long ago far away centries before our day humans lived monsters roamed they shared the earth and sky as home but this peace came un done war was raged and the humans one!
this game is wonderfully made and i enjoy it so so much
Was kind of expecting the ending but still upsetting. I appreciate the hidden message of the game and it was very entertaining too
So sad...
I love everything about the game.
One of my favorite games for impact. <3
You should play it if you are looking for a cute short story game.
100% recommend
Very nice simple game. The idea stems from the ecological impact we make. A pleasing artstyle shows the beauty of nature before human invasion in contrast with the mess after. The whole area changes dramatically with each day you manage to survive. The things that happen in some human-made locations are kinda brutal (poor chicks).
Everything works good and in sync with other parts, technically it's a very solid product. I only found the gameplay a bit too simple and some days lacking on events, the game could be a little shorter. And I had 2 bugs where a little bro couldn't move through some intersections, not a big deal.
This game is amazing. It shows how badly we are affecting the environment, it shows the cruelty of life, and best of all, you get to be a fox! go pet those pups, teach them to climb and hunt, and save your little one!
Endling is more than just a game—it’s an emotional and transformative experience that crawls under your skin and stays there. It altered my brain chemistry in a way few pieces of media ever have, reshaping how I see the world and my role within it.
From the moment I entered its desolate yet hauntingly beautiful world, I was captivated. The visual design is stunning, blending vibrant colors with somber tones to create an atmosphere that is simultaneously breathtaking and heartbreaking. Every frame feels like a painting, dripping with meaning and emotion.
The story hit me like a freight train. It’s not just about survival; it’s about loss, resilience, and the crushing weight of inevitability. The game places you in the shoes of an animal fighting for its family and future in a world that feels too real—a mirror of our own, filled with human destruction. It’s not just a narrative; it’s a cry for help, a wake-up call that lingers long after you put the controller down.
The mechanics are deceptively simple yet deeply impactful. Each choice you make feels significant, each misstep haunting. The gameplay forces you to confront the fragility of life and the consequences of human negligence. The developers have crafted a delicate balance of challenge and storytelling that never lets you feel truly comfortable—a constant reminder of what’s at stake.
But the characters—oh, the characters. Despite the lack of dialogue, the emotional connection is overwhelming. The bond you develop with the protagonist and their young is profound, almost primal. I found myself fully immersed, feeling their fear, hope, and despair as though it were my own. By the time the credits rolled, I felt gutted and yet strangely whole, as though I had witnessed something deeply personal and universal all at once.
Endlings didn’t just change the way I think about games—it changed the way I think about the environment, animals, and the fragile beauty of life. It’s not just a game; it’s a plea, a piece of art that demands you to feel, to act, and to care.
If you’re looking for something that will linger in your mind, break your heart, and rebuild it in the same breath, Endlings is it. Play it, but be prepared: you won’t be the same person when it’s over.
This is an amazing game. It really touches the heart and if gives a good message. The whole time I was playing I was moved with how much work went into the making of this game. Even the smallest details had a big role. I recommend this to players who like story games that are unique and send important morals.

This game was very touching and I recommend it to anyone with an open heart and an open mind.
An incredibly powerful story that hits harder than I anticipated for sure.
This game is unlike most games I play. It's relatively simple and easy, and it holds your hand through most of the game. That isn't to say these are bad aspects of this experience, it's just that this game is suited to be as widely accessible as possible. No, it's not a bad thing, and I --- someone who generally finds hand-holding to be a turn off --- barely even noticed it, as I was too immersed in the beautiful world and story.
I will not be saying a word in regard to the story, as it's one you truly must experience yourself in order to get the utter heartbreak, grief, and sorrow you're practically guaranteed to feel. The world, however, is simply stunning. From the lush forest areas that you slowly see the life sucked out of by the remaining human population, to the humanity-ridden wasteland with friendly songs being sung, I couldn't look away from the beauty found in this desolate, lonely world.
I will remind you that this is a very easy game, and it's easily beatable in under five hours --- I did it in under four --- but the moral behind the game and the breathtaking story, characters, and environments make this up there in my top ten. This game is for everyone from the raging community of Dark Souls, to the Animal Crossing lovers, it's simply a must-play.
(That being said, I understand $30 may be a bit much for an under 5-hour experience. After playing for myself, however, I would gladly pay double to get to relive my short time with this game. If I can't convince you, the game goes on sale quite often. It doesn't matter when, just play the damn game.)
