Games fun but not worth 35 dollars at all. Feels very jank and graphics look like cheap assets. Could be a fun game but the price is way to high for what it offers.
driving is crap. there's no car that would drive this junky and still be going down the road. simple controls go a long way
It's a fun game, especially with the new passenger princess patch. However this game is a resource hog in its current state and causes random crashes halfway into a chase at times. Not sure if this is getting fixed anytime soon. I would say overall a fun time and great game to break up the monotony, however a little steep on the price point for current state. TO MANY TIMES THAT MY GAME CRASHES OUT AND I LOSE ALL PROGRESS/CREDITS GAINED. ALMOST UNPLAYABLE!!! In it's current state at least for me. and I got decent hardware so IDK
Why you should buy this game for $35
1. The graphics are great you would not want miss out on this game
2. Realistic data and tornado simulations this is awesome show's what is like to be a tornado chaser and I would recommend this a lot!
3. Online is great - I thought this game wouldn't have that much people playing it but there are GOOD on the online mode or you can choose single mode
4. Improved updates - this means that they are not done yet so meaning by this you should buy it because if this is so good and not even finished yet then who knows what would happen after it
s done and the bug fixes are great on top.
5. Game itself - The game itself is fun lets you buy vehicles and specific stuff to put on vehicles and gives the motivation to earn money in the game which is great!
6. If your a tornado fan just like when I was younger you would want this game I would love having this game when i was younger since I used to be a HUGE tornado fan this is worth it!
Well that is all I have to say about the review am just going to tell you this is great!
Steam Review: 3/10 – Not Worth the Price, Needs Serious Improvement
Outbrk has the potential to be a fun game, but right now it’s far from living up to its promise. At $35, it’s hard to recommend, especially considering the current state of the game and the way the developers are handling things. While I understand it’s in early access, I’m generally supportive of these kinds of games, but this isn’t just the usual growing pains we see in early access titles. This is a mix of poor communication, slow updates, and a lack of focus on player needs.
Lack of Communication and Dev Engagement
First, the developers frequently point players to their Trello board as a way to track progress. While I appreciate the attempt at transparency, a Trello board alone is not enough. It’s frustrating that the devs rarely engage with the community beyond this, leaving players feeling ignored when asking for updates or clarification. When suggestions are made, the response is often cold and dismissive, with “not planned” being the go-to reply. There’s a clear lack of interaction and meaningful communication from the dev team.
Slow Progress and Missed Priorities
The slow dev rollouts are another major issue. Instead of addressing core problems, the focus seems to be on adding features that most players aren’t asking for, while quality of life improvements and performance fixes are left by the wayside. Graphics are a big point of disappointment. They feel outdated, like something from a Minecraft mod rather than a game that’s charging $35 in 2024. Even Minecraft's blocky visuals look better. The devs blame their outside graphics developer for the performance issues, but at this point, it feels more like a case of poor prioritization. Fixing basic gameplay elements and optimizing the experience should come first, not adding features that don't resonate with the community.
It's also worth mentioning that there’s no easy cop-out to blame PC specs for the poor performance—I'm running a 4090 GPU and a 14900k CPU, and I still experience issues with the game’s performance and visuals. The problem isn't on my end; it's on the devs to optimize and improve what they’ve built.
A Disconnect Between Dev Vision and Player Needs
There’s also a significant gap between the devs' vision for the game and the playerbase's expectations. While having a strong vision is important, the lack of responsiveness to player feedback is a major issue. The game seems to be heading in a direction that’s not aligned with what the players want. If you’re looking for a game that fits the storm-chasing niche, you might want to consider alternatives, like Tornado Emergency, which may offer a more satisfying experience.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Outbrk has potential, but right now, it feels like a game that isn’t going anywhere fast. The price point feels unjustified for the state it’s in, and the lack of communication from the developers makes it hard to remain hopeful. I really want to see this game improve, but at the moment, I can’t recommend it.
Buyer beware. It’s hard to recommend this game in its current state.
OUTBRK is the best, but i never get to intercept or go near. I recommend OUTBRK.
great game for beginning storm chasers. it fairly realistic and the instruments are spot on. If you love storms or just want the thrill play this game.
Absolute blast for storm enthusiasts, but maybe not so much for the average gamer?
=Overview=
If you are like me, who has always been mesmerized by violent thunderstorms and the weather that comes with them, then this game might be for you. If you are looking for a more action-packed adventure with carnage and destruction being the main focus, then this game may not be what you are looking for.
