Explore the pleasures and horrors of love as Vincent, a man with a hard choice to make: marry his long-time girlfriend Katherine or move on to the incredible blonde he just woke up next to — named Catherine! But beware! Make the wrong choice, and you could end up dead. Delving into themes of free will and the delicate nature of relationships and the choices we make, this action-adventure-puzzle game is an experience unlike anything else.
From ATLUS’ all-star team that brought the Persona series to life, and animation by Studio 4°C, known for anime movies ‘Memories’ and ‘Tekkon Kinkreet Black & White’, Catherine Classic is a masterwork in stylish presentation and design.
Features
A Choice to Make
Vincent’s heart is torn between two women. On one side sits Katherine, the girl who intends to wed Vincent someday. On the other, Catherine, who appeared out of nowhere. Both of them pull at his heart and soul… The story can take many paths, and the outcome of this romantic horror tale can go to unimaginable places.
Nightmarish Puzzles
Move the blocks to create a path and climb a nightmarish tower while fleeing from the monsters chasing you. The lowest levels of blocks fall as time passes. If you’re not constantly moving, you’ll fall with them. There’s no time to waste!
The setting changes each night, rising higher and higher into the heavens. The more stages Vincent overcomes, the more complex the strategies required to progress will become.
Various obstacles impede Vincent’s path. Some blocks are traps, waiting to skewer unwary climbers. Others explode, damaging everything around them. The sheep in the nightmare are desperate to survive until morning, too. They’ll get in your way, mess up your blocks, or even try to shove you off. You’ll need your wits and the help of strange items that can deal with the sheep, remove hazards or create new paths if you want to reach the top!
Three Game Modes
Play through Vincent’s twisting story of love, lust, and self-determination in Golden Playhouse.
Take on the tower’s challenges for high scores, single player or local co-op, in Babel.
Face other players in local multiplayer to determine who is the better climber in Colosseum.

May you rest in peace... o' lamb.
Now's no time to die!
Also if you choose freedom, you're wrong.
11 Hours. Tl;dr - This game gets a bad wrap, and many dismiss it as a coomer title when in reality it has barely any coomer content. The puzzles are genuinely challenging, and while the side content is a bit underwhelming it's only because the main storyline is the focus. It's a genuinely interesting premise that asks several questions that are fun to discuss; and has multiple endings depending on your answers which somewhat tailors the story to your beliefs.
Catherine is an Amazing Puzzle game, and by far Atlus' best game, way better then Persona 5, just don't "literally me" the main character, he's a bum
also don't play the inferior full body version, it adds a bunch of bullsh!t about space and aliens that no cares about
they should do a gay catherine sequel called greg or something and you play as a woman who cheats on her boyfriend greg with another man named greg only instead of pushing blocks like a man you do girl stuff like put on makeup and buy clothes. dont know how you are going to make that into a fun puzzle game. cant wait to play greg full body on steam coming 2029.
My preferred version of this game tbh ( Rin's story just feels so jarring being added into Full Body). Not sure if they fixed those crashes but it seems like they did so I am giving this a thumbs up .
this game is the most annoying piece of SHIT, WHY ARE THE PUZZLES SO HARDDDD, i gave up at floor 6/7 and just started watching playthroughs, dont be ashamed to watch playthroughs, youll save yourself from a deadly crashout, the last floor is unironically easier than the mid level floors, anyways the story is good, atlus always makes good stories
This game is just as good as I remember it was, and even better looking on PC. Controller support is flawless for me, using an 8bitdo switch pro controller.
Fun and good puzzle horror romcom from Atlus with an underappreciated soundtrack. To appropriate the musings of a certain someone...
I mean, its certainly an Atlus game, in a VERY good way. What I mean is that the story is SO easy to sink into and basically drives the game. Coming into the game, I thought that I wouldn't like the puzzles too much, but they're incredibly fun, but also challenging enough to humble players.
