Really good game. A mix of Final Fantasy and PSO/NGS.
story , ost , characters ,gameplay 10/10, boss battles 100/10 very fun and enjoyable game
6.75/10
The game has a lot of potential that it did not realize, which is extremely disappointing. The gameplay and variety of characters that you can play is great and very responsive, every character is unique in their own way and would like to try a bunch of them. However, i am not driven to try new characters because by the time i'm ready to try a new character, i would have fought every boss type 5+ times already. The biggest complaint i have is the lack of boss/monster variety in the game, lots of the bosses are the same but just with different colors and names and slightly different mechanics. Sure they have a lot of quests, but it's boring when they re-use the exact same boss for every difficulty except they just have more HP and does more damage.
Difficulty is also an issue, it's extremely easy up until Proud difficulty because bosses will literally start 1 shotting you and missions will have 2 bosses which is extremely cheap. I love the Monster Hunter quest system, which this games follows, but with Monster Hunter, there is such a wider variety of monsters and the incentive is a lot different. The incentive in Monster Hunter is to get the Monster's gear, whereas here it's to get a better clear ranking or farming a random equipment to upgrade your weapon which is extremely boring.
The grind is also way worse than Monster Hunter and demands a lot, lots of people just setup macros so it can farm for them overnight, that's how bad it is. The first 10 hours of end game is really fun, but gets old VERY quick. Everything before end game is uninteresting as well. I heard the Granblue Fantasy universe is quite vast, but then why is the story for the game so bad and uninteresting and cliche? They have the characters and the general universe developed already, so it should have been easy to create a compelling story and integrate it into the end game better like Monster Hunter did. If only this game had more content and bosses and slightly less grind and more missions, this game could be a 8 or 9. But right now, i would recommend waiting for a sale or else you're not getting much content and it'll get boring quick. The combat, performance and initial end game carried my positive impression of the game and i would still recommend it.

Extremely beautiful aesthetics, and story is actually good; 10/10 recommendation.
The story is short and doesn't advance the series' plot at all. The characters are really unbelievable and they're just too nice. However, the gameplay is AWESOME. The boss fights feel like a WoW raid with NPCs that actually do stuff.
I'd recommend for the gameplay, but not the story. Also, keep in mind the multiplayer aspect is non-existent. It's a single player game.
If i knew they were gonna abandon the game from launch with no updates planned, i wouldnt have bought it.
Phenomenal game.
If like me you don't enjoy the Monster Hunter franchise and you are concerned because this game has been branded as a MH-like, I can assure you it is not. You don't go on hunts but on a glorified raid boss rush with epic music and flashy effects. Also, the gameplay is quick, responsive and visceral, it has parries, dodges, counters, active skills, combos and clean hitboxes on top of some grandiose boss mechanics you haven't seen since you've last played MMOs.
The story is generic yet spectacular and the cast of characters is lovely and offers a lot of variety. The combat and the RPG systems were so addicting, I happily did sink a lot of hours in the late game even though I played solo with AI companions.
Fantastic experience and I hope a Relink 2 will see the light of day at some point or that it's concept, while using aspects of several great games yet still brings freshness and pure fun, will inspire gaming studios in the future.
Great game even if you're not familiar with the gacha or manga/animation.
GREAT GAME!! I hope more games come out from this series. I enjoyed the variety of characters you can play, each feels very unique.
Very good story, worldbuilding, and characters. The writing goes the extra mile to justify itself, always having a simple explanation for why anything is the way it is, creating an easily believable world that pulled me in like a black hole. It can be cheesy and dramatic during emotional moments (this is *very* much a JRPG), but I found myself getting excited even in spite of that.
There are moments where the game seems to forget players actually want to play it, and will throw you into scripted, unwinnable battles to engineer a dramatic moment. On the other hand, it's pretty consistent about actually giving the controller back when a really cool thing is about to happen, which other games would usually relegate to a cutscene.
The music score is uplifting, beautiful, exciting, and eerie where appropriate. It genuinely never misses a beat, keeping the atmosphere at exactly the mood it ought to be to complement whatever's happening on the screen.
Combat is fast, tactical, and technical, with elemental affinities and combo strings. Each character has a different core mechanic that changes how they fight, so if you ever get bored of the wind-based, combo machine protagonist, you can switch to something completely different at will. The AI is dumb as a rock, your companions included, but they at least don't seem to get in the way. Side missions let you bring in other humans for online multiplayer, which helps a lot.
All in all, it's an extremely good game that also is what it is: a JRPG. If you don't automatically hate those (understandable; they can be dramatic and don't like letting players control them), then there's a lot of fun to have, here.
I absolutely loved this game a ton. It's sad that they opted to stop content updates so soon. Played every minute on Steam Deck with no issues or mods.
this game is laced with something. Theres just no other explanation. It changed me.
