At the end of the day though, it’s your skills as a player that matter most! Dodge, dash, hack, slash, and unleash fury on your foes!
From the very first level, Liberty Prime evokes a sensation of almightiness and provides powerful area-of-effect skills right from the start, making "Level Up" a truly thrilling and satisfying experience for players of all levels. Soon, co-op will be added, and players will be able to combine spells to create chain reactions, in order to overcome greater challenges.
You’re a former captain of a mercenary band forced to liberate 13 nations of the Drotus Empire in order to regain the lost "Glory". Your path will lead you on an epic and unexpected adventure with your companion, as you wander in this shattered world. Join the dark journey and experience overwhelming enemy encounters, diabolical hazards, and the unrelenting challenges.

Oh jeez.
Game had potential. Yeah I know I dont have a lot of hours logged mainly because it was too buggy to play at the time and the mechanics were so basic. The is practically abandoned now and the gameplay is quite basic and controls were janky.
I kept following with gameplay videos on its progression or lack there of.
Even after reading the reviews I thought it couldn't be that bad, well, it is.
You die in a couple hits then respawn and lose your exp if you actually killed something.
The tutorial is just an absolute joke.
Controls are horrific.
The game crashes constantly (not really a bad thing since...who even wants to play it?)
At .99 cents, I requested a refund.
This game looks promising but the deal with it crashing on a little bit of a higher end pc with 6 cores and a 1650 video card and 32gb ram. If you want more details on issues with this game, just read other reviews and they will sum it up without having me say the same thing..
Save your money and buy a cheeseburger, at least its healthier for you than this game.
If I did not get this as part of a bundle I would of hit the refund, but unfortunately I am stuck with this.
This game looks nice at first glance but actually is a collection of bugs and incompleteness.
- Game is trying to run in window at 1st time. In my computer this is black screen at startup and Google doesn't find any solution. I got to edit game config file in %APPDATA% to make the menu appear.
- After the 1st fix, mouse pointer becomes locked. I got to Alt-Tab forth & back to see updated mouse position. Setting game to run in full-screen (need Alt-Tab repeatedly) is the only way that fixes this.
- Some contract maps got fewer demon lords than how many it said to have. This causes the map to be unable to complete.
- Game control is really bad. Special key most of the times fails. All melee attacks fail at very close range which always happens because most enemies charge at you and make you fumble.
- Story line is unavailable, plus game play is completely pointless.
- To make it the worst, this game doesn't get any update in 2 years so far despite the unavailability of the end game.
- This game is based on UE4 engine but the game's footage isn't there at engine standard.
A game with great potential but just not there yet.
Pros-
1. Hack and Slash game play
2. Relatively nice graphics
3. Nice environmental feel
Cons-
1. Controls feel unwieldy. Feels like it was intended more for console than keyboard.
(so if your only a mouse and keyboard person I advise caution.)
2. Movement of the screen. I can work a directional mouse but the game field should remain static and instead it rubbers back and forth in every direction of the mouse and just screws with my eyes and brain. Even moving the mouse around while in the settings screen causes the background to move all over the place. Uhhhgg. (please make it stop!)
3. No zoom. I'm so close to my character the I feel I need to at least zoom out a little. This is more preference so for me it's a con but maybe not for you. It just feels like the perspective is way to close.
4. Music. I have NEVER complained about soundtrack in all my years of gaming but the same few bars of music on a permanent loop is enough to drive me mad. Even with SFX turned all the way down you can still barely hear the same bars being played over and over and over in the back ground.
5. Poor layout. Every game uses the same basic guidelines (albeit different keys) to access and equip items but here that's not the case. No character screen. I can't tell if an item is actually equipped. EVERYTHING is just confusing. Less than 13 min into the game and I'm looking up tutorials and help. Strike, heavy strike, shift strike, shift heavy strike? What is this nonsense? It just feels wrong... off... not smooth. Maybe this would work with console but it just doesn't feel natural.
Note - it could be mentioned that "hey, it's only $9.99 but I have other games for that price that flow much more smoothly. However that is not even really the issue here. Progress? I haven't seen any so I don't know if the game is abandonware. That's not even the issue here. The issue is that this game is a great idea, looks good and even more shows a lot of potential but the devs give the impression (through the game) that they have very little grasp as to the basics of what makes a game flow smoothly at even the most fundamental level. Controls, settings, movement and inventory. These things need to flow easily so your not struggling from the start of the game.
