Описание

Seven Days With You: The Most Precious Memory in Our Lives (aka Seven Days) is an all-ages occult mystery visual novel where all the heroines are dead.

Synopsis

A couple of days before the summer holiday starts... Kanzaki Shuuichi receives a "cursed Blu-ray disc" from one of his friends.

Playing it at home, a female ghost emerges and possesses him. Sairenji Murasaki, Shuuichi’s childhood friend, expels the evil spirit with the exorcism skills taught by her father, who runs a time-honored Japanese Buddhist shrine. The ritual, however, is only partially successful, somehow behind leaving the physical human form of the female specter.

She identifies herself as Mikanagi Chiyako, seemingly the girl who was murdered in the video recorded on the Blu-ray disc, and tells Shuuichi and Murasaki about her situation.

"There are six other girls inside me."

Murasaki explains that a ghost is only allowed to exist for forty-nine days in this world, meaning the seven girls can each have seven days. Shuuichi then makes up his mind to assist all of them in spending their remaining days without any regrets and passing away in happiness.

Shuuichi, however, does not realize what will happen to him later. He does not realize that he will have to see each of the seven girls depart from him.

Guess I'm too old to give a f-u-c-k about what spoiled baby-girls feel.

Seven Days is a decent to good nakige, but it is let down a bit by some uneven writing. I'd still recommend it to anyone looking to read a visual novel with multiple cathartic releases, as it filled its job on the nakige side fairly well (I cried 6 times throughout which is uncommon for me).

The writing that starts off very strong through the first 3-4 chapters unfortunately starts to drop off as it goes on. It also gives in a bit - major spoilers - to the whole parallel universe / time travel tropes in order to create a truly "happy end". I personally dislike this as it tends to leave a bunch of questions, and I don't feel like it should've been in this story. I think this story would've been better served by completely ignoring the "mystery" aspect of it and instead focusing on the emotional moments. Those emotional moments were the strongest writing in the VN, whereas the "mystery" writing was subpar to the point where I'm not even sure it is much of a mystery.

Music was appropriate but minimal. Systems were straightforward and even include a bare bones TTRPG sim and some quick-time events which were appreciated.

Despite its issues, I still enjoyed my time with this visual novel, although I spent far less than seven days reading it. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a decent nakige that doesn't mind it missing H content and can overlook some of its weaknesses, as the emotional bits are pretty strong.

My fucking heart. My heart is in pieces. I...

This game was the first ever to make me genuinely cry for something in a game. I've never done that before.

Every chapter, every possibility I saw. Heart rended, shattered, fractured.

I want to see more from this story. I want to see everyone interact again.

And yet I can't. As much as I wish for it, their story is told. Everyone has their story told, everyone gets a conclusion that’s happy. Even if it took a while for one of them to get full closure.

This story both fulfilled me and left me empty. I want so much more. I want to see so much more. But, if they're happy, who am I to argue against that? I can live with it. LIFE0, if you guys somehow read this, keep it up. You guys have made peak fiction. I hope Dreamin' Her is eventually officially translated. I want to see what you guys have cooked up.

Seven Days is a visual novel that mixes in suspense and the paranormal with friendship and romance.

The protagonist is a male schoolboy who finds himself in the possession of a haunted disc, which eventually summons the spirits of a number of different schoolgirls - though only one of them, one named Chiyako, which can be described as the main spirit and the character central to this paranormal storyline, is human-like, the rest summoned in normally inanimate objects such as a teddy bear. The different spirits take turns spending 7 days in Chiako's body, before disappearing away, hence the name of the novel.

The paranormal elements of the story mixes in all sorts of elements and plot lines of different Japanese horror stories, particularly from Ringu/The Ring, with a couple of scare jumps along the way, and a very dark back story, which, albeit the rather cute artwork of the novel, is not surprising once the background of the spirits is known.

The bulk of the story is spent with the protagonist spending his days with the spirits, in a more upbeat, lighthearted, and comedic day to day narrative, with the different characters trying to make the most of their time together before the spirits one by one disappear. Though no single element of the story is exactly unique on its own, the whole story put together is.

The main story is streamlined, though there are multiple choices along the way, that may lead to either a normal friendship, or a romantic outcome to - most of - each one of the individual spirits, or to one of the many quick available bad endings available throughout. There are also a number of quick action events along the way. It has great character development, though that is not even in that some characters do not get the romantic endings, and a few of the character storylines are rushed in comparison with others - including Chiyako's arcs too.

One negative point of note is that the final chapter of the story can be confusing and hard to obtain without knowing the trigger. Compounding this confusion is the mention of another chapter ingame, supposedly to be added at a later moment, though nothing has been yet released yet.

The artwork, as mentioned, is very cute-like, and is drawn very well. There are a good number of CGs, including a number of more suggestive ones for fan service purposes. It suits the light hearted day to day moments well, though drawings of darker overtones for the scarier, sadder, and/or serious part, would have been appreciated as well.

I feel there the variety of individual character expressions is on the lower side, and sprites are not animated. The different spirits occupying Chiako's bodies during the seven days each have different colors, attire and personalities, though physically, they are the same, which does compound the lack of sprite variety of movement mentioned above.

Music is of decent quality, with just enough tracks to fit in all different story parts. It is not something to come back though, and in any event there is no BGM selection to allow one to listen to the different tracks available, unfortunately. The voice acting is of ok quality, though like the music, is not 100% either.

Overall, Seven Days is a solid and refreshing story well put together. It is not perfect in its execution, and the price may be a tad high for what it offers, but nevertheless I enjoyed it quite a bit. 8/10

This game is an absolute masterpiece. I loved every bit of it. Mari's week was the biggest highlight for me though. If you're a fan of Clannad, Rewrite and Steins;Gate then give this a chance. I'll be seeing what else this company has developed for certain.
