Beware, advantages in Nidhogg are often fleeting, as new opponents continually spawn in your way. Use a variety of fencing maneuvers while armed -- lunges, parries, and even dirty tricks like throwing your sword. If swordless, press forward with punches, sweep kicks, dive kicks, rolls, and wall jumps.
The combat arena stretches in both directions, although besting an opponent only gains you ground. Matches aren’t won or lost with a single kill, but with a series of kills granting you right-of-way to run/fight/flee to your own goal-zone.
Each arena holds different strategic formations and chokepoints to use to your advantage. Until you reach your goal-zone, anything is possible. Only one thing is certain in Nidhogg… the only way to win is to outwit your opponent. En Garde!

This game is dope as fuck.
Probably one of the greatest modern couch VS games ever conceived. A must have classic even if you plan to play alone. This is one of the best arcade experiences you'll have. Period.

One of those games you buy with a friend, you can both get into it in 30 seconds, and play for an hour or two every few months. Fits a niche very well
Fun silly game about fencing. The controls are very simple so anyone can pick it up and play but the mastering of the combat is where it gets very in depth. The game feels like a trip a lot of the times with the combination of some map visuals and the almost surreal soundtrack playing in the background, almost as if the whole game takes place in a weird dream or some psychedelic adventure. Its definitely a game you want to play with your friends as this is a 1 on 1 fencing game but it does have a single player campaign that you can go through where it puts you against 16 different opponents that seem to get increasingly difficult. There's not much to do after you beat it though as there is only a tournament mode and multiplayer mode besides the singleplayer.
The game can get hilarious, as the animations are pretty funny since they are so simple and the combination with the possibility of being able to do crazy plays or tricks plus the addition of you screaming at your friend and chasing them with a sword, I think this game deserves a try. If you have friends to play with, I'm sure this would be a good fun time with buddies for a couple of minutes or even hours, depending on how competitive you all are or not since it can get pretty goofy.
