best franchise ever !!!!! revolutionized gaming industry
It was fun. Good cutscenes and combat. Really liked the background music.
Well. After watching my brother beat this on the Xbox 360(yes...he played it all the way through, sacrilege for the PC Master Race I know) and now beating it myself once on the second hardest difficulty, Here are my thoughts.
Not as interesting or varied environment wise compared to the first one since its in New York, very linear, which WILL piss fans of the original off. suit mechanics have improved and are easier to use with the controller, plus killing Ceph gives you currency to upgrade your suit. These upgrades provide a moderate effect to gameplay, not enough to add replay value in my opinion. You also have items like dog tags and recordings to collect every mission that unlock bonus content.
The story in fairly straight forward, nothing special, better than the first in my opinion but not by much. Newbies may find this fairly outdated by todays standards. Graphics were ahead of their time but mechanics are cumbersome by todays standards and PRophet(the main character) survives about the same as the protagonist from Call of Duty, the suit doesnt really feel powerful or otherworldly in comparison to similar games like Ghostrunner. You dont get cool weapons or god tier upgrades like a plasma sword or advanced suit modes that combine functions as rewards for milestones.
I havent used mods so no idea how they work but I hear they have some great ones that add a ton of replay value
Since its till available, get it on sale if you want it over the remaster, since 30 bucks is too much for a game this old
Delist EA. Forcing third-party accounts and banning for inactivity with no appeal is predatory.
good game
I recommend this game.
Once again, John Crysis fucks my wallet by not informing me of the upcoming remaster. Well fuck you too bub
Cool!
Good ol' fashioned FPS here so there isn't much to say about it now. My own recommendation would be playing it on Hard or lower -- I've beaten it on the max difficulty BUT because you can get cut down so quickly on that mode, you feel less like a super badass and have to generally be more of a stealth "ghost" type. If you want the action hero experience, I'd go with Hard or Normal. Not a complaint, mind you. This game is good fun.
Nice Sci Fic game to play
MAXIMUM GOON
Super hero soldier against laughably bad enemy a.i. makes for a fun time.
Maximum Gameplay!!!
It's wild how 15 years later any computer can run crysis, but back in the day this was the benchmark for how good a game can look.
The game is ok, but fighting human enemies was always way funner than fighting the squids
let's see if my computer run it good lol
Crysis 2
Crysis 2 is not that bad, but I don't recommend it. It's definitely a bad sequel to the first Crysis.
Good:
One or two story elements are refreshingly realistic.
Walker enemies look and act cool.
Heavies are sufficiently dangerous to make you change tactics.
Seeing the landscape transform due to destruction is interesting.
The last third of the game is much better than the first two-thirds.
I like Prophet.
I love micro-missiles, so I liked the Swarmer gun.
Neutral:
The simplification of Nanosuit powers has upsides and downsides.
It doesn't bother me that the Ceph have walking exoskeletons. Realistically, it's expensive to hover when you can just walk.
Bad:
There are few chances to use Nanosuit powers beyond armor and cloak.
Speed is just sprinting!
Simplified physics.
The first two-thirds of the game are not engaging.
The game has an overall generic feel.
The story continues from the first Crysis, but few elements are interesting.
The interesting weapons are too rare, and it's too hard to find ammo for them.
The landscape becomes more varied physically but lacks variety in visuals.
I miss Nomad. He didn't talk much in Crysis, but I'm not sure if this main character (Alcatraz) ever spoke.
Your scientist buddy feels like he was supposed to be a "wacky scientist" or "slacker genius" but isn't developed enough and feels boring overall. He is almost likable.
The human antagonist is unlikable while also being underused.
You collect currency from dead Ceph that can be used to purchase suit upgrades, but most of them are not very useful for how much currency they cost.
Too many combat situations can be walked through without even using stealth.
The Worst:
The scale of the game was reduced to accommodate the PS3/360, but Crysis 2 often ran at sub-30 FPS on consoles, making the whole idea seem pointless.
Very good game. its very cool when you are invisable
certified hood classic
bring back the multiplayer
its ok
Worst Crysis game ever. But for some reason is my favorite of them all.