This game is great, its such a cute game but im crying. The game tells a great story and touched my heart with its style and story telling. I love this game and i will cry to the ending
This is such a Great Narrative Game, Ended up crying towards the end. Please play this and bring a box of tissues.
Short but sweet, but moving nonetheless. Somewhat reminded me of Shelter.
A Heart-Wrenching Masterpiece of Survival and Storytelling
Endling: Extinction is Forever is a breathtakingly beautiful and emotionally powerful game that tells a story of survival, love, and loss like no other. From the moment you step into the paws of a mother fox struggling to protect her cubs in a devastated world, you’ll find yourself completely immersed in this haunting yet hopeful journey.
The art style is absolutely stunning, with a hand-drawn aesthetic that perfectly captures the fragile beauty of a dying world. Each environment tells a story, from polluted forests to burning landscapes, immersing you in the harsh reality of a planet on the brink of collapse. The subtle yet impactful soundtrack amplifies the emotional weight of every moment, making this game as much a sensory experience as it is a narrative one.
What truly sets Endling apart is the emotional connection it fosters. Watching your cubs grow and develop unique personalities as you struggle to feed and protect them creates a bond that few games can replicate. Every decision you make—whether it’s choosing a path, avoiding predators, or sacrificing resources—feels deeply meaningful, and the stakes are always high.
The survival mechanics strike a perfect balance between challenge and accessibility. Hunting for food, evading predators, and navigating environmental dangers are all intuitive and engaging, while the game’s pacing ensures that tension remains high throughout. Each night presents new dangers and choices, keeping the gameplay fresh and compelling.
The story, though simple, is profoundly impactful. With minimal dialogue, Endling conveys a message about the fragility of nature and the consequences of human actions. It’s a deeply moving experience that will stay with you long after the credits roll, as it challenges you to reflect on the world we live in and what we stand to lose.
While the game is relatively short, its concise runtime ensures every moment is impactful. There’s no filler—just a tightly woven narrative that keeps you engaged from start to finish. The replay value is also high, as different choices lead to new outcomes and discoveries.
Endling: Extinction is Forever is a game that goes beyond mere entertainment; it’s an emotional journey that reminds us of the importance of protecting what we love. If you’re looking for a unique and moving experience, this game is an absolute must-play.
The visual design is amazing and idea is great.
However, there is absolutely no fun. All challenges like enemies and night time - just annoying.
And the game is VERY short.
Nature was always going to outlive us. No matter what we do, our greatest achievements will be taken over by the natural world we once came from. I can only hope that we don't take too much with us in our own extinction. I hope that we leave behind more than we destroy.
Endling shows the collateral damage of the ultimate trophic cascade. Humanity spread faster than the rest of the ecosystem could keep up, and just like a prey species that has a population boom, devoured resources faster than the rest of nature could adjust. When a species dies, everything around it is affected in some way. When a species is so widespread it can affect the entire world, how much damage will be done when it wipes itself out? How long will it take for nature to repair itself in the wake of such a disaster?
Incredibly sad and emotionally compelling. The environmental storytelling is perfect, telling a detailed story and setting an atmosphere of despair and impending doom without any dialogue. Easy 9/10, with only a small amount taken off for the relatively simplistic gameplay (a trivial issue, since the plot is the main point).
Not me crying by the end of the gameplay.... i loved this game
You can customize the cubs' color at the start. Getting every ability was a bit tricky, i didn't get the "dangle" one the first time i played it. There's two endings, they're not very different though, the first is with the badger being present and in the other it's not, which one you get depends on the choices you make.
Every step taken in this game is a step towards your survival or your demise! Time management is crucial so decisions must be made quickly and every second of the night used wisely. The map is not huge but the time-mechanics will make it feel larger than it really is (this is not a negative point, I would add). The nights are short so that you develop a "sense of urgency" as quick as possible because there are few hints as to which path will lead to: surviving for another night. You will need to think strategically and pay specific attention to what is happening around you at all times, so be a gamer and not let yourself be discouraged by your failures (and there will be failures) instead, endure the failures and learn from them. Deny the urges to do a search for "how to's" and discover the beauty of this game for yourself. It is definitely not impossible to get all your pups through to the end so find a way!
