Yahooooooooo! This game makes me the FASTEST HOG PLAYER! Not really... It's just THAT SHORT.
Heads up: if you are sick, especially running a fever... Don't play this game. It will make it worse. Not the fever... Just your state of being.
That saiddddddddddd... The game isn't that really overly hard. All items are laying on the floor... Easy for anyone to grab/see... I think the evil guy in here is related to the summoned one in Lara Croft (co-op series)... Since all they do is close doors or make obstacles... Which could be dealt with pretty easily/fast.
Every PUZZLE and HOG scene could be skipped. There is no penalty on HOG scenes.
The game is clearly older and ehh... No map function... Which is why you use the HINT system! It will TELEPORT you to the right area! Hah! Got you!
Story uh... Well characters are pretty well drawn... But um... It's really easy to figure out the twist and the game... IT JUST ENDS. No really, you do the thing and... "THE END"... I'm like... Wah? I wanted to stick the thingies in the thing!!!
Oh and I guess some things don't really make sense... Like what would you use a steel rod for? I thought for like a puzzle or something... You know... Like a lever or hell, even making a tool of sorts? But no... You gotta break the lock with it. It kinda confused me...? Maybe I was seeing things...? No, no...! I am pretty certain it happened!
Anyway, I don't know. The game isn't that bad, but I can't come up a really darn good reason for you to play it... Unless you want to play ALL HOGs in existence! There. Yeah. Okay.
When in doubt... Stay neutral.
game play is pretty basic, not much different than a whole host of other games in the genre..
the conversational scenes were pretty boring - same image of the character speaking used thru-out the game, regardless of what is happening. the game itself was quite short - only 90 minutes and the ending was rather abrupt. I do not consider myself a pro at these, but 90 minutes is really short for most games of the genre.. 3 hrs would be an average for me.
its ok, but definitely not worth a full price.. on sale, yeah, ok.
A casual game in the genre of "hidden objects". Save the city from the evil necromancer and return the stolen runestone. I liked this game.
The runestone of life has disappeared from the magical tower, and with the runestone missing there is nothing to protect the people of Neverville from the evil northern fog! The story develops nicely. Despite the fact that the story is nothing really new, it is a fun little hidden object adventure with a good level of challenge. The graphics are sharp and well defined with art that is quite lovely to look at. The voice acting was well done. None of the mini games are too hard, in fact most are puzzles that can be done quickly – I only had to skip one. There is a hint that is a real hint and if it can even teleport you. This replaces the totally absent journal and map. There are 3 levels of difficulty: normal, hard and detective. The gameplay is a bit short… I needed 3.5 hours, which is still Ok for q standard edition. So for the low price and an afternoon of fun, I can recommend the game for all ho fans.
After reading good things about this game I decided to try it. The game has average to good graphics, sounds & vo (the voices are all good…. well acted, if a little drawn out occasionally). The storyline is interesting but I would have appreciated some new Ideas. You play as Valerie, daughter of Cygnus Rastlin, protector and guardian of the town Neverville, currently disappeared like also the magical rune stone of light. Your job is to rescue your father and get the rune stone back. The game is mostly an adventure game with a lot of mini games and puzzles. There is a good amount of hidden object scenes, the scenes are well lit and the objects are easily identifiable. I enjoyed this game and would give it 8 out of 10 stars.
Spoiler alert...This game had a funny ending - it felt that there was unfinished play, because I ended up with 2 items which were not used. The game was short and the hint re-charge VERY slow. Despite this I would recommend it if the cost is reasonable.
It's a game, I guess. An improvement in comparison to "Outlaws: Corwin's Treasure" but still a very short game. Get it on a bundle with a discount so you won't feel cheated.
Positive:
-Decent storyline
-Challenging Hidden Object sections
-Good voice acting and art
Negative:
-Some puzzles were too long for the time given
-Game is very short
-Use of certain items made little sense
I did enjoyed this game! The game has good story and really nice graphics. You play as Valerie, daughter of Cygnus Rastlin (archmage) and have to save the town Neverville and your father by recovering the magical rune stones to protect the village. There are a lot of mini games and puzzles – the difficulty starts low and increases with playing (there was a time or two I used the hint, but not often). The HOs are all straight forward seek and find – some of the objects are a bit small – but if you really don´t find one – there is a good hint option. There are three game modes (difficulty) … Normal/Hard/Detective. Unfortunately they can't be changed during playing so make up your mind in the first 15 minutes to not waste too much time. I needed an afternoon to play the game, what is Ok for a standard edition (it´s not a CE – but there is none I think). The only thing that got me was the abrupt ending. But I will recommend the game because it was really fun and I am not sad about buying it.
I actually liked the game but it was too short and easy. I finished the entire game in 2 hrs. After other games that I've invested weeks playing, this was a let down.
Cheap production quality and absurdly hard puzzles squeezed between mediocre hidden object scenes. There are a ton of HO games out there worth your time and money; this isn't one of them.
I loved the art! It was a pretty short storyline, but I think it was totally worth the price. Some of the clues were pretty vague, but the hints were always helpful. As a lover of these types of games and art, I would recommend it.
Cannot recommend.
Pros
.Straightforward, coherent story
.Lightly eerie atmosphere
,Lovely, clean, clear artwork/graphics/scenes
.Excellent music/sounds/voice acting
.Three difficulty modes (no custom)
,Intricate adventure play
.Great hint system (only fast travel available)
Cons
.No mini-map
.Unlockable toolbar
.No indication when object in place for possible use
.Only fourteen adventure play scenes
.Carnival scene did not fit thematically so broke immersion
.Instances of logic issues in adventure play (ie can't cut rope with dagger but can with scissors)
.Repeat hidden object scenes
.Poor scale in hidden object scenes
.Instances of object misnaming in hidden object scenes (ie eye patch for eye)
.Easy mini-puzzles
.No collectables
.Ridiculously short
Final verdict (3/10):
Started off great. Really liked the protagonist, story and artwork. But then the cons noted above started piling up, the story became rushed and there was a lot of collect X number of items which stalled the adventure play constantly (And I was really bummed that the graveyard was not a separate scene from the gateway.. And then the end was cut off. As in, I had the final items (the three parts of the runestone ) in my inventory but the screen went to 'The End' without letting me place them. I got the game on sale and still feel like I was cheated. So no, I don't recommend this game.
Good game of hidden objects, one of the most hardest one I've played so far, most of all very challenging to find the object since it is very dark even with some candlelight glowing in the picture, I had hard time seeing them. I do recommend this game.
It's fine.
Bare bones HO game but enjoyable if you need a quick HO fix to kill some time. If not, wait for a sale because this should be a 2.99 game.
