the translation / reading is trash. Have to reapply the "dlc" to uncensored every time you start. the battle is standard turn base and isn't bad. At the current sale price of $2.5 its worth it
Nifty SRPG! Features a somewhat choppy but decent enough translation - you can understand the gist of each sentence and the writing in terms of its content is telling a great detailed and lore rich story. Lots of intrigue and lore early including a very nice intro movie that sets the scene. The gameplay is good so far but can only get better as when you get to a city hub there are quite a few ways to enhance and upgrade your characters. That's a great part of the game, that it's not *just* battle after battle. Not super lewd either, it's a pretty classy RPG thus far. I recommend it, will play more in future. Thanks for the cool RPG, devs!
Simple tactical rpg set in a fantasy setting, plus anime-style waifus. Do you feel like engaging in this battle?
Tactics & Strategy Master 2:Princess of Holy Light is a budget tactical game, the second of this type from this dev. It is definitely better than the previous one but there are some balancing issues (and more).
The story puts you in the shoes of an amnesiac protagonist who is quickly involved in a grand adventure to assist princesses in saving the world. Well, there is an opening movie (pretty well done) setting the background first. There is something about seven kingdoms, seven princesses, prophecies, missing officials etc. Not a terrible story, but don't expect anything really sophisticated from a budget game. There are two endings and seven available marriage endings. Good enough, I guess. However, the English translation makes comprehension challenging at times. Certainly, I've seen worse than this, but I can easily count that as a flaw. Gotta save money somewhere, right?
Moving on, the gameplay is pretty standard but there are a few less common elements. After the first three battles, you gain access to a map with several buildings representing various features:
-Guild- currently available missions (one story and one bonus mission)
-Training Camp- you can train characters, gain some skill points and items
-Pub- recruit assistants
-My Team- organise your team
-Blacksmith- craft weapons
-Skill Store- upgrade skills
-Sacred Tree's Cave- touch waifu
-Cave Seeking- mini game with materials to win
The core of the game are battles. All very limited and simple. You fight on flat maps with some terrain obstacles. You can't place your troops manually, all set when you start your mission. Just move and attack.
Princesses have two active and two passive skills to set and use; assistants are limited to one of each you hire them with (random combination). Additionally, each character has a specific class: warrior, mage, thief, and healer. You can only assign one assistant per princess in your team of four and they have to have the same class as the princess. Not much customisation here.
The difficulty is very uneven. Most battles are way too easy but there are a few that can pose a serious challenge if you don't level up characters a lot. Not a natural/fluid difficulty progression. Well, you can level princesses fast through the touching mini game so you can skip the lengthy grind.
A bit on customisation now. Each class can be upgraded once you hit level 20 (twice). Every class upgrade presents you with two choices, so you have some flexibility in how to grow your warrior princesses. Every upgrade also unlocks assistants sharing the selected class, which you can then hire in the pub. Moreover, aside from the entry class, you can only equip weapons assigned to a particular class. You can only change princess' weapon, not assistants'one but you can hire various tiers instead (gray, green, blue, red). Hiring ones with better stats can be way too costly, though. It is often better to just hire a cheaper one since stats difference is not that significant. As for weapons, you can get/upgrade them for gold and materials. The cost of upgrades is way too high here. It is impossible to max out more than one weapon (if at all) in one playthrough. I had to play twice to just upgrade two weapons to level 5 (+other two to level 4). You get way too little money to upgrade them.
Skills require a lot of points to max out, but you can grind those from the training option at least. Takes time to make them useful, though (most at least).
The whole game can be done in about 20-30h. New game allows you to keep gold, skill levels and weapons, but you will need to level up characters again. I spent way more time grinding than necessary, so it took me a bit longer than that. As mentioned earlier, I consider this title as better than Tactics & Strategy Master:Joan of Arc. For the price asked, it is good enough, in my opinion.
Character art is pretty good. All princesses have colourful and detailed art. In the touching mini-game, you can experience some nude versions, unfortunately, the patch provided has not worked for me, so everything was censored with a white light. The battlefields during missions were pretty basic, but still an improvement over the previous game. You can also watch short skill animations during battles, which you can turn off in the options. For a budget game, visuals are fine. The opening movie is probably the best in terms of art this game has to offer.
The music implemented here is ok. There is some variety, but most battles have the same track, so they can become a bit monotone after a while. Too bad there is no voice acting during the story. The opening movie is the only part with any voice.
Lastly, let me mention the technical issues I encountered. First, the game crashed several times after using the self-healing skill for some reason. It crashed at random other moments as well, multiple times. Mission 11 has a game breaking bug causing the game to freeze frequently (characters on top of each other). It is still possible to complete it but you might need to try more than once. The warrior class upgrade mission can be succesfully completed despite defeating all trainers.
To conclude, a simple tactical rpg with uneven difficulty, a badly translated story (in English), decent anime art and ok music. For a budget title, it is decent enough despite some technical issues. I sure enjoyed it, but my expectations were not particularly high (especially after the previous tactical game from this dev). I can tepidly recommend it to genre enthusiasts who like budget games: 5.7/10
fUN TIME
The translation is bad, at some points entirely unintelligible.
The game play is decent at best, fairly mediocre for a tactics game.
The adult content is mediocre at best.
The game falsely advertises: 200 different weapons
You can craft 5 or so variants of about 10 categories of weapons (with each variant having about 5 upgrades) =
50 "types of weapons" with 5 upgrades each = 250 items
There is a couple of unique items you can get though. But I would hardly call this game having 200 actually different weapons.
