it's a great game somethimes there are still some glitches and bugs but those get fixed quickly and it's allot of fun to play with friends because sometimes you can see them get lifted in the air and just thrown away by the tornade after a failed probe placement
bought this Early access game for my best friend Dread and Lich and myself and we simply loving the storm chasing, it has great physics but graphics could be better and more optimised. but overall such a great game.
Amazing. This is the best game if you love rain thunderstorms and tornados.
This game is to expensive and has to many problems. The only reason I did not refund this is because my friend wanted me to keep it ( he does not play it anymore).
I love storms and storm chaser games. I used to play on Roblox because that was where the best (and free) storm chaser games were and still are. I got this game because the weather simulation is top notch, and it looked like a better looking Roblox storm chaser.
However, I was very disappointed. Firstly, the performance was awful. On a 3080ti and 5800x, I was barely getting 25 fps with setting maxed and dlss at performance. Sure, turned the settings down but it turned into a grainy mess and made the clouds look weird.
As for gameplay, there's just nothing to do. Maybe multiplayer would be better, but I'm not sure. You need SO many points to even begin to get some of the cool stuff. To get said points though, you gotta find tornado's. That means driving for a very very long distance usually, to finally see a tornado go across a field. Then it goes away, but there's another storm! Oh wait, you are almost out of gas. time to drive for 30 minutes just to do that. Then, wait and drive another 30 minutes for a possible tornado.
This wouldn't bother me as much if the world was nicer. It's all basically just a flat field it seems, with maybe a few trees, and some small houses every now and then. You can't even enter most of the buildings too. So driving so much is incredibly boring. Just hold W for 20 minutes looking at absolutely nothing.
Overall, I appreciate the realism, but this is not a fun game for me. Also $35 is insane. This is NOT worth that. Roblox has near the same game but it is actually fun, and runs good, it just doesn't look as good or have quite the same simulation. But it's free!
It's an awesome game for anyone who would like to know more about storm chasing, tornadoes or extreme weathers.
The graphics are pretty decent and all the simulations are really well made and all that while still being early access.
And trust me, once you photograph that one scenic tornado from up close towering in front of you, you will get hooked instantly!
Can highly recommend!
A massive step up from storm chasers! It has a amazing advanced radar and weather patterns, as someone that studies weather it's nice to use the IRL way. performance wise it needs work but other than that it is a must buy for a person in need of a REALISTIC storm chasing sim! IT IS A MASTERPEACE!!!
It's a fun game even though its repetitive. If you enjoy storm chasing then this is your game. Just be aware that THIS GAME DOES NOT SUPPORT MODDING. And, if you want to make the game more fun chase with friends. I was chasing alone and it wasn't the best, but with friends it more fun
This is my favorite game, ive always wanted to be a storm chaser and this game brings it to life while i study to become a future meteorologist.
Group chase sucks, codes don't work, game's laggy as all hell. There's no support for the game in terms of Q&A or anything. I can't recommend this shit show.
great physics but graphics could be better and more optimised but otherwise very good for an indy game
Before the update solo chasing was good, long and annoying at times, but once it got going it was fun. Now, after the update your chasing 60mph+ tornadoes each chase. It's no longer fun playing. Finally got in front of one, placed the probe only for it to be right on top of me in seconds. 5k+ score gone.
I hate it. Can't start in offline, it's says error with stream cloud, restart game (I play all my games offline). Can't save game without internet connection? STUPIDEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD!! **** this game. I liked it too. but the internet prerequisites are just enough for me to refund it,
The state of this game is awful. The game feels extremely bland and boring, I get it's supposed to be realistic and the fact its early access n such but the state and future plans for this game are making it incredibly hard to support this anymore.
Game Wise:
The game is still incredibly optimised, you genuinely need the supercomputer that rendered these simulations to even play at a reliable and standard frame rate. Radar data doesn't feel true to the nature of actual radar data despite them being based off real scenarios. Vehicles don't even feel like vehicles anymore, I feel like I'm peddling a fucking tricycle and I think half of the vehicles seem to have gas leaks because every 5 minutes I have to abandon chase because my fuel is all of a sudden low. Progression is incredibly slow (Yes dev's people have lives outside of playing your game) which will be brought up in the next section.
