amazing but new vegas is way better
Tried it for the story, stayed for the atmosphere.
Esqueçi de fazer uma analise mais esso jogo foi bem massa porem tem o escorpiao gigante
The story and the beautiful graphics. I think this maybe the best fallout game
Bethesda Softworks obtained the Fallout license through disgusting and immoral methods and should never make another Fallout game or media item again. I do not recommend ever buying their games at any store. P*rate them all instead.
Huge fallout guy, I've enjoyed all of them (not 76). Cannot for the life of me get this game to run. I've gone to every chat room and read everything to find the secret mod to make this game run on my PC and nothing works. Shame because I loved this game the first time I played it.
This game definitely deserves more attention than it got. It is very underrated for what is essentially just New Vegas if it was made by Bethesda. I could go on why you should buy it, but come on. Steam has a refund policy for a reason. Buy the game, play it for an hour or two, and tell for yourself if it is worth your while.
Great game. Play it when im bored but it kinda sucks that i have to use an anti-crash mod just for the game to boot up properly.
i love fallout 3 but it runs terribly here. dont play without mods to make it run better and improve graphics
This was my first introduction into the Fallout series, loved every second of it and made me immediately pick-up the other installments in the series. Great gameplay and story, would recommend.
overrated, its like fnv but shit
empty world
boring story
crashes, bugs, you name it
bethesda touched this franchise and it turned to shit
Review originally written 3/11/24 on the Game of the Year edition, copying it here since it was in no way specific to that version, and I can't review the DLCs individually so I will write a new review on "Fallout 3 GOTY" which is actually a review of the DLCs.
I have not played this game for 3 hours, but rather probably at least 300; for some reason Steam doesn't detect my activity. Anyway, based on my six or so months of playing for nearly every spare hour I could manage, I have come to the conclusion that this is one of the best video games of all time, just full stop. The roleplaying potential is tremendous, the FPS mechanics are viscerally quite satisfying, and the use of interesting random encounters that can interact with other random encounters gives the game nearly endless replay value. While it shows its age in clunky graphics, buggy physics and display issues, a relatively small number of choices in dialogue, and the infamous "Bethesda face" problem, all of these are minor detractions from one of the deepest, most enjoyable gaming experiences of all time. I've tried Fallout 4 as well as the various Elder Scrolls titles, notably Oblivion which predated this by only 2 years, but none of these other WRPGs came even close to winning a permanent place in my heart the way this one has.
Addendum 3/13/25 - Aside from the fact that my six months is now up to eighteen, and the 300 hours is now 500 at minimum (I have been busy IRL or it'd be closer to 1000), I have nothing to really add to this original analysis of just the base game. It could be better, but it's still my absolute favorite game, with its only real competitors being other Bethesda RPGs and the coincidentally similar (but incredibly buggy) Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, my current second-favorite despite its unfinished state (see my review there).
Best Fallout story of all the games. Hands down. Play Fallout 4 to build settlements and do crazy builds. Play New Vegas to rp with all the funny npc's. Play 3 to experience the best written story. You owe it to yourself to visit the Natural History Museum.
yeah it is good
love lone wanderer
my ip is 9382094809
real fun, dont think ill be playing it for a long while tho.......
DO NOT PURCHASE - THIS PRODUCT IS A SCAM.
The game does not function as a base product without extensive time wasted downloading mods just to get the game to launch in the first place.
Steam refuses to remedy the situation either through providing a refund or through requiring the company responsible to repair the broken state of the game.
The game is alright, but having played this for the first time AFTER playing New Vegas & Fallout 4 was not the best experience, it didn't live up to the subsequent games.
The gameplay, UI, combat, skills, perks, etc. are all just like in New Vegas, but worse, and buggier. The map & quests are like Fallout 4, but worse, with tons of obstacles & invisible walls that force you to use underground metro tunnels that often make no sense. Also the repair mechanic feels so bad.
Visually I had a rough time, everything is grey & beige with a slight green tinge, making it a struggle to differentiate things; it was honestly hard on my eyes. I completely missed doors & containers constantly. New Vegas had a similar issue, but it’s worse here. The ugly NPCs didn’t help, though that’s normal for 2008 I guess.
Some quests didn’t have any tracking so I had to write down on a piece of paper to not forget. Might be fine for most people, but I have brain issues so this could be pretty gruelling at times.
I understand that this game had to happen for us to get better Fallout games afterwards, learning from their mistakes and improving their craft; at its release time the game was probably great. It has a place within the Fallout games, and if you like the series I would recommend it. I just felt disappointed since I played the better entries before this one.
this game is challenging st first but after a while you get use to constant pain
Solid game, love shooting people and shooting anyone else who has a problem with it 👍
Fallout 3 is a good game and I write this in complete sincerity. One should approach a playthrough of this game much differently than they would with a playthrough of Fallout: New Vegas. This is because the latter is a traditional RPG while the former, despite being marketed as an RPG, is more of an action-adventure dungeon crawler with light RPG elements. Both of these games are good games but have vastly different appeal. What can be expected from Fallout 3 is an extremely amusing journey through a wonderfully crafted post-apocalyptic DC with a satisfying gameplay loop.