Now we need Atlus to port Fullbody too, seeing as they've been releasing all their games multi-platform.
Defo recommend this to anyone who likes a juicy story, like SMT or another one of Atlus' franchises.
Thought I was gonna say Persona, didn't you!
Yes, you should play through this game. Yes, you should take a break and play through it a second time. Yes, you should get full body either separately or both and play through it. Q-thrin is not a must (full body) but is a nice addition, playing the game on hard mode feels hard. The dialog is really well made, I love the animation and I love Persona 5 and if you do you will likely enjoy this game, the idea of your choices changing the outcome of the game is always fun, and I'd always recommend to fully play without spoilers to the end of the game before looking up anything online. 9/10

The ultimate visual novel for normies, with puzzles.
This was my third playthrough of the game. My first was the original release in 2011 on the Xbox 360, and the second was Full Body on the PlayStation 4. I love Catherine, the game design is still so refreshing. Although the choices offered can feel a bit forced at times, and men are portrayed unfairly, most grown adults should be able to see through this and appreciate the superb story and its many branching paths for what they are and what the game is trying to do. I found the puzzles really enjoyable, original, and, most importantly, how well they fit within the story despite having no direct relation. As a side note, despite the QoL improvements in Full Body, I still find the story in Classic to be better. Worth at full price.
I don't know whose idea it was to put both the turning button and the moving button on the same button but don't you think that it's imporant to consider in a game where i might need to turn to the left to grab the block instead of WALKING on top of it?
Catherine is a really fun game. It has a very intriguing story, and the story is really the strong side of this game. The puzzles are fun to play too, they were a bit too hard for my dumb brain from time to time but could manage to solve most of them at the end of the day. If you like a good story and puzzles this game is a must play.
I hate Anime. I don't usually play puzzle games.
But Catherine transcends all that.
Maybe someday people will make great games like this one again. (but I doubt it)
Had it on PS3, seems to work fine on Windows 10.
peak/10, masterpiece/10 .... the best atlus game yeah better than persona
This is a great game. Way better than the full body edition. Save yourself the time and play the CLASSIC one.
"Beware, beware, be skeptical

Deceit so natural
But a wolf in sheep's clothing is more than a warning" -Wolf in sheep's clothing.
Anyways, Women, Am I right? Anyways Classic Cathrine is a game that trys to make topic of cheating/Affair cool hit topic with the youngsters. You play as a spineless man in a 4 year relationship that has its up and downs with woman named Kathrine. However one night you wake up in bed after a night with the boys with a succubus named Catherine. You have to choose which Cathrine you want to be with. How ever the game really really really feels one sided and wants you to go with Cathrine even if your trying your dam best to go with Kathrine. The game is split into 2 parts. One were you talk to people in the bar and drink which effects the puzzle sections. The real game is you having puzzle night mare as a sheep climbing block puzzles with other men who are also cheating on their partners. If you die in the puzzle tower, you die in real life. So better start climbing little sheep. The puzzles are good, but the its the story to me that falls really flat. The writing of the game is kinda really bad until the end which makes going through this game a drag, especially when you try to play as ultra faithful to Katherine. Even if you have your good meter to max if you accidentally say the wrong thing on ONE QUESTION you can get the ending I got. End up with no one and getting hit by a truck. leaves a bad taste in your mouth and no I don't want to replay this game. It has 8 endings at the creators say they are all cannon and not at the same time BS. Climbing the tower is one way to cock block cheaters, but I feel like there is a better way to teach this lesson than block puzzles. Just remember to never trust a random girl who just magically appears in your bed one day. 6/10
Let me start out by saying I'm actually too stupid for this game. Maybe I shouldn't have put in on hard for first playthrough but damn. Extremely unforgiving. I am fine with failing hundreds of times but what gets me is it's like old school go back to title screen and reload your save when you game over. THIS IS A PUZZLE GAME. Why make it so abhorrently tedious for a player to simply keep trying to find the solution. You can't even skip every cutscene. So for my fellow idiots out there I can't recommend this one. Best left to the Einsteins and Teslas of the world.
