A great game with a wonderful amount of depth in regards to their crafting system, which can be enjoyed by anyone... in singleplayer. Unfortunately, there is a bug that has been affecting multiplayer games for OVER A YEAR that only some users experience, where they cannot stay connected to a multiplayer server for longer than 10-15 minutes.
Should you manage to not experience this bug or not care for any multiplayer experience, this game will give you hundreds of hours of fun. However, I cannot recommend a game that hasn't been working properly for almost two years.
Great concept for a survival game. Well executed story and interesting gameplay overall. I have some glaring issues with keyboard and mouse control scheme, and stupid Xbox cloud sync saving. The Xbox account nonsense keeps crashing my game as well saying I don't have a Microsoft account and can't play multiplayer if I don't have one, even if I'm already logged in.
On the control scheme side of things; many of the standard settings are hard to get used to and there are so many controls, remapping them doesn't help. Using a controller is an option, but the whole point of buying it on PC was optimized for keyboard controls.
Definitely worth the money paid for it. Great when playing co-op. A lot to explore & craft that kept us entertained for longer than the game should of took to complete.
Good Co-Op game, fun to play with decent crafting and story
Great survival game with a unique setting and a surprising amount of depth! And I haven't even tried NG+ yet.
Fun setting survival game. Survival part is as good as most survival games I've played before. If you like survival games you'll like this spin on them.
i personally tink that this is the best survivak game that i ever played, only by tinking that i would remember all the story about the yard i start crying. 10/10 i recomend it
Great game. Exploration is really fun, the different areas are distinct and fun to explore. Crafting feels great, gathering materials/parts is actually fun and doesn't feel too tedious which is something I feel a lot of survival games either hit or miss, usually miss from my PoV but its great here. Love the game.
This is a high quality survival base building game. I've played basically every game in the genre, and the thing I was most impressed with in Grounded is the polish. This game feels complete, with very few technical errors. After playing games like Ark and Conan, it's a breath of fresh air to have a game that works fully. In early access they followed an update schedule and stuck to it, and delivered way beyond what they needed to. I would absolutely play Grounded 2, or any other survival game they develop.
Things I liked the most:
>Great exploration, the map is really unique and looks very neat from the small perspective.
>Missions and story line to keep you exploring new areas and unlocking new things.
>Good to great base building, not very many crazy shapes or anything, but you can do a lot with what is provided.
>Different biomes keep game play fresh.
>Combat is medium difficulty. Figure out perfect blocks and you are good to go.
>Tons of really neat spots to build bases, you'll want to build everywhere!
Overall, I think this game is 100% worth the full price. I've played through 3 times now, and I'll probably play again in a few years!
This is essentualy just honey i shrunk the kids the game. and it is AWSOME, I have never found a game that can be both adorable and terrifying at the same time, the atmosphere is spot on, and the enemys are perfect, I only wish that we could go inside the house. But still this is a amazing game
This game is sooo fun. I love building little houses and big biig houses and squashing bugs. Spiders make me scream. Raaaw Science!
Please make a similar game to grounded
It has the perfect balance of story and gameplay. It's a really nice co-op game
You may or may not get over your arachnaephobia
One of the best games ever made, a must play. The music, the atmosphere, the story, the gameplay, it's all top notch.
Quite literally the best survival game available on the market, it has everything. most survivals have good building, bad survival and combat, or good combat but bad in the other areas this game has it all.
for me the combat almost feels like a first person Sekiro timing your parrys to match the fast attacks on the enemy and then hitting on their downtimes.
the survival building is similar to the forest where you place blueprints and fill them in with planks chopped down the building has been refined and it very intuitive and has lots of pieces for making very cool and complex builds.
the approach of "fast travel", or mobility of this game is different to other, other survivals will introduce vehicles or something this game allows you to build zip lines, so you can create outposts or a simple zip line anchor allowing you to quickly zip on over to different sections on the map, this is an awesome system of exploring really far and taking the journey back home progressing to you zipin' on over and zipin' back. (TIP: you can even send your planks down zip lines allowing you to send materials for building back to base from resource heavy area's)
the game as a tier system allowing you to, at the surface, know what gear is better than other, with the best tier 3 gear being found in the later sections of the map and or from bosses. the bosses of this game are very fun and are very rewarding. and a tiered axe and hammer meaning you need to work you way up the tiers to mine the high tiered resources.