Outside of Game Wise:
I joined the discord a while ago and the general atmosphere of the discord just reeked of entitlement and greed. One of the most astonishing things I had discovered in the discord server was that they'd be implementing MICRO TRANSACTIONS in the future, excuse me but what the fuck? Thought I'd be able to escape the world of paying $50 for a game and then having to pay for extra features to make the game more fun but nope, hearing this news is extremely disappointing and is most likely the reason the developers will never increase progression speed because they're hoping people that actually have other things to do besides play this game 24/7, it's also the reason they will never implement a true offline mode where those who want to play Solo must still be connected to the internet and even then still cannot progress in solo for some odd reason. This also leads onto another problem I found within the discord server, I noticed in the bug reports channel there was a rampant problem with cheaters, and not cheaters causing problems mind you, I mean cheaters who used cheat engine to modify a few coins. And I get it, cheaters are ruining the progression system for themselves and others who played legit, but the real issue with this is that the game is intentionally programmed to crash if it detects you cheating, no ban message no nothing. It seems the dev have a real kink for just humiliating those who cheated and making them beg for an unban. This is nothing short of just plain scumminess, while bans are reasonable it cannot be that hard for a project of this scale to just simply ban them from playing online and let them play offline. The devs have been extremely hesitant at doing this as it seems they wouldn't be able to get their rocks off enough to do such a thing. Another problem is that the Devs stink of power hunger and entitlement, my interactions with them have been awful I've never seen developers been so out of touch and so vile with the community. They genuinely seem to speak down on those who aren't staff and are just members. Any idea that isn't their own just seems to get denied over and over again, and everytime someone speaks out or criticises them, they get muted. It's genuine censorship from the developers about the actual state of their community and their game.
This game had so much potential that was wasted by a genuinely awful team of developers who could've changed so much to make the game better, but it seems the game's actual goal was to just be a massive cashgrab for those looking for alternatives to the older Storm Chasers game by littlecloudgames, and I even would like to think that game felt better, they encouraged modding and such, they didn't care too much about cheating as long as cheaters didn't go into public games and ruin it by spawning tornadoes and such. Modding and experimenting with games is how games can stay up for so long, it's the reason games like minecraft, gta and gmod are all still great games, because they had an excellent community of modders and people in general that were all supported by the developers and ecouraged. Overall, don't buy this game at it's current state, I will be keeping this review here until either something changes or the dev's have a hissy fit and force me to take this down.
I live in the midwest, so we get a lot of cool storms. this game is the most accurate weather game i have ever played, and though it is buggy at times, the game is still in development, so it is to be expected. I enjoy the community, as it is generally helpful and kindish, with a few exceptions here and there. there is no ptp feature, you must actually play to earn in game money and points, so it is fair for everyone. a very enjoyable and relaxing game, and if you get board, you can just jump into tornadoes and have fun with random exploration of the map.
Real storm chasing and characteristics of a storm and tornado building. You have to wait it out or try to get ahead of it. W game.
not bad, the one thing confusing me is the fact it solo gameplay is a offline, that would usually mean you don't need internet to play. or so i thought when i tried to play it without internet it wouldn't work cuz it couldn't connect to steam server. a FULL offline mode would be nice
Fun and enjoyable game. The only thing i ask is that you get rid of the 8 player minimum on private matches so you arent playing with random people in the online que
The major update was a major flop!!! They said that there was a big bug fix like where the game would stop crashing while in game due to a data leak. This game has now crashed twice since going into the group gaming with a few friends!
Solid Game, supper fun with friends. Not really worth the $35 price tag at the moment though.
Game is fun if you enjoy this sort of thing but I honestly can't recommend it in its current state and at its current price.
Some good notes:
Storm chasing mostly feels pretty fun, the driving around, reporting, and dropping probes gameplay loop is pretty satisfying.
Weather effects and cloud systems look real good and fairly authentic.
Weather system simulation feels real authentic.
However:
Currency earnings vs prices are paced like some sort of mobile game cashgrab insanity.
The map feels completely lifeless, it's just ghost towns and trees with nothing going on but the storms.
Private matches, which is somewhat of a hyped feature of the .1 patch, require 8+ players which is a completely absurd expectation. If I'm doing something with 8 friends it's probably not this, in all honesty.
Overall, wait for a sale or for some more major patches. The game has a lot of potential but it still needs a ton of work to justify being more expensive than way cheaper games that offer way more.
It's a slow-burn kind of game but it's pretty fun.
Was excited for private matches but the 8+ requirement is a major bummer. At the price, it's pretty hard to convince 8 friends to try it.
