Minoria.
Несмотря на это, Minoria в чем-то схожа с моими прошлыми проектами (например Momodora и Reverie Under the Moonlight).

Recommend to buy when the game on discount.
I have this game sit in my library for 2 years before I try. Well, I can tell you that this game is not age well for metroidvania.
Good:
Combat is ok and I like parry system.
I like art direction.
Bad:
I don't like map design. There is a lot of shortcut that once you unlock you will unlikely to use them.
The ways your character scaling.
More:
Game is short and story is predictable (both are fine for me)
In this game, both enemy and you are glasscanon but they give you a lot of healing item.
Good game but leveling made game a bit too easy and new game+ is not very challenging. But overall good game and good soundtrack.
A metroidvania with a nice artstyle
If you come in expecting this game to reinvent the wheel or blow you away, it won't. If you come in and expect a decent game that doesn't overstay its welcome, you're in for a treat. I like this game, the visuals and music are very atmospheric and made me want to keep playing.
I don't like the "no-hit boss to get special reward" mechanic, and I never will, but I admit that I had fun doing it, even if Sister Devoir made me want to rip my hair out. Hardest boss in the game and she's only the second boss! The difficulty here is very front-loaded which is usually fine but in such a short game, it feels uneven,
Wish there was more content, or a new game +.
Really good gothic metroidvania. Combat is tight, great soundtrack. The bosses have a bit of dark souls in them but are fair. Highly recommend.
A Nice Platformer suffering a Lack of Polish
Minoria, with its 7 hour runtime, has a number of good elements and looks quite nice. Unfortunately, the whole thing is held back by a lack of polish, especially in the enemy department. The story and worldbuilding are perfectly fine, as is the music. The protagonist also feels nice to control in a vacuum, and the platforming challenges/components, while not too challenging, are perfectly good.
Enemies in Minoria have a tendency to remove three-quarters of your HP bar, which means that you have to keep your health pretty much full at all times to prevent a random death. Since your healing resources are limited and I didn't want to waste them, I had numerous instances where I thought I'd have enough health to survive any single hit, but died instead. Since healing takes a negligible amount of time, this is quite a shame. Coupled with a basic back-to-last-save system, deleting any progress in terms of collectibles or even map discovery, it all felt superficially difficult and tedious.
Enemy design itself is quite fine, but everything has a contact hitbox and all of your attacks move you forward a bit. This can and will make you run into enemies and force you to continuously reposition, during which you can't attack. Additionally, you don't have much of a downward hit, and some enemies are faster than you and track you perfectly, which means you can only barely (read, almost never) land on them without taking damage.
In conclusion, the game is still quite fun to play through, but the lack of polish on the combat design holds it back from being the experience it wants to be. Due to its short length, it doesn't overstay its welcome, and once you drop your puny starting sword for something that gives you a slight height boost with your aerial attack, moving around is very fun.
Note to the developer: as of 2-12-2024, I cannot really bind jump to down-arrow. If I try to jump on semi-solid platforms, it always drops me through, likely because it recognizes the down-arrow as holding the down-direction even if that is rebound to, e.g. s.
I enjoyed playing through the story, but I think it's sort of something that you would really enjoy if you played some of the other momodora games.
The combat is solid and tight like most other momo games, but other than that, the game is alright. I much prefer the pixel art to this though
The game is good. It has a simple story, simple combat, nice art style and pleasant post-classical music. Consider it a small game from a small team. Don't expect a deep twisted plot or advanced mechanics, just enjoy the ride.
Basic metroidvania fare with nice characters and story, but slow sticky delayed combat and movement.
Right from the beginning, quickly bound by numerous locked doors requiring different keys and frequent backtracking to find "the" correct path forward with the only exposed key.
Secret pathways also take some time to register and moving to the next screen when that happens results in permanently missing the exposed treasure.
Very tanky mobs and bosses that can one to two hit kill you in a second. Also violates proper game design, requiring long treks from last save point across the map back to the boss room.
Nice story, but gameplay is not fluid nor fun.
This game for me is a 5/10. Do i recommend it ? yes but don't expect to much .
Absolutely fantastic mini-metroidvania. Movement is fluid. Bosses are challenging, but not frustrating. The music is the perfect accompaniment to a dramatic, dark religious inquisition story. Every character commits to their role in the story 110%, and there's some great dialogue between them.
Read all the lore, the notes you find, everything. They add depth to the story and nuance to the moral questions at play.
I enjoyed mixing and matching the incense to refine my approach to combat. Same with the different equippable weapons, though in most cases they felt cosmetic (which was fine with me).
The game took me about 7 hours to complete, and that included finding all the lore pages, a great deal of the secrets, and the post-game content in the Library (the tower). This was fun enough that I'll likely NewGame+ this when I'm in the mood for a quick metroidvania again.
Some people complain about the map and the inability to fast travel. Personally, I had no issues with this. I like the minimalist map, and movement is fast enough that I was able to get where I wanted to go pretty quickly, even when backtracking. If there were any quality-of-life improvements I'd like to see, they'd be the ability to scroll the map to look at sections that are farther away from where you are, and maybe color-coded sections of the map indicating which screens belong to which major areas. But again, those would be QoL improvements, and the game was still a blast without them.