it also features a new game plus, something I've never experienced in a traditional survival game before allowing you to keep all your builds, equipment and resetting the story, because of the survival aspect and you getting to keep your builds, it feels more like a "reset the story button" than a newgame plus, until you see all the new unlocks that just don't stop after you start advancing through the remixing levels(new game+1 +2 +3 etc.)
the game really does have it all and couldn't suggest it more to people who have enjoyed games like subnautica, the forest. subnautica was my favourite for a long time but it lacked combat just like the forest's combat also felt lacklustre but those games had amazing survival and overall progression elements to them, grounded has it all.
I've played this game for hundreds of hours total since it was in early access, i was on xbox back then and the devs have done nothing but improve and innovate since then, i truly hope we get a grounded 2
i can seriously give this game a 11/10
needed a survival game to play after Abiotic Factor. this is super fun and clever. the spiders are pretty intense at first, but you get more powerful. love it!! can't wait for more updates
Awesome concept executed tremendously. Extremely immersive with a great sense of humor and game mechanics which raise the bar on intuitiveness and creativeness. Can't wait to put over 100 hours into this one :]
Enjoyable to play with friends, lots of armor types.
Graphics are clean and beautiful-
love the mutations options.
So what we have here is one of those non-gridded sandbox survival games. You know the ones: games like Sea of Thieves and Fallout 4 where you're able to build houses in a more free-form design, usually in a world that isn't procedurally-generated. And in this game, those are both very true, but with a fun twist.
Here's the rundown: this is one of those games, except it takes place in the movie Honey I Shrunk the Kids. You're a tiny teenager in the 1990's, scrambling to both stay alive and figure out what the hell is going on. You spend most of this game building houses with blades of grass, twigs, and bug parts. You fight ants and spiders, and you explore the wonders of a back yard scattered with toys and abandoned junkfood packaging. Then, deep within the confines of this now-giant yard, you begin to find hidden labs, where Dr. Tully and his robot companion BURG-L help you to piece together the backstory and return to normal size.
What this game excels at is the idea of letting you as a player have more fun. You can craft basketball courts and play basketball anywhere in the world, your fastest form of travel is custom-made ziplines, and you can even do goofy things like adopt a pet weevil or fly around on a gnat. It's not overly-concerned with balance or practicality, but still provides a good challenge and gameplay flow.
The building in this game is superb, with the only issue being that more people don't know about it. It's hard to find cool builds online, which is unfortunate, as that becomes a driving force for me enjoying these kinds of games continually.
Overall, great game. Check it out!
And because you might be concerned, this game has cross-platform play, so don't hesitate if your friends have it on console, you can still play together.
I've probably spent 100 hours just on base building.
If only they would release DLC or a new game.
Very good and very nice game, i like being small because it is fun and i kill every insect in the game because hahah. you should buy and contact me so play lets goooooo!
Really good survival game. Devs are done adding features but they keep supporting it by fixing things.
Pretty good progression, and fun gameplay. some bosses a little unbalanced though. 8/10 game though!
Good game.
I liked Grounded because it had a good story and it had great detail.I really like buggy games ( PUN NOT INTENDED ) so when I got grounded I tried to glitch it, it was hard.
Good game. very wow. my brother and i play it on the weekends and the multiplayer is rather seamless. a bit of lag in places but not enough to cause us any strife. 9/10. -1 because lawn mites are the actual devil.
I love this game! Perfect to play with your friends or if you don't like humans, you can also solo it ♥
I hope there's going to be future updates, or even a sequel. this game is amazing.
I'd seen the game in development for years and never really tried it. Played it after full release with most of the extra additions released by that point and dang, a LOT more game here than I expected. It's got a great 90s nostalgia angle to it, plus is just plain fun.
I'd say the worst part of the game is that the combat is, unfortunately, just too simple. It definitely works and is responsive and snappy, but doing well in combat is 100% centered around doing perfect blocks to avoid damage and get bonuses. Personally, I hate that sort of thing because it relies on the enemy doing things rather than me getting to set them up.
