it very good
its bad.. but.. it was cheap.. i guess
This is one of those games you buy in a bundle or on sale. Then you ask yourself why. It's obvious it's a port from the way your told to start the game, and it goes downhill from there. Elevator muzak that will have you muting it to search for a podcast. "Cute" elements like spiders that drop in only to slow your progress clearing the board.
And that's this game's entire schtick, when it isn't interrupting a match with an annoying pop up to remind you of a tool or match or whatnot. It's wall to wall adorableness that would make a baby cry. There are better elements. Like when the game just let's you play a match 3 game without interrupting or suggesting a match by spinning two random tiles to swap that either don't match or would be a bad one.
It's the kind of game you play when you don't feel like playing anything else, but can't bring yourself to read a book, or clean your home. Put on a podcast, mute the music, and you might get past the cute factor that just goes over the top.
The standard Match 3 casual game, but with a few of annoying trends that make me not recommend it as a game.
I'll start with the positives- It's family friendly and there's some satisfaction over seeing your sticker book become prettier after meeting the goals for each upgrade. That part of it is enjoyable!
The reasons I wouldn't recommend this to others, among all the other Match 3 games out there, are:
- Spiders. Occasionally, random spiders will appear on the board and walk around, and you have to make a match that slides the block they're standing on to collect them, otherwise they put a web on a tile and run away.
The issue here is that the spiders often appear where no matches can be made, so you're punished for something that you have no control over. Not only do you get the tile webbed, but you also need to collect a certain amount of spiders to unlock progression in the game.
- Ropes. These are the standard tiles in Match 3 games that you have to 'unlock' before you're allowed to move them, by making matches with them. In this game, they're often placed in level layouts that are entirely frustrating to make any matches with.
- Reliance on powerups. After making a lot of matches, you get to use a powerup, either a pickaxe (destroy 1 tile), bomb (destroy 4 tiles), or magic thing (destroys all of one icon). That sounds fine until I reached a level saying something akin to "Hey you have to use powerups to beat this level!" because half the tiles needed to uncover were in positions that you couldn't break, so you're forced to use powerups to 'fix' the game, not as a bonus.
At this point I'm mostly playing it to see it through to the end, but it's worth knowing that the game design hasn't really been considered well, and the developers left most of the gameplay down to perseverance and luck, rather than enjoyable design.
6 hours of torture! No, I did not like this match 3 game and had to force myself to finish it.]
1. First off the graphics look weird, especially the girl, Amanda, her face looks freaky. The icons were so detailed they were actually hard to match because I couldn't tell the difference between the Ice Cream Cone and the Ring. And I don't even know what some of them were. What's that horizontal blue and white striped thing? And that bunch of bubbles, what is it supposed to be?
2. Secondly the music is horrible. It's like bad elevator music or the stuff they play when you are on hold on the phone because your call is very important to them.
3. The Gameplay. Nothing really bad there except there's not much variation. There are some icons hidden behind ropes and you have to match it in order to break the ropes. Later there will be double ropes! It would have been nice to see wooden boxes that are cleared by matching next to them, or iced over icons to match, but no, all we get are ropes, ropes, ropes! It's especially difficult to make a match to a roped icon when it is near the top of the field. It's basically just make matches until you get lucky.
4. Special Items. They give you 3 items to help you once the meter is filled up: a Hammer that will clear one square, a Bomb that clears 4 squares, and something that looks like a medallion that takes away all of a selected icon off the board. I'm not sure if the meter fills just as you make matches or only when you match 4, 5, or 6.
5. Good luck trying to get 3 stars on every level! And Thank God there are no Steam achievements for that. I play a lot of match 3 games so I consider myself pretty fast but in this game I got mostly 2 stars.
6. Boss Fight! Now this was fun. At the end of each room there is a boss that goes back and forth across the bottom of the screen. The matching board is above it and when a match is made above the boss the items fall on it and it loses HP. There are also spiders trying to web up some of the icons but they can get removed by making a match under them.
7. The Sticker Book. It makes me want to puke. That's not my idea of a sticker book but I guess I'm too old and this is how they do things nowadays. It's a scene in a park with flowers, people just standing about randomly, more flowers, a gazebo, even more flowers and even the Eiffel Tower! It's just so girly. Too much for me.
8,Final Thoughts. Price: I got my key through a bundle so I can't comment on the store price. I'm giving this game a negative rating because it was not fun to play. I forced myself to finish so I could make this review in the hopes of sparing people the pain and agony I went through.
terribly good!
It's a simple connect-3 game. There is no real depth to the actual "sticker book" it's mostly a linear progression. Wish there was a menu button while at the sticker book itself, you have to start a match to exit the game which seems like an oversight. It appears e-FunSoft Games have a few connect-3 games and they're pretty much re-skins of each other, but good at what they are.
