tooth. If you just want to drive and customize cars, you can do a lot worse than this. You can also do a lot better.
The new DLC gives access to a level of performance parts unavailable on any car apart from the DLC cars.
Yeah, I'm out if you're going to milk the game like this. I had good hopes initially, but they're no better than any of the major racing game studios.
great game for the money! the xp level requirements and the missing traffic when playing with a friend are a little bit fustrating, but if they fix these two i think the game will become so much popular!! assetto corsa is what it is cuz of multiplayer traffic on custom lobbies. pls add a option to enable or disable it, so everyone can be happy!
Have had this game since it dropped for release and honestly am proud to have witnessed this game get better the more updates it dropped. Keep it up CarX Tech 🙌 I honestly recommend this to other's especially my fellow Steam Deck Owners like myself 💯
TLDR: Mobile game mechanics disguised as a PC game.
As much as I would like to recommend this game; I just can't because of a few different reasons. It is a fun game if you like racing games, don't get me wrong. But there are far too many things that don't belong in a racing game.
The reasons
1: Artificial difficulty insertions. There are far too many of these to even attempt to overlook.
1A: NPC opponents rubberband on top of you and 1 mistake you lose whatever lead you may have had.
1B: NPC opponents actively sabotage you at every chance, mostly by straight ramming you off the track or into walls.
1C: Game mechanics actively sabotage you at every chance. Mostly by removing your turn/acceleration rate. No matter how well you have tuned your car, this is still very apparent just by how your car handles in the open world vs in a race.
1D: Curbs that your car has plenty of clearance to just run over, turn into invisible walls at random. Another form of 'game mechanic sabotage'.
Edit Nov 08:
2: The grind to get anything has been toned down quite a large some. It's still there, but at least it will no longer take you 6+ months to get a car 'fully upgraded'.
End edit.
3: Timers on almost every race outside of the most basic of them. You join a 'race club' those races don't have timers; But as soon as you get to the 'elite races', the ones that award the 'Street Coins' for the best parts, timers galore.
This game I can not recommend; For there are far too many 'mobile game mechanics' in play. For a game that is 99% single player.
Easy recommend for fans of NFS underground and similar games. Map is varied and detailed with parking garages, and carparks tucked away everywhere for sneaky drift sessions. Cars are unlicensed but its easy to recognise all the classic JDM and tuner focused favs. Upgrading and tuning is much more detailed than NFS. Cruising from race to race feels good, as you can gain a good chunk of XP accumulating points by missing traffic, drifting, etc and chaining it all together. Setting traffic density to the highest setting really makes the game feel alive and immersive, this includes having to refuel at service stations, and buying new sets of tires. The game is fairly grindy, don't expect to have the fastest cars within 5 or 10 hours (i like the grind). I haven't event tried multiplayer yet! Keen to see what the devs add in the future.
its the same s*it over and over there using the same weekly races for the same rewards over and over. there is still no sticker for the cars. the last update to improve the game made every car feel like a boat. its in need of a lot of updates to save it i think but it looks like there just not ars*d and are to busy pumping new games out for mobile
A mobile game ported to PC with all the bullshit that makes it a mobile game. Worst AI of any racing game I have ever played. There is no point to use nitro when the AI can smash through a semi, spin out, then go 0-300 in 1.1 seconds and catch right back up to you. They will ram you into a corner and apparently car weight means nothing. You are made of feathers and they are made of unobtanium. Car stats dont matter. Racing line doesnt matter. The AI will just rubber-band to be right behind you.
I started playing this game a few weeks ago and have a little less than 50 hours on it, I mostly play on wheel. This is one of my favorite racing games of all time, and my current favorite game. Everything about this game is satisfying. The map is quite large and stunning, with many different areas and many different types of roads. Watching the rev counter rise and do a sort of wobble as you climb in rpms is incredibly satisfying. Being able to use different tires for different driving scenarios is wonderful. One of my favorite things to do is drive the str (challenger) with sport tires and do burnouts through the gears. The steering feedback and feel on this game is absolutely amazing, being able to feel the cars rear end kick out. The in game economy is pretty good too, I like having to grind for a car, it makes the car feel more personal to you, and you can feel almost every upgrade you do when you drive the car. I would like to see slightly faster progression or just more ways to get credits and gold, but the economy is almost perfect. Another thing I love about this game is EVERY car has 3 body options. You can wide body any car in this game and customize it to your liking. Some things I would like to see is some more cars, maybe a supercharger option as well as a turbo option for a different torque curve/feeling of the car, and some more high end/newer sports cars and super cars.