=Gameplay=
Being in alpha, the gameplay is pretty straightforward. You choose a vehicle from your garage, which can have upgrades purchased with in game currency (we will talk more about this in a later topic on this review), and drive off in the direction of one of the storms that will spawn on the map. The main goal is to gather photographs of the different phenomenon which include wall clouds, funnel clouds, and of course tornadoes. You can work together with other chasers in a somewhat seamless multiplayer mode, or launch into solo-play to enjoy the map all to yourself. Photographs earn you in-game currency which can be used to purchase upgrades to your vehicle, new vehicles, and cosmetic items for your character. Another method to earning in-game currency, which is more risky, but makes a ton more than just photographs, is placing probes in the path and running to safety while you gain data from the probe. There are a few nuances, and bugs, but hey, it's still in development. Nothing so far that I have encountered has been game-breaking.
Accuracy and Variety of Storms
Of the storm games I have personally played and watched others play, OUTBRK has one of most high fidelity, indepth roster of real-world accurate storm systems out of them BY FAR. This is the key point in the opening overview statement. If you are looking for a game that can give you a scenario of Squall Line supercells one chase, and the next one may be one super-massive isolated supercell, and the next may be a disorganized group of showers that evolve into stronger more organized storm systems as they pass over areas with high potential convective energy, etc. You get the point, this game was made by people who spent alot of time researching and trying to model the storms, and it shows in a satisfying way.
The graphics (or lack thereof)
My first criticism of the game is that it is obviously lacking in the graphical department. It is somewhat poorly optimized, and will struggle on lower end PC's. The models themselves are decent, whoever modeled the hands on the characters probably deserves a raise, but other than that the models are comparative to most games you would pay around $30 for. Animations are somewhat clunky, but it's not really a game meant to be played for seamless animations.
Customization
Another slight down arrow for the game. Car customizations first and foremost: They offer a range of different items you can add to your car in the game. Some do things, and others dont. None of them are necessary to enjoy the game, and none of them are really that helpful when you do get them. The laptop for example lets you use the map in the car without hitting your map button and not being able to see the road. The radio antenna lets you get weather alerts without having to check the map. Bull bar makes you take less damage if you crash, etc. The hail cage is one that I will use as an example for a somewhat useless modification: it makes it where hail doesn't smash your windows. But the price to purchase one is 95,000 in game credits, and the repair cost of the windows is like 400$ per incident. I have also never lost a window yet on the game, so to me it seems like it is just there as a cosmetic.
Character cosmetics are downright awful at the moment unfortunately, a lot of the clothing clips through and shows some shoulder skin or knees sticking through. The available options for character customization are also lacking in comparison to most other games. You have 4 base models of characters to choose from, and of each of them you get to choose either 20 year old model, or 48 year old divorced dad who hasn't shaved in a year. That's your options. Pick one.
Closing Statements
This game is so much fun for a storm enthusiasts, but unfortunately unless they put a ton more side objectives, and other things to do besides JUST the storm chasing aspect, it will struggle to hold the attention of the average gamer now a days.
It's really a fun game and a great time killer. The radar in-game is pretty much on point and is fun for the weather nerds like me and if you don't want to damage your real life car this is the game for you.
I love what the DEVs are doing with this game. graphics could be better. awesome gameplay. realisim. just an awesome game!
So this be an early access game I feel like it has a lot of potential. Currently Invested about two hours into game play and requested refund because I feel like the content isn't delivering what I expected for current price. It seems a bit steep priced and video quality is not quite what i expected. I would be interested at a later date but currently I feel like its lacking fun and enjoyment for a game thats beta and $35.
Love this game obviously its going to have some bugs because its early access but i hope the devolopers continue to add stuff and make it better hoping to see that the mods done to your car can add more money if you level up your equipment and hoping to see more vehicles and different sounds for them but all that stuff is me just nit picking would definitly recomend.
This game despite its flaws is very very enjoyable. while performance can be poor atm remember its an early access game an optimizations are some of the last things that game devs work on especially when new things are being added and graphically the game is very complex. give it a few more updates and i feel this will be a real winner
this game is ass. I fucking hate this, 30 dollars for the laggiest game ever, EVEN WITH A 4090. also everything ingame costs like a billion dollars, I played this for 70 mins LOOKING FOR SOMETHING GOOD, AND I FOUND NOTHING, the tornadoes look like ass, and the scenarios are so basic, and the vehicles and storms SUCK, the map is super big, like way too big, Either make things less expensive, adding custom scenarios, and better tornadoes and new natural disasters, OOOR delete the game from steam.
