I can never get far past the tutorial, which is one of the worst tutorials I've played. Everything about the game and the way it plays just feels awkward and clunky.
This game somewhat surprised me with its quality, I had just completed the Witcher 3 and I got interested in trying out the older games to see if they withstood the test of time. This game definitely feels a bit dated at times, but overall it is quite an experience. I am currently trying to complete the 100% like I did with TW3 and have been enjoying myself so far. It is quite a bit shorter in terms of how long it takes to complete the story compared to TW3 but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The combat in this game is definitely different from TW3 and TW1 and feels a bit souls-like if I had to describe it somewhat, I am currently on an Insane-difficulty (hard-difficulty + permadeath) playthrough which is required for an achievement and the amount of dodges you do is somewhat akin to what I remember from some souls-likes. On the topic of this insane-diff. playthrough, there are definitely some bugs in this game that have been somewhat infuriating at times... I have been insta-killed a few times so far with no way to prevent these deaths and I can only pray that it doesn't occur this playthrough. Besides that though, I actually like the combat a lot. I feel like the difficulty level is somewhat above that of TW3 which I appreciate a lot. Combat can actually be quite challenging at times and you are not as OP as you can become in TW3. The movement in this game is one of my biggest peeves though, jumping isn't a thing in this game and you can't drop off of ledges freely. This makes navigating the map somewhat annoying, especially when you take away the comfort of a minimap that shows you the path to waypoints for example.
All in all, somewhat dated game in terms of certain mechanics with some bugs you will encounter over-time. Quite a bit shorter than TW3 and can reasonably be completed in ~40hours or less, somewhat challenging at times and some cool and unique mechanics, although those are subjective in terms of enjoyability. Exploriation isn't as big of a factor due to the smaller map-sizes and the more linear story progression, great story overall and definitely recommended to playthrough the game atleast once for the more dedicated Witcher-fans. This game offers tons of background info that will make your playthroughs of TW3 that much more enjoyable, TW2 does this well enough that its a fun experience and not as divisive of an experience as you will get when trying TW1 which is far more dated-feeling.
8.5/10 if you dont consider the poorly-aged mechanics/features, 7.5 if you do consider them imo. Definitely worth playing through, especially for fans of the Witcher / people looking to play TW3 afterwards.
The Witcher 2 is a fairly flawed sequel, and arguably the worst game in the trilogy. This is mostly a game you play for the story and characters, and to bridge the gap between the first and the third game.
The writing is still good, the plot is well paced and layered, with a lot of interesting plot points and political intrigue that unfortunately didn't get followed up on in the sequel. It plays around a bit with choices and consequences, both in the main story and in side quests, with some decisions leading to a drastically different latter half of the game.
Much like with the first game, you can also import your save into the third game, which can change how some quests play out, give additional side quests, extra dialogue lines, or let you meet some recurring characters.
Its visual presentation is also fantastic. It looked great for when it came out, and still looks great today. Cutscenes are more cinematic, character models are vastly improved, voice acting is much better, and it has some beautiful set pieces. Locations have a lot of personality to them, none of the villages in the third game were as memorable as Flotsam and its surrounding forests.
It's the actual gameplay part of the game that's not up to par.
This games iteration of the hack and slash combat system that most people know the series for is just straight up terrible. Weapon animations don't line up with the hitboxes at all, your attacks are randomized and inconsistent, enemies will animation cancel to block you. You barely get enough ability points to max out a single skill tree, but none of the skills help make the combat feel better. The one saving grace of this games combat is that it's so unbalanced that it's easy to just power through it.
People criticize the combat in the first game, but at least that games combat actually worked as it should.
The game is still a great time, just don't expect much from the gameplay. I'd recommend you get a few mods for the game to make it less frustrating, like increased carrying capacity, and more ability points per level. It's worth playing for the story, but the combat is not worth putting any more effort into it than necessary, you have a PC, that's what mods are for.
