The Adventures of Mr. Fluffykins is almost a passable 3D platformer collectathon, in many respects. But unfortunately, the save system is royally goofed. It resets your progress, unbinds your controls, and that's probably all it does, but it sounds really bad to me writing this now. So I don't think it's fair to recommend it, even if I keep playing out of my own personal enjoyment.
door stuck! door stuck!
The Adventures of Mr. Fluffykins is a one of a kind extremely inspiring, insightful, and motivational tribute to the 3D platformers with an explorer attempt of clashing into a goldbiting cat flipping the nocturnal switches off and on!!!
The music is really hand-layered good and very surprised with a constrict of simple danceable tunes that are tasty to listen to as u collect those delicious recipes that make your mouth water into bundling shelves of greatness!!!
The control needs a little work in repairment adjustments but its very satisfying to a slobber of effects!
The jumping is very flat in unused methods and sometimes the enemies can be rugged into shards of annoyances! But thats just one negative complaint really no big deal at all!!!
Accept one more negative assumption of the gratitude meter! The saving feature doesnt work half of the time and it can be very frustrating when u dont want to start over again with those pesky ants shooting raging pellets at you!!!
The worlds are nice nothing ground-breaking but it does get the game into a satisfying documenting pleasure hometown trip of another 3D dimension to look forward too!!!
Sound effects are a root of awakening and its nice to hear funny slurs and dialogue into shapes and realigned patterns!
But thats basically what sums this game into a peak of misconception performance!
Nothing else u do even if you die u start from the last visualize checkpoint so its a game where u just explore and collect the hundreds of stroll-like recipes and thats basically it!
I recommend this game its a pretty big landscape filled with 4 or 5 locations and its worth the money for all the content u get if your just exploring the huge vast world and i say the developers are right on the price tag and its worth a trip to a memory land if you remember how 3D platformers go!
I give this game a 9.5/10 well i gotta hurl a mouthwad ball and say meow please love the burrito master
I'll be honest, the game doesn't make a good first impression. I actually quit playing it the first go-round. I'm not sure what made me decide to give it another try, but I'm glad I did.
You have two main objectives in this game: collecting recipes and making it to the level exit. Collecting recipes is more of a scavenger hunt than completing objectives; think Super Mario Odyssey rather than Super Mario 64. The recipes are scattered everywhere: tucked away into corners, hiding at the top of cliffs, sitting on top of roofs just out of the range of your double jump, etc.
In some 3D platformers from the PSX/N64 era, I liked trying to get places that I wasn't really supposed to be able to. That seems to be the intention behind some of the design of this game, considering the placement of the recipes. Basically if something exists in the world, you can land on it. Incredibly narrow ledge on the face of a cliff? Yep. Fences that end in a point? Sure. Water? Well okay, maybe not EVERYTHING; the water is instant death. But I guess cats don't like water anyway.
There still is some gatekeeping. It's not as though you can just pass through walls or gates without opening them. One particular section in the 4th level made me think I could just cross through an opening above a closed gate, but an invisible barrier prevented me from going through. Still, you have plenty of freedom in navigating the environments and in how you want to approach collecting the recipes scattered around the world.
Getting to the end of the level is a more straightforward affair. Usually you'll enter an open area, discover a closed gate at one end, and need to flip a number of switches to open it and progress. These sections involve more typical platforming challenges than the "jump anywhere you like" with the recipe gathering. Hopping from one moving platform to the next requires good timing and precision.
Thankfully character movement in general is good. It is not perfect though; one of my main gripes is that you cannot immediately jump again once you land. You have to wait a second or two before you can jump again. This isn't game-breaking, but it's certainly irritating to try for a jump only to wander into the water instead, or missing the window for jumping onto a moving platform because you cannot immediately jump again. I played this game with an Xbox One controller, and I recommend using a controller for this game.
Adding to the challenge are enemies that spit projectiles. This would be fine if you could actually see the projectiles. They're so small you often don't see where they are or where they are coming from, and you seem to get hit almost immediately after hearing the *ptt* sound these enemies make. My advice is, if you see these enemies or hear the sound, don't stop moving, even if it's just in a circle.
Speaking of enemies, you'll encounter lots, but they are all pretty easily dispatched. The variety isn't bad either. I wish there was more feedback on if you're landing a hit. You'll only have a visual cue if you land a hit, and only occasionally will they make a sound. There is no sound of impact made when you hit, at least not that I heard, and I don't recall any force feedback from the controller either.
Another gripe I have is how loud some sound effects are compared to others. I might not be able to hear if I land a hit on an enemy, but I can certainly tell when I break a vase. My neighbors can tell too. The music is...there.
I said at the beginning that game didn't make a good first impression. That was true the first time I tried playing this, and playing through the opening areas a second time did not change my mind. It starts off in a castle which acts as a tutorial area for you to get used to the character movement. This would be fine if these enclosed areas didn't make the camera wonk out. The camera becomes much less of a problem after you exit the castle into the courtyard, and when the main game opens up and you can really start exploring.
The first area outside the castle is pretty vanilla and straightforward. The second level mostly takes place in caves and starts to introduce more platforming oriented challenges, along with those annoying spitting enemies. Neither of these two levels are necessarily bad, they're just "okay." There are a couple of interesting areas, but it's mostly just "walk to the end."
The third level is when things really pick up though, and the levels after that are just as good. I was really surprised; normally the first world is among the best and leaves the strongest impression, with what comes after going up and down in quality. Here, the levels progressively get better. The platform challenges are more frequent and interesting, the different areas of the levels are much more open and fun to explore, and there's a lot more to do and see in general. Maybe those first two levels are just intended to ease the player into the game, but it's almost unfair to those opening two levels just how better level three and beyond are.