First time i played the game Spent i think 35 bucks on it, The rain looked like graphic issues and Multiplayer was bugged, Game is not as good as it shows and not worth buying Whatsoever.
After watching countless hours of game play on YouTube, I decided to pull the trigger on this game. It did not disappoint! This has turned out to be the game that storm chasers and weather nerds have always dreamed of! So far I've played 12 hrs in 2 days and haven't had any issues. Everything has ran near perfect, no lag spikes, crashing, or anything. Can't wait to see what future updates will add to the game!
Like any Early Access game, it's had some teething problems, but the developers are very active and consistently improving the game -- it's not dead-in-the-water like some EA (ahem) games, but living and growing. The game might be something of a niche interest, but based on the fun I've had (especially recently since discovering a graphical frustration of mine was due to a G-Sync setting I could turn off), I would absolutely recommend. 10/10, would be thrown through the stratosphere again.
I'm a huge Weather Nerd and very much into Stormchasing, i have been waiting for this Game for Years.Even its still not perfect it getting better and over Time. Most people dont know this is 2 Man Project who put they they Heart, Soul and Blood into this Nishe Game.
Its Simulation of IRL Weather Events, you are the Stormchaser who makes they Forcast , Radar Guide and you Pick your Targets and correcting postioning all the Time to place your probe to get Points and Money for it. Taking the best Photos of the Group. And dont kill your in the procress. Other than in Real Life when you die you not really die. Only the Round ends for you. Sounds easy but it isnt. Played by Real Stormchasers and Weather Entusiasts you learn to read and Understand Radar and weather dynamics. And you will mess it up many Times, even the Pros does.
I'm not good in this myself , but watched so many hours others playing it and even its simple in Design its feels like the Real thing.
But its not for everybody.
This game is amazing cant wait to see what all they do this coming year
I have an high end system that can run Cyberpunk 2077 but cant even run this game at 1080p. I am a storm chaser in real life and i love what they are trying to do with this game but it performs really bad and i dont get why it is more demanding than cyberpunk, i mean the graphics card it requires is an RTX 4060 or and RX 7600 XT which is very dumb. I would recommend it if it ran better on peoples systems. I give this game two starts if i could, I would love to see the game grow and make all these changes
OUTBRK has a great storm sim and it is intense engaging the tornadoes!
However, the designers have neglected or sacrificed driving quality in a Driving Game. It definitely feels like driving has been neglected. You spend a huge amount of time in your car...cool...you're storm chasing! Driving is fun and exciting, but not on a keyboard and its okay with a console control. Real driving game enthusiasts use steering wheels and pedals. My racing rig is only upper mid-tier Fanatec wheel and pedals with some button boxes. I have NEVER had a compatibility issue with any game or sim, until now. OUTBRK has a very limited controller menu. The designers need to make their driving game / storm sim compatible with driving rigs. For this reason, I need to give a thumbs down for now. As the game is developed, not only does the compatibility issues need to be fixed, but there also needs to traffic, better street signage that is closer to real world in design and scale and Cops & Firetrucks responding to towns that were just destroyed. Cops could also be around randomly working traffic giving out speeding tickets to speeding storm chasers...maybe reckless driving arrests... Accidents with AI traffic should also be a thing...make driving intense, like the storm chase. Worrying about crashing, getting a ticket and/or getting sucked up in a tornado- wow. I also hope to see a damage generator for buildings and cars alike. This is game has a great start! Just remember you have a DRIVING game with storm sim and right now you're forgetting the driving. When these issues are addressed, this will be a two thumbs up review.
A tornado sucked me through a gas station wall, throwing me a across the map to my death. Got some good pictures though. Would recommend.
its a good game, but in its current state, its not worth £29.50. the graphics are pretty last gen, almost playstation 3/xbox 360 like. Also, to buy anything will take a hell of a lot of grinding, especially if your more of a solo gamer like myself. the most ive been able to make in a chase is 6.5k. also, having to pay to customise your character is a little stingy (but thats just my opinion). thats the bad bits out of the way, on the good side, the game douse drag you in and make you want to go on chase after chase. its just a little repetitive when you cant cant buy anything with your earnings because everything is just so expensive.
This game is a lot of fun!!