With Crysis being Crysis, the game looks fantastic. Only strange graphical thing I saw was the reload animations but for a 2011 game it looks amazing. Pretty alright story, good level design, good gun play, a lot of agency given to players to figure out their own way of tackling a situation. Good game, especially worth a pick up if on sale. Took me 8 hours to beat it on hard.
Classic
Crysis 2 - Maximum Edition takes the nanosuit action from the jungles of the original Crysis to the urban jungle of New York City. You play as Alcatraz, a marine who inherits the powerful nanosuit & becomes humanity's last hope against a Ceph invasion. While it's a departure from the open-world sandbox of the first game, Crysis 2 delivers a more focused & cinematic experience with improved visuals & refined gameplay.
The move to New York City provides a stark contrast to the tropical setting of the original. The crumbling skyscrapers & urban environments offer new opportunities for verticality & tactical gameplay. The visuals, even by today's standards, are impressive, showcasing detailed environments & impressive destruction effects. The Maximum Edition includes all the DLC, providing additional content & enhancing the overall experience.
The nanosuit returns with improved functionality, offering more fluid movement & enhanced abilities. The combat is faster & more intense, with a greater emphasis on close-quarters encounters. You'll be using your suit's Cloak, Armor, Strength, & Speed modes to outmaneuver & eliminate enemies in a variety of ways.
The story is more focused & engaging than the original, with a clearer narrative & more developed characters. While it still deals with sci-fi tropes, it presents them in a more compelling way.
However, Crysis 2's more linear level design is a point of contention for some fans. It sacrifices the open-world sandbox of the original for a more guided & cinematic experience. While this makes the game more accessible, it also limits the player's freedom & creativity.
**Pros:**
* Improved visuals & impressive destruction effects! ✨
* More focused & engaging story! 📖
* Refined nanosuit abilities & fluid movement! 🦸♂️
* Intense & fast-paced combat! 💥
* New York City setting provides a unique urban playground! 🏙️
**Cons:**
* More linear level design compared to the original! 🗺️
* Sacrifices some of the open-world sandbox elements! 😔
* Some dated gameplay elements are still present! 🎮
**Verdict:** 8/10. Crysis 2 - Maximum Edition is a strong entry in the Crysis series that delivers a more focused & cinematic experience than its predecessor. While it sacrifices some of the open-world freedom, it compensates with improved visuals, refined gameplay, & a more engaging story. It's a thrilling action game that showcases the power of the nanosuit in a unique urban setting. It's a must-play for fans of the series & those looking for a solid action shooter. 🗽

Crysis 2 set out to take everything that made its predecessor a technical marvel and refine it into a more accessible, fast-paced shooter.
And while it certainly delivers some thrilling moments and impressive visuals, it doesn’t quite recapture the open-world jungle stealth that made the first game so iconic.
The change in setting from the jungle to an urban environment is a bold shift, but it introduces a more linear structure that feels somewhat restrictive, especially for those who loved the sandbox-style freedom of the first game.
New York itself is a beautifully detailed war zone, but it’s a far cry from the lush, expansive jungles of Crysis.
One of the standout features of Crysis 2 is, unsurprisingly, its visual fidelity.
The game is absolutely stunning, with some of the best lighting and detailed textures of its time.
The city’s towering skyscrapers and desolate streets look phenomenal, with dynamic weather and destruction adding to the immersion.
If you’re playing it on a capable machine, it’s easy to get lost in the beauty of it all.
The Nanosuit still provides a range of abilities, but this time, combat is much more action-focused.
The addition of a more streamlined experience, including quicker movements, tight corridors, and intense firefights, turns Crysis 2 into a more traditional first-person shooter.
While the cloak and armor abilities are still enjoyable, the focus on tighter levels and less open-ended gameplay doesn’t give you the same sense of power or freedom as the first game did.
The game feels more like a "shoot 'em up" than the strategic, stealth-based experience that Crysis offered.
Combat itself is solid, with well-designed weapons and enemy AI that offers a decent challenge.