As far as visuals go, well, you've seen the screenshots. You can tell what everything is, and it's mostly clean. The main character is just goofy, from the look on his face down to his walking animation. That goofiness extends to some of the NPCs as well. These people are supposed to be working in the castle, but it looks like they are dancing in place.
So yes, it's a flawed game, but they didn't detract much from the fun I had. It gets a recommend from me.
Does anyone else think this game is some kind of parody/homage to 90's platformers? Surely even the developers are aware how silly and cheesy this. You're playing as a cat named Mr. Fluffykins, on a quest for recipes, with words like "rad" and "awesome" floating about.
If there's one thing I like about this game, it's how big each world is. This would be more fun, though, if the controls were more responsive, and your character were faster (or at least had a separate dash move, like Spyro). Visuals are quite nice, too, though a bit lacking. Fluffykins himself looks uncanny, with detail all the way down to his bellybutton.
With all that said, this game is all right, for its price. It kept me going for two hours on the first day, already. Take that how you will. Here's hoping the developers patch this game's controls in the future, or maybe move on to make an even better title. To say the least, there's tons of potential here.
This game is not bad at all.
One thing I can't stress enough though was imo, this is NOT a good entry point for youngsters. I am 41, been playing games most of my life & had some trouble early on...
Overall - 55/100
It's a cute concept, but there's nothing very fun about this medieval cat-based platformer.
Playing as a cat - 18/20
You're Mr. Fluffykins, the Royal Cat of a medieval castle. The game loses a few points here, solely because the cat has what appear to be human teeth, and this will haunt my dreams.
Acting like a cat - 15/20
Mostly high marks here - you get to jump on furniture and help kill mice - but there's plenty of un-cat-like behavior, like walking on two legs and throwing bombs.
Adorableness Level - 10/20
Your player character's face (with weird human teeth) & posture are totally creepy, but the rest of the game is fairly cute.
Polish - 10/20
It mostly runs fine. The camerawork while inside the castle made my head spin, though. Dialog is hard to read, and hint text is accompanied by the most horrible noise.
FUN! - 2/20
The beginning of the game seems to be full of "fetch the key" quests with some light platforming. Eventually I got to a point where I was stuck: I needed to collect gems to buy bombs to proceed, and I had no idea where to find gems, couldn't find any in the castle or courtyard, and no NPCS were helpful. The game just wasn't fun enough to want to keep banging my head against it or look up how to proceed.
When I first bought this game it had major problems that made me feel it was unfinished and broken. But since then the developer has listened to feedback and worked hard to resolve the issues in the game. I now consider this a very nicely put together 3rd person 3D platform game. It looks really colourful and cute and the music is cheerful. It's not all that hard to win and the puzzles simplistic but finding all the recipes is a challenge if you choose to try to get every single one. I think it a great game to play with my young nephew and niece. Me and the kids play with a Xbox 360 control pad and that works very well in this game. The thing I personally like best in 3D platformers is just a large colourful world and hunting for hidden items, two things this game does very well. I loved my time playing this, having the cute king's kitty running all over the world hunting for the lost recipes was highly enjoyable. If you have children you want to introduce to 3D platformers or you just love a relaxing game of hunting for hidden objects in a large cute world then I feel this game is an excellent choice. I'd give this game 8/10 and highly recommend it to anyone after a enjoyable/relaxing hunt for items action 3D platformer or after something fun they can play with their kids.
I bought this game thinking it would be like poi which is a great title, but I guess I got my hopes up this game is bad, the camera jumps all over the place, there are glitches, NPC characters says irrelevant things and the music loops so much I had to turn it off just to play the game. I only played about 15 minutes of the game before I could not take any more. If your getting this title to amuse your child I would say pass of it and get them something better.
I wanted to really love this game, but I just like it. It has a lot of work to be done in order to be a 100 percent enjoyable experience. My biggest pet peeve is the mouse sensitivity, it's far too low. Moving the camera is a pain, slow, and janky. Controls/navigation aren't crystal clear and sometimes doesn't work (this only goes for the menus not working). It seems I have to press tab to use my mouse in order to buy bombs when you're supposed to just use the arrow keys. Another small note is the grammar/spelling isn't spot on. It's small stuff, so it isn't noticable to average people or deters gameplay. It's just easy for me to spot being a writer/proofreader. ("You're" spelled as "your", come on! x'D)
But with saying all of that, it doesn't make the game terrible. It is still a game you can just casually play when you need something simple and to scratch an itch of a 3D platformer. It's worth to buy and stick with on a sale as an indie dev improves it.
(Funny Note: If you hurt the chickens, they just fall over and become green as the grass. But they still make noise if you touch them. xD)
I found the opening level to be a little underwhelming but once you get out into the open the game becomes much more enjoyable. The levels are very colorful quite large and honestly look really nice. There's a lack of interaction with other characters but I wasn't that bothered by it. The game appears to be getting updates regularly which is good. Overall the game isn't too difficult but there's a few moments that had me grumbling (pea shooters are crazy accurate!) Sorta felt like a mix up of mario 64 and crash bandicoot to me but I really enjoyed this one so far and cannons shoot exploding chickens...caught me off guard with that one :D
Man, I really did not enjoy playing this.
Extremely limited variety of character models.
Mr Fluffykins looks like he crawled out of a seedy red light discrict sewer.
The platforming is super awkward.
Definitely would not recommend, especially not at the current price point.