Two thumbs up. If you like little action platformers, then you'll enjoy this.
loved the atmosphere
One of my favourite metroidvanias, the character designs and enviroments are nice, lot's of enemies you have to attack from different directions and learn some patterns, not too complex but cool looking bosses, I love this game! My favourite part was finding all the different weapons and the jail scene.
I had some fun at times but would I recommend this game to someone? mmmmm I don't know...
It feels like one of those weird Kickstarter games where someone promised tons of stuff you usually see in successful games but no one knows how to make it work and the final result ends up so... bland?
The story is a waste of time, the combat is wonky, enemy designs are really uninteresting (including bosses), there are tons of items but most of them are pretty much pointless and the endgame is just weird.
It's not bad, but also not that good. It's a solid 5/10 I guess...
It's mid. It doesn't do anything particularly well but it doesn't massively mess up anything either.
The controls are fine, the combat is alright, the graphics are good, the OST if fine, the parry mechanic could've been done better, the story is honestly very subpar and the exploration is nice.
Overall, I recommend getting it if it's on sale.
Let me apologize in advance because this Review was kind of hard for me.
After playing all 3 Momodora Games that are available on Steam I had high hopes for this Game, since it is some kind of spiritual successor and after playing it it may even be in the same Universe as the Momodora Games .
But ultimately this Game really disappointed me. After playing the Game I read some Reviews and I am not alone with my opinon. Even though the Game sits at "Very Positive" it just isn't. And the more negative or mixed leaning reviews all have good points that I also agree with. So let's get into it.
The first thing you notice is a change in Artstyle, away from the Momodora Pixel Graphics more to an "animated/drawn" world and character design. At first you have to get used to this new "direction" and I personally liked the Pixel Graphics of the Momodora Games way more.
Also I can't put my finger on it, but it all looks kind of cheap. The Animations felt and looked clunky and the overall Artstyle also looked kind of cheap.
And thus the negative aspects of the Game start coming in.
It is not just the Artstyle.
After around 30-40 minutes I wanted the Game to be over and I can't say that for many "Metroidvania" Games.
The Combat: At first the combat also seemed cheap. Kind of weightless but ultimately serviceable. Barely. The Combat is just mindless. You just need to slash like a maniac, or dodge roll spam or even parry spam. There is no timing involved. To be fair, the Momodora Games were also kind of basic, but it felt more fun. Minoria strangely tries a soulsier approach and it just doesn't fit.
The enemy design is very uninspired and also enemy variety is really lacking here. The Bosses were also nothing to write home about, every boss fell after 1-2 tries, it was way too easy. Although some enemies really were cheap and could 1 or 2 hit you if you didn't pay attention.
While killing enemies you gain XP and the XP self-allocates your stats. You can find some more weapons but apart from a slightly different moveset, they all have the same base stats (except for one even worse weapon). There is just almost no variety at all.
Platforming: Oh boy this felt bad. Even the "double jump" and the air-dash felt bad.
Movement: Also bad! When you want to move faster, just spam dodge roll like a maniac...
Most of the time the character camera is way too zoomed in apart from a few sections.
The locations: Also uninspired, kind of boring looking and kind of samey. I have to say the atmosphere is at least good but that's mostly thanks to the music, even though I am pretty sure some of those tracks are on repeat for some areas. And the exploration is also no fun. There are only a few Lore Items to find, some "Incenses" (they are kind of passive and active abilities, but mostly you will probably never use them) and "Weapons" and some "Coins" to buy some more Incenses.
The level design didn't feel good, secrets were easy to find but overall it's just all really uninteresting and boring.
Regarding the Music, this is probably the best part of the Game, even though it is not even that special. It ranges from good to decent.
Sound Design: Also really bad. Subpar. I didn't like the sounds at all. The sound effects also sounded cheap.
Story: ZzzzZzzzZZzzzzZzzz...
What I also didn't like was that you don't keep your items/progress when/if you die, which sometimes resulted in longer ways to backtrack to where you were...
There are some Nods to the Momodora Games which I won't spoil here, that was kind of nice I guess.
Somehow - since almost everything felt cheap - you'd think that most of the budget went into the female "you know what" jiggling mechanics for one specific character.
I have to admit that it got better in the last 3rd of the Game but that doesn't mean good.
Overall I have to say, it is just a bad Game. I would even go so far and say this is one of the worst "Metroidvanias" I've ever played. Not THE worst, but it's up there.
It feels like there are almost no redeeming qualities here.
It certainly isn't the worst Game of all time but this also just isn't good. Plain and simple.
So my advice: Save your money or get it in a very deep sale.
And that hurts me to say because the dev(s) seem pretty cool, but yeah, it is, what it is... I give it a generous 4.5 out of 10.
P.S.: I didn't even want to do a second playthrough for the second ending, most of the time I like to do that. Missing 5 Achievements but backtracking through those boring areas again just to get a few more "Journal Entries" (think I am missing like 3-5) is just not worth it. Oh, and it's also really short (which in this case is really good).
Great art style! Very enjoyable game. Very taken by the art style. The soundtrack was quite great as well. Not too long, maybe 10ish hours to complete everything.
Art? Great. Soundtrack? Enthralling. Gameplay? Very fun. The experience isn't very long but really fun,
i love this game and anyone who says otherwise is wrong. extremely cozy gothic horror