In summary, if you are a person who cares about the environment and all it holds, this is a "must-play", a "can't miss" game. I got this game on sale but would have gladly paid full price. If you are not into, story driven games and don't really care about nature, well, this probably is not for you.
Side Note: Thank you so much for the "glitch-free" game. I did see one review that said this game had a glitch during the final sequence where, you could not dig under a fallen tree. I actually experienced the same "glitch" until I realized it was user error. I was not doing what was needed to progress so just make sure you are paying close attention to your environment. This game never crashed or froze, not one time and my system is an aged system.
Thanks again and please develop more titles in this genre.
A very unique beautifully crafted game with a great soundtrack, fun gameplay and a very sad ending.
Endling: Extinction is Forever tells the tale of a fox struggling for survival in a hostile environment.
Polluted rivers with endless amounts of trash, forests chopped flat to the ground, giving way to a barren wasteland where nothing can grow. It gave me insight on the pollution that humanity has brought.
At first, when I saw trash labeled as a food source, I vowed not to eat its morsels. But as I scavenged for little food in the wild, my first kit starved to death. Oh so it is as nature intended I thought.
But when my second kit started starving, I became desperate, to look for trash to feed them anything. But due to inexperience, I couldn't find any leftovers. I slowly saw my struggling kit die in front of my hopeless eyes.
Now the question is: Is endling worth its full price? In my opinion, no. But it is definitely worth its heavily discounted price at RM12.75 for me.
first game ending to make me cry. great game. would recommend to get on sale bc not a ton of replayability
I went into this game knowing absolutely nothing about it and it lead to a really incredible experience for me. I highly recommend jumping in while knowing as little as possible :)
The non-fixed angle camera gives the game a kind of depth & immersion I’ve not experienced in other side scrollers. The mechanics/gameplay was really fun and engaging. The storytelling was wonderful.
A relatively short game to complete, but most definitely full of emotion.
I found myself buying this game on sale after having it on my wishlist for a few months, and wasn't disappointed. The game environments look stunning, the animation satisfying, and the music enhancing the player's experience. I was able to take care of the fox kits in my care, and believed that all the enemy encounters in the game were fair (that being said, I despised the Furrier the first couple times I encountered him). I did face a few bugs when I played through this game, though nothing that hampered my progress by more than a few minutes.
And the ending, wow. To say I was shocked is an understatement, though I won't provide any spoilers. This game is best run by going through it blind, and is easy enough to run through again for any missing achievements. My first run through took about 5 hours and that was with a bit of exploration, so it's easily a game you can get done in one sitting.
Would I have bought this game at $29.99, most likely not. But for a under $15 or $10 dollars (I got this one for $5), I'd say it's easily worth your time if you want a short and bittersweet story that won't provide too much of a challenge to get through!
This is one of the best and most emotional games I've ever played. The entire game is heart-breaking from losing a cub to the story of the humans. I'm not an emotional person and the ending made me cry. I love how the environment changes overtime and the simplicity of moving around it . The game is relatively short only being around 4 hours so its good for people who don't like games that drag on. Over all I highly recommend this game (unless you don't want to cry).
Probably the most realistic, future, yet perspective of a fox Ive ever played. I would gift this to all my friends, if I could. I even cried at some parts, wont spoil but I suggest you try it yourself!
This game was so awesome, I streamed this and everyone watching went through so many emotions. The artwork and music is amazing and I loved the simple gameplay. Definitely recommend picking this up.
One of the best games in the genre, along with Limbo, INSIDE, FAR:Lone Sails and alike. But despite being a "platformer", it's not that strongly linear like those games. It has quite an open world and a lot of freedom. And sadness... a lot of sadness... 10/10
At least in my eyes it's a new classic.
Love this game. Love the soundtrack, the story, the art, the animation, even the game mechanics. Everything is incredible. It was a little stressful at first, trying to keep the cubs alive, avoiding humans, and trying to find the missing cub all at once, but it really helps capture the stress of staying alive and keeping those that depend on you alive, and it got easier as the cubs grew.
(Also, not to brag or anything but I finished with all four cubs my first playthrough >:D)
Great, short, game that hits hard without any dialogue. The environmental storytelling is fantastic with an ending that really sticks
Shows how impactful our decisions as humans are in the world in any aspect. Be kind and humble🦊🦊
Beautiful but terribly sad game. Does an amazing job at highlighting the effects climate change has on not just wildlife and the environment, but also every person on earth, even the ones directly contributing to the destruction. Its immersive, the art style is gorgeous, and its a real heart-wrencher. Absolutely worth your time. It fulfils its purpose and then some.