The alien enemies, while interesting and varied, don’t evoke the same awe as the ones in the first game, and their repetitive design often makes encounters feel formulaic.
The inclusion of human enemies, however, brings a decent level of variety to the action.
Unfortunately, the narrative doesn’t do much to elevate the experience.
The plot feels like a typical alien invasion story, and the characters, including Alcatraz, are flat and lack the emotional depth that would have made the stakes feel more meaningful.
All in all, Crysis 2 is a game with plenty of technical polish and high-octane action, but it falls short of recapturing the magic of the original.
The switch to a more linear structure, coupled with a less captivating story, makes it feel more like a solid shooter than the genre-defining experience the first game was.
If you're in it for the action and beautiful visuals, Crysis 2 delivers.
But if you were hoping for the same kind of immersive, open-world stealth and freedom that made the original such a standout, you may find yourself a bit disappointed.
A visually stunning, action-packed shooter that doesn't quite live up to its predecessor's legacy.
+ Intense combat, aliens are convincing, the theme of continuing to pursue mission at all costs
suit mechanics intriguing
- poor AI, some dullness in environments, a little cliched?
overall a very good experience
Crysis 2 - Maximum Edition is an absolute gem! The game offers a fantastic mix of action, stunning visuals, and an open world that completely immerses you. The story is gripping, and post-apocalyptic New York is beautifully crafted.
What I love most is the flexibility and options provided by the NanoSuit. You can go invisible or focus on raw power – each mission feels different and incredibly fun.
The graphics are still breathtaking, and the action sequences will keep you on the edge of your seat. Crysis 2 is a perfect blend of technical excellence and thrilling gameplay.
9/10 – If you love action and high-quality shooters, this game will definitely not disappoint!

Crysis 2: Maximum Edition is not just a game, but a real adventure in the world of science fiction and intense combat. Having spent over 1,000 hours in it, I can say with confidence that this part of the series has left an indelible impression.
The plot of Crysis 2 takes place in a post-apocalyptic New York City, invaded by alien invaders. Millions of residents are dying, the streets are plunged into chaos, and only Nanosuit 2 technology can save humanity from total annihilation. You will have to assume the role of the wearer of this powerful suit and engage in an unequal battle with the aliens.
The atmosphere of the game is exciting from the very first minutes. Destroyed skyscrapers, burning streets and the constant threat from aliens create a unique environment that keeps you in suspense throughout the passage.
One of the main features of Crysis 2 is the ability to use Nanosuit. This costume grants the player superhuman abilities such as invisibility, enhanced armor, and increased speed. These abilities allow you to adapt to different combat situations and find unique solutions for each task.
The combat system in the game is diverse and offers many options for approaching each opponent. You can choose between stealth tactics, the use of shelters and open combat encounters. This makes each battle unique and requires the player to think strategically.
Crysis 2: Maximum Edition includes all Limited Edition materials, as well as two downloadable add—ons - "Extermination" and "Retribution". In addition, the set includes nine additional maps for the collective game mode, two new weapons (FY71 Assault Rifle and M18 Smoke Grenade), additional experience points, a unique design for the SCAR rifle and a nozzle with a holographic module. The set also includes unique platinum medallions that are not included in the base version of the game.
These additional materials significantly enhance the gaming experience by adding new maps and team play options, making Maximum Edition especially appealing to fans of the series.
The graphics in Crysis 2 are amazing in their detail and quality. The destructible environment, dynamic lighting and shadows create an incredibly realistic picture. The soundtrack is also excellent: from the sounds of footsteps to powerful explosions, every aspect of the sound design is flawlessly executed.
Conclusion:
This is a great game that offers an exciting storyline, varied gameplay and impressive graphics. Having spent more than 1,000 hours in it, I can confidently say that this part of the series has become one of the best in the genre. If you are looking for a rich and dynamic shooter with elements of science fiction, Crysis 2 is your choice.
Decent enough shooter. The story was much more interesting in the original games, but the gunplay is superior here. Stupid checkpoint system and you cant save your progress at will, so you might have to replay certain sections. Overall, not too bad. Experienced minor visual glitches but that might have been my hardware.
