I love this game so much. I recommand to get the Operation:Anchorage DLC too because gives you the best Power Armor.
The style, atmosphere, mechanics, and story sold me into Fallout 3. I absolutely love how it looks and feels. The fact that "Radio Stations" were introduced to this franchise starting here was a really smart move. Crusing down city ruins, fighting mutated creatures while listening to "Dear Hearts and Gentle People" is really good.
However, the downsides to Fallout 3 are that Fallout 3 hasn't received updates which help smooth the gameplay experience meaning that Fallout 3 will likely run very poorly and often crash. Sometimes the game will either freeze when loading a event or just break when interacting with an NPC. However, these bugs can be fixed with the power of Mods.

First and last Bethesda style game I play. An RPG for people who never played another RPG before.
Difficulty is a joke. Too hard in the beggining and trivial by level 20.
Utterly unfinished game, but they had the nerve to make 5 expansions for it! Finish the main game first, you bums!
At the beggining of the game you are sent by a character to contact their family. You find out a lot about them and even rescue a relative from vampires, and the character who sent you never asks or even comments about it again. Doesn't care. No reaction.
In another part you find a family of cannibals, you kill the parents and rescue their kids. The granpa promises to lie to the children about their parents deaths, but the kids are playing outside over their parents corpses!
You get hunted by criminals sent by some boss, you find the boss living in his own building, murder all of his men, try to talk to him to find out why is he trying to kill you. No reaction, no recognition, nothing. You kill him and that's it. Who was that? Was there a story behind all of what happened? Who knows.
Your first and really only mission after beggining the game is NOT TO FOLLOW a specific person. Since every mission gives enough XP to level up twice or more, you'll be in level 20 wondering how to keep trying not to follow that person even when the game contradicts itself and keeps mentioning even on the radio you're looking for that person. You surrender and go looking for the person you are not supposed to be looking for, you find the person who immediately asks you to follow them! You follow them from one extreme of the map to the other and it becomes ridiculous. A friend told me you're not supposed to follow them then like you are asked to! You are supposed to do the opposite you are asked to do once again and just fast travel to where the person is headed. That's when I stopped playing. This is like an anti-player game. The game follows some kind of agenda and doesn't care about any decisions the player make.
This is crappy RPG design at its most infurating.

Its a pretty good game. Its not as good as fallout 1 or 2, but its still lends an enjoyable experience. Bethesda did a good job making a sequel to fallout 2
Get some bug fixes, and have some fun. Fallout: New Vegas is a much better game (with bug fixes), but this is also good (it also requires bug fixes).
It's a great game, bit outdated in a few ways but it still is fun.

I added like 40-50 mods to make it more alive ,and it semi worked ,Its just too old id focus on newer games with stronger engines and better graphics ,for returning players i guess you can give it an try but i personally wont play old games again

I feel like this installment in the Fallout franchise is pretty hit or miss for most people. This was the first game I played in the series and I love it. I can understand if it’s a bit outdated for some, but once you learn the mechanics, it’s really not a problem. This is a near perfect game 9.5/10
I know this is an older game, but...Most of today's games are to hard for a retired person(like me). I'm either not agile enough, or the plot is to complicated. Fallout 3 has a nice balance.
Worst fallout ever made. Dont waste your money on this dumpster fire of a game. When it does 'just work' its a terrible story, empty af, and still buggy. Awful map design and awful story. Running this on a 9700k/128gb ram/2070gpu laptop and get crashes all the dayum time. But even if I run it on my i9/4090 desktop, it will still crash - which shows its just the game and not the hardware. Sometimes it will even completely lock up the system when it crashes, forcing a hard shut down of the system. Avoid the headache and disappointment and just get something else.
Timeless and shameless. A masterpiece.

best franchise oft and best game in the franchise so 10/10 to good to be true in need my boy john david to play it so he can know what peak is.The only bad part about the game was when it ended
this game is good but the pc port is so f***ing dog sh*t that i recommend just getting it on a xbox 360 emulator
(problems with the pc port listed bellow)
-Random crashes
-The game is stuck in 4:3 even when the resolution is to a 16:9 resolution (makes the mouse sensitivity go haywire)
-Alt+tab (or windows key) has a 90% chance to make the game shit its self
-Poor fps (i have a 1650 more than the recommended specs)
-Saves just randomly breaking cause fuck you i guess

but you know if allat aint a problem for you buy this game on steam and keep letting bethesda know that releasing broken games is ok
Steam time is bugged due to Bethesda never fixing the game launching, i have about 40 hours in the game
One of the greats of first person RPGS, its no fallout new vegas its very fun though

I have played this game several times all the way thru and I have loved it each time. It is very engaging and has moments that make you think your way thri them so you survive.
I really enjoyed Fallout 3! The open world, compelling story, and endless exploration kept me hooked. It’s packed with atmosphere and unique characters that made every moment feel epic. A must-play for any RPG fan!

I do not recommend buying Fallout 3 in its current state. It is an abuse to the consumer that the game is still on sale without being able to run correctly without resorting to solutions entirely created by the community. It is very common to encounter errors when opening it, especially on current devices, which is really a shame because it is a good game.
Fallout 3 offers an interesting story that keeps you hooked for a long time. The narrative immerses you in a post-apocalyptic world with a unique and detailed atmosphere. However, the gameplay, like in many Bethesda games, is deficient in some points. Errors are very common, which can affect the gaming experience.
Despite these problems, Fallout 3 remains enjoyable. Exploring the vast open world and making moral decisions adds depth to the game. The characters you meet are memorable, and the setting is impressive, perfectly capturing the feeling of a world devastated by nuclear war.

Runs great (win10) only issue you cannot "upgrade" to the goty version so i suggest buying goty directly (when on sale like now)
Fallout 3 offers an interesting open world with lots of small areas to explore. however thats all Fallout 3 has to offer, with a story not only uninteresting but a drag to go through with characters half baked and terrible game play (the absences of iron sights being a huge example). One thing that the first two fallouts have and what the third one does not... a good story with choices that impacted the world around you. However F3 nerfs this by leaving a karma system that doesnt even change all too much with the impact of the game. The only real resaon i would say F3 is worth buying is due to the huge amount of mods you can use to make the game more intersting and fun but other than that you are not missing all too much with Fallout 3
All these unfixed crash and launch issues almost feel like a remake on the edge of Bethesda's anus
A lot of hard work invested in some mediocre ideas. play new vegas instead, and if you're bored of new vegas, download mods for it

Amazing game, right below Fallout New Vegas from being my favorite.
One hour in, got immediatly hooked. The Fallout serie is just astonishingly gigantic, there is so much going on in it with so many details and polishing of every aspect, it's so engaging by being really deep.
Mediocre childhood game wasnt ever really fun but just nice to play for nostalgia.
Fallout 3 is possibly one the best fallout games in the series in my opinion. I like the overall story line of the game, as well the play mechanics.
Honestly the game is amazing, I just can't seem to get it to launch, I assume something with cloud sync went wrong? but one error says gamebryo error... Idk, I say give it a shot but be wary that it may stop working. I've tried on various linux distros in compatibility mode and windows 11 to no avail. The game tho, one of the best in the series if you ask me lol worth the shot, the first install likely was great but stopped working for no reason I can find; I have tried turning off cloud and back on and reboot, verifying the integrity of the files and turning off my GPU and back on and rebooting.. if anyone has any suggestions lmk!!
This is probably one of the best fallout games in my opinions.. but the centaurs in this game creep me OUT especially when I play this at night.