My recommendation to the devs is to look at Torchlight since they're are actually similar layouts and follow that pattern.
Guys, you've got great potential here. Turn this bus around :) You could be the next Torchlight or Grim Dawn. I hope to
one day be able to recommend this game but for those that want to buy, go in with very little expectation.
I bought this game on sale for 79p and that is the only reason why I'm not refunding it. This is one of the most frustrating games I've played in a long time, this team drastically needs a game designer on staff.
Nothing is explained, aesthetic, music and SFX don't match setting. UI gets in the way of gameplay. Level design needs to work with game flow to make a good experience. At the moment it is just annoying to play, not fun.
This game is very basic and doesnt explain much but i got it on sale for a dollar and at that price it was fun for a day or 2. not bad just very bare bones
I am not sure of what I have just bought? The controls aren't like any other isometric hack and slash. Feels awful to play with keyboard and mouse. Seems like it was designed to be played with a controller but they forgot to add support for controllers. With the kind of unplayable control it has, it isn't even worth buying in a sale to be honest.
Honestly, I feel like this game was rushed and just not worked on enough. The enemies and environment look great but the gameplay is just terrible. Mechanics are so awkward that it's annoying to play. There is little to no balance in terms of combat and nearly everything at the start of the game can one shot you. No animation cancelling gets annoying when enemies can put out three attacks before you get two off. All in all, I feel like the game would be fun if it was worked on more. Mechanics need to be looked into more than anything. A game can look pretty but play like shit.
Thought I would give this game a chance since all the reviews I could see was marked as Early Access.
I paid 0.5 USD and it was too much. This cannot even be called a game, more like a proof of concept.
No story. Bindings dont reflect (shows the default no matter what). This is no more than an empty shell.
This dev are going under my "Never buy games from" list.
First impresions of Liberty Prime seems mixed as is. (after initial difficulty spike).
Like the flashy elements used by the monsters and the player.
Do not like the seemingly random difficulty spikes and the clunky control scheme.
Consistently feeling like you have no idea who, what, where, or why you are playing a game makes for a frustrating time. If a horde of enemies are swarming you , dodge rolling away is not an option and the terrain is against you as small barrels and fixtures act like goalies keeping you from safety to catch your breath and go back into the fight. Extremely frustrating controls and camera movement and the lack of story is the cherry on top. Cant recommend but i hope when this gets its official release that this is just 5% of the game and that much much MUCH more is to come to fix this. On the bright side ( yes there is one ) the game looks incredible and was cool checking out the creatures and enemies.
Unfortunately I cannot recommend this game in its current state, my copy crashed at first start several times and after I managed to get into the game, the I guess character menu would not close, limiting my visibility, causing death. My mouse icon wouldn't even go to the edge of the screen making me unable to change settings. The gameplay footage looked really good, definitely dissapointed with this one, hopefully they can get the issues worked out.
I appreciate that this game can be challenging at times, but that's about all it has to offer in its current state, so I can't recommend it.
Here are a few of my main complaints:
- Level design. None of it makes any sense. It feels like the developers just laid out paths using those jointed train track shapes that toddlers play with. No rhyme or reason.
- Enemies. While I like the variety, it doesn't stick to any sort of pattern which would reasonably compel the player to choose individual strategies. If the level design(see above) were set up in a way that could actually facilitate some sort of sensible order to enemy types, then players would feel less overwhelmed by the prospect of switching out weapons and bonuses as the situation dictates.
- Weapons. I think simple damage type is a really lazy approach to weapon variation. The combat grows stale really fast without having the option to switch out skills. I really would have liked to see different skill sets along with the different damage types. This would, again, be more of a motivator to swap out play styles as long as the above two points are in order as well.
[*]Music. This is more of a personal preference, but I find the music really jarring. It doesn't fit the atmosphere of the game at all. Or perhaps the atmosphere of the game has missed the mark for what the developers were going for when they chose the music.
