Choose a default team of 3 characters or make your own team by picking up 3 characters of your choice, and fight against teams until victory! Develop your own team strategy by choosing the best characters for you!
・STORY：
In this mode, you will experience a variety of background stories not touched upon in the game’s original Arcade Version. Discover the truth about KOF’s “Ash Saga” and its secrets through the eyes of the main character, Ash Crimson, and oth[/i]er characters who were not directly participating in the tournament. Your decisions and battle results may lead you to discovering new story elements; try out all the different options and every scene!
・NETWORK:
"THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII Steam Edition" now features vastly improved netcode that will provide you with the most comfortable online experience yet! The new netcode features improved communication speeds between you and your opponent, and also tailors your online experience according to your PC environment!
“THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII Steam Edition” features three different types of ONLINE VERSUS Matches, allowing players to challenge other rivals worldwide in endless and intense battles:
‐ “Ranked Match”: fight under specified regulations, and your results will be reflected in the rankings.
- “Player Match”: playing in this mode will not affect your results. You can fight against others casually.
- “Friend Match”: invite online players and challenge them through this mode for heated competition!
・MISSION:
Tackle three different kinds of missions in this mode, and improve your skills!
- “TIME ATTACK”: Defeat all CPU opponents in the shortest time you can.
- “SURVIVAL”: Select a character and fight your way through as many CPU opponents as you can.
- “TRIAL”: In this mode, each character has 10 tasks, which mainly focus on combos. By the time you complete all 10 tasks, you will have mastered some combos for that character.
・TUTORIAL:
Rose Bernstein, hostess of the tournament, will teach you the basic techniques as well as explain the gauges and their uses. First time KOF players should start here to get used to the game.
・CUSTOMIZE:
This mode allows you to edit your online profile and change character color palette. You can create a team to use online, add icons collected while playing, or enter a preset message that you want to use in your profile. For each character, you can make up to five custom color patterns. Show off your personality on the worldwide stage!
・OPTION:
A “GRAPHICS OPTION” feature, allowing the players to switch between different frame rates and simplify backgrounds, has been newly added.

Good fighting game. KOF series is a series that get me into fighting game. And i truly thanks SNK for making this series. It means so much to me and my childhood. This Installments is what truly made me learn KOF lore instead of just gameplay and get really interested in it .
Can't believe SNK went the greedy route and going to charge for rollback netcode for decade old games and delisted this version. Truly, never even once i thought SNK gonna go the greedy way.
Thanks for ruining all my expectations of you SNK.
Delisting this game just to re-release it with rollback is very condescending towards the players. Glad they pulled this move before I spent money on Garou 2.

For games like "Sonic X Shadow Generations", I would understand delisting the old but gold "Sonic Generations" because they are basically selling a new title, but if you'll delist this to force people to buy a new version just for a rollback netcode update, that's not cool. Other fighters like "Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2" got a free rollback netcode update. Why not this product? Shame on you, greedy SNK!
Making me rethinkin buying any SNK games from here on out with the scummy re-release tactic for rollback netcode. May be skippin fatal fury now.

I love SNK, but I never thought I'd see greedy tactics from them.
Who in the world re-releasing a decade-old game with a rollback update that most FG studios provide for free? Hell, SNK themselves provided free rollback netcode for their old title under Code Mystic, and knowing SNK's history with rollback, the rollback netcode isn't even going to be top-notch unless it is done by the likes of Code Mystic.

To be clear, this is a good game. It seems, however, that SNK has decided that owners of this version of KOF XIII will not be upgraded to the rollback patch. Do not buy this version, it is a scam.

Not only the game, but also the work of art.
This game is packed with awesome features, I got it on sale but I wouldn't be mad if I picked it up full price. If you enjoy fighting games you need to get it even if it's just to try. It might not become my main title but I will come back repeatedly to try the trials.

The way that Kim's pants are animated is very nice. This is defitely top 2 best looking fighting games for me. Up there with SF3
For a game that is over 10 years old, it looks spectacular! The music is amazing, the sprites and backgrounds are gorgeous. I have not owned a fighting game much less played one in years, this was a steal and a fun experience.
This is a hidden gem.
Combat system is pretty damn tight.
2D sprite graphics don't get much better than this.
Anti-hero protagonists don't get much more charismatic than this.
I think it's worth giving it a try, even nowadays.

It's very best fighting games....I like this game...
Surprisingly a great game for casuals, besides arcade. you have story mode, you can customize each characters colors. The only problem is the tutorial is horrible, it really doesn't teach a beginner anything.
