The graphics are really good and the difficulty is not too much.
stop working windows, no solution?
Unplayable
constant stuttering and freezing with no apparent fix
This is a great game. I really miss this party attitude design choice of the menus, Like in DiRT 2, 3, and Showdown. This design choice was absent in DiRT 4, Rally, and Rally 2.0. I might have to brush up on my Gymkhana skills. I even got the Year One Edition so I can enjoy all four DLC careers.
love the grafics
Fun for co-op play. Arcade-y over-the-top physics. Could be tougher, and maybe more choice of cars, but still a fun couch co-op game (yes, couch co-op)
game is so bad
Apart from better graphics which comes with the year of release the game is not even close to DIRT 3 ... sadly they removed most of the fun stuff that I enjoined in this game and made it some kind of Mario kart... Money badly spent on this game.
somebody put car cosmetics on scooters and called it a car game
Well took me a while and a big discount before I bought this because of the reviews.
That being said I don't regret it at all.
It is not a sim title by any means but as a product next to dirt 2.0 or ea wrc I think it is excellent.
Sometimes you just want to have a not too serious romp in the mud and for that it delivers.
Looks good sounds good and has a good sensation of speed.
Don't expect dirt 2.0 and you willhave quite so e fun.
I loved Dirt 2 and 3.
This is also great.
this game IS SO GOOD MAN EA IS COOK WITH THIS GAME
Obviously you won't get anything realistic or that much of a simulation based racer but hey, it's still a good game, whoever loves arcade racers then this is for you. Graphics indeed feel toony and overly colored but overall the game is playable and works very well than most games what are released half-baked nowadays.
As a racing game it is okay. As a Dirt game it sucks. The racing physics just feel different from the other games. The maps are more extreme and not like the other games.
I fell in love with the car destruction physics and this game just does not do it right. If you want some okay racing game then this is fine to buy. While on sale. I got it on 85% off for about $12 AUD and I would not pay any more than that for this game
Unplayable. Poor wheelbase/pedal support; enthusiast level hardware not supported. Can't even setup controls until after completing the tutorial race. Horrible menu layout. This game is a step backwards from dirt rally 2. Waste of money, want refund.
This will be a positive review - you have been warned. I both feel many things and feel nothing while playing Dirt 5. I think that sometimes there's poetry in the mundane and normie/arcade (nonderrogatory) racers like this one, aren't the exception. I came in with the worst of intentions going into this game. I was ready to bash, hate, and criticize, but every time I wanted to be mean, the game managed to soften me up.
I've always had a weak spot for gorgeous aesthetics and Dirt 5 does classify as a highly polished experience imo. The only praise that I manage to find echoing amidst the many negative reviews is that the game looks damn good. That can be a double-edged sword, but when it's paired with a consistent and coherent sense of style, I think it's a single-edged sword that cuts through my apparent negative bias of huge corpo EA games (idk if that makes sense lmao, I just wanted to use that metaphor). What I'm trying to say is that the game looks really good and not only in the graphics fidelity department. The vibe the game exudes is kinda pristine. It is very cheesy and flashy and the music selection is kinda even more cheesy. It's a game that could have been released in the Fifa Street 2 days and could have blended in perfectly. I do, however, say this in the best way possible. It's cheese that is surprisingly digestible.
What really made me enjoy the experience of turning off my Brian and engage with the arcadey racing is the amount of novelty the game gifts you. I was surprised to read that a lot of people found the game quickly boring. I, for one, enjoy greatly the amount of original tracks the game has. It features several locations from around the world. It has a quarry in Italy, a bamboo forest in China, a rocky desert in Morocco, and a bunch more creative locations. The weather in the game is really fun to experience as well. The game tries to be super grimey and dirty and raw and cool-looking, so in most races, there are heavy rains, mud, snow, and changing racing surfaces. Tracks do tend to repeat (although not often enough to get tiring), but the weather does actually have the power to change the gameplay in the track and this is something that I feel lots of racing fans have always wanted from their racing games. Tracks in the snow can get more and more layers of snow as the track progresses making the driving harder and slower. Rain can start in the middle of a race making the handling of corners more sketchy and mud starts to develop which does end up dirtying your car and shows up until the end of the race. It's a very immersive experience.
The handling model was strange to get used to. I felt like all the vehicles were bricks trying to turn in the mud and I was kind of upset at first with it. I wasn't even sure why. After a while with the game though I kind of understood what they were going for and it started to grow on me - especially since there are a lot of cars and trucks to choose from and they all handle differently. The career mode is long and progression feels good to progress through. The game definitely gave me a feel-good vibe that I think I've been missing from games recently. This is an actual game that you can sit down and play to unwind from stuff in your life.
Since the game is unfortunately published by EA, it comes with a lovely bundle of microtransactions built into its design. I will never not see how a "game pass" fits into a single-player game unless it's not a flagrant display of human greed by a huge corpo amalgam. It's always gross and it makes my stomach turn and I think it's trash how we never get the full game unless we shell out a little more money each time. My opinion is nothing new.
