this game is good but the pc port is so f***ing dog sh*t that i recommend just getting it on a xbox 360 emulator
(problems with the pc port listed bellow)
-Random crashes
-The game is stuck in 4:3 even when the resolution is to a 16:9 resolution (makes the mouse sensitivity go haywire)
-Alt+tab (or windows key) has a 90% chance to make the game shit its self
-Poor fps (i have a 1650 more than the recommended specs)
-Saves just randomly breaking cause fuck you i guess

but you know if allat aint a problem for you buy this game on steam and keep letting bethesda know that releasing broken games is ok
Steam time is bugged due to Bethesda never fixing the game launching, i have about 40 hours in the game
One of the greats of first person RPGS, its no fallout new vegas its very fun though

I have played this game several times all the way thru and I have loved it each time. It is very engaging and has moments that make you think your way thri them so you survive.
I really enjoyed Fallout 3! The open world, compelling story, and endless exploration kept me hooked. It’s packed with atmosphere and unique characters that made every moment feel epic. A must-play for any RPG fan!
Lovely dialogue and animation given when it was made. very nostalgic as i used to play it as a kid although the quests are a bit confusing to me at times

I do not recommend buying Fallout 3 in its current state. It is an abuse to the consumer that the game is still on sale without being able to run correctly without resorting to solutions entirely created by the community. It is very common to encounter errors when opening it, especially on current devices, which is really a shame because it is a good game.
Fallout 3 offers an interesting story that keeps you hooked for a long time. The narrative immerses you in a post-apocalyptic world with a unique and detailed atmosphere. However, the gameplay, like in many Bethesda games, is deficient in some points. Errors are very common, which can affect the gaming experience.
Despite these problems, Fallout 3 remains enjoyable. Exploring the vast open world and making moral decisions adds depth to the game. The characters you meet are memorable, and the setting is impressive, perfectly capturing the feeling of a world devastated by nuclear war.
In summary, Fallout 3 is a game with great potential and a captivating story, but its technical execution leaves much to be desired. If you are willing to deal with the technical issues and apply community patches, it can be a rewarding experience.
Runs great (win10) only issue you cannot "upgrade" to the goty version so i suggest buying goty directly (when on sale like now)
Fallout 3 offers an interesting open world with lots of small areas to explore. however thats all Fallout 3 has to offer, with a story not only uninteresting but a drag to go through with characters half baked and terrible game play (the absences of iron sights being a huge example). One thing that the first two fallouts have and what the third one does not... a good story with choices that impacted the world around you. However F3 nerfs this by leaving a karma system that doesnt even change all too much with the impact of the game. The only real resaon i would say F3 is worth buying is due to the huge amount of mods you can use to make the game more intersting and fun but other than that you are not missing all too much with Fallout 3
All these unfixed crash and launch issues almost feel like a remake on the edge of Bethesda's anus
A lot of hard work invested in some mediocre ideas. play new vegas instead, and if you're bored of new vegas, download mods for it

Amazing game, right below Fallout New Vegas from being my favorite.
One hour in, got immediatly hooked. The Fallout serie is just astonishingly gigantic, there is so much going on in it with so many details and polishing of every aspect, it's so engaging by being really deep.
Mediocre childhood game wasnt ever really fun but just nice to play for nostalgia.
Fallout 3 is possibly one the best fallout games in the series in my opinion. I like the overall story line of the game, as well the play mechanics.
Honestly the game is amazing, I just can't seem to get it to launch, I assume something with cloud sync went wrong? but one error says gamebryo error... Idk, I say give it a shot but be wary that it may stop working. I've tried on various linux distros in compatibility mode and windows 11 to no avail. The game tho, one of the best in the series if you ask me lol worth the shot, the first install likely was great but stopped working for no reason I can find; I have tried turning off cloud and back on and reboot, verifying the integrity of the files and turning off my GPU and back on and rebooting.. if anyone has any suggestions lmk!!
This is probably one of the best fallout games in my opinions.. but the centaurs in this game creep me OUT especially when I play this at night.

