like the game 8.5 not many weapons story line mid fallout new veges better hard to get around not worth the price if it was 10$ it's worth it then but no
i would really like this game i just dont really like how the main the quest is kind of short
If you are a fan of shooter RPG's, then this game is for you.
I absolutely love the different character interactions, and how what you say can lead to different outcomes within the story.
Gameplay is also greater than ever, I am a huge fan of either being able to take on the enemy headfirst with classic FPS mechanics, or using the VATS to target the most critical hit points, or even using both which I mainly do. Overall a 2000s classic, please purchase this whenever you have a chance.
(My only warning is if you want to keep it stable when running, please look for the Intel HD Graphics mod, then you're solid.)
Solid 10/10 masterpiece.
GO BUY THE GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION
Had a pretty long ass review written on this but figured I'd shorten it up. This game is just as much the tits as it was 17 years ago. Graphically it's aged pretty damn well imo. Ive had zero issues and crashes, thanks to the removal of GFWL. Downloaded a couple of mods like the unofficial patch but honestly, it's a complete "plug-n-play" package right out the box; a rarity these days for games released pre-2010. Havent played it since before NV released and it was a breath of fresh air, with the bull shit that Bethesda has released since FO4 (havent played NV or 4 since their releases either for what it's worth). The music is solid and GNR (a radio station in game) is a must when playing the game. Overall it's still a fantastic game and rpg and holds up well in 2025. Just dont expect 2025 quality and youll have fun.
If youre like me and havent played 3 or any FO in awhile, it's definitely worth checking out or revisiting, especially if youre a fan of old Bethesda games.
If you wanna mod the game, youre gonna need the game of the year edition.
I love the game, wish I would have bought the GOTY. It refuses to run in embedded Intel graphics tho just fyi
broken and unplayable with out mods Bethesda you are dumb how and why would you update a game after years of basically not giving a fuck about it then decide yea lets update it only to break it and not immediately update or relaease a patch afterwards to fix the new problem you morons made i hope the modders don't decide to never aid you in any more future titles forever or your days are numbered especially the star field failure
One of the better fallouts for sure, there are things i like about the other games that i wish were included in this one but all around fallout 3 is the best fallout.
Honestly? Fallout 3's kind of a shit game. Uninteresting storyline that barely counts as a "role-playing game" with the lack of any significant decisions on your part that aren't "be good" or "be bad". The game looks like shit and is arguably the worst looking Bethesda game tied with Oblivion (but Oblivion is good to make up for it). The gunplay is atrocious even for 2008 (see Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, a janky ass game that does it much better), and for some god forsaken reason there are no iron sights??? Sure, why not. The game reuses practically every major faction from the previous titles despite it taking place completely separately from 1 & 2 and 2,793 miles away, and makes them all uninteresting. The Enclave returns despite being defeated in 2, but why not? The writers needed to bring them back! The wasteland is rubble and grey bullshit even though the bombs dropped 200 damn years ago. I know the comparisons have been done over and over, but New Vegas really did do everything better than 3 and is like, 30x better.
Game lets you play tank while your laser minigun wielding party member smosh little men
The game that got me into the Fallout franchise. My friend back in the day had his MSN display picture as the vault boy. Curious I asked him who that cute character was. That is when my obsession with Fallout was born. I LOVE this game, I love New Vegas. To me Fallout 4 and 76 pale in comparison. Both not bad games by any means, But just don’t compare to the charm of 3 and New Vegas.
Why Steam allows this bull*hit is beyond me, game is unplayable, you need player made fixes just to run it.
no comment on the game since it doesn't work!
It's still an excellent game even after all these years. It has many bugs which are annoying as hell but...other than that it is a great action rpg game with good gameplay, a solid story and a rich world with many things to do in it. Would recomend.
