WE WANNA PLAY YOUR GAME! LET US PLAY YOUR GAME! Just add save mechanic to points and a minimazed mod. we really wanna play it but you are making it wayy wayy harder than it has to be.

I know the point of the game is it being pointless and all that, and adding continuity on points may damage that idea a bit but I really want it to stay in the background while I am coding, it was a great accompany on a game jam and I want it to be continue being that.

This game is the best typing simulator ever! I am currently earning arbitrary points that ultimately mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of life but damn, do they give me dopamine! This is going to be the dumbest review of my life for one of the best games to have ever been created so buckle up, buckaroos. The game is simplicity at its finest. The graphics are *chefs kiss* (especially the clouds and moon but more on that later) and why wouldn't they be? This is the best game ever! I love watching the weird looking man type at his computer all day and night, very relaxing and highly relatable. The more you type (or button smash because you'll probably end up doing that..a lot), the longer he stays awake! If you stop he falls asleep, pretty simple mechanics. Now, the REALLY cool part, the achievements! Similar to the points, the achievements mean absolutely nothing! That being said, the graphics are pretty cool (especially the clouds and the moon). I have never been so excited to achieve Moderate Anxiety and Severe Depression (not even when I achieved them in real life)! Honestly, this game is making me question my sanity as it is currently 4:17 in the morning and I am typing nonsense in order to get the achievements. That being said, the achievement Life Is Pointless is not a fun one. According to another user, it took them 8 days of spamming keys to achieve it (there is no save option in the game, you have to achieve around 35 million points without closing the app). Given my current mental state I highly doubt I will be able (or willing) to unlock this achievement. However, if I were attempting to, I would definitely use the app while working and writing as it does help motivate me to get things done (I sure do love those arbitrary points). But yeah, if you like wasting your time or need motivation to do tasks that involve typing then this game is for you! Or maybe you're just going through a tough time and are slowly losing sanity...no judgement. I think it's time I went to sleep.

Buy the game or don't buy the game, it doesn't matter. All you do is type until you get bored and quit the game. I found more entertainment in the discussions section than in the actual game. Because of the discussion section, I am giving this game a positive review.

Family and friends have always told me to get a life. I looked around at their lives. I saw that, not only did they have a life, they had a life that WAS POINTLESS! How did they achieve this immeasurable feat? How did they achieve this pinnacle of God's work? Seeing how much better they were than me, I began to feel a tinge of jealousy. This quickly turned into full blown envy. Envy turned into seething rage. How could they have a life that was pointless, but I could not?! I then stumbled upon your game. I saw there was still a possibility that, I too, might be able to experience a life that was pointless. I added your game to my wishlist. I pined away for this future freedom as I toiled under the sun to afford my chance at the life that is pointless. Now that time has finally arrived. Time to fulfill my lifelong dreams. Time to finally reach complete knowledge, complete understanding, complete bliss. Time to transcend to the highest peaks. I know I will not be disapPOINTed!

This game is very moving in the sense that when you sit there and realize what it is you are doing, sitting at your computer and just smashing your keyboard to get points in a video game that absolutely doesn't matter and is completely pointless, you have achieved the state of mind that the developer wanted you to be in. Your life has no point at this moment other than to just press the keys on your keyboard for the soul purpose of what? Achievements that have absolutely no meaning to anything other than yourself, but even its meaning loses value when you think about its value. You have entered a state of mind that you can begin to get a glimpse of what it is like to live with a mental illness that sucks the life out of anything.

This whole thing was a 'joke' based off the developer's own dealings with depression, but I believe that this joke was actually a well thought out message on what it feels like to wrestle with your own demons from the color, the expansive sound design, and gameplay.

bought game to have some display achievements for my profile and ran a VM to get the million point achievement. I was swindled by the developer who I originally thought to be cool for making this but have ultimately disappointed by the lack of profile visibility for achievements, I cannot display my ability to overcome severe depression and now feel like life is meaningless again.

Gameless shovelware masquerading as meta commentary on clicker games. I enjoy a lot of simple games, a lot of incremental games, and a lot of anti-games, and this is not one of them.

I originally left the review at that, but after seeing the dev's sarcastic comments on every bit of criticism in his review section, I'll break down exactly why you shouldn't buy this product.

It's lazy.

It's a lazy attempt at stealing money from people with a fake incremental and nothing more. It tries to lean on the simplicity as if that's what the dev was going for, but it comes off much more like the dev doesn't care about the product they're making. They try to tout the boringness of the "game" as if it were a feature and not a lack of features. They put no effort into this "game", and I use that word very loosely, because there is no gameplay to speak of.

To make an incremental interesting, it needs progression, even if it's simple. There needs to be a destination to make it worth it. You can have a game where you literally click a button over and over and it can be fun, as long as you see new things unlock along the way and have something interesting to look forward to.

This has none of that. You have seen the entire game in this trailer, and that is not even an exaggeration. There's nothing here. There's quite literally no game in this product. You mash your keyboard blindly and the "game" goes nowhere with it. The game does nothing with your keystrokes or your score, with the exception of achievements, and the dev even managed to screw that part up.

The small challenges the dev sets out for you to complete via achievements are quite literally impossible to complete without cheating. He somehow managed to make a boring game that was so bad that you can't even realistically do what it wants you to do, if for some reason you force yourself to suffer through it.

He set the bar for some of the achievements at A MILLION INDIVIDUAL KEYSTROKES. That's an inhuman number. Can you see yourself pressing the space bar one million times just so you can get 100% in one of Steam's worst games? I sure hope not, and if you think you can, I invite you to buy this game and spent a few hours getting to 10,000 points and tell me you want to do that 100 more times. Don't forget to refund it before the two hours is over, because even whatever fraction of that dollar is left going to a dev like this should be a crime.