And it's even more fun with friends!! :DD
Honestly the game just isn't fun at all... It looks god awful for starters! Hell my summer car made by ONE person looks better then this mess. The fact that its all online (singleplayer is TECHNICALLY ONLINE) is just dumb as hell! I've already requested a refund because till this crap is fixed and its actually playable i dont want it! Especially for 50AUD.... How on earth can a game perform this badly on an 11700k, 64GB ram and a 3060ti....
The game is great. Its just that the fact that making money can take up to 50 hours. I would not recommend this game. The economy is so bad its worse then storm chasers. WAIT TILL TORNADO EMERGENCY!
First off I love this game and cant wait to see what comes next. However, I would love to see watches , weather models or mesoscale discussions being used. I know that's probably hard to do but would make the game even better. cheers :)
love the game so far its been great but i still think that the economy is just outrageous and should be dulled down for people who cant just grind the game all day and make points the way others can by being able to be on all day everyday just because people get the best vehicle in the game doesn't mean they will stop playing it we enjoy the thrill of hunting and learning more about tornadoes and the weather that produces and comes with them i just personally think that you should either make more per match or drop the vehicle prices overall great game and love to play it def recommend to anyone interested in meteorology!!!!
It is currently in an extremely Alpha state. There's so much more to do -- so much potential that could be filled in -- that I really hope the developers keep working on this for a long time to come! In its current state, after 12 hours, I'm already awaiting the next release, or couple of releases, to add more content so I can try again.
The graphics need to be optimized, most of the world feels very "stock", BUT MAN THE WEATHER PATTERNS ARE BEAUTIFUL! I actually experienced terror at various points, especially in my first few hours before I got the hang of it. There's also plenty of map space to race around. Maybe in the future they will even add more maps.
I don't know if I feel that it's necessarily worth the price at the moment, BUT I feel like some day it COULD be worth MORE than what I paid for it. Time will tell.
If you're into storms and you like the idea of chasing them, and you have enough money in your life that buying an unfinished game won't break your mental health, then go for it and have some fun! Eventually though, you'll figure it out and it'll become super easy.
fun with friends but can get repetitive and has some notable flaws (graphical fidelity of some parts is not very high), i would wait to purchase for now
Very fun game and realistic sounds.
The game itself is fun. It has potential, but... it has a lot of dark patterns (shady and deliberate behavior of the game). They essentially brick your game in singleplayer if you try to unlock in-game items or increase in-game currency or otherwise mod the game, because they store your progression and player profile on their own backend servers, also making it an always-online game to play singleplayer with your current progress. You appeal via their Discord with a two-strikes system.
The devs are extremely hostile to modding and demonize "cheating" or modding... in singleplayer, not just co-op, with an excuse that they'll apparently eventually add competitive modes(???). They plan to add harsher anti-cheat later.
It's fun, which is a shame. I don't have faith in the developers and their intentions for its future. Cannot recommend until they knock that nonsense off and make the game properly singleplayer, unless you don't care about principle.
In which case, I still can't recommend it while it's inexcusably slow and new content is even remotely on their todo list when it should be all hands on deck to fix the performance. This is not because they're actually running fluid simulation, because it's all pre-generated scenarios using WRF. It's the cloud rendering causing an RTX 4070 Ti to beg you to stop.
OUTBRK is the best storm chasing game created. The amount of detail in the weather is very impressive. The tornadoes in it are an absolute beauty and so are the cloud features. As a chaser that lives in tornado alley myself I would say, both the tornadoes and the storms behave realistically. It's awe-inspiring and exhilarating crossing paths with a large tornado, trying to place a probe!
That being said, it's an alpha build and can be clunky at times, and there's a few things I'd like to see improved in the game. Definitely purchase and play the game and support the continued development of it though. I can tell that the developers are working hard to improve it and there's a lot of opportunity for it to become even more amazing. Hopefully my feedback will help. Here are a few things:
1. Wall clouds. There could be some improvement on the overall textures and behavior of wall clouds in the game. Often, it looks like the tornado only comes from the rain-free base of the storm, and the "report" and "camera" feature seldom registers a wall cloud first. The overall structure of the updraft towers and anvils of storms is very good and detailed but the level of detail underneath the rain-free base of the mesocyclone could be improved.
2. The camera feature. The camera feature says "photo too similar" if you try and take a photo of the storm from the same spot for about a minute. This is solely based on location, and not what's going on with the tornado. The tornado is often moving fast and morphing in shape very quickly during that time, and it's disappointing to be locked out from taking photos of it, even when it doesn't look very similar to 30 seconds ago. Also, sometimes the camera and report feature don't say that there's a tornado even when there is one you can see, especially if I'm in the RFD area.