I might be expecting "Underground 3", but even then this is not that good of a game. It has no unique visual style, the story is actually non existent, the soundtrack is mediocre EDM (with a few standouts). As for the racing - it's okay. Neither brake-to-drift nor black box era grip handling. Cars mostly understeer. Upgrades don't feel as satisfying. The progression is slow and steady, with lots of grinding needed to max out even one car (which is not necessarily a bad thing). The cars are all unlicensed, with some models looking like toy cars and sounding like dogwater. Haven't played multiplayer but from what I've seen it's just races and duels.
Overall, I only really liked the city design but other than that it was all boring circuit and sprint races with not very challenging racers + drift-around-parking-lot events. Hopefully the updates add more than just cars to the game.
Game has a great concept, throws me right into need for speed heat vibes except that there is no cops what so ever to chase you, the racing is also really repetative with not enough reward. Seems like they want you to put 500+ hours into this game just so you can afford 1 engine swap. You got some potentiial with this one carX, just needs some tweaks and balance to the economy and progression. Will be willing to try the game out again if I hear about an update, but until then ill be playing satisfactory
If you played CarX, and this seemed like a cool new CarX release, please save your money and don't buy this game. I expected maybe some cool drifting, decent traffic AI, drift races, and other things I think anyone else would. What I found was none of that. The drifting feels terrible, the cars only get "good" after hours and hours of playing, the traffic AI feels like it goes out of its way to hit you and the races are boring and simple. I would still love a CarX street drifting game, but this is no where near that.
I have hundreds of hours im CarX and love that game. I don't get how you go from that, to this absolute garbage. Seems like a low effort, petty cash grab.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GAME.
Given that the game is still in "development", CarX Street does a great job in relieving the itch for most racing game fans out there. With its dashing visuals and gameplay mechanics, It definitely helps to relive the nostalgic NFS/Arcade games era specifically from 'Underground 2' and 'Most Wanted'. You have to play it to know what I mean from this. During its initial release, a lot of a the franchise fans didn't realise they'd have to build a drift tuned car to be able to drift properly which led to a lot of negative reviews, but with time it has regained most if not more of the player base back.
The game feels rewarding when you decide to put your time and effort and the progression is super balanced that keeps the pace of the game neither too fast to miss the feel of the game nor too slow that it feels exhausting to grind.
The concept of defeating the clubs in various classes is nothing new but it does help to give it a sense of story. It would be much better however, if they were able to provide a well-glued story like a new kid in town aiming for the top spot without much of the NFS-Revenge storyline. Anything that would help the story to be more cohesive and plausible I guess.
The online mode is pretty fun, being able to have car meet ups, race with friends, bet your money, premium coins and even your car is definitely something a lot of online street racing games haven't implemented before when it undoubtedly should've been. It's fun when there's more than your pride on the line.
The online lobby could feel more realistic with a bit of traffic and modes such as drifting with friends like in CarX Drift racing online. The AI traffic does a good job in trying to sway away when driving too close which is cool and you get to experience AI traffic jam once in a while as well. Also, maybe having consequences for poor driving like car damage (being able to repair in fuel stations), scheduled traffic light changes (instead of it just staying in yellow) would make it feel more holistic. But since It's still in said 'development phase' I'm sure they'll be implementing those changes sooner or later.
I could definitely see myself playing this game for a while unlike some previous racing games I've played from NFS or Forza franchise mostly because it has provided me with almost everything I've ever wanted in a racing game including the beautiful and scenic Japan inspired mountain ranges for drifting with my AE86.