Cancer to play, cancer to read. Insufferable characters, disgusting puzzles, vulgar, banal dialogue. The plot resembles that of the reality shows rated 3/10 on imdb, if you are really into ntr garbage you could end up liking it i guess, that is if you're even able to get through the puzzles successfully to progress the story.
And yea your choices pretty much don't affect the outcome of the pig ending up in bed with another girl after crying about how much all the marriage and pregnancy of his girlfriend weighs down on him. No matter how many fucking times you try to express your willingness to repent and atone for your sins through dialogue options, the story just keeps progressing without caring about your efforts and good intentions, keeps shoving the fact that the pig is truly irredeemable in your face. Well, in that case, I'm dropping this garbage, guess there realliy is nothing good about this game despite visuals. Good riddance, perverted trash with no depth or morality whatsoever. Don't get fooled by the ratings and the fact that ATLUS made this. Just play Persona instead, it's worlds apart and MILES above.
fun gameplay mixed with a mid story and weird transphobia at the end
Great story and soundtrack. If i were Vincent i would have died every night 9/10
one of the only good things i got out of watching early youtube gaming. it's one of my favorites ever. i love puzzles.
This game has given me an ulcer and a reason to be single
As a guy who usually rolls his eyes at romance stories, this one completely took me by surprise. Be it the mystery to it, or the generally fun puzzle and different sets, something about Catherine is captivating, as well as stressful. I can only wish that one day they will put Full Body on here, but for now, this game is absolutely still worth it to play.
A puzzle game that, at one time, turned into one of the most competitive fighting games and even had live tournaments. I am not joking that I understand how that happened. It is just a very interesting puzzle game - never fail to amaze me Japan.
So the puzzle game is very interesting and can be insanely hard, especially on the different mode that the game offers.
The game is very adult themed, meaning it works with complex problems such as marriage, unplanned pregnancy and cheating. As you follow the story trough the eyes of the protagonist you basically get confused as to what is happening and how. The reveal later is done very well and I really liked the games approach to the endings. In total 8 endings exist and after going blind and getting one of them, I recommend looking at a guide before going for the rest.
The segments between the puzzles are filled with animated cutscenes 2D and 3D with some good voice acting from famous voice actors. The Bar segments are a very nice touch where you can text, chat with other people to see how they are all connected into your story and dring alcohol while listening to some of its trivia.
Honestly I had fun with this game. The story segment and the bar was something I enjoyed the most. But the puzzles ranged from good to downright frustrating. I had ragequit a couple of times on a single stage that I consider BS, and it is in the middle of the game. Still I do recommend it due to it being so unique.
A fantastic game with a really engaging story
I'm really confused why we haven't had 'Full Body' on steam though
Other than stage 6-2, this game is overall pretty fun. Definitely takes some time to get the hang of it though.
This game is more so of a mental game, if you like to solve puzzles or to be challenged then this is the game for you.
A good pick up if you find it on sale story and game play are pretty good only problem is annoying difficulty spikes
ps whoever designed 6-3 fuck you
One of the biggest draws of this game for me was that it was adults, in an adult world. It's a change of pace from so much of the rest of the games out there. They deal with real-life adult issues. And this game delivered that. Apart from the block puzzles and cut scenes, I enjoyed the nighttime at the bar. When alcohol is shown, they even give brief explanations of each drink. I appreciate that fact. It keeps the immersion.
literally a classic ! wish full body was available 3
Quite literally my favorite game of all time, I've played well over 200 hours across all platforms. Very interesting plot with very addicting 3D puzzle gameplay has kept me coming back to it for well over a decade and seeing a lot of the cutscenes rendered at 60fps is wicked.