A bit buggy, but fun gameplay and a good story.
Continues the story from Witcher 1. The tutorial is important, since the game mechanics are different.
This game is a massive improvement to the first game. Everything is better, whether its the gameplay or the combat. 8/10 would definitely recommend.
awsome game with beautifull graphics enjoyed 100 %
great story love the story but too bad that i played the 3 first so the old game mechanics made the game play hard for me but its a really good game
The story is S++ tier.
The game play is ok, B tier.
The bugs are sometimes game breaking S tier.
S tier death traps.
S tier jank.
Roche is S tier.
Love myself an S tier Lethos.
The lodge is devinitely F tier.
Good game, still fun to play even years later. The 2 distinct story line paths allows for replay ability. Combat is a bit outdated, making some of the boss fights early in the game annoying, but the story is good and once you get some upgrades everything starts to flow more smoothly
The story is perfect, and in this episode, it is told from Dandelion's perspective. I like the aging of the characters and their new appearances (especially Triss, who looks even more gorgeous), but Zoltan's face has changed so much that when I first saw him, I couldn't believe it was him. Like in the first episode, the environment is fascinating, and the map system is the same. The gameplay has improved significantly, and the fighting system is much better. The choices you have to make are far more difficult, making you think for a long time.
*This episode's story is not related to the first one, but I highly recommend playing the previous game because it gives you an idea of The Witcher series and helps you learn more about monsters, potions, characters, and their pasts.
This game holds up just fine, and deserves a replay before your next time playing The Witcher 3.
-The Witcher being an amazing RPG series started here. Witcher 1 was a fine little niche RPG, that on a revisist feels like a janky side quest for what Witcher would become.
-The Witcher 2, however, has that same great writing and dialogue delivery present in Witcher 3. The combat is simple and certainly not the star of the show.
- Though not an "open world", Witcher 2's "Chapter" design is still a wonderful way to explore a world. Each chapter after the Prologue takes place in a nice, big area, full of interesting side quests and gorgeous environmental design. You also won't get bogged down by "tasks" and "points of interests", the side content here is just the meaningful, world-building stuff.
- Benefits from being in-between Witcher 1's complete "Amnesia quest" and Witcher 3's "Exposition dumps to catch you up with the books." The story focusing on the overall conflict of Nilfgaard and the Kingdoms, while still giving Geralt a completely non-book related reason for going on this quest.
It's a very comfortable length. You won't risk burnout before beating it, especially if you just want to experience the characters and story before diving into The Witcher 3 again.
combat system is ass but the story and overall game is fine do not play on dark that shit is impossible
Closer in game play to Witcher 3 than Witcher 1. Huge step up. But not as amazing as Witcher 3. Still worth a play through, especially if you're a fan of the books, lore, and all things Witcher.
It's a very good game. Graphics are still okay in 2025.
It is a very nice game. It takes the first one and fixes all its issues, so it's perfect. I can't find any downside to it tbh.

As a fan of The Witcher Series, I'd recommend this game for it's lore and continuation of the first instalment's story. Although this game was shorter than i expected, i had fun with the new mechanics and characters.
This game is really damn boring imo coming from Witcher 3 but I wanted more background on the games lore especially the politics in terms of the factions and the war as I had no idea what was going on in Witcher 3. I have got my answers by playing this game, though it felt like a drag. If you love the Witcher's lore then yes I would recommend it.
Summary: It feels pretty brutal to give a thumbs down to The Witcher 2 given how much I loved this when I first played it years ago. I think my feelings on it are more complicated than that, but unfortunately there are only two options on Steam and I definitely can’t say I recommend this game. Despite the fact that I have some nice things to say about it, it has just aged a little too much to be something I enjoy and tell other people to try. It’s aged way better than its predecessor by a country mile, but sometimes even a valiant effort isn’t enough.