The reason why I discount role-playing in this game is that it’s something possible only in theory. You ARE presented with choices throughout the game (when the game isn’t forcing you to side with a particular faction or complete a quest in a certain way) and there are plenty of opportunities to define your character as an individual yet most of what this game has to offer is only available by playing a certain way; that is, in adherence to Bethesda Morality. Take on armies of slavers single-handedly with very little incentive to do so! Protect destitute sheepish wastelanders from armed gangs! Clear out an entire city block filled with fire ants along with an entire nest of them just because some random orphan asked you too! These are just a few examples of the silly situations the game thrusts upon the Lone Wanderer and not choosing the ethical option will effectively see you missing out on most of the game’s content. The game’s karma system is equally silly. A few egregious examples of it would be the time I lost karma for shooting a wastelander who dared me to shoot him and defending my home at Tenpenny Tower from ghouls who intended to launch an assault on it. In my opinion, it’s best to just ignore the karma system altogether and when it comes to quests, just do whatever you find to be most amusing. Also, as many Serious Hat video essayists have so brilliantly pontificated about, the world of post-apocalyptic DC is not at all immersive, but in my opinion, this is a good thing. The world of Fallout 3 is genuinely hilarious and it’s as though everything in the original Fallout games that could be considered zany was dialed up exponentially. And of course this game has that old Bethesda charm which made their games so memorable. Nuka Cola is kino. Super mutants are kino. Killing super mutants is kino. Little Lamplight is kino. Harold the Tree is kino. Mothership Zeta is kino. Megaton is kino. Nuking Megaton is kino. Suffice to say, this game is quite the spectacle and will leave you wondering upon completion of a quest, what else is out there in the Capital Wasteland?
I feel as though that especially since the advent of Starfield, the older Bethesda games have come under a lot more scrutiny not just in terms of story and worldbuilding but gameplay too. Countless anecdotes found in youtube comments of people talking about how the game is literally (not metaphorically) unplayable have left me wondering, did they play the same game as I did? The build I chose at the start of the game prioritised strength and aptitude with multiple different weapon types so I’d always have a plethora of armaments at my disposal for whatever the Capital Wastelands had in store for me. It’s hard for gameplay to become dull and repetitive when you are constantly changing weapons. Blowing people’s heads off with a combat shotgun and VATS is also always a fun option. Bethesda created a truly epic world with the Capital Wasteland especially the inner city ruins and the abandoned metro system. The soundtrack composed by Inon Zur also does a great job immersing you in exploration. This may be a controversial take but I also quite like the level design in this game enough so to recommend this game as a dungeon crawler.
Overall, this game certainly isn’t a masterclass in terms of writing, completely lacking the severity such a setting should convey but nonetheless for the reasons I have outlined above, it has my recommendation and endorsement.
Well, what I have to say is that Fallout 3 is an incredible game with a great story, featuring excellent graphics for the time it was released and functional gameplay. Along the way, you can choose to be a good person, helping everyone, or simply annihilate your enemies, including people who have nothing to do with it. This is something worth praising, as you can play the game multiple times and experience a different story, depending on how you choose to play. In short, I love this franchise, where we can live in a post-apocalyptic world.
It was annoying to download a mod to even get this game to run, however once I did so, it ran without a problem. Fallout 3 is my favorite Fallout game so getting it on PC was cool.

Fallout 3 is better than New Vegas. 'Nuff said.
P.S: Watch a YouTube video on how to launch the game properly.
Kinda ass but enjoyable to a extent.
I like it honestly i get to experience what is it like as a vault dweller from vault 101 as a baby to a teen
It's Oblivion with guns. But I like it even more than Oblivion!
Shame that Bethesda didn't release it on modern consoles.
It was a great game when it came out and even now after all these years it's still a great game with many hours of excitement for you
good game really cool if doenst work then go on nexus mod and get the intel bypass mod and watch a tutorial on how to do it and it should work
ive played since it came out, more than 40 hours obvsly. Never stopped playing (couple breaks in between obsvly). You wont be disapointed or somes mods will soothe whats wrong.
WONT LOAD BUT LOOKS FUN
7/10
i just love this game, the fallout games are just perfect
I mean it's Fallout 3, what more can be said.
A freaking classic! Its definetly not like the other 3d games but damn its still good! It walked so New Vegas and F04 could run. I love the vaults, and the setting is great! Letting the player start exploring right out the vault is awesome! Overall, an amazing Open World shooter! A must play of the series! And dont even get me started on the story and lore of the game!
no ammo anywhere :(