7.5/10
You would think that in the 17 years since this game was released, Bethesda would release a patch so that this game actually works on P.C. Instead they rely on the modding community to fix their laziness. I spent 2 hours configuring this game to work on my modern P.C, just to have my game come to a halt from a game breaking bug and it's completely ruined my experience. 14 years waiting on Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 4 was generic, linear and boring. Starfield was pure trash. Unimaginative, over-hyped, generic garbage. Now, they release a vanity project, a remake of a 19 year old game (Oblivion) just to undermine Skyblivion, a masterpiece made by the community. The community that have made their game playable over the last 20 years. I wont be buying a Bethesda title again, they continue to disappoint and undermine the people who support them. They don't listen to feedback from their community because all they want to do is cash grab for the trash they release and people stupidly hand over their money. ZzZzZzZz...
My first Fallout game and one of my first games of all time
Amazing game
Very fun, would nuke megaton again
Before I go into any more detail: I have over 100h hours in the game but since my ROG Ally does mess with the controlls when Steam is running in the back I have to run it directly from the EXE.
This game is an experience for itself. Here your journey is your goal. It is slow but by that you get confronted way more with the dangers of the post apocalyptic world.
I do like it a lot and can recommend it.
fallout new vegas but even buggier and a bit rougher around the edges, if you liked new vegas youll like this too
War forgot to change 3 : the first mainline game not in California
Ah, when bethesda still made very good games, it's immersive world, wonderful rpg mechanics, and the post apocalyptic story. It's an amazing game, and I recommend playing the sequel as well
after like a decade of trying to understand the appeal of bethesda rpgs, the only one I ever actually completed was fallout 3
This is a great game, or it would be at least except it doesn't open on my computer which is why I'm not recommending it, No problems with the content though, from what I can remember from my old computer, the game was enjoyable with a great map.
this game is so fun i love it so much one of my favorite fallouts
good but just a pain to get working as it commonly crashes upon pressing the play button along with other bugs
Played this after new vegas and can't understand the hate it gets... Great story, great gameplay, the game crashed like twice in my entire playthough. Overall great game!
Classic but always crashes for me.
I love every Fallout game and I'm about to replay 3 - I'm so excited.
this is one of those follow online guide games where you can't really enjoy it properly unless you follow guides online to get certain endings and events to trigger which ruins a lot of the magic compared to games you just play without having any guide open on your second monitor
buy the g.o.t.y version or pirate the dlcs(dont ask me how to)
This game is timeless, and will be so until the end of dawn and the universe. Recommend to anyone who likes games a little bit, because this includes so many parts that good games include, good gameplay, astounding story. And fantastic characters are just few of the reasons why this is my all time favorite video game.
It's very sibipippi but very hard
Wtf is this game more stable than New Vegas? Lmao... Also I just like this game more. Controversial Opinion, ik.
Pretty good game. Fun gameplay, excellent world building, and a great cast of characters. But I have some complaints:
1. Takes a little too long to get going. I can handle slow games but it took far too long to get good here.
2. The tunnels were actual hell. Boring, claustrophobic, and overall just not fun.
3. The ending, while unexpected, feels very abrupt and has a severe lack of weight. The credits narration made the whole thing feel like "Unbreakable" by M. Night Shyamalan.
It is quite addicting, though. I feel like I haven't left my bedroom in a week. Good game, tunnel bad.
amazing but new vegas is way better
Tried it for the story, stayed for the atmosphere.
Esqueçi de fazer uma analise mais esso jogo foi bem massa porem tem o escorpiao gigante
The story and the beautiful graphics. I think this maybe the best fallout game
Bethesda Softworks obtained the Fallout license through disgusting and immoral methods and should never make another Fallout game or media item again. I do not recommend ever buying their games at any store. P*rate them all instead.
Huge fallout guy, I've enjoyed all of them (not 76). Cannot for the life of me get this game to run. I've gone to every chat room and read everything to find the secret mod to make this game run on my PC and nothing works. Shame because I loved this game the first time I played it.
gud gaem
This game definitely deserves more attention than it got. It is very underrated for what is essentially just New Vegas if it was made by Bethesda. I could go on why you should buy it, but come on. Steam has a refund policy for a reason. Buy the game, play it for an hour or two, and tell for yourself if it is worth your while.