Review: The first thing I want to acknowledge and give credit to is that this game is a straight improvement on the first in literally every way. It’s shocking how much they learned from their mistakes and this game is quite possibly the best example of why bad games need sequels, because they absolutely improved everything. Combat, characters, writing, world and quest design, art style, you name it it is almost certainly better in this game. Exploration especially is a real highlight. I loved touching every part of these maps, especially Act 2 which is absolutely the high point of the game. A lot of parts have aged relatively poorly, but I want to give credit to this game for being a real achievement for the studio.
Unfortunately, I am reviewing it today, not 14 years ago (holy shit time flies), and by today’s standards this game just doesn't quite hold up. The most obvious way it doesn’t is gameplay, specifically combat but also itemization and preparation.
The combat just isn’t… fun? It definitely looks a lot better and feels a lot more dynamic than Witcher 1, but once you spend a lot of time with it it really loses its luster because for the most part you just upgrade your dodge roll and just spam that until you win. The enemy types start out promising in the first area with a couple cool monster types that are both different and a pretty sick boss fight, but that variety never grows to a more interesting point.
There are unique items that you can use to augment and assist combat just like the other games like oils, bombs, and throwing knives, but they all just kinda…suck? For lack of a better word? That’s unfair for bombs, because the combo of Dragon’s Dream and Dancing Star is straight up sick as hell and can just clear anything, but other than that I don’t think I used a single other type of bomb because why bother?
Same with oils, even the ones that provide damage boosts don’t really feel like they do anything because the boosts are percentage based and therefore really small. Throwing knives are just a joke, I didn’t use one literally my entire playthrough because the game never incentivizes it, and again they don’t really do anything different that your swords couldn’t do or that you need.
I almost forgot to talk about preparation and potions. I don’t have much to say other than the system is stupid. Only being able to drink when you meditate is a horrendous design decision, and the way toxicity and potion matching works is just boring and useless. I was really hoping for more depth here.
All in all the combat just suffers from having some cool ideas that while interesting ultimately feel superfluous because you’re gonna end up hacking away at everything you fight anyways. On top of that just like the first game the signs are extremely underpowered, and as someone who likes using magic in any game I can I was really bummed out by how terrible they are, even with upgrades.
The other way that this game hasn’t aged well is writing. This really surprised me on my playthrough, because a lot of people still praise this game's writing despite its age and I remember loving it many years ago when I first played it too. I’ve even seen some people say that its writing eclipses The Witcher 3’s. I can now confidently say those people are insane, it isn’t even close.
The characters are strong, especially in Iorveth’s path in Act 2 you meet so many cool characters that are well fleshed out, well acted, and well written in a way that just makes you excited for the next conversation with them. (Quick side note, I really recommend Iorveth’s path if you end up playing the game, Roche’s path is not only inferior, but also he is a racist. Fuck racists.)
Once you look past the characters however, the story that this game tries to tell is almost weirdly pro-monarchy/authoritarianism and nobility? It also doesn’t really reveal these true colors until towards the end of the game, and it’s hard to describe without spoiling but suffice to say that this game makes a lot of definitive statements about what it thinks a “good” application of power is, regardless of what your choices are, and it has not aged well at all in today’s world.
This surprised me a lot as everyone who talks about this game online touts its choices, and even I remember the choices being really distinct and different. But while the game lets you make those choices, it still has commentary about those choices that is very clearly one sided, which removes a lot of the moral ambiguity of the world and choices themselves that a lot of people seem to think that this game has. In other words this game isn’t morally ambiguous at all, it definitely tells you which choices IT thinks are right, and as a result its writing is a lot less interesting. It definitely nails the interpersonal relationships between the characters, but the actual plot writing itself is really lackluster.
The last thing that I’ll criticize is that Act 3 just really sucks. It’s so much worse than the first two Acts that it almost feels like it’s from a different game. It’s boring, way too long and drawn out, way less interesting and fun. It brings the pacing of the game to a screeching halt and it just doesn’t recover from that ever.