This is a pretty fun games with friends. I like that they keep putting out updates. I can't wait to see this game grow.
ONLINE ONLY GAME
In resume, that's why I'm giving it a negative.
I don't think online only should be enforced in more games, specially to track player progress exclusively online. There's no option to play it OFFLINE (as in no internet connection) and sync progress later.
That's my opinion and I cannot recommend it to anyone.
The game is very good, optimization is going pretty well and I enjoyed my time playing. Just can't recommend a game that only works while connected to servers.
Will absolutely revert my analysis if an offline mode releases and I happen to purchase it again, as I'm asking for a refund
EDIT: After playing a little more, I need to say the economy is absolutely atrocious. If you photograph 6 tornados and almost perfectly probe one of those (it's hard to perfect probe) you should win around 6K. A round lasts more than 30 minutes, keep that in mind.
There's a vehicle in this game that costs 1.000.000 fucking dollars. Many vehicles costing more than 200K dollars. The storms are very good, very pretty and realistic, but the open world is bland and empty, which almost makes the game unbearably ugly.
If the cost for stuff wasn't that high and it wasnt always online, it would be something else... at least for me
Pretty fun storm chasing simulator the weather effects the storms are incredibly gorgeous and convincing but just about everything else needs more polish, the deaths are often times delayed or just happen randomly with no tornado even nearby, the store could have more useful and unique items the cosmetic cameras should allow you to take pictures while in your vehicle. I think you could replace unique vehicles like the shaw with a Dominator 1 or 2 for 500,000 and 750,000 respectively. The car handling being realistic is understandable but still feels inconsistent and wonky at times especially around corners. The storms are very fun and deceiving at first but sticking around rewards you with powerful tornados, the only issues I have are the shop and the random deaths caused by bugs but other than that its a very solid experience if you're a storm chasing fanatic
Expensive but it is fun chasing down storms.
Needs a performance update and better graphics would be nice.
Great game, very fun, very realistic systems...Performance sucks, far overpriced for where it's at right now, Updates are not frequent. I'd wait until it is on sale, or more updates come out. It's not far enough into development to be $40 USD.
According to the devs, They want to add paid cosmetics.
Big no.
Your game is pricy. Everything should be unlockable in game.
As someone who knew some of the moderators and backers this game was highly regarded back in the early stages in 2020 (when i first found out about it) and i will say after taking multiple years to get released this game has got to be one of the worst storm chasing games I have personally ever played.
You are better off going over to ROBLOX and play SCR7, Helicity or Twisted. Way better games and you can save $40. Or you can put the $40 in a shredder as that be better then spending it on this game i'd throw in the trash can if I could. And not to mention there isn't even different variety's of tornado's. no multi vortex, no wedges no nothing just ropes.
Still hoping one day this game can live up to its potential but it's a LONG way from that.
Fantastic game, I can't wait to see the full version of this masterpiece when it's finished
So far i can see why people leave negative reviews on the game. Driving in a mostly empty landscape with models that look dated. But the weather. Man the weather systems are gorgeous. Chasing the tornado also has is challenges which keeps you engaged, since i almost got sucked up by one trying to put a probe in it's path. The price for what the game offers is high in my opinion but this is real weather data getting used and i can't imagine access to that is cheap. I will say to wait and see if you are on the fence burt if you love weather systems and chasing them i would recommend this game for you, Remember though that this is early access.
It's a good game but.. It's hard to get the ball rolling if you don't have a storm chasing background
I'm not sure why this has mostly positive reviews, this is a terribly optimized game with no option to play with friends only, and the gameplay is nowhere near what should be expected from a forty dollar game. It ran my GPU at 100% with 20fps at medium settings. I play tarkov at 120fps. How the hell does a game that looks like it came out in 2014 run this poorly? You would get more enjoyment throwing your forty bucks in a paper shredder.
35 dollars for this game is insane. make the price at MOST 15 dollars. the maps look bad, but the weather systems are awesome looking and the tornadoes look cool as well, just way too much money for a game in VERY early access.
pretty fun, some bugs but fun gameplay
The games store description in no reflects what the game is actually about. Multiplayer co-op implies cooperative gameplay but you are competing against each other not working together. No lobby feature exists is all quick play pvp style game play.
this game is a blast, i have a lot of fun both with my friends, and the random people i end up with. every one is incredibly friendly and helpful! very excited to see where this game goes.
