Look I'll be serious with you developer. I seriously want to love this franchise :(. But its just not good. That hurts to say. Just take your time and read other reviews who are detailed. I'm still cheering for you Dead Drop Studios.
Bought it for $2 and got my money back. Maybe solo this game might be fun, but i usually scour the internet looking for split screen games to play with my wife and the split screen mode was absolutely unplayable. Every time you pick up an item, the whole game pauses; Player 2 find ammo they need? game pauses.
Its unplayable if you're looking for a game to play local co-op.
Terrible .... just terrible. The controls are janky, the gun sweep is bad, aiming is worthless. Running a Ryzen 7 5800 AMD 2000 GPU and the game is horrible.
i bought this game the other day for my steam deck just to try it out cause i love zombie games and this one has been showing up a lot in my steam store suggestions cause i play a lot of zombie games. So far i love this game and i will be purchasing the other outbreak titles for my steam deck and my PS 4. My only gripe about this game so far is the running mechanics. The way the character runs is a little off and the character seems to run out of stamina rather quickly, and there's no way to gauge how much juice you have as there's no stamina bar visible on the screen. On a more positive note i love the melee attacks with the hunting knife on this game. From the speed of the attacks down to the line of the attacks are awesome and probably the best melee with a knife in a zombie game compared to the ones i've been playing as of late. Also note that the game plays great on the deck and should be steam deck verified.
Had the game for too long to refund. It's absolute garbage though. Very unfinished if you ask me. Not worth the couple dollars I paid for it. Do not buy it.
It could have a campaign story, like Lost Hope.
This game is worth 2 dollars to play around and goof with some friends. Yet past the one hour mark you get bored as the stages are janky and the animations are VERY poor. Picking up items is as annoying as Resident evil one for the playstation one if not a little worse on night mare as the zombies just chase you until you kill them. You don't really have anywhere to go as the stages are liner.

Bought it to play in split screen on PC, one player with keyboard and another with a controller. It hasn't worked though, the controls are messy to set up as it sets player 1 both with controller and keyboard and then for player 2 you can only play with the keyboard and won't allow you to configure the mouse to it as well. So player one is blocked to the controller and mouse. How are you supposed to play with player 2 just with the keyboard?....
I do not recommend this game and let me tell you why.

If you are looking for a zombie shooter, get others that are well known. This game needs a lot of work.

First: If i'm in a area that's infested with monsters, I do not need to be asked if I want to take a gun. When you're about to get a weapon, the game asks you "Do you want to pick up the handgun?" what really? If I approach an item, it's because I want to inspect the item or take it. Give me the damn gun and that's it!

When you do pick up a weapon, you're only given a VERY small amount on ammo and a small amount is like maybe enough to kill one monster. that's it. You can't do anything else but to run away and look for ammo.

I could look past the wonky walking animations, it's just the gameplay that killed it. I played it in single player and after seeing all this i have no intentions to do online. Will be requesting for a refund.

you have a solid concept, you just need to add the work to it. I know what it takes to make a game because I too have been making one, but there is no excuse on why such a crap product such as this one was release. There's no excuse at all. Either contract the right people or hire what you need. Oh and for all that is holy and sacred, you flood the entire screen with information that I could careless when I'm trying to survive, you have information LITERALLY in the center of the screen, I can't see what I'm shooting at.

I'll change my review once actual progress has been made to this game. until then, my review stands firm.
While not the worst game you will play, the controls are stiff and sluggish, the zombie's AI being way too simple and the camera needs to be closer to the shoulder of the character as aiming feels disconnected. Buy the game when it's super cheap if you are curious but it's not worth the full price. A shame as the game has some potential which hopefully shows itself in the next title in the series.

This game sort of reminds me of resident evil 4, if they turned off the lights. Definitely a very big resource management game, you can also play it with co-op and there's a discord to talk to the owner if you have opinions on the game. I definitely recommend it for solo or with a friend play.
For anyone that played Outbreak: Lost Hope this feels like a natural sequel but with co-op added in.
Now I've only played it solo so far but I enjoyed my time with it. Differences from the previous game other than the multiplayer aspect are amongst other things the fact that it is now split into levels rather than being a smooth single world. It also has no save system so you gotta beat levels in one go and if you die it's back to the beginning.
Another change is that enemies no longer stumble to let you more easily run past like they did before, which makes sense since this isn't as focused on conserving ammunition. They do however now take increased damage from headshots instead which is a welcome addition.
One thing that didn't bother me playing solo but I could imagine might annoy some people when playing multiplayer is that there are quite a few puzzles that require you to stop and read documents for hints.
Anyways, not the best in the series but it's pretty fun and does bring some new things to the table.
Good game and backstories. I enjoy story rich third person shooters, and this is a pretty good game. However, the issues I have is controls can be jerky or delayed, and it takes a while to load. The nightmare chronicles is still my favorite out of the franchise.

We completed the story on a 2 player game on EASY. i may be ignorant to any changes per difficulty besides what is already said at the menu. All stairwells, any steps for that matter, we would see our characters get stuck. we had to jiggle a little to move. I like the lumberjack class. That life steal with a sledgehammer. My gosh lol. Running stamina is short. It is what it is. I haven't tried any Crippling shots towards the legs. Not sure if it is applied. oh the grenade launcher, i shot the ground expecting an immediate kill on small zombies. they were just engulfed in flames. seems under powered. the magnum is the best. no contest. From where the series started, top-down view to a classic resident evil camera to a 3rd person shooter game. Excellent. This game is evolving. I assume in little time it'll only get better and better.
A fantastic homage to the equally amazing Resident Evil Outbreak series of games, that wears it's inspirations proudly. Made by just one very talented and inspiring man this has legs to grow on and with a focus on teamwork, co-operation and generally working together, this is an intelligently and well put together series of scenarios that will test your memory, patience, skill and hand eye dexterity.
The experience gain is tied to the difficulty and progress you choose and make and because of this it can feel slow but the most I can say is.. Don't give up! (and add me so we can play together ;)) because the further you progress and the better you get and predicting what's going to happen then the faster you will level because upon completion of scenarios you get a big chunk of XP which most reviews below me seem to not be acknowledging xD
Also the controls... aside from being almost completely changeable are very old school in a sense and although updates change this, without tweaking and tinkering they make take getting used to for some players, but personally as a fan of the resident evil series I feel right at home.
All in all a fantastic game and series of games that I will continue to support forever, this is very clearly a passion project made by a passionate, solo and dedicated creator, I wish you the best sir and I hope that to anyone who reads this, that you give this game a chance and see it from a fair perspective! :D