Slight mini rant: I quit my playthrough in the middle of Act 3 this most recent time, partially because as I mentioned above it is boring as hell, but also partially because I randomly walked through a door and got curb stomped by 3 gargoyles that I couldn't dodge and couldn’t do anything about and died, losing about an hour and half of progress because the game’s autosave feature sucks. It did not feel worth powering through that all over again especially when I’ve done it before so I called it there so I could move on to the far superior Witcher 3. Just wanted to include this story to show that this game still features dumb game design despite being better than Witcher 1.
Overall, just like before I’m glad this game exists, was successful, and was an improvement on the formula it set up in the prior game. We need to allow companies second chances like this so they can continue to improve and cut their teeth. I don’t recommend this game to anyone looking to get into the Witcher series, I just don’t think the quality is there anymore and as much as that sucks it is also just a reality of any creative medium. I do however recommend the studio that made it and encourage everyone to check out their future works.
The witcher 2 is an amazing game especially if you’re a witcher fan you’re going to love it I just got 100% completion and I might go for another playthrough I really wish Gwent was in it because I don’t like the dice mini game at all the pacing is a bit slow but that’s not a big deal any game CDPR makes is going to be incredible
Coming from the first Witcher, this is a huge upgrade. Combat is way better and it looks pretty good for its age. The game is pretty short but there is some replayability since your choices really change some of the chapters.
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec exhaust system.
Amazing game! Feel lucky I finally was able to play Witcher 1 and 2 before getting to do a replay of the all time classic that is 3, this time with more background and lore understanding! Though 1 and 2 hold their own as incredible games as well.
frigg yes. i had a hard time getting in to it. i didnt understand the mechanics. so i wrote it off as a BAD game. but i gave it another chance. and when the mechanics clicked for me, it became a masterpiece, gameplay wise. i dont find the story as engaging as Witcher 3, but i realy love the gameplay. Witcher 3 is in my top 5 games of all time. witcher 2 is not that high, BUT, its harder, and thus i find it more rewarding, which is fun.
get this game, for christs sake get this game if you like RPG games and Witcher 3
Really enjoyed what I played of the game, completed act 1 and probably half way or more through act 2. Feels a bit dated but holds up for the most part. Combat is ok but I feel like Witcher 3 combat was the finalised version.
Good story, grahpics for its age are good and I can see the roots here as to where witcher 3 would come from but the bad in this game like bad animations to terrible cut scenes not to mention bugs like falling threw floors or getting stuck on the other side of doors that are open or black screens and even the CTDs that occur cause the games auto save feature while not being bad never over writes the last auto save and constantly makes new saves that after 2 or 3 hours can leave you with almost 100 save files that cause the game to CTD which means to fix the CTD issue is you have to make sure your saves do not go past 6 or 7.. I can see where the game the witcher 3 is coming from but this has so many annoying anomalies in it that it outright makes it not worth playing cause to be honest I beat it and felt my time was wasted due to the annoying issues that stemed from playing it in the first place. However I was bored and shovled through it cause I was curious of the games story which I will say was not that bad. I would say this game sits at a 5/10 there is just so many issues that happen playing it that it kills the immersion and the fun you would of had if it did not have so many issues.
Big improvement from the first one. It is a challenging game, the story is shorter but still very good. If you enjoy the witcher universe you will enjoy this one as it really leads into the 3rd, even if they ignore one route of this game in the 3rd.
Fantastic Sequel to the Witcher 1 and Fantastic Prequel to the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Perfectly meshes all three games together. This game is not missing any of the elements from the other games. However, it does improve but also lose some of the quality in the mechanics. It is also the shortest game of the trilogy. That being said, like the other Witcher games, Story is 10/10 and to this day the Witcher trilogy is one of the top RPG roads.
Love these games...