Overall I think what's missing from this game is an understanding of the basic psychology behind what makes games enjoyable. This game misses the mark on its work/reward balance, because the reward of combat doesn't really evolve in any truly engaging way and levels lack the spacial groundwork for such an evolution to piggyback off of. If the devs happen to read this review, take notes from games like exanima or hammerwatch. Both are challenging and have very maze-like levels, yet things are placed very intentionally in a way which, not only makes sense, but also motivates exploration while offering a good distribution of reward for your efforts.
Edit: I forgot to add that the name really needs to be changed. Googling "Liberty Prime" brings up nothing but Fallout related links.
The base game is fun (kinda for about 5 minutes until you realize the disorganized encounters and 4 moves are all you will be doing outside of walking), and has an ok pricepoint (I originally recommended in good faith thinking they at least had to implement some form of structure or systems to the game and the graphics were decent) but this is an empty clunky repetitive game with somewhat nice graphics being the only positive I can think of. I do hope that the developer takes time to iron out some of these issues though (clearly this never occurred...).
Honestly I am far too forgiving but really this game isn't great. Especially seeing that it has now been fully released and still just contains the same 3 or 4 combat moves and the switching between elements which only has an effect on the property of your attack. There is no "loot" that I'm aware. Certainly no weapons or armor or skills. Just items that give you little buffs. The projectile slash and the spin move along with the dodge roll all featured liberally in the trailer are for a reason as that is pretty much all you are getting in terms of the combat. I have never not recommended a game but I will have to change my opinion in this case.
This game should not be out for early release. It's more or less a demo of the combat system. You get a character with limited customization and he roams a map fighting procedurally generated monsters. There's no story and very limited character development. I spent maybe a couple hours on it and I was good. The one thing I would say is don't be fooled by the video in the store. The gameplay is literally what you see in that video. That character, with those three moves. You won't get more than that currently.
With that said the overall design is pretty nice looking. It's got nice enviroments and the monsters you fight are diverse and interesting. Combat was a little clunky and controls were not optimal. It really needs controller support. I'd like to see this where they go with it. It has potential. Down the road as they finish more I'd be willing to switch it over to recommended.
*update* game is 100% dead, dont buy it, doubt the devs will ever update it, its been years and still nothing, last time it was updated was October 2018
looks beautiful but seems lacking in alot of area's, yes i know its early acces and it just literally came out last month but with the animation and models ( assuming they're custom made ) and effects this game really could have something different then hunt demon lords and there menions :/ i mean yes its about killing things but i think the story is lacking completley unless they're working on something for a story because if they plan on making a game based strictly on lvl'ing and hunting monsters with no dialog nor any characters other then this half dead guy that sells items :/ then this game will deffenitly not be worth playing at all but if they do I'd love to see it because killing shit and having this base set armor is kinda borring and no different weapons and speaking of which does anyone know how to change the hotbar skills the tutorial is non existent and the starting moves suck when you're tapped in a cornor and i havent seen anything on different weapons or armor or even different moves just passive skills that only really boost dmg ect from what ive seen
Graphics 8/10 love everything execpt this weird motion blur in the background it just makes it hard to focus :/
Menu 3/10 honestly its horrible its deffenitly not user friendly and takes more time then neccecary to equip or swap skills and when going to the half dead guy it looks exactly like the main menu which confused the shit out'a me at first
story 0/10 atm there isnt a story
Monsters 6/10 there are alot of monster and they have very smooth animations and look amazing but once they see you they will follow you till you kill them or find a spire thing and respawn the enemies and not to mention they ABSOLUTLEY LOVE TRAPPING YOU IN CORNORS i cant tell you how many times i died from a mob of enemies that trapped me in a cornor and i couldnt attack or move from only playing an hour :/ and they love interrupting your attacks i mean it makes sense but they do it so often and they're always following you theres no way to even use it without being stopped mid animation and then getting surrounded in a cornor and there attacks seem very basic mostly that they have only 1 or 2 and they absolutley love getting up close and personal and its annoying :/
Map 5/10 hmm it looks amazing but the layout isnt very good i mean its great for early access but its very blan at times and seems repetitive and theres no mini map or a world map so if your lost then GG
character 5/10 hmm the character looks good and has some interesting skill but nothing that makes this game special just normal skill that are usaully in other games like poison immunity and dmg buffs wich are usefull but i was hoping for something like maybe a pet summon or a aeo attack like a metoer strike or acid rain or even spawn a golem or have a skill that makes a ora around the character damagining anything for that skills element type nothing drastic but every little dmg helps ( honestly i really just want pets or some minions, love stuff like that XD ) and not to mention after an hour of playing still havent figured out how to swap attacks from the hotbar from the screenshots and there isnt any weapons or armor types just the base wich looks cool but is only for effects i guess its useless, maybe they'll add armor and weapons later and if they do awesome but atm there isnt anything to customize your character from looking like everyone else other than your weapons element type
and all of this was just from an hour playing and 1 crash so if i got something wrong then i appoligize but thats just what i got off of no videos about the game nor any info other than the trailer and pics, and does anyone know if they'll every post a roadmap I'd love to see what features they plan on adding later down the line thats what'll make or break this game for me
basicly dont buy till later or until a review comes out on youtube but gl becasue the name is the exact same as a mod for fallout wich has a tone of vids :/
Curently I do not recommend the game. But I do suggest to add it to your wishlist and keep an eye out for updates or grab it when there's a promotion.
