adorable gator game. great art, great music, goofy and yet compelling. not groundbreaking gameplay-wise but still fun and satisfying to play.

Later Alligator is a cute, pun-filled game that is half-walking simulator, half-minigames. You play as the unnamed protagonist, who has been called up to meet with Pat the Alligator on his birthday. This comically nervous alligator is convinced that his family – which he implies to be THE Family – are going to rub him out at “the event” on his birthday, and has hired you to find out what is going on.
And so, you go on an adventure to meet all 33 members of his extended family to try and find out what “the event” is and rescue Pat from his terrible, terrible fate. On his birthday. The event that they’re trying to keep secret from him.
I wonder what it could be!
It’s a very cute game, and it is absolutely chock full of puns, references, and silly little jokes and twists of dialogue. The characters in it are all charming in their own special little way, and the game is quite cute on the whole.
The drawback is that the game is full of minigames and, while these minigames are often cute and help to establish the character of the characters, some of them are a bit tedious and take quite a while to do, and don’t really end up being all that fun. Some are reasonable enough, and others are cutesy and amusing, but some take quite a while and end up just feeling tedious.
All that bein said, it is a funny game, and it has a bunch of funny things going on in it. I liked interacting with the characters, and all the funny little touches it had.
That being said, the minigames made the game last longer than it should have, and some of them (especially playing Old Maid multiple times with different people in a running gag) was not all that much fun, and the slide puzzle and the spot the difference minigames ended up taking longer than they should have.
On the whole, though, I did enjoy it, even if it did end up dragging a bit in places. I did end up guessing the “twists” in the story, and it was fun where it ended up, and the music in the game was nice – it had a number of fun little numbers in its soundtrack, including original lyrical music, which far more games should have.
Short, but cute, and full of jokes that made me laugh. If you think you'll vibe with it from the preview, you probably will.
Absolutely adore this game. It has so much life in its gator world. Please play it.
Story, animations, art style, characters and the plot twist at the end were all very cute. The achievements were doable and is one of the few games I wanted to go out of my way to see and get most of them (there weren't too many of them anyways). The baby monitor minigame was my worst performing one and the ghost in the cell minigame was my favorite. Highly recommended to anyone who loves puns and a short game.

A wholesome & joyously animated experience
Alex and Lindsay, the developers behind SmallBü, are exceptional when it comes to their participation in webseries and voice acting parts in projects like BigTop Burger. Later Alligator feels like it represents a lot of those hilarious and wacky antics they get up to in there while preserving a wholesome and silly tone.
There are numerous references to various video game characters, content creators, comedians, and everything just has so much animation behind it, and you can really sense the effort that went into making each and every character unique in their stylization of an all mafia family. If someone is bashful, they will express it. If they are interested, they express it, and if they are overjoyed, they wiggle and kick their little feetsies about cheerfully. If you enjoy cute, wholesome, and casual point & click adventures times and fun, you will absolutely love this game. Even if you don't tend to like those games, seriously give it a chance because it's a hidden gem that needs to shine.
Very very charming game that kept a smile on my face! Some of the UX design can be a big clearer but I definitely think its worth checking out!
Honestly a very cute, quick game that's a lot of fun. Placing aside my roiling hatred for slide puzzles, this game is very good. Not very long, but the mini-games are largely fun, the characters cute and memorable, with plenty of replayability! At least 2-3 times! The jokes do not grow old. Definitely worth the price, and your time.

Wow! Amazing animation and I love all the characters, it's a really sweet game and the minigames and story are cute, silly and simple enough to be just relaxing. It is a short game, but was a fun day of playing it and at the price I got it on sale, very worth it! I'm very endeared.
Hilarious! Incredible animation, so much character. The game itself is okay, a bunch of random minigames and a lot of dialog boxes, but it's all so very well animated. Later Alligator oozes personality and humor, it had me laughing out loud several times. Love it!

Disappointing set of minigames - most are barely games at all, several are pure games of chance. The collecting mechanic is spoilt by the timer, preventing you from just exploring the game at your own pace. The narrative is funny, but it doesn't make up for the annoying gameplay.

It's a collection of minigames wrapped around really charming art style. Story line contains quite a nice twist at the end. It's also not overstaying its welcome.

