Epic Adventures: La Jangada is a thrilling game with a captivating storyline and stunning visuals. The gameplay is immersive and keeps you engaged throughout. The characters are well-developed and the music adds to the overall experience. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun and exciting adventure.
A fairly high-quality adventure game based on Jules Verne’s novel “Eight Hundred Leagues in the Amazon.” The game has a well-developed style, you will have to look for things carefully, but you can always use a hint.
This HOG sux! Hints take forever to reload. It's one HOG after another. Requires specific items; earrings, bracelet, umbrella ... and there was dozens of those items in the scene. Uninstalled.
I gotta say this: IF the game doesn't look like you will have fun with it, well... you are in for a surprise! The game offers a variety on Hidden Object levels. "How?" Well, how about a few levels where you have to mix and match things for a dress of a specific color? (It is shown above, so I am not spoiling). That one took me some time... Also, there are puzzles and puzzles with documents... so you aren't only looking for items all the time!
Is there a story line? OF COURSE! It is a murder mystery... which you "help" solve. You get to go on an adventure with characters and visit the Amazon jungle! Oh and yes, at some points the character models look a bit... strange, but when you play the game, they tend to look different. (This isn't a complaint, just pointing out to those who notice).
The ONLY problem (yes... only) I had was with the boxes and keys puzzle, as the keys refused to go in, unless you are in incredibly specific spot! Imagine failing 20+ times, to only realize that you had the right idea the entire time? That and some items are so well hidden, that if you miss just a tiny bit... you don't get the item. Well... there is no penalty for failing... except your mouse pretends to be an airplane for a few seconds when you click incorrectly too much.
Oh and the story works out. I didn't try to guess what they are ever going to do... because that's the fun of it.
Have fun, if you like these type of games! Just don't get mad at the "berry/mushroom" level... they are so tiny XD... Thank you for an enjoyable game, that did an interesting "questions" game at the end! :D :> :)
Did not finish it. It's one of the worst I've ever played, and I've played a LOT of HOG's. The HOG's themselves (what I played of them) weren't bad, but the main female character has crossed eyes. I couldn't stop staring at that, despite everyone obviously thinking she was gong to be "gorgeous" in that hideous green outfit you pick out for her. One of the potential villains has a chinstrap beard and no hair,.looking more hilarious than intimidating. Plus, the translations are just painful. I couldn't sit through the rest of the game because I couldn't stand the bad English. "My heart almost lost its strike.." is just one example. The entire game is full of this type of messy English.
I've played better. If you play HOG's as a regular thing, you've played better, too. Don't waste your money on this. If it hadn't been part of a bundle, I would've demanded a refund.
Yuck.
fun
It's a bad game. It would be ok, but i'ts very old and the HO puzzles make my eyes bleed.
The dialogue is written for those who prefer to turn off the volume and narrated by a woman whose voice was not irritating to me. I turned off the music though left the sounds on low - some of them made me take off my headphones to check if it was going on at home :D
There are lots of objects to find and make no mistake, some of them are so well hidden that I had to use hints here and there. Selecting objects could be very touchy and I would like to see a fix for that. The mini games are definitely varied and for the most part enjoyable. There were 2 that I skipped because I was too impatient. I finished the game and will probably play it again down the road just to see if I can finish without hints. Achievements being added would improve the experience (Hint to the devs) The graphics aren't as polished as some, but I was okay with that.
I found it worth buying (on sale cuz we all like to save $)
This game is, to put it bluntly, infuriating. It's a story broken up by hidden object scenes and some mini-games. There is no adventure (point and click) game aspect, but that's not a problem. What IS a problem is that the objects you need to find are almost always incredibly tiny. Some items, in addition to being tiny, are almost entirely covered by other objects, making it so you cannot identify them as items you need to find. I play games on my 55" TV, and for this game, I have to have my head less than three feet away from the screen in order to find the items, and even then, I cannot find several items and have to use the hint button frequently. I never use the hint button in other games, but I've had to use it in almost all of the hidden object scenes in this game.
In addition to the tiny size of the items, this game requires pixel-perfect accuracy. Like other hidden object games, there is no indicator to alert you when the cursor is over an item you need to find, so you frequently click an item and it doesn't register, so you think that's not the item you need to find, even though it is. Hollow-center items (such as a circle or a square symbol) are even worse because you need to click the outline of the item (even though it doesn't tell you that); if you click the hollow center, then it doesn't register as a hit. The same is true for the mini-games. One such game is the common "rotate several stacked discs to reveal a pattern" game, in which the pattern is snakes. You need to align the discs with pixel-perfect accuracy. If any of the discs is off by even one pixel, then the game doesn't consider it to be solved.
Lastly, this game uses a 4:3 aspect ratio, with black bars on the sides. For the life of me, I cannot understand why we keep seeing hidden object games popping up on Steam now, in 2019, using a 4:3 aspect ratio. 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio has been the standard for 10 or 15 years, so 4:3 doesn't make sense even if this is an older game just now making it's way onto Steam. Having a 4:3 aspect ratio doesn't make the game bad, but the low resolution, combined with tiny items, does make the game very frustrating.
In short, if you like hidden object puzzles and enjoy the challenge of finding tiny objects and having to click with pixel-perfect precision, then you might like this game. If you don't like any of those things, then you probably won't like this game. My advice is to skip this game, even if it's on sale.
It's hard to turn down 5 hours of entertainment (longer if you never hit the hint button) for $2. The story takes place in 19th century Peru / Brazil so I'm not sure why the heroine (who is the only voice actor as well) speaks with a posh British accent. Was that true to the time since they were a rich family? Not sure. The long diatribes where she has to read every written item to you are a little annoying. So mark the game even longer if you're not constantly hitting the Skip button like I did.
Weird discrepancies like that aside, this is pretty fun, if short, HO game that actually does delivery a lot of hidden object games! They even toss in a few other puzzles such as piecing images together, dragging and dropping words into documents and even one where you spot the differences. My only complaint here was that the resolution on this game is rather low especially if you play on a larger monitor and there are no graphics options to toggle within the UI so if you have trouble spotting tiny ass stuff in the puzzles, you might get a little frustrated. Or you hit the hint button a lot. There aren't any achievements for this game so you're not getting dinged for doing so!