3. Debris behavior. Tree branches and small bits of debris on the road behave like they are a solid wall that is completely impassable by your car.
Again, this game is already great, especially for the stage of development it's in. I will love to see it get even better!
I love this game but the one big problem it has is that your not able to make a private match with your friends unless you have 8 or more people. i get it if its supposed to be cooperative but the game is dead and I cant find a match with my friends.
it's a great game somethimes there are still some glitches and bugs but those get fixed quickly and it's allot of fun to play with friends because sometimes you can see them get lifted in the air and just thrown away by the tornade after a failed probe placement
I wouldn't buy this game right now. maybe when they update it and fix the in game economy. it seems to me the most money you can make at one time is about 10 grand per run. and that's if everything goes perfectly (like the tornado follows the road and you can place your probe down a couple times in the same tornado). the things in the game to make your chasing better like the laptop, weather stations mounted on your vehicle, and antennas, all cost roughly like 80,000.
the other critique i have is this game strangely makes my computer run at about 36 degrees Celsius, which is weird because the graphics are strangely out of 2015. so the optimization needs to be looked at as well.
all in all, i do enjoy this game with friends. the community is nice. but the game is definitely not worth the current price point.
bought this Early access game for my best friend Dread and Lich and myself and we simply loving the storm chasing, it has great physics but graphics could be better and more optimised. but overall such a great game.
Amazing. This is the best game if you love rain thunderstorms and tornados.
This game is to expensive and has to many problems. The only reason I did not refund this is because my friend wanted me to keep it ( he does not play it anymore).
It is the best storm game ever but there are still bugs but it is fun
so far really enjoying this game but i do think the price is a bit to steep
I love storms and storm chaser games. I used to play on Roblox because that was where the best (and free) storm chaser games were and still are. I got this game because the weather simulation is top notch, and it looked like a better looking Roblox storm chaser.
However, I was very disappointed. Firstly, the performance was awful. On a 3080ti and 5800x, I was barely getting 25 fps with setting maxed and dlss at performance. Sure, turned the settings down but it turned into a grainy mess and made the clouds look weird.
As for gameplay, there's just nothing to do. Maybe multiplayer would be better, but I'm not sure. You need SO many points to even begin to get some of the cool stuff. To get said points though, you gotta find tornado's. That means driving for a very very long distance usually, to finally see a tornado go across a field. Then it goes away, but there's another storm! Oh wait, you are almost out of gas. time to drive for 30 minutes just to do that. Then, wait and drive another 30 minutes for a possible tornado.
This wouldn't bother me as much if the world was nicer. It's all basically just a flat field it seems, with maybe a few trees, and some small houses every now and then. You can't even enter most of the buildings too. So driving so much is incredibly boring. Just hold W for 20 minutes looking at absolutely nothing.
Overall, I appreciate the realism, but this is not a fun game for me. Also $35 is insane. This is NOT worth that. Roblox has near the same game but it is actually fun, and runs good, it just doesn't look as good or have quite the same simulation. But it's free!
It's an awesome game for anyone who would like to know more about storm chasing, tornadoes or extreme weathers.
The graphics are pretty decent and all the simulations are really well made and all that while still being early access.
And trust me, once you photograph that one scenic tornado from up close towering in front of you, you will get hooked instantly!
Can highly recommend!
A massive step up from storm chasers! It has a amazing advanced radar and weather patterns, as someone that studies weather it's nice to use the IRL way. performance wise it needs work but other than that it is a must buy for a person in need of a REALISTIC storm chasing sim! IT IS A MASTERPEACE!!!
It's a fun game even though its repetitive. If you enjoy storm chasing then this is your game. Just be aware that THIS GAME DOES NOT SUPPORT MODDING. And, if you want to make the game more fun chase with friends. I was chasing alone and it wasn't the best, but with friends it more fun
It takes forever to load, all of my time spent on this game was on the, "loading player data" screen, please fix this devs.
This is my favorite game, ive always wanted to be a storm chaser and this game brings it to life while i study to become a future meteorologist.
Group chase sucks, codes don't work, game's laggy as all hell. There's no support for the game in terms of Q&A or anything. I can't recommend this shit show.
great physics but graphics could be better and more optimised but otherwise very good for an indy game
Before the update solo chasing was good, long and annoying at times, but once it got going it was fun. Now, after the update your chasing 60mph+ tornadoes each chase. It's no longer fun playing. Finally got in front of one, placed the probe only for it to be right on top of me in seconds. 5k+ score gone.