It is better than i expected but far from what we all want. in Car X drift racing the economy was crazy and you could do 2 races and build a wild car, now it has taken me 2 hours to even afford entry level upgrades and that doesn't include cosmetics. also the drift scoring is absolutely trash, i dominated car x drift racing and using the same driving techniques i score a consecutive 3rd place ( this is the best ive been able to get). the game has great potential but they need to make it less grindy and also make the scoring reasonable.
If u want to suffer from everything, just play this, u cant catch up to a car that could not get past u at 220 km/h, and when he goes in front of u, he will have 2 engines and going with 400 km/h, on a straight part i was going 300 km/h and he was going faster. If i hit a traffic npc i am flying to the moon, if an ai racer hits one, its just a pebble for them like wtf.
I'm honestly sad that I have to give this game a "not recommended" but it is what it is.
Let me start off with the most important part for me: Multiplayer
If you can get 4 friends to buy this game and play it somewhat regularly, I'd say go for it. If you don't, don't buy this game for multiplayer. This game is losing a ton of players on a weekly basis because there is basically no multiplayer unless you're going to buy this to drift in a circle on the same part of the map over and over again.
If you are looking for a multiplayer racing game, this is not it. You'll waste hours on end trying to race people online hopping from server to server only to find a bubble of wannabe twitch streamers filming each other doing tandems on one part of the map 19/20 times.
The other players on the server are just wasted space (people cruising alone or sitting in some tuning shop, never joining a race) The fact that racing online costs money if you're not the one winning is absolutely hilarious. I've not been able to have fun for a good 3-4 weeks now and I'm about to drop this game for good because I'm just wasting my time trying.
The singleplayer:
Remember I nought this for MP so take this with a grain of salt.
The singleplayer acts as a super boring grindfest just to be able to compete in multiplayer. It is stale. Once the initial hype for the game fades and you have made about 20 races you'll already start to question what the fuck you're even doing.
The AI is abysmally bad, people complain about them not being tied to actual game physiscs (which is true) and some speak of insane rubberbanding. Honestly I can't tell. 95% of races feel like time trials. I gap any AI within 10 seconds on any track and will never see them again unless I crash out 3 times in a row. And I'm not some pro in any way. Racing games make up the lowest amount of my gaming time. So yeah you'll spend 2-3 hours fast travelling from race to race, win race to race on first try with literally zero competition, then go buy a car and customize it for 10 minutes and your money is gone. Rince and repeat. I would not care half as much about this if this would be good for anything but since multiplayer is starting to die off entirely, the SP should legitimately not be a reason for you to buy the game.
If you're looking for a good SP title, buying any of the forza horizon games from 3 onwards will satisfy your needs by a multiple of this game. If you're looking to get some fun out of multiplayer racing, you are already too late.
I'd say keep an eye out for future updates regarding multiplayer content but if there's nothing coming, spend that money elsewhere.
PS @ CarX: I'm open to change my review if you stop ignoring the racing community of this game. You advertised this as an open world racing game, not a sequel to your mobile drift game ported to PC. Treat it like that and I'll happily spread the word.
Bought the game for me and my friend just to play less than an hour. The gameplay felt like a bad mobile game, the driving physics felt super delayed and every car felt dramatically heavy for no reason, not only that but you need auto clutch on just to drive since having it in manual mode and braking sends you into neutral ruining your drift or even race when braking into corners. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING COMING FROM CARX. this game felt like a 4/10 game has potential but lacks heavy. EXPECT PRIVATE SERVER RACES TO NOT WORK BUT TO STILL LOSE MONEY EVEN WHEN NOT IN RACE.
forza 5 on high = solid 72fps
carX on max graphics = 44 fps
carX on lowest graphics = 37fps
what the ...
Honestly a great game but the AI make it so damn miserable, they will randomly turn and crash into you on purpose all the time, they make GTA npc's look intelligent.
game's fun and is already above ubisoft developement level. Also the tuning is fun and gives u lots of options!
could see myself grinding this game more but so far i maxed out one car and finished all the max level races. Nothing to do now and i barely earn money from solo playing.
Feels like its meant to be played in multiplayer rn but i dont really wanna do that.
If they make some changes for solo players to get more money, ill be happy to grind some more.
good game, economy is shite, spend 2 hours getting money in races to spend it in 30 seconds
+ add sex mod pls