Extremely good game on the first playthrough, second playthrough is kinda meh. Still absolutely worth it though. Also try getting Fallout 3 Intel Bypass if it just crashes when you open it.
My first fallout experience back when I was 12, this game is definantly the weakest of the bethesda-era fallout titles but the characters and quests still feel super unique even if the main questline leaves a little to be desired.
As an honest reviewer, I would not recommend buying this particular Fallout game on Steam at all. I would first like to say that I absolutely love this game and the whole Fallout franchise Bethesda offers, as I have grown up playing this game and many others in the franchise such as Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 4 on my Xbox 360 and my original Xbox One consoles, (I'm almost 20 now). I spent multiple hours almost everyday playing this game and the others I mentioned above. I love everything about all of these games. I love the gameplay, the nuclear war and post-apocalyptic genre, (I'm a geek for all things Dystopian, Armageddon, zombie apocalypse, nuclear fallout, and apocalypse), I love the interactions, the graphics, (which are super amazing for this time), the amount of guns and supplies you can get, the looting aspect, the exciting exploring and killing aspects of this game, and many other things. All the characters are super loveable as well, even though some you really want to kill. I especially loved Old Lady Palmer and Amata Almodovar in this particular game, and I was really sad and horrified to see Old Lady Palmer's dead body in one of the rooms when I escaped Vault 101 to go after "my father" James. I also absolutely love the soundtrack of these games as well. I still have a lot of songs from that series stuck in my head. I loved listening to Galaxy News Radio, Mojave and New Vegas Radio Station, and Diamond City Radio as I shot the crap out of raiders, mutants, and rampant ghouls, (although I wish I could have shot some of the NPCs such as Butch DeLoria and Colin Moriarty as well). 😂 The soundtrack on this game is apart of my personal music playlist, too. I loved these games so much that I also wanted to install them and buy them on the computer I have, which leads me to why I'm not recommending you get this on your computer. The reason I'm leaving a "not recommended" review even though I love this game is because when I bought it on my PC, as soon as I pressed "play" on the Steam application, the game crashed on me. I have a Windows 11 Intel I9 processor computer with Nvidia graphics cards and Intel graphics cards. We had just bought and special ordered my computer last year, so nothing should have been preventing me from playing this game. I was so excited to continue to play this game and experience the nostalgia, but I was so disappointed and shocked that this happened. I installed this game 2 times. The first time I was able to get past the launch screen and to the menu. Then, it crashed when I pressed "new game". I have done hours of research on how to fix this. I have looked at all the forums. I have watched several videos. I did eventually find a way to fix this, and I was able to play the game, but sometimes, the game would crash when I was doing things like drinking water out of the sink and the toilet to raise my health, (who hasn't done that 😂), or even crouching. It got really annoying. Then, one morning I woke up to find that Steam had uninstalled all my games. I have no clue what happened, and I did nothing to cause this. When I reinstalled it the second time, (which was 2 days ago), the same problem happened again. I couldn't get past "new game". I just looked online again to fix this problem, but this time, it didn't work. I tried all of these methods: deleting the default fallout, falloutprefs, and render documents as described in one video to fix this, I have run both the launcher and the application itself as an administrator, I have run both of these in compatibility mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 3), and tried all different options, I have also tried to change the "Busethread=AI" to "1" and copy and paste this other line of code, which worked before, but this time, it made the problem worse to the point I can't even open the app from Steam. I refuse to download the patch from "Nexus mods" that supposedly fixes this, as that will actually make the issue worse, and it will definitely crash your computer if it tricks the game into thinking your computer is an older model. I also don't think Nexus mods is safe anyways. I've been working with computers all my life, and I'm a game developer myself. I know what I'm talking about. Fallout 3 is just not capable of playing on a PC, (Windows 7 and higher at least). I'm highly disappointed. I thought I would leave a review in case anyone was thinking about buying this amazing game for their PC. Don't waste your money on it. I highly recommend using your money for other games or buying Fallout: New Vegas instead. Sure, it came out 2 years later, but at least that game has no issues running on your computer. Unless you want to crash your computer, get a virus or Trojan horse, and waste your time getting frustrated over this, I highly suggest not wasting your time on playing this particular Fallout on your PC. It's absolutely ridiculous that you have to install garbage from third-party websites and do a bunch of crap with documents and files on your computer just to get it to work! I don't want to have to waste time and worry about it! I would just like to play the game upon installation! Like many others have been saying, they should definitely remaster this game for newer systems! I personally would not like to have to spend $3,000 again to buy a new computer due to it crashing and sending my reliability to 1! In my opinion, the console version is the best, so you're better off just playing it on the console or buying the physical copy of it. Thank God I still have my Xbox 360 and Xbox One with all of the physical copies of all of the games! I just requested a full refund for this game moments ago. Update: I just got an email, and they said that because the purchase exceeded 2 weeks, they won't be refunding me! This is complete BS! What the Hell, Steam! Very good game fun and exiting combat.
I enjoyed it. But in retrospect, it isn't great. After playing New Vegas, I've realized that this game's characters, story, and choice system is all really weak. It's fun to explore, but almost everything to do with storytelling is unfortunately pretty poorly done. There's not many choices when you really look. Everything is either good or bad, no in between. No nuance. Not to mention that it gets kinda boring after a while. Just gets too easy. Could have been a lot better. But as a very late to the game Fallout player, this being my first, I did have fun with it.

Fallout 3 was my introduction to the Fallout universe, and after all these years, it still got me by the balls. The game’s dark, cynical humor and its richly woven apocalyptic alternate history—including Vault-Tec, the vaults, and the myriad factions—are top-notch. The Capital Wasteland is a masterclass in open-world exploration; you never quite know what you'll stumble upon next. The main story is engaging, and the side quests are often memorable, thanks in no small part to the game's well-crafted dialogue.
Despite its age, Fallout 3 has managed to maintain its charm, though it does show its wear. The dated graphics (obviously) and some frustrating bugs, like crashes that remain unfixed, can be a pain in the ass. However, the immersive world and storytelling continue to resonate strongly, making it a landmark title in the series.
Fallout 3 is a very well done game and is a very good entry point into the series. It has an incredible story and makes you feel as if your have acompleshed something great. The combat is a bit chalenging for people new to this shooters such as my self, but vats helps to compensate for that. Probuly will play again. One note, if not using a poc lap top, you have to instal mods to get the game to run

An early 2000's gen z/millennial appreciated post-nuclear atom punk dreary masterpiece, yeah there's some obvious genre and gen notations, but damn this is a close second to FNV. What a vibe and the DLC's are wicked fun as well.
