About the Game
Banner of the Maid is a mix of turn-based strategy and JRPG, set in an alternate French Revolution (late 18th to early 19th century) with fantasy elements and a unique anime art style. A bestseller in China and acclaimed by thousands of fans for its strong gameplay and deep narrative, the game come to the Western markets fully localized to English.
It’s the 1790s, and the Revolution is tearing France apart. The House of Bourbon is on the verge of collapse, and many different factions conspire against each other in the salons of Paris – the Royalists, the Club des Feuillants, the Jacobins and the Malmaisons are all trying to get advantage of the turmoil. The young officer Pauline Bonaparte (sister of the rising star general Napoleon) will have to lead her troops to victory, but also to tread carefully in these complicated political waters to establish connections and win their support. Hidden gem
Very lucky to stumble upon this game by accident.
Really enjoyed the campaign. If you like old school GBA Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem this game is for you. Bonus points for Napoleonic Era and liked the soundtrack.
For $4 on sale this was well worth the coin. If you're unsure with the non-English voice acting just mute it, no different than older games at that point!
Se o tempo de jogo estiver 100h+, é mentira. É bug com Steam Deck.
No começo eu pensei em largar o jogo por decepção de as histórias serem contadas somente com textos e uma imagem estatica do personagem falando. E no inicio fiquei meio bolado também que esperava que na batalha as unidades dos batalhões fossem sumindo à medida que morriam.
Mas insisti mais um pouco e entendi melhor o sistema de batalha, e a história foi ficando interessante.
Da pra se divertir.
It's better than I expected, it has good gameplay and story. Recommended if you like history and anime.
It's okay as a Fire Emblem clone.

Good but General mode is a bit frustrating in 1h+ fights
Sat through hours of pointless boring story to die in the second battle and be hit with the "GAME OVER" screen... SRPG expert who has played all the greats, I understand losing, but losing on the second battle? Obnoxious GAME OVER screens? I'm already skipping all the poorly translated dialogue...?! WTF is this trash...?!
No... just no... I was hoping for a Warsong meets Jeanne D'arc but what I got was a Xenosaga meets Dark Souls
Fun little turn based strategy game. The story line is ok, nothing amazing about full story but good enough to keep you engaged during the play thru. The art work is great, especially if you like the JRPG style anime girls.
The only bad thing I can say about it is the game play can be a little repetitive the longer you play. After first few levels it doesn't really introduce many new concepts as the game goes along. At about half way thru the story you may be bored and only continuing to play just to get the complete.
Not a difficult game to master, i played thru the full game twice, first time in most difficult mode and 2nd play thru in newgame+ in easy mode to pick up 2 achievements that I missed. Honestly you could probably complete the full game in about 30 hours if you turn off the battle animations and don't strive for perfection on the hardest setting. Beyond that there is no re play-ability in the game, and i don't see myself ever coming back to it but it was fun to run thru it once

Great game. FF Tactics vibes.
Painful story delivery. Generic Fire Emblem clone. The game is set during the French Revolution but the sound effects are from cheap anime cartoons. Do no recommend enough.
So let me get this straight about this game:
1. French references, with Napoleon and all.
2. With an Anime style/themed.
3. But with a Chinese voice actor.
4. The characters are, I mean the story have BIG plot twist.
Its ridiculous yet it works as a game, so why not.
How will this affect Napoleon's legacy?

几天前刚刚玩了火焰纹章1，2，3，4，5，6，7，8. 可是这个游戏我20分钟都坚持不下来。废话太多了。对话互动也莫名其妙，界面动画夸张到吓人，作为PC游戏该悬停显示提示信息时却没有。还不如我用手柄玩个火焰纹章流畅。新手关卡纯粹浪费时间。拜托看看人家火焰纹章是怎么做战斗内外的切换的，是怎么做第一关的。我感觉自己在玩visual novel而不是一个战旗。
An alternative history of the French Revolution sounded like fertile ground for a great narrative. Plus with the edition of cool anime characters and battles, with big brain strategy elements, while learning a bit about history and love and war, it felt like an idea with a lot of potential.
However the execution is quite poor. The story/dialogue feels uninspired, possibly due to a low quality translation. The characters feel like you're interacting with sentences copy-pasted from wikipedia.
The tactical/battle part also felt very shallow. The player isn't given interesting decisions and the outcome of a battle can be understood at a glance. The gameplay feels haphazardly stapled on to what is otherwise an unremarkable visual novel. The UI and controls feel quite cheap and clunky, like some default Unity asset pack or a rushed mobile port which is unfortunate.
Otherwise the art was superb, both the character portraits and the pixel art are of high quality. So ultimately the whole experience feels like a missed opportunity, it could have been greatly improved with a few gameplay tweaks and some refinements to the narrative and dialogue.

If you like tactical rpgs, this one is not bad.
Playing as Napoleon's sister is pretty fun. I love how the in-game sprites animate the kind of battles you'd see in the era of musket firearm warfare.
I like the story and I got hook at the game, because First the combat is very great as it have an element which the unit is weak against a infantry and each unit have a unique ability and talents that can change the outcome of the game, and the another thing that I love about this game is the environment, characters, artwork, and design in this game moreover I did like the story I wish it does have a english dub.