Great game. Play it when im bored but it kinda sucks that i have to use an anti-crash mod just for the game to boot up properly.
i love fallout 3 but it runs terribly here. dont play without mods to make it run better and improve graphics
This was my first introduction into the Fallout series, loved every second of it and made me immediately pick-up the other installments in the series. Great gameplay and story, would recommend.
overrated, its like fnv but shit
empty world
boring story
crashes, bugs, you name it
bethesda touched this franchise and it turned to shit
Review originally written 3/11/24 on the Game of the Year edition, copying it here since it was in no way specific to that version, and I can't review the DLCs individually so I will write a new review on "Fallout 3 GOTY" which is actually a review of the DLCs.
I have not played this game for 3 hours, but rather probably at least 300; for some reason Steam doesn't detect my activity. Anyway, based on my six or so months of playing for nearly every spare hour I could manage, I have come to the conclusion that this is one of the best video games of all time, just full stop. The roleplaying potential is tremendous, the FPS mechanics are viscerally quite satisfying, and the use of interesting random encounters that can interact with other random encounters gives the game nearly endless replay value. While it shows its age in clunky graphics, buggy physics and display issues, a relatively small number of choices in dialogue, and the infamous "Bethesda face" problem, all of these are minor detractions from one of the deepest, most enjoyable gaming experiences of all time. I've tried Fallout 4 as well as the various Elder Scrolls titles, notably Oblivion which predated this by only 2 years, but none of these other WRPGs came even close to winning a permanent place in my heart the way this one has.
Addendum 3/13/25 - Aside from the fact that my six months is now up to eighteen, and the 300 hours is now 500 at minimum (I have been busy IRL or it'd be closer to 1000), I have nothing to really add to this original analysis of just the base game. It could be better, but it's still my absolute favorite game, with its only real competitors being other Bethesda RPGs and the coincidentally similar (but incredibly buggy) Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, my current second-favorite despite its unfinished state (see my review there).
Best Fallout story of all the games. Hands down. Play Fallout 4 to build settlements and do crazy builds. Play New Vegas to rp with all the funny npc's. Play 3 to experience the best written story. You owe it to yourself to visit the Natural History Museum.
yeah it is good
love lone wanderer
my ip is 9382094809
real fun, dont think ill be playing it for a long while tho.......
DO NOT PURCHASE - THIS PRODUCT IS A SCAM.
The game does not function as a base product without extensive time wasted downloading mods just to get the game to launch in the first place.
Steam refuses to remedy the situation either through providing a refund or through requiring the company responsible to repair the broken state of the game.
The game is alright, but having played this for the first time AFTER playing New Vegas & Fallout 4 was not the best experience, it didn't live up to the subsequent games.
The gameplay, UI, combat, skills, perks, etc. are all just like in New Vegas, but worse, and buggier. The map & quests are like Fallout 4, but worse, with tons of obstacles & invisible walls that force you to use underground metro tunnels that often make no sense. Also the repair mechanic feels so bad.
Visually I had a rough time, everything is grey & beige with a slight green tinge, making it a struggle to differentiate things; it was honestly hard on my eyes. I completely missed doors & containers constantly. New Vegas had a similar issue, but it’s worse here. The ugly NPCs didn’t help, though that’s normal for 2008 I guess.
Some quests didn’t have any tracking so I had to write down on a piece of paper to not forget. Might be fine for most people, but I have brain issues so this could be pretty gruelling at times.
I understand that this game had to happen for us to get better Fallout games afterwards, learning from their mistakes and improving their craft; at its release time the game was probably great. It has a place within the Fallout games, and if you like the series I would recommend it. I just felt disappointed since I played the better entries before this one.