This version has a refresh rate and fps cap issue. Refresh rate gets stuck to a low setting and cannot be run above 60 fps without v-sync turned off which then introduces screen tearing. Even at 60 fps with v-sync engaged the game is difficult to enjoy/play as it does not feel smooth because of the possible refresh rate bug causing frame-times to be wildly inconsistent.
Some of the animations and effects can also be noticeably seen to run around at a lower frame-rate which further does not help this version age well unfortunately. The visual colours depending on individual preferences and some lighting choices are better than the remaster imo but overall the remastered version apart from choice of colour grading is improved.
This game is still as fun to play as it was back in it's day, what I am even more impressed with is how much better the game plays and feels on an non windows based system to the point you really don't need windows 10 or 11 OS to play games, these days there are better options.
from a childhood~
they dont make them like this anymore.
technologically, the games industry has largely stood still since the early 2010s.
scopebloat and quotas have killed ambition.
you must return to a forgotten genre of the past and learn what they have stolen from us.
Crysis 2 is where they lost me for the story, dont get me wrong its not a bad sci-fi fps sotry but its nowhere nears as good as C1 & CW. They kinda changed the whole direction of the series and the characters choosing to give the other 2 protagonists a non existent seat while making Prophet the main character for the foreseeable future. Other than the story though the game is pretty fun. They dumbed down alot of the features so it could be ported to console alot easier which is a bit of a letdown but nothing too bad. Still really enjoyed this game, If CW is 9/10 & C1 is a 8/10 overall, then C2 is probably a 5/10 for story and 6.8/10 for gameplay.
Good game pretty fun
I personally prefer the more linear action packed missions the maps though not as open still allow for stealth and i found my self using it more than i thought i would.
I've only played three hours of the game, so literally take everything what I'm going to say with the fattest grains of salt. This game thus far is dope. Playing the game is like watching a Michael Bay film. There's no Megan Fox but plenty hot steamy action to get your blood going. The graphics are better than most games in 2024.
A short but sweet 6 hour Campaign. Voice acting is mid and can get drowned out by the music half the time, but the combat is still pretty fun. And of course, as a Crysis game, even for 2011, it still looks gorgeous over a decade later.
Also, this is random, but I swear half the time the subtitles don't match what the characters are saying - particularly Gould. There's even some scenes where he's moving but not saying anything. It feels like they re-recorded lines for him but forgot to update the script - or maybe it's just a simple error. Weird that it happens the entire game though.
Really fun continuation, quite different in many aspects but a lot of good additions. Too short
This game is literally hard just for the sake of being mean-spirited. (The original had the same issue, so my fault for being so cluelessly optimistic, I suppose.)
If, like me, you love FPS games, but don't need them to be overly difficult, don't buy this. It has precious few difficulty options, and those it has are not helpful at making the game an enjoyable experience. I had to use cheats to feel that I got anything out of this title, which is never a great sign for the game design in general.
Please add sex with Big Tiddy Goth Chicks
Scarab my beloved.
This game is so dull and repetitive that even after over a decade I still can't bring myself to finish it for a second time
YET ANOTHER CLASSIC FRIM cRYTRCG[
Yer anothrt
other classic from Crytech. way different art direction than Crysis
it cafried the deasly cwdiseease
A great game! Much improved follow on to the previous versions. Excellent!
Although much more linear than the first game with some mechanics "streamlined" (dumbed-down) the game is still very enjoyable. Great variety in weapons and enemies with some brilliant set pieces. It does feel a bit like it is trying to be COD too much at times but I would still recommend the game.
It fleshes out the characters and story much more than the first game and takes everything in an interesting and entertaining direction.
Probably the best in the series as it has the best locations and the best encounters.
Visually spectacular franchise and this game doesnt disappoint.
Campaign is great but from ny experience the mp wasnt so good (lag issues since all the games werw from europe) but its a great game none the less and its great with reshade/nvidia freestyle
The graphics are real and the gameplay is immersive
Best RPG ever. Full stop.
superb