The concept of the game has potential, but currently in Early Access there is lots of things wrong with the game. In this state the game is nearly unplayable due to balance and game design issues.
Positive:
- Dark souls-like ARPG
- The game becomes pretty fun after you get through the initial first hour of playing without rage-quitting
- Cool boss-like monsters with cool abilities
- Punishing death penalty (what it should be in a DS-like ARPG)
- Cool cards that give you stats and stat penalty's
- Graphics are okay
Negative:
- Some small bugs (not game breaking bugs though, not a big deal, especially in EA)
- Way to hard when starting out
- Get easier the longer you play (it should be the other way around)
- Balance between Card items and Leveling up is bad. You have a choice to either level up or unlock card slots but unlocking card slots is the obvious way to go since it's 10x more effective than leveling up
- No cooldown on potions
- Too few potions available to reach the next shrine
- Terrible balance in mobs' difficulty, very unstable damage spikes, 2 monster types are nearly unbeatable
- You hit a wall in difficulty when starting the game
- Asset flip game (I have no problem with this tbh, since the concept of the game is good and there's not a lot of bugs)
- price is too high for what it is in this stage
Not recommended at this moment, but like I said, definitely keep an eye out for future patches!
I will rewrite my review as new patches come out!
Yes, I know it is EA, but holy smokes. I made a better game with the map editor on RPG World than this. I cannot recommend this at all. Save your money.
You start off facing mobs 3-10 times your level three feet from the spawn. It is just a random monster spawn every five feet. It feels like you are fighting boss mobs, and there are no trash mobs like Diablo 3, Grim Dawn, PoE, etc.
The movement is just wonky. Your character doesn't auto face your movement. You can be going forward, but your character is walking backwards, or sideways. It is just bad, bad, bad.
You loot items, and you click on Equip, but there is not a character sheet so you have no idea if you are really equipping it.
It really feels like someone made this in one night while drinking excessively, and said "Oh why don't I put this on Steam EA?"
Update: 2/17/19 Game hasn't really been updated by the dev at all, still stands in largely same condition as when it was first released in early access. Wouldn't recommend anyone picking up this game that could have been good but was sadly left alone in early access.
The core concept of the game is good, however on the first day of its release into early access it is very buggy. I never fault a game for being buggy in early access though.
This game is an action rpg meets Dark souls it feels like. Getting past the first area is no joke and is going to require a mastery of skill and a bit of luck on the pulls I feel. Death is a part of the game and you loose your "glory" but it can be regained much like it can be Dark Souls. I'll be playing it more as it gets patched and updated, but it is definitely and ARPG I am looking forward to seeing get further develoepd.
Thought it looks good for a Diablo 3 alternative.
Looks horrible ingame even for Early Access.
The movement and attack animations aren't good because even if you point at the enemy it can hit the air.
There isn't rly a base just a spawn where you start the game and buy items and upgrade. 3 seconds of walking are enemy NPC away which follow you into the "Shop/Upgrade" area and kills you. You can't fast exit with ESC and for last if you press ESC in the main menu you see the gaming HUD of the game.
It looks like a very early alpha which isn't rly fun to play.
If you still are interested don't buy it now or you will be dissapointed. Check the Updates and follow it until it seems fun to play.