This is one of the best storm chaser games out there and it has a lot of potential. So why am I giving this a bad review? The issue is the way money is saved. To save money, you need to exit your chase at a gas station, sounds simple. The problem comes when you disconnect. You could spend 15-30 minutes in a chase, getting optimal photos, intercepts, the like. Then suddenly the game freezes and you're booted back to the menu. Because of how the money is saved, you just lost all that time and progress and got nothing from it. It makes it feel pointless to chase if you're at a constant high risk of loosing so much time spend chasing. I can understand loosing your money if you die, but there needs to be a different way to save money than ending your chase. Perhaps players can deposit earned money when at gas stations and it is saved that way. This game as so much potential to be the best storm chasing game out there, but loosing so much time and progress all because of a poor money saving system makes the entire game not enjoyable to play. IF the devs fix the save system, I'll certainly return to play the game, until then, not a chance.
Absolutely a blast to play!! Especially when intercepting a tornado with a probe in game... really makes you pucker up! Starting stream on my Twitch Channel Steve's Sim Station!! Always been a big weather buff and this helps with the itch. The weather in game really does act like real life weather and if you know what you are looking at you can really pick where the tornado is or predict where it could rear its ugly head. Keep it up and looking forward to further updates
I don't know who thought $35 for this game was a good idea especially for a game that is very early access, I can see this game fully polished being a $35 game but not in its current state. If it goes on sale for $10 or below its worth getting.
-Driving is very clunky
-Graphics at this price scale awful
-Wait times just to get into a game is ridiculous (perhaps from lack of players)
Game would be 10/10 if I didn't die randomly. The tornado gods looked down on me and said nope. We do not think you deserve those 20k points. You are going to die, and we don't care how far away the tornado is. They said they fixed it. They did not.
The game absorbs me into a scenario, vibing around the map, until the chase begins and I lose track of time.
I'm 13 hours in and I see an enormous amount of potential in this game. I like to consider this a 'cozy' game, however I would like to see more additions added for a little extra in-game points. Perhaps take bets with points to see who probes a twister first? Or straight up racing, engine tuning, better crash physics, or better yet extra points for saving people in destroyed houses.
SUCH a good game, only one issue, the cloud error, its all normal on steams side, and on my side, and it keeps saying that i have an error on my cloud, which i dont, devs, please fix this!
Super fun game, however does need an invite feature to play with friends. Graphics are great. Scene loading is a bit chunky and makes driving through a scene change a tad clunky and leaves possibility for crashing your vehicle. Would like to see more vehicle add-ons (such as off-road tires that perform better off-road and poorly on asphalt) and them perform more functions. More equipment would be nice too (like weather balloons, and mobile radar stations). Larger towns and cities with more buildings would be nice especially to see more destruction from the tornados. That being said in the games current state and progression it is a great game, hope to see the devs continue to update and keep bettering the game!
A Sims player by day, tornado chaser by night. This really is an interesting concept of game play by using real tornado mapping and not something fake. The controls are relatively easy, and you get a ton of money following and documenting a good tornado.
Only dev recommendation I have is the car speeds. I understand to get better vehicles you have to play longer, but moving slightly outside the road and my car going 4-7 kpm was almost rage inducing when I was so close to getting in direct path of a tornado.
In my opinion, OUTBRK needs a lot of work. Good luck trying to run this game on anything but a high-end PC, and the graphics aren't even that impressive. While it can be a decent time-waster, if you have a poor internet connection, you risk losing everything at the end of a great run because there's no connection buffer.
It feels like the developers are focusing on making the game grindier instead of adding new content. Simple additions like upgradable probes or a passive income system say, a 1k bonus for logging in or something similar would really help alleviate the grind. The current system is why players resorted to abusing probe spamming. Earning 15k–30k per run when the most expensive car costs 1 million is just ridiculous. And when new content is added, they wipe your progress, which encourages cheating and perpetuates a frustrating cycle.
Overall, the price is too high for such an unpolished game. The developers need to put more effort into enhancing the gameplay experience rather than just extending the grind.
Excellent game, definitely clear that it is a work in progress but the progress the dev team has been making is visible.
This game kind of itches a scratch I didn't know I have. It requires the player to be invested in the whole game, make critical choices and there aren't really any easy buttons. Finding tornadoes is one thing, but the added driving and practical fueling dynamics make it realistic and it feels more like a simulation.
I think this game is so good, and realistic. But a bit expensive.
I whaiting for the new contents and things !