The real reason you should NOT buy this game is that it has an Game-ENDING glitch in Mission 11 (that has been known by the developer since 2019 and still no fix). So in Mission 11 you get a mission that starts out pretty much like the previous 10 missions: Cutscene -> Enemy Placement -> Game Play (Kill all enemy units). In this mission you however get a fairly large number of friendly units and a fairly large amount of enemies. No problem. EXCEPT the fact that one of your friendly units is PLACED ontop of an enemy unit, which glitches this unit out so that the game thinks it is friendly during your and friendly unit's turn, but the glitched enemy can attack you and the friendly units during its turn. So an enemy you can not kill in a battle where you have to kill all enemies. That is GAME-ENDING. And not only can you not kill this glitched enemy, if it attacks one of your friendly units the game will crash, so both Game-ENDING and Game-Crashing.
So if this issue was fixed I might consider re-reviewing the game. If you consider this game for its Tactics game-play get Wargroove instead. If you consider this game for its adult content get another game with better quality art and better game play.
It kept crashing, and was a fairly well made game by someone who was a fan of RPG's from the past. It is playable, and has some interesting mechanics. It is however very grindy. It has heart, but lacks polish. the abilities aren't subtle enough in their execution. With many being far more powerful than others.
But the game not making enough auto-saves and then crashing mid-mission several times made me depressed.
Having trouble playing this game, cant get past the scene after beating the first missing its goes to a black screen you can hear clicking in the background and unable to do anything to advance the screen. have not been able to play this game at all, upon reloading the game via continue im loaded into the town, and all i can do is go to the guild take that mission beat it and have it bugged out.
It looked like fire emblem so i bought it.
It plays like a crappy and clunky fire emblem lite however.
The interface isn't great and using it wrong can even lead to softlocking the game as soon as you enter the first fight *-*
There is empty black blocks in some places like the 'Bag' or the 'DLC' stuff on main menu screen.
Occasionally it will display wrong health bars on the map after healing.
Then there is the obviously not properly proofread english texts...
Even the interface menus (Cancel is No?) Sometimes wrong sprites show up in text (Help section on pub for instance)
Also spacing, don't cut off words halfway because the line ended lol e.g. 'Busi once said t' and then next line 'hat the appearance...'
The story is alright, although it could also have done a better job not jumping all over the place.
All in all it feels like there should have been more testing done for this game.
I also really wonder why they implemented the whole partial nudity thing, doesn't seem to fit at all. It's not like it is adding anything to the game itself. I honestly didn't even know it was a thing until i started playing and it just feels odd being there at all. (You click light orbs around their bodies that are censored with clouds while they moan for experience?)
I enjoy fire emblem way too much so i'm biased and probably would still recommend it (Especially given it's price)
But there is just a bit too many flaws i have already found in my first few hours of playing for me to justify a positive review.
interesting thing I think
The system forces me to recommend Yes or No, but in truth I'd like to simply put "Neutral."
Anyways, to get any enjoyment out of this game, you need to not take the game seriously. This is because by conventional standards, this is an awful video game.
The interface and graphic are clunky and jarring. The translations are at times disastrous ("golden dress" is spelled as "gold he address"). Tutorials are virtually non-existent outside of a few interface guides. The game does not let you know when certain features become available so you end up playing a few rounds essentially with a handicap. And the story... I obviously did not expect a mind-blowing story. Heck, I did not even expect a competent story (I know what this is). The plot is alright under these expectations, but the story-telling is just so uneven. For example, hardly any developments happen before the MC gains the right to molest all the princesses in the realm (repeatedly).
Above all though, the biggest issue with the game is the extremely unbalanced gameplay. You either overwhelm the enemies, or the enemies overwhelm you. There is no middle ground. In one map, my team got their butts handed to them handily. Then, after only 2 rounds of training, my team now deals triple digits damage and receives virtually none from the same enemies. The difficulty level spikes whenever the game feels like it. In one map, hardly any promoted enemies. In the next map, lvl 20+ promoted enemies everywhere. In some maps, you need some luck just to finish on time. Then in some other maps, you can literally let your overpowered allies kill everything for you.
Because the game is so extreme, no strategy other than grinding is viable. Skills are too basic (and cost too much) to create builds that can make up for gaps in level. Crafting system is a major joke because it costs an arm and a leg to purchase even 1 blueprint, let alone to gear your whole team. Whenever it is not brokenly unbalanced, the gameplay is repetitive to a fault. For examples, there are 2 core features in the game: 1/ a feature to get random loots by rolling dices and playing rock-paper-scissor 2/ as with all H-game, a feature to level up girls by doing H-stuffs to them. Both of these are fun... for the first few times. But when you have to do them dozens more times just for the gameplay benefits, they become annoying.
So... if I see so many faults with the game, why am I neutral about it? Well, the game costs about the same as a cup of Starbucks. Once I see it like that and less of a video game, it becomes a mildly interesting experience. The game is entertaining in the way that homemade food sometimes taste better than gourmet restaurant food. It's just so genuine and simple-minded. Rather than immersing myself in the game world, I instead immerse myself in the the way that the game is developed.
My final recommendation is No because I believe most people on Steam look for good video games, which this is not. However, if you feel a little tired from all the games that take themselves too seriously, this game can serve as a decent distraction for a few days.
It's worth it. It currently gets updates. The developer is cool. The translation is terrible. The mechanics are neat. The story is fun.
(edit) the developers have fixed the game and it works fine, is fun game would recomend.
Censorship
Poor translation, to the point where the word written on the screen make absolutely no sense.
Boring gameplay.