Graphics
The game has stood the test of time and still looks great almost 14 years later
Original books references
The game has many references to events from the books and some interesting characters that the CD gave new life to by adding them to the game and I like so much
Story
I really liked the story, it was very interesting and intriguing for me
2 times
2 times. You have to finish the game 2 times to see whole content. In the game, at the end of Act 1, you will have to make a choice that will affect the further story. Because of this choice, we have a two completely different Act 2. I mean completely different locations, characters, quests, etc. How many games like this do you know?
Characters
Geralt, Triss, Dandelion, Zoltan, Roche, Iorweth.. They are cool
Side quests
Here you will see a lot of good side quests in the game and I don't remember of a single bad one. I'm serious here. I really don't remember a single bad side quest in the game

±
Music
The ambient is beautiful, I really liked it very much. About OST.. There is not much OST in The Witcher 2. And among this small number there is a really good OST but there is very little of it and hearing the same OST every time in the same location throughout the entire act is a bit disappointing

-
NPCs
They are not alive. They do not have their own daily routine as it was in The Witcher 1. They either sleep or stand in the same place and do the same animation
Broken economy
The traders here are richest people in the world because they sell things for some unrealistic prices, but you sell them for pennies, and it doesn't matter if it's trash or one of the best armor in the game. You really have to grind(kill monsters and sell them for nothing) if you WANT to buy recipes and craft armor set that appears on higher difficulty in each act. I only lasted for two acts. Not for me
Combat System
Absolutely broken. Set traps for a few seconds during combat? Traps that Geralt should set before combat? Yes. Enemies block your attacks without block animation? Yes. Enemies ignore your attacks and continue their attack animation and kill you? Yes. CD in one of the updates disabled health regen during Quen, thinking that it was better? YES. Bad QTE? Yes. Bombs and knives are OP? Yes. I wouldn't say that these problems greatly affect the gameplay and perception of the game, but the fact that they exist is annoying. The combat system in The Witcher 1 was much better
Tons of cut content
Typical CD Projekt

9/10
game crashes a lot because of an bug with save files, too many of them causes the game to crash
Great second installment to the series. Much more content to explore and do than the first game, but also takes some getting used to coming from the first game. combat is significantly different, dialogue seems to carry more weight in this game as well which is quite nice to be honest.
I want OG Dandelion back
Its a solid RPG that feels nostalgic, especially if you’ve experienced the brilliance of The Witcher 3. The story is rich and engaging, with tough choices that really make you think, and the world is beautifully crafted. That said, the controls can be a bit frustrating at times, especially during combat, which takes some getting used to. Despite that, it’s a rewarding game overall and a great way to dive deeper into Geralt’s journey.
This game isn't that hot, the combat is the most clunky and overcomplicated combat i've ever experienced. your attack animations are based on where your character is facing the opponent and how far you are from the opponent which this game never tells you.
Fights where you are outnumbered 4 to 1, or 5 to 1, are extremely common. and i cannot recommend this game on this premise alone.
Aside from that, the game story is pretty good, the asthetic is meh despite the graphics being very good for its time, and the OST is as forgettable is it gets, i cannot remember a single remarkable OST from witcher 2. For its credit though the game is somewhat non-linear, and depending on your choices it can drastically change the outcome of the plot, but this is where my praise ends.
i give this a 3.9/10 below mediocre
Still has masterful storytelling. Characters are interesting
Combat is greatly improved from 1 but has some questionable hitbox from time to time.
Drinking potion becomes tedious, very bad design change.
Some missions doesn't tell you where to go ultimately just wasting time.