Great indie survival-adventure game with a moving story.
while the gameplay tends to be very repetitive and the exploration isnt that great, the story and visuals make up for it. at the end of the day, its a very heartwarming story, and if you like more relaxed and laid back games youll probably like it. just dont expect any crazy gameplay or anything like that
I loved it, it's a little precious, I think it deserves a award, great story line, relax, but sadly a bit too short.
So, I played this game fully to the end before writing this. I have overall enjoyed the experience. Though i would like if you could either customize the starting fox, OR after youve played through play as one of the cubs. And i think a naming system for the main fox and cubs would be appriciated. Otherwise i find everything quite pleasing the graphics were outstanding, and the storyline gripping. I belive this game to be quite proactive and the message it sends very agreeable. Best regards, -Goosey
A work of art, I love it when games and movies have story that are solemn yet inspiring over the Hollywood "Almost Everyone is happy and nothing too bad nor serious happens :DDDDDDDDDDDD"
Masterclass in environmental storytelling. Visual style was solid all the way through except for the purple story elements, I could never really tell what I was looking at so I kind of stopped trying to follow or care about the story halfway through, but i still wanted to explore and finish the game. I think the characters you interact with are all very unique and beautifully fully formed, even the furrier I had sympathy for. All of the animation is fantastic, and the developers did a great job with forced perspective to make you feel like an animal. I think the background theme that nuclear = bad is a little naive, considering how it's really statistically one of the safest forms of energy production of all time.
A cute little game with beautiful visuals and a emotional story. Highly recommend 10/10
Story driven, straightforward, short and sweet. Controls are easy, and there's a lot of extra story telling that happens in the background as well - if you're paying attention.
I got the game on special, which I'm glad I did. For all it's merits, I finished it in a little under 3 hours, so the full price tag is a tad much compared to what else is on the market.
A cute little game with beautiful visuals and a sad story. Highly recommended
This Experience reinforces what i do, what i care about and why i do it: i don't mind what your personal takeaway is after you play this, my initial impressions was that it was going to be way to artsy and a bit full of itself but just play it and come to your own conclusions.
As an experienced variety gamer and 100% gamer, i have only cried over a few experiences and i cannot recall a game i couldn't stop crying: if you value life, the world that develops around us or the environment you live and share with other people: this game could break you emotionally, but also reignite that drive to keep aspiring you to make the world a better place... If you don't value any of those crucial ideas, please still give this experience a go and see if your outlook on those previously stated values change at all.
As far as any of my reviews go this is the statement i defend the most: "give it a go." I wasn't fond of the movement or inherent pace at first but stay with it, its 3 hours of your time and worth every moment of that.
10/10

And the many other phenomenal people that worked on this project one way or another to keep my drive going, and thank-you to the reader of this review, i appreciate it.
A great tale of survival, overcoming difficulties, and mankind's foolishness and shortsightedness.
The gameplay loop is surprisingly engaging, the art style is amazing.
But it is very short, and you should only play this if you are willing to emotionally suffer. Consider yourself warned.
This is one of the greatest games I ever played. An emotional ending but love the story/ gameplay/ graphics and music too. Good job. Well done team!!
This game is heartbreaking (I cried like a baby) but I recommend you play it. It deals with serious issues we face such as deforestation and the impact of human impact on our wildlife. Save the planet!
Graphics are very appealing, and the way you move around the map is very interesting and original. But that's about where my compliments end. The game is too short, with too little happening. A single play through is a few hours, and you've already seen everything the game has to offer about half way through that. Look through everybody's reviews and you'll see that most have played for less than 5 hours. I'm not sure how you can ask $30 for not even 5 hrs of game play.
I bought this game because the ratings were so high, but I now see that everyone gave it a thumbs up because foxes are cute, because there are some sad moments (clumsily delivered), and because you're constantly hit over the head with a shallow attempt at an environmentalist message. I won't give spoilers, but I thought the ending was cheap and stupid.
Wonderful game
Rated very sad/10
A deeply moving and emotional game. Sweet and sad at the same time.
The devs are EVIL for making this so sad .w.
