I got Evospace back in 2020, didn't touch it until 2023, and couldn't really get into it then. I got as far as attempting to automate copper ingots if I remember right. I came back to it recently, and have automated copper, steel and aluminum ingots, and am working to automate the plates and parts for cutting down on manual crafting, so I can tear down the starter base and rebuild with better materials. Definitely recommend, an in my opinion, fits the title of 'Factorio but 3D' better than Satisfactory.
Surprising good game that I had no clue existed until I saw a youtuber playing it. Very in-depth supply chain management with tons of parts and minerals. Once you get through the initial hurdle of figuring out what they heck you need to do to get started (watch a few Youtube videos), you will be hooked. I highly recommend playing the experimental version (currently a major overhaul with the .20 version)....it's much better than the vanilla version and looks much better as well. Highly recommend this game if you like the whole supply chain management style of gaming (Satisfactory, Factorio etc)
So what is Evospace? It's kinda like a first person Factorio but more like Satisfactory. But don't let the simple graphics fool you, it's a really deep, very involved game.
You start off building a small factory with stone smelters, then copper, then steel. At first it's the same thing over and over, but very quickly it becomes a management/building game and not so much punch a tree and get a stick.
There is no fighting... at all. No critters to bother you. No chasing food and drink. . It's relaxing. I truly love the play style as I'm not being pulled away to drink or eat every 10 minutes.
At the time of this writing, modding is being added and I'm sure to get involved in that, but the recipes go on forever.
Go watch a YouTube on it, (set the tools to past year) and see for yourself if it's your style.
Still really young but IMO super promising. Kinda reminds me of the early Satisfactory EA builds but the voxel stuff has lots of potential.
I freaking love this game. Such a chill building experience, with a very understandable yet very satisfying level of complexity. If you like factory/automation/building games, this one definitely deserves a look or 3.
I played this game in 2022 for about 210 of my hours and then put it to the side until this week when I decided to get back into it. This truly is an excellent game - really scratches the factory itch. The only thing I would say about it is that it takes a little bit of learning to get started. Even though I had played so many hours before, I briefly suffered from the "blank page" block again and watched a YouTube video to re-familiarize myself. But, once you get started - there is no stopping! If you like factory games, get this game.
Strangely addictive...
Price was good so this was low risk, another entry into the economy/base building/open world niche. Nothing like it out there: very basic. Controls and game play: borderline awkward. But once you get past that, its quite intriguing - and relaxing.
Tip - I found watching a video or two to pick up on some of the awkward controls very helpful and was good to from there.
Enjoy!!
I thought long and hard about whether I should mark this as recommended or not. I believe I can recommend this game but with a few caveats:
- The UI takes a lot of getting used to and even when you are it leaves a lot to be desired. Expect little to none of the quality of life features you might expect in 2025
- The graphics are pretty but the modelling can be a bit primitive. Not bad just a little unrefined.
- The game is very bare-bones. You'd better love building your production lines because that's all you're going to be doing. No enemies, no wildlife, no weather. It's just you and the trees.
- Overall building and especially deconstructing is a lot of manual work. No blueprints, no mass-deconstruct, no drones. If you want to move or reorganize your factory you'll have to take it apart block-by-block. There is a "zoop" function for placing lines or grids of blocks so at least building floor or uniform rows of machines is quick.
That said what I love about the game:
- A long tech tree to explore, from simple copper machines to neutronium with many in between steps
- Every step of metal requires different processing steps. It's not just upgrading your furnace and now you can make steel. Every upgrade has a different production process. Some machines can be made only with certain materials, so it's not all just straight "levelling up"
- What the game does it does well: tons and tons of machines to build and figure out.
- Very little handholding and regularly multiple ways to achieve the same goals. Do you build a biofuel production plant to produce power, run a simple coal plant, or go with solar and batteries, or .. ?
In short if you love figuring out production lines and not much else, this is the game for you. And the price is absolutely right for the amount of content this has.
This game is missing one important thing that really should be in the game as an automation game. A really important part of all games similar and they all have this feature except for Evospace. This feature is commonly known to the general public as Queuing Research. Otherwise it's a good game.
This is one of the best factory game I have had the privilege to play . I play it the way I want and have fun experimenting with different builds.
very fun
Played many games like this.
LUA mod with ease always wins. (much fun)
Change any recipe and even the game alot easy in configs is generous consideration and win.
Any game that runs ultra smooth and fast is always win. This one does.
Allow to start with custom start items in a config is win.
Unique energy and rotation mechanics is a realistic and fun win.
Seeds for endless maps are win.
The textures and lighting, shaders and water effects are win and light on the GPU.
Flat world or bumpy terrain options remind me of minecraft flat world or not. Is cool. Win.
Realistic science mechanics with the materials ores and crafting options are win.
There are other games with conveyor belts, mining machines, smelters, inserters etc.
No hidden trollface, unrealistic challenges, tragedy generators etc. Is nice chill industry game.
This game does not insult the genre it addresses at all.
Appears to be no bugs or performance issues at all. Job well done. Safely enjoy!
Thanks for the decent game. Cheers.