Lets see well I am probably a minority here but over the years i wanted to play Witcher 3 and every time i tried getting into it i just couldnt. But about 6months ago i bought the first 2 games Witcher 1 and Witcher 2. I finally got some time and went into Witcher 1 and well lets just say it was not my favorite game. Now having finished Witcher 2 I can safely say that the jump from the first one to this one is MASSIVE, Its an actual game that you can enjoy. gameplay is dated by modern standards but still enjoyable even today, the meditation system is much much better in this game then witcher 1 where you needed to get a room in an INN and i mean do i even have to talk about the combat it speaks for it self. Story was interesting, political just overall very enjoyable and i would probably come back and play it again for the Roach path.
If you played Witcher 3 and are intrested in the witcher world def give this one a try.
As for me I am very much looking forward to playing Witcher 3 now that i know a LOT more about the world. Hoping it goes on sale soon :D
7/10
it's not as good at quality of life as its sequel but still a solid game with a great story and characters
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is a game I’ve played multiple times, and every playthrough has been an absolute pleasure. Most recently, I played it on Steam, and it was a nostalgic and rewarding experience that reminded me just how masterfully crafted this game is.
Comparing it to the first game is almost impossible – CD Projekt Red made an incredible leap forward in every aspect. The graphics are stunning, even by today’s standards. The detailed locations, realistic lighting, atmospheric castles, and vibrant cities all come together to create a world that feels alive and immersive.
The gameplay has also seen a massive improvement. Combat is more dynamic and challenging, offering a real sense of accomplishment. The alchemy system, crafting mechanics, and tactical preparation for battles are all integral to success. Every encounter, even with common monsters, requires thought and strategy. For fans of complex and strategic RPGs, this is an absolute treat.
The story is, as always, one of the strongest aspects of the series, and here it truly shines. Watching the relationship between Geralt and Triss evolve is a highlight. Their story is deeper and filled with genuine emotions that make it feel authentic and compelling. Reuniting with Zoltan and Dandelion felt like meeting old friends again, bringing a warm sense of nostalgia.
The political intrigue is another standout feature. Royal conspiracies, wars, assassinations – it all adds a sense of weight and maturity to the narrative. You don’t just feel like a participant in events; you feel like a key player driving the story forward.
One thing I absolutely love about the game is its replayability. With its branching choices and multiple outcomes, every playthrough can feel unique. You constantly reflect on how your decisions shape the story, making it impossible not to come back and experience it differently.
Are there any downsides? A few minor ones. The game is quite challenging for newcomers, and the combat controls can occasionally feel a bit clunky. However, these are small issues compared to the overall experience.
In conclusion, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is not just a game – it’s a masterpiece. It combines a captivating story, complex gameplay, and impressive graphics that still hold up today. If you haven’t played it yet, you absolutely should. And if you have, like me, you’ll find yourself wanting to return to this magical yet brutal world over and over again.
Underrated entry to the series. Plays and feels a lot like a Mass Effect game compared to The Witcher 3 with its levels instead of open world, which is a very good dynamic for a Witcher game.
14hrs Playtime 7/10
The Witcher 2 is one of those games that takes some getting used to but when you get yourself deep into the story and the characters it's a brilliant game. The mechanics are much better than the first one and when you have a grasp on it especially with the combat you can absolutely tear through it. Getting the perfect game wasn't easy as this is a game I had to look up many guides to get through it and had to reload the saves and get through tedious bits again just to get the story based achievements. Good game, still holds up to it and it was one of the games that introduced me to fantasy games when I was a kid.
Too much media is “Kill the bad political leader and the problems go away”. But in this game its like “Sure this king is actual scum of the earth but regicide would just make things worse”. A refreshing perspective
As with all Witcher games it has an amazing story, however like the first Witcher game the combat is brutally average. The Grx are fantastic and the world feels real, dark and dirty.
Some aspect are better than W3, like the meditation system and the fact you actually drink potions. Mini games as always are very fun but the game does cheat at dice.
The main reason to play the Witcher 2 is so you can use your save in the Witcher 3.
I can only recommend this game if you are a hardcore Witcher fan and want to absorb the whole journey of Geralt and use the same save file. Otherwise I would suggest you start with W3.