I hate how I actually really like this game. I really wish it was made by a small team of indie devs, but I guess that creating tons of original tracks and a weather system does actually take a huge, skilled team to undertake that to fruition and whatever our collective beef is with corporations being nasty I can't argue with a good game.
Dirt 5 is a solid racing game and I love that it exists. It definitely has little OG Dirt DNA in it, but I don't think Dirt has been going for that since like Dirt 2. In any case, I can definitely see myself giving this game 3.5 Colin McRae Rallys out of 5 🚙🚙🚙
This game starts off well enough but it is very repetitive and it gets boring very fast. I was hoping for a DiRT 3 type of experience and it just isn't there. Unless it is deeply discounted save your money.
one of the fun racing game with good visuals.
good game better than cod
good game
Game is so much fun. Colorful and happy, the way an a casual racing game should be. Starts up fast, so it's great to just pick up and play. Also love the way you can customize the weather (rain, snow), the number of other cars you race against, number of laps and time of day for each race. Also you can mix car classes to an extent. Wish a lot of other racing games would let you do that. Sure, it's not Forza Horizon 5 but this is a fun one for sure.
Best racing game ever I recommend it.
This game is really fun the, graphics are really good and overall I just love codemastergames. I think it needs better damage visuals from like DiRT SHOWDOWN. Overall really fun game. :)
fun
1. Fun racing game to play.
2. Good for learn using manual transmission for any racing games
3. The AI quiet challenging even in medium difficulty.
3. The graphic for 1080p resolution PC version is bad. Highly recommended using 1440p render for better graphic
7.8/10
Absolutely brilliant. Reccomend it.
Dirt 3 and 4 were already great experiences. Dirt 5 is now my favorite. You can use as much or as little Traction Control and Anti-lock Braking as you want so a driver of any skill level can enjoy the game. I have never used a controller, but when my wheel and pedals broke I had no choice and I can even enjoy this with an unfamiliar controller. Huge selection of tracks. I think anybody can have fun with this game.
+ Decent visuals in the day races
+ Easy to pickup and play with the arcade style racing
+ No online achievements
+ Good selection of cars
- Need DLCs for most achievements
- Night races can be sooo hard to see! It made me avoid night races
- Whatever difficulty you play, the AI somehow catches up?
The base game feels as though it's incomplete, I'd bought GOTY so had all DLC included, but if I didn't - I'd be wondering where the rest of the game was. Also hate the fact majority of the achievements are for DLC tracks.
There’s not really much I can say about Dirt 5. It’s one of those games that feels like it should be in an arcade, to play for about five minutes, either on your own or with a bunch of friends, for a quick race or two and nothing more.
The tracks are okay, but become repetitive very quickly, so unless you have a really short term memory, the game turns stale in less time than it took me to right this review.
Graphically the game looks nice and the vehicles handle like most games of this type, but the overall presentation is annoying and the banter from two voice overs in career mode I had no time for and just skipped listening to them all together. The game also boasts a licensed soundtrack, but apart from songs by The Amazons, Foals and Royal Blood, nothing else was recognisable to me and it wasn’t long before I muted this part of the audio.
If I’d continued with Dirt 5 I imagine I would have probably burnt my way through it in a relatively short amount of time, but with just over an hour and a half of gameplay, it was enough for me to decide it wasn’t for me and so my search for a new driving game goes on.
The music is good! The colours are great! The graphics are pretty neat and it gets your heart pumping. Very easy to play and a lot of fun.
Personally, I enjoyed the game. I don't mind taking a break from sim racing and playing some arcade racing. Visually impressive and playing it today the game runs very smoothly with 60 fps. I never experienced fps drop or problems with the game. for sure the car handling can behave a little weird when in the air but other than that it's fine. The AI is not the worst I've encountered. The only problem is that they become faster when you are in first place so they can pass you easily which can be frustrating. The music is hit and miss, some songs work while others you wonder what you are listening to. The campaign Is nothing special. Dirt 5 is not a bad game but compared to the older dirt games it's a let down.
bought it on sale, the game is good but after DIRT4, this is a big let down because the physics are very simple for a 60$ game. I recommend buying it only if it is for sale
omg this game blows.
Remains the worst game I've bought on Steam.
Whoever decided that the "user agreement" screen should force users to hold an arrow key to slowly scroll through several pages of legalese after every install should be shot in the dick
If you want a NFS arcade driving style, with no logical physics at all. you'll love this nonsense.
Dirt rally 2.0 > Dirt 5
The podcast thing is annoying. I wish we could've turned it off and played the game itself. Unfortunately, it's an integral part of the narration and progression system and also a tad bit grindy. "Nostalgia is the closest thing to a time machine" Nothing shows to be more hurtfully true than the quality of games these days.
The devs put no effort into the physics of the game.Only the graphics are good.No telemetry and weak force feedback. It's a good game if you only want looks.
crashes on startup
Don`t waste your time with this game. I played 3 races and that was enough to uninstall it. You should look for another racing game.
stinky soulless
The 7 hours I do have were years ago, as of today it crashes constantly, I'm unable to play at all.