Only complaint I have is the game just fails to run on steam deck for me, and I find it bizarre how we still have yet to get Catherine: Full Body on PC.
Love this game! Been playing it on/off awhile now. Will go right back to it too!
It's fun! Most importantly, it can be quite challenging if you want it to. The Hard difficulty setting is actually hard, which surprises me considering the devs are the same as the Persona games - games I found to be too easy no matter the setting. Hard mode kept me stumped for hours at a time on specific levels, which is, well, what I was looking for. It was fun figuring out the answer or creating one on the fly. And this is just talking about levels in the main story mode, because the game has a challenge mode to boot.
I found the story to be pretty entertaining, just like the questions you get asked throughout the game. Then again, I'm also the type to really stop and think about what kind of answer I'm giving, even if no one is going to find out about them anyway. Seeing how Vincent handles his incredibly chaotic week, trying to help out the other regulars at the bar who are in your same situation...that adds a lot of flavor and the game mechanics are really well-justified in universe in my opinion.
I'm not sure if this is the first serious, full-on puzzle game I've ever given this much time to. But it sure has proven to be worth it.
Please ATLUS, we need the Full Body edition on Steam.
This game does not run right on newer machines, while looking at the forms some people have some fixes that they claim work, but in my case I cannot get this game to run for the life of me. If you are also having issues I highly suggest reporting the game through the store page, as a game that doesn't run properly should not be sold. I was really excited to play this and I hope they fix it so I can experience it.
Boring and very uninteresting story. Extremely difficult gameplay even on easy. I heard lot of praises before however didn't see anything special at all in this game. Do not recommend.
I can't really say yes to this title because I've played the Full Frontal version on the Switch, and the issue here, on the Steamdeck, isn't that the original being without the extra content but rather that the animated scenes all fail to play and get skipped over. what the hell?
I've never been so ready to fist fight a level designer in my life.
Please bring the reboot to steam.
Thanks to this game, I'm definitely not getting married. Not because of women, but because of these pathetic losers out there like Vincent who somehow attract otherwise normal seeming partners, which means deep down, they're all morons. I do not want to be a moron, nor marry one. It's not that hard to maintain respectful relationships, and it's definitely not something to have nightmares about. Vincent, get rekt! I hope you get stuck in the endless nightmare. And Katherine, grow a brain and a pair of eyes ffs. Besides, mom said I needed to be a good boy and never leave her basement so that's what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna be a good boy.
This game was great until the last few levels. For one, an escort mission should never be thrown in randomly. It's bad and feels bad to lose progress due to an NPC getting themselves killed.
Other than that, good game. Story is interesting.
Its A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE for those who was actually in a long term relationship.
Story provides you with a genuane reality of those relationship, and what hardships you would face on the road. I like, that there is no "right" or "wrong" because in the end, it depends only on you what you want from this life.
Vincent is a relateble character, you can feel his strugless of life, and why exacly he "thinks" about cheating. All endings conclude the story in statisfying, and most importantly logical way. The whole plot twist with "khm khm" was incredible, never seen this coming, and this was really great.
Gameplay is as close as we probably will get to "puzzle heaven" if i can use this term, in range of "oh this seems ok" to "oh my god please stop this nightmare" thanks to all youtube videos who provided me with knowlege to beat this shi*
Art is good, nothing i can say bad about that.
9/10 incredible game, but not a masterpiece.
This game is a complete masterpiece! This story is super engaging too and addicting gameplay
This has been one of the best games I have played. I was shocked at the twists, and the gameplay was amazing. One of the best purchases I have ever made. 9/10.
shout out to my brother for introducing this one to me, I remember when this came out he got the pink circle boxers with the preorder at gamestop lol, fun game, super wacky
One of the best game on relationships which I have ever played
EDGE. EDGE. EDGE
My game crashed when I got to the story after the baby boss. Before that, I was able to start the game only after I switched users on my computer. I have been struggling with starting the game for a year until I came up with this dumb solution