Haven't played through all of it, but it's a lovely game that I really just enjoy "existin in" as a player :) I really enjoy how every part of the world feels alive through the animation work from SmallBü studio and how the puzzles aren't always easy :)

Someone get poor Pat some therapy.
Cute little game with cute little puzzles that never get too difficult. The characters have unique, cute designs and personalities. It made me laugh a few times. Also has three different endings. One for your first playthrough, one for when you collect all the family members (can be done in the second or third playthrough), and one when you collect all the puzzle pieces.
The game isn't very long, maybe an hour per playthrough. Time passes in the game per conversation/mini game you play, which is why you need to play at least two to three times more to get the full story.

A very short review for a game that you can spend a short amount of time on.
This isn't so much a "game", as it is a story with minigames. Does that make it an entire game? I'm not sure.
The graphics and animations are pretty cute, and the sounds are decent as well (if not a little bit loud, be prepared to turn the volume down significantly.)
It's a fun story, and this is honestly probably something you could sit a kid in front of and they might have fun with it. There are only a few adult-ish themes (nothing that is controversial, but you may need a conversation about some of it) but overall it's family friendly.
I'd probably recommend this when it goes on sale, but if it tosses any money to the developers and to Neil Cicierega then it's probably worth the coin spent.
It's a small production but well done. I think it works perfectly for the target audience.
Pat is so cuuuute I can't get enough of him! I've been humming the theme tunes for like two weeks after playing it. Everyone should play this and be delighted.

Don't mind the playtime - for some reason steam decided to force me offline. It took me ~3 hours to complete the game blindly, and this is just the first playthrough - without all puzzle pieces and interactions. I'm definitely going for 100%.
I loved the silly alligator animations and this is by far my favorite indie game. Everyone should definitely add this game when discounted (I got it for $3 with 85 percent discount).
A humorous feel-good cozy game well worth playing! (I recommend playing it through multiple times!)
First off the animation is so adorable. The characters are bubbly in a fun way that you don't see often and it really helps describe their characters.
The dialogue is hilarious, which is partially because a lot of the characters are off the wall, but it makes the game that much better.
The game play itself is mostly a point and click adventure with a menagerie of mini games sprinkled around a good sized world. The mini games are mostly pretty easy, but they're entertaining and engaging so the game doesn't feel like a sludge.

"Later Alligator" is a comedic game about an unnamed, pinstripe suit, character whom helps "Pat" - a socially anxious alligator - to uncover what his family members are plotting. This through various comedic puzzles and minigames.

Achievements in this game vary from extremely easy, to an absolute slog.
Ones like puzzle pieces can glitch out (fix for this found in the achievement guide), and the ones for minigames can be softlocked for a full run. The pinball lizard one is also extremely buggy and RNG reliant.

I enjoyed this game a fair bit. It offers a varied and fun experience, but completing it can be fairly tedious due to bugs/lack of dialogue skips. The main gimmick is that there's a time limit (Pat calling you to help at specific hours), which can be a little annoying as failing a minigame will cost you 30 mins. The game is designed to have you run out of time before meeting all gators, so multiple runs are required to get all family members. I feel like that can be a little discouraging, especially due to the lack of explanation regarding it.
The gameplay itself is fine (though some minigames are brutal compared to others). Would've liked a little more guidance on puzzle pieces and gator locations however.

Give it a try I'd say. You can refund it if it doesn't click with you within the first few hours.

All of his family members have interesting personalities. I liked the way it led up to the true ending and talking to npcs was fun. It was very tedious though trying to find all the puzzle pieces. I was expecting more lore from the content the puzzle pieces unlocked but it was not what I wanted. Just skip collecting puzzle pieces if you don't want stress out while checking all the locations.

This game was such a blast, lemme tell you! I love me a game that doesn't take itself too seriously. With its goofy writing and wacky visual gags, and its fun minigame variety, it's gonna get some sort of noise relating to joy, other positive emotion, or uncertain nervous confusion. I especially like how you can click on stuff and watch funny li'l animations like all those old point N' clicks.
Every character here is unique. With their own little quirks and sometimes strange pasts, they're quite the memorable congregation! (That's what a group of alligators is called)
However, I won't lie that trying to solve the sliding puzzle without any help because I was too stubborn to consider an easier method despite me not knowing how to solve sliding puzzles nearly made me go insane a bit, but that's maybe on me.
All in all, if you're looking for a game oozing with charm, wit, fun characters, sharp teeth, and occasionally ooze, then I highly recommend this game!
(oh, and I also recommend playing the game more than once!)

Fun short game, very creative and well written. Only minor complaint is some of the minigames are a bit janky and having achievements tied to some of them is incredibly frustrating. Results in pure RNG at times.