Oh, but I hear you say, " That's fine if the goal is far away! I'll just work away a little at a time and eventually get there! I like a good grind! "

I feel you on that on a deep level, I enjoy a pointless challenge for the sake of a challenge sometimes. I enjoy a time sink to prove you can grind your way through something, sometimes for nothing other than to do it. But when it comes to this game, no you won't grind your way through it, because this god-awful dev couldn't even put in a save function to his dumb anti-game about mashing your keyboard a million times. Oh yeah, if you're going to require your players to hit a million buttons that's too easy, better make the entire thing reset every time it crashes or you need to restart your computer or you want to do anything else with your life.

I own hundreds of games, many of which are cheap and arguably bad games that I've bought for 50 cent, and this is one of two I've ever felt the need to refund. If you're going to make a bad game purposefully, that's one thing, but if you make it impossible to beat without cheating solely because you're too lazy to figure out how Unity's save game functions work, then you're not putting in any effort at all. Watch a YouTube tutorial for fifteen minutes before uploading your game onto Steam and maybe you'll manage a product worth interacting with.

There is no legitimate way to beat this game that no person in their right mind would want to beat in the first place, and that's why I consider it one of the worst two "games" I've ever played on Steam, and the other one was way better than this.

If you want a game like this that's actually fun, may I suggest some real incrementals that people put effort into and that reward your time spent on them, and the best part is they're all free. There's too many to count, but here's a list off the top of my head:

- Realm Grinder
- Idling To Rule The Gods
- Clicker Heroes
- Adventure Capitalist
- Adventure Communist
- Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms
- Soda Dungeon
- Supply Chain Idle

Any one of these games will respect your time 100x more than this garbage will, and will respect your opinion 100x more than this garbage dev will.

The main reason I got this game is to get the achievement "Life is Pointless" for my (pointless) home page. Now I am thinking whether it is easier to get it here, or to make my own pointless game with a similar achievement and publish it on Steam.
Of course, both these solutions are equally pointless. As this game is. As everything is.

Probably not worth the money, but money is pointless anyways. You will be exchanging pointless money for pointless points - basically like any other game.

I see no point to recommend this game. But what's the point to not recommend it?

Technically, "Life is Pointless" is not a game. It's a counter that counts how many times you pressed the buttons on your keyboard, and it's completely useless, just like "Lovely Weather We're Having" or "Hiking Simulator 2017". At the same time, it's a funny comment on video games in general that is absolutely not necessary to buy unless you're collecting strange Steam "not-a-games". Even for $0.90 (or $0.49 on a sale) - there is not enough of content in this program to buy it at any price. Trailer shows it all: our hero sits in front of the computer all day long, gains points every time you press the buttons, sleeps when you not, and... nothing else happens. After every launch all your score returns to zero. You can try to collect the achievements, but last two of them are almost unbeatable without tampering with the game's code (warning: if you're really up to get 1.000.000 points achievement, please, go see the doctor as fast as you can).

All in all, LiP is a nice postmodern joke - completely useless program that adds random "points" to your score for clicking buttons (the fact that this thing costs real money in 2019 is also part of the joke), but I think that high art like this should be free for everyone. While LiP costs money, it's much more enjoyable to look at this Steam exhibit without touching.

This game is exactly what the trailer shows. You press keys and you get points. It also allows you to leave it run in the background and gain points from all the key presses you do in your day, although it seems to be a little too intensive on the GPU. It's essentialy an idle game without all of the mind manipulation and effort required of you. It's kinda funny, but there are definitaly many people don't like paying money for this kinda of stuff. Unless you don't mind paying 99 cents for a chuckle or want to make your google searches feel meaningful I wouldn't recommend this.

Very good game I really enjoy the level of satisfaction of gaining points with every keystroke I make. Personally I find the story of the game to be quite lacking, however this is easily fixed by playing another game. The objective for anyone who thinks about acquiring this game, should be to acquire the achievement "depression". I wish more content could be added to really fill the void and bring a higher level of immersion to the player, such as the character possibly crying or banging their head against the desk after a certain period of time in game. All in all this is a very good game and I would recommend it to anyone with 99 cents burning a hole in their pocket.

Finally a game that 100% delivers on its promise. You don't even need to browse any reviews to find out what's in store for you, just read the description. If you buy this and want a refund, you only have yourself to blame.

5/7 would spend my next Valentine's Day with this game again.

Life Is Pointless explains everything there is to know about it in its title, and I am struck repeatedly as I go about my day with how poignantly I feel about it. It is a simple premise: Leave the game running and it will assign points to every key press you make on your keyboard. The points don't do anything, there is no progression. But somehow, I care about it. It is a beautiful and cyclical irony that keeps me from closing the program, and a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The game is a brilliant thesis of a desk job. It is both true in its discussion of the modern employee as a machine, and so patently false about what that means that I can't help but think about it. A lot. Yes, it's true that many people sit and type and sit and type and miss days and weeks and years of their lives. Yes, that person might be me. But what does that mean? This game is forcing me to ask myself what value my job has for me. Its name presses against me as I sit and type and sit and type. Life Is Pointless. This job is pointless. I should leave. Enrich myself. Will Demanbey is telling me that this is the case, and there is a part of me that believes him. But I like my job. I like what I do. It doesn't feel pointless. Until it does. At any moment in my day I can look to the little grayscale window running in the background of my computer and feel validated by its assertion that the way I feel is correct, or empowered to challenge it by inserting meaning into my day. In both cases, it moves me forward. It is so much more than it knows and its creator knows. It is its own antithesis.

I simply recommend this game because of publishers sense of dark humour. Just read the steam page and the gameplay of this game. If you like steam achievements then get this game too. But overall i would not buy this game for a dollar.