As a side note, this game is very, very short.
10/10 plot and characters, sometimes very bad balancing on the higher difficulties and quirky controls. But the game is still very much worth it.
The graphics and game play are dated. Yet, it's a good game.
very unresponsive menus and clunky gameplay. just watch a walkthrough for the story
The Witcher 2 was my second adventure into the universe and much like the 3rd game, it was a lot of fun with a good storyline and interesting sidequests (the ones I found anyways) and it also came with a fair amount of janky gameplay that you come to experience with ‘the witcher’ games.
Some of the voice acting is a little phoned in from some important NPCs, an example was what was supposed to be a rousing speech by a character against an attacking army, sounded like a call to dinner compared to a call to arms…
I had some frustration with the menu navigation where I would frequently disrobe Geralt, leaving him bootless or trouserless in some nasty swamp or forest. Yes, this is partly my fault but it was also not very clear what was selected in the menus at times.
Combat was satisfying and Geralt felt like a powerful swordsman, wielding his swords in big sweeping powerful arcs that would strike down foes. The use of magic is always a nice little touch, whether you are setting an enemy on fire or trapping them.
Enemy design is also nice and unique with the occasional little spookiness. It would have been nice to see some different variations here and there, as I believe I only found three different types.
Sound design is, okay. I had a few glitches where I would be leaving a town and I could still hear conversations as if I were breathing down people’s necks, which was rather amusing and also a little gripe of the use of ambient sounds in Vergen… OH MY GOD THE SOUND OF THE CRYING BABY… Does everyone and their mother have a baby in this city, cos it seemed like it! But that is my little gripe where I was getting rather annoyed by a small little thing. Your milage may vary.
Overall, The Witcher 2 is a great 2nd game in the franchise and I would recommend picking this up and playing it if you are a fan. It is a fun and fairly short game; I completed it within 18hrs. If you are itching for another Witcher game to keep you entertained till the release of 4. Pick this up! Well worth the price.
After sinking half of my lifetime into The Witcher 3 i decided I should probably play 1 and 2. I struggled with 1 as it really hasn't aged well so resorted to youtube to learn the story. Moving onto 2 i was very pleasantly surprised how well it plays. So far i'm 10 hours in and after getting used to the differences in gameplay compared with 3 really enjoying it
If you think that the game is too hard, just keep playing it gets easier. The first chapter is the hardest.
And no the controls and gameplay isn't much worse, it's as close to Witcher 3 as it can be without being Witcher 3.
Where it is different from Witcher 3 is in its storytelling, where the story goes deep into the politics of the world of Witcher and this game truly operates in moral greys, as there truly isn't a good or a bad choice here, but they all have consequences.
This game will also make you think about all your choices and its consequences. And that's what's going to make you want to replay the game because you'll realise there's another half of the game that you've straight up not played because the game completely diverges from Chapter 2 onwards.
A thought provoking game that really makes you think about its story and makes you think about its impact.
A damn shame that regardless of the decisions made here, most of them are just completely inconsequential in Witcher 3.
That said, it's not just an improvement in gameplay but also a marked improvement in the writing of the game that truly makes this game a well paced replayable masterpiece. It's sad that the game still has the PS3/Xbox 360 era's green/bland colour grading. But all its flaws don't stop it from being a masterpiece.
just finished the gaem after so many recommendations. what an amazing story i could see myself playing it again twice. and i love the accents
the gameplay is better than witcher 1 but not quite as witcher 3
the story is a little short to be honest
i enjoyed it so i give it 7/10
Well, it's a good old game. Quite surprised it can run on my laptop. Definitely worth to play
Builds on all the great things in the witcher1 and has fun engaging combat.
combat may not be super indepth but it is fun and enjoyable to weave signs, light, heavy and dodges.
Story is enjoyable and holds you the length. Does a great job of making your choices never feel like they were right or wrong.
8.5/10