The various difficulty settings basically just multiply enemy health and damage by a LOT with each higher difficulty. Even on normal, many enemies can be annoyingly grindy to kill. Usually this is offset by getting the next tier up of weapons, but then combat turns into something of a slog once you've got the final level of weapons.
Beyond that, I love the visual style and world design. It's simply cool as anything to be safely holed up in your fortress, looking down in the morning to see grass waving around as spiders patrol. There is actually a solid storyline here, plus multiple endings. The game is also extremely forgiving about getting the various endings, basically straight-up telling you where to go to unlock another ending and then letting you load the game to right back before you finished.
Ultimately I finished up with the "complete" ending at about 70 hours. Played the whole game solo and, aside from enemy health and damage sometimes leaping enormously, didn't have much trouble. If I had one obstacle, it's that I kept expecting less out of the game and it kept delivering more. It's also got some great customization options; I played mostly at Medium with a couple changes like having the Handy Gnat turned on. Building without the Handy Gnat works, but the Gnat makes it tremendously faster and easier. And also turned off weapon durability, I hate dealing with time-eating options like that.
I will say that if you have a genuine fear of spiders, be warned this game pits you against enormous ones. The game has an arachnophobia mode to replace their in-game model, but I'm not even bothered by spiders and the big ones creeped me out. So if you gotta turn that mode on, turn it on. It's there for a good reason.
What an adventure...a must play for anyone who likes survival crafting games. There is a lot to explore, lot to unlock and you will never have a dull moment...
...well, maybe only when collecting toenails.
I live in Tailand (Bangcock) my name is Park Da-Khar and de game ist nicht git.
i eated a bug
then a bug eated me
then i eated a bug
then a bug eated me
then i got some chippos
then i got traumatic dreams
then i found raisin
then i growed up and got even
then i start over
i eated a bug
then a bug eated me
then i eated a bug
then a bug eated me...
A fun survival game filled with solid story elements. Having the enemies be the insects you played with as a kid really adds a fun dynamic to exploring what the world has to offer. The sheer size of the backyard also allows for an ever expanding upgrade path for armour, weapons and mutations, and you can definitely feel yourself getting stronger as the game progresses, without ever becoming "too easy".
Ticks all my boxes for a fun rpg, and has been a blast playing co-op too!
so I recently played Grounded and had a good time. However as a Gnu/Linux user i encountered some performance issues. maybe after about 20 mins game noticeable stutters with a high ping problem..its only from the multiplayer side.I hope future updates can address these performance issues to enhance the overall
gameplay experience.
I absolutely love this game. The survival elements are designed in a playful way manage to be interesting without being burdensome. Exploration is very fun and the game world feels very deep. The gearing and mutations provide so many interesting options and are also fun to theory-craft around. This is the sort of game that childhood me would have absolutely binged over a winter break and still not be bored of. Its easy to pick up, but has so much to learn and master.
The only point in this game I ever stopped having fun was in the pond. Underwater levels suck. They will always suck. No gimmick will ever make them not suck. I'm so glad the name of the game is called "Grounded" and not "Watered" so I don't have to deal with diving the pond's caves more than once per play-through.
I love crafting/survival games myself, and Grounded creates an intriguing and interesting premise of being shrunk down in the backyard. It is like Minecraft in that you don't have a lot of instruction (which may be a turn off). But it is well done and quite crafty. I can recommend this game especially if you like crafting and survival games.
trying to play multiplayer has not been abl to work trying to play with frends cant do to in game we tryed anything hope you can fix soon
It's pretty good, it's a little bit on the grindy side for late game, but not egregiously so. It's nice that you can actually beat the game, which is very rare in this genre, and I like the visuals quite a lot.
One of the best games I've played but after I saved and quit the game the next time I logged into the game 3+ days were completely deleted including the 4 times I killed the broodmother the 3 milk mollers I found and much more, I didn't even alt f4 the game to cause this to happen so just because of that I am forced to leave a negative review but other than that I still really enjoyed the game.
TL;DR: Don't buy if you don't have an xbox account.
This game looks fantastic! I've heard overwhelmingly positive things about it, and was, maybe in hindsight, overly positive about playing this game. I can't play this game though thanks to the malevolent necessity of needing a connected xbox account just to host a dedicated multiplayer game. This game is not that old but it already feels like the producers have abandoned the need to support steam multiplayer. I just get and the error code:
"The game you are trying to join no longer exists.
