Tough puzzles.
Recommending it just so you can hit New Game and witness legitimately the worst voice acting I have heard in a videogame. I swear Microsoft Sam would have voiced it better. Yes, it's that bad.
The price is ludicrous though, wait for a -85% sale first.
As for the game itself, well it's ~8 levels that consist of basically one room. The puzzles work, per se, but it's all extremely raw and unpolished. I don't blame anyone who quit within one minute after witnessing the game's beginning.
No, just no, its not worth the benefit of the doubt, it'll just cause you aggravation.
Poor level design, no options to mute annoying looping music that has no relation to the story or level, completely restart or reset a level if you have one missed jump. Find a better game for your time and money.
wanted to like the concept but setting up the solutions to the puzzles are a pain and the puzzles reset most of the time when you fail. The third puzzle has a annoying jump that looks impossible and before that there is a finicky section that you need to climb a vertical wall. There are some logical puzzles that i liked but it wasn't enough to keep me playing.
I decided to give this game a try, even with the mixed reviews. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it too. Despite being able to finished it, I don't think this worths even the sales price: The story is too short and unenjoyable, the puzzles weren't fair (most of the people I've seen got stuck on the 3rd chamber, because you need a milimetric jump to pass), the story is unfinished and I feel it won't be finished anytime soon. If you are a fan of the puzzle genre, there are many better options, and finished too.
A lot of things can be overlooked when playing indie puzzle games, but there's a limit. The graphics and music in Reveal are very good, as are the levels ... kind of. Plopping down cubes to use as stepping stones (Qbeh, Rethink, QUBE, Portal, etc.) is usually fun, but when you end up playing 'this jump is only possible if you time things perfectly down to the last pixel', it soon arrives at NOT fun.
Didn't quite get a Rage Quit from me, but I threw in the towel with a 'Meh, I'm Done With This BS' after level 6.
I've only played for a few minutes and may not play much longer. I am a left handed mouse user and the inability to remap the keyboard is extremely frustrating. I need to use the right side of the keyboard, not the left. I just don't know why shortsighted developers think the whole world plays the same way they do. Please, developers, if you read this give the player the ability to map the keys to the way they play. You will get much better reviews.
I really tried to enjoy this game, but I just can't. The overall game feels rushed. The music is good, the animations aren't very good, and the voice acting feels half-assed. The gameplay is ok, but it just feels clunky at times.
I have just started but it was much better than expected. Game looks that it has a quality as an indie game. I like when indie creators think and work on their games more to put it one step away. My first impression is extremely positive.
Reveal is a first person puzzle game, similar to Portal but instead of a portal gun, you have a certain power which can create boxes and activate certain mechanisms.
The first few puzzles are simple, providing a good tutorial for players and after this the puzzles gradually get more complex. Eventually you'll need to combine multiple puzzle elements together into an elaborate solution.
Puzzle chambers are tied together by an average quality story. The player character is a God, who awakes in an unfamiliar place with no memory of how he got there. The voice acting is decent, but the dialogue could be better I guess.
Reveal is a fun game, and if you enjoyed playing other puzzle games like Portal, you should enjoy this game as well. Some might say the game is short but I think it does a good job in the time it needs as an entry game, like how Portal 1 does.
it was good puzzle game some levels make me mad :D kinda great . Stroy was funny game is 8/10 for me
I was expecting a generic puzzle game when i got this game but glad i was wrong. Reveal is really fun and has good thought puzzles. Also the story is interesting enough that you would want to finish it just to see what happens next. Overall i really enjoyed this game. Also the price tag is quite low.
8/10
This game has such great potential with it's mechanic, but sadly it delivers very poorly. All the game really needs to be worth the money is to trimmed up. The learning curve was actually very well done for the puzzles, but many of them did have major annoyances that could have been seen and fixed if someone had playtested the game before released.
If the game gets an update to polish everything up, I would probably change this to a positive review.
To the developer(s) - As i said, the game mechanic is pretty good, but the game should have been play tested and polished up before release. Also, the voice acting is poor, along with the sound of it being too low. The story was also pretty lacking. I feel the game would have been at least slightly better off with no story or voice acting. One last thing - it can be hard to make players look up. The end to the game requires you to look up at the main character's father and brother, but there is never any prompt to do so. You should put them somewhere else, or at least a bit lower.
I see great potential in you, but probably the most important part of releasing a game is extensive playtesting, especially from people who have not played the game before.
