Amazing game, no joke

Every time I play it w a friend im screaming or theyre screaming. very fast paced, moderately deep mechanics, but also very simple to understand the basics of.

The perfect couch fighting game. Well... it's not really a fighting game per-se, but I think there's a comparison to be made. It's certainly no Tekken, but I think this works well as a minimalist alternative to the standard fighting game formula. The art style and soundtrack have this very psychotic quasi-retro vibe that frankly hasn't been replicated much in spite of the explosion of indie games in the past decade since its release. Even the sequel doesn't hold a candle to the style of the original, though that game is going for something completely different style-wise.

I will say though that beyond the local multiplayer there's not much meat on the bone. The singleplayer is fun for speedrunning, but it doesn't necessarily warrant more than a couple of hours of playtime. Despite that this still holds on a decade later as one of my favorite games of all time.

A game that is as wide as a puddle and equally deep. There is a fair argument to be made for the value of the game in terms of a sit-down with your friends on the couch type of game, but even in that framework I find this game to be less than tepid. A $10 pricetag for a game that has less quality and content than a flash game of yore. I would argue this game would only be worth it if it is free. The game is relatively fun, but there is zero depth.

Wish there was more maps, but easily to learn. Although basic pixel art, its more charming than the sequel's art direction.

it's a discord call game, one that rots in ur library until you and ur friends get bored one night, and I will say that it achieves that very well

The music, visual style, intuitive combat make for an amazing game that makes you wish they never made that disgusting second one. Like. Wtf.

better than the sequel

Simple controls, yet filled to the brim with depth. Amazing for local play. I played this with a friend with just my keyboard and one controller, and it was great. Just keyboard is probably fine as well. The style is superb and the music is dramatic. I wish I could play this with real people online still :(.

It's a very fun game that gives a few laughs but is DEFINITELY not worth 10$. 5$ is already stretching it, so get it at a discount if possible. There's very little content in the game. 5 maps, 1 weapon. That's it. Yes there's a few variants here an there but it doesn't take away from its repetitiveness. However, the game IS fun and the skill cap is not too high, so basically anyone can play it without having an unfair advantage.

That being said...
FUCK THE "HOGGLIKE" ACHIEVEMENT. FUCK WHOEVER THOUGH THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA. THAT WAS TOTAL ASS. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT FUCKING MIND WOULD BE DELUSIONAL ENOUGH TO SET SUCH ACHIEVEMENT LIKE THAT!? WHY?!!? WHY MUST YOU TORTURE US IN SUCH A WAY?! WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN US!? I SPENT 2 HOURS IN THE GAME ACTUALLY HAVING FUN AND THEN 20 HOURS BANGING MY HEAD AGAINST THE WALL FOR A SINGLE ACHIEVEMENT THAT MADE ME SEE THE SAME 4 MAPS OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN WITH HOUR LONG ATTEMPTS THAT YIELDED NOTHING. I NEVER WANT TO DO ANYTHING LIKE THAT EVER AGAIN AN-- Oh shit there's a Nidhogg 2? oh hell yeah, can't wait to play that!

I played this a lot more than my hours show.
The best 1v1 party game, while everyone watches and cheers waiting for their turn.