JoinPlatformSession: Failed: 2"
No matter what I try. My friend has the lobby up and I have the right password or no password and it's the same symptoms everytime. I don't have an xbox account but I really want to play with friends.

"Grounded? More like Groundbreaking!"
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be the tiniest human alive, surviving in a backyard filled with insects that could probably eat you in one bite, then Grounded is your dream come true. Seriously, I didn’t know how much I needed to shrink to the size of an ant and fight off spiders the size of SUVs, but now I can’t stop.
Let’s talk about the graphics, people. The world looks gorgeous – it’s like a Pixar movie where instead of saving the world, you’re trying not to get devoured by a ladybug (spoiler: the ladybug usually wins). The backyard is so detailed, I’ve gotten emotionally attached to some grass blades. Every time I chop one down, it feels like I’m tearing apart a family. RIP, tall blade of grass, you served me well in my quest to hide from that mutant mosquito.
The combat is chef’s kiss as well. Who needs a sword when you can craft a spear out of a stick and some aphid guts? Nothing says "bravery" like charging into battle against a spider the size of your nightmares while holding a broken pebble and hoping for the best. The spiders? Terrifying. I thought my heart would stop when I saw one sprinting toward me. Spoiler: it did not. My heart did not survive that encounter. But I respawned and went back for more because nothing says "I'm an adventurer" like willingly walking into a death trap.
The best part? The teamwork. You and your pals will bond over building bases out of sticks and leaves, only for it to be destroyed by a random, angry bee. It’s a test of friendship when you’re all just trying to craft a hammer, but someone’s too busy trying to kill a spider the size of their childhood fears.
In conclusion, Grounded is a rollercoaster of emotions, crafting, and panic. I’d give it 5 stars, but I’m still trying to recover from the trauma of that first spider. I’ve never been more terrified of a game in my life, and I love it. 10/10, would get eaten by a ladybug again. Iykyk
Verdict: 10 / 10 - With a a constant fear of being stepped on or eaten, would definitely get squashed again!
Honestly, give this game a go its amazing, plus its even more amazing if you have friends to play it with. You used to need an Xbox account to play with people but not you can just play with people via steam. You wont regret giving this game a go (unless you maybe hate spiders lmao, but there is a mode for that thankfully)
i dunno migth be boring with friens and its hard too know where too progress in the story but its a good game, better then raft. NEVER EVERY BUY RAFT!!!
Multiplayer doesn't work anymore
Bad game, i don't understand how 3-4 years after the game still hasn't fixed their multiplayer issues. My friends can't join and i can't join any multiplayer game. there is always the error that the session doesn't exist anymore.
Has been a blast to play online coop with my wife. She really enjoys the building and taming of creatures. I have found it quite challenging trying to handle the combat for both of us, but the exploration is a blast. It is pleasingly hard to get to that second tier of items!
I can't play this game with my friends via steam (no longer exists), the developers don't solve and ignore any issues.
DON'T BUY if you gonna play with your friends via steam.
Me got shrunk down in some guys yard grab a tiny rock and starts beating an ant to death with it. Explore a little more and find giant spider and gets eaten. I respon and make a spear out of rock and sprig stab the spider twice then die again. make my brother join me and stab the spider to death. overall prity realistic game will play again.
best game and pretty good story
The grind is real. I was a child when I watched Honey I Shrunk the Kids and I used to imagine the whole experience through my own lens for years even until I was a teenager. After playing this game I got all my old fond imaginations and stories back. It made me feel like a child again and it thank obsidian for that. The game in general is great as it features a ton of enemies that have their own attack mechanisms and weakness. The insects can create an aura of distress which makes your heart jump while you do get subsequent upgrades after a while to sway away that fear as well. Anyhow the game is worth buying if you wanna play alone or with your friends, the most fun part for me was building a huge base at the Oak tree. The building mechanics are great as well and help you out a lot if used wisely. The game also got me wondering about how spoiled the earth is getting after coming in contact with human created waste, while I knew about it theoretically the whole experience of looking at the whole backyard of a house closely made be understand the problem from a "small" perspective. Its a great game overall.
9/10