First, let me say ive never played a granblue game. This was my first exposure.
I should hate this game. The story is so bog-standard that i genuinely struggled to find a reason for it to exist. There is no twist, no nuance, no deconstructions or explorations, and no innovation. It is chock full of all the familiar anime tropes youve seen a hundred times. I tend to be a snob about stuff like this. Nuance and depth are things that can sell me on media solely, and ive spent maybe thousands of hours at work thinking about themes and character arcs and blah blah blah. This game doesnt have any of that shit. The noble knight lady is a noble knight. The precocious mage girl is a precocious mage. The rougeish type with a heart of gold is exactly what you think. Its to the point where i genuinely believe you *cant* spoil this game. The moment the bad guys show up, you know everything about where the plot is going.
I played through it with fairly low expectations, mainly to answer one question: "Why do so many people have 200 hours in this?" And while i enjoyed my first few hours with the game, i wasnt really sold. It was cozy, like reading your favorite childhood story. That won it some points, but i didnt really get it... until the first real boss fight. I actually lost. It took me so off guard with the bump in difficulty that i didnt realize until my 3rd try how much FUN i was having. The moves were interesting, the effects electric. I sat up in my seat and i locked in. And i won, only to be rewarded with, well, more of that white-bread story.
I know it sounds like ive been shitting on the story, but i need to convey that the gameplay genuinely carried it. The second big spike of enjoyment i had was when i got my first Crewmate Recruit Card, used to unlock extra characters to play as, and picked up a spear wielding fiery woman named Zeta. Her moveset seemed focused on aerial combat, and i was thrilled to realize "YO, this game has an Insect Glaive? From Monster Hunter?" I'll use this as a brief time to go over characters. Every crewmate has 1 to 2 mechanics to keep track of that are unique to them. Thats it. Executing them is a bit more complicated. Zeta can keep launching off an enemy for theoretically infinite comboing that constantly increases the damage output, but only if youre able to time your inputs properly. While the timing isnt exactly super strict, its dependent on how close you are to hitting enemies who move around a lot, and suffers against groups of enemies. Each character works similarly, though i think the "Captain"-your default character, feels clunky and is a bad first impressions.
Speaking of clunk, the game handles "falling" poorly. when running down terrain that is functionally a really long staircase, your "dropping" animation is just sortve your neutral pose. It is difficult to describe but very jarring. imagine a couple frames of T-posing, then make it a little less dramatic. Its a small issue, but it lowered my expectations
My experience went between standard story, solid combat, and excellent boss fights. The finale earned a lot of points with me because on top of being a series of really hype moments and awesome fights, the main villain is just.... the most determined woman ive seen as an antagonist. She just keeps. on. going. She has backups on backups and managed to feel like a villain who is actually hellbent on winning, and even when *you* win, she has a final couple of "fuck yous" up her sleeve. Picture your favorite villain. They probably gave up sooner than she does.
Other reviews say the story isnt really the point of the game, almost treating it like an obligation, and i get that. You will too, if you play it, but it feels cozy. Familiar. I had never met these characters but i felt like i had been on adventures with them or other versions of them dozens of time. I am not immune to this game's charms. I love suprisingly tight combat with competent difficulty scaling, and now that ive beaten the story and done a bit of the post-game (which i WONT spoil, as i feel like its actually pretty charming and fun).
I feel like less of a pretentious 5head for playing this. And maybe, just maybe, you will too.
If you want a jrpg but don’t necessarily have the time to invest in persona level time commitment this is the game for you. Story takes a min to pick up but once it does it will hook you. Performance is fluid across the board from handheld to desktop. Combat is impressively smooth. Being able to choose who to play as and the extensive skill trees lend itself strongly to its replay ability. Enjoy!
The game was doing good during the campaign and early end game then getting to proud difficulty it becomes boring endless grind of the same reused bosses, most likely ruined by balance around multiplayer bullshit. Party AI is complete crap, can't even have the basic ability to command them to attack the same target, they take hours to move to the next target during Proto Bahamut fight (yes even the ranged ones) and never attack it on time or fail to get on cannons to kill the orbs in time. The required mats for upgrading sigils is way too much and you can't event get the sigils you need the most because they drop from the fight you need them for. The amount of time needed to grind something that feels useful is not worth it.
Like a gacha game but the story is really good, and you can unlock all characters over time. The different playstyles are enjoyable too!
A good story with an AMAZING soundtrack with great characters and fun combat mechanics, game is well worth the money.
This is a fun game...but some of the grind is over the top and takes the fun away in the endgame. This is why there are lots of posts about how to 'afk' farm.
The story itself is nothing special. Side-quests are pretty much, kill those monsters and bring me stuff and there are tons of them, I mean like 100+ that you need to do if you want the achievement :)
Gameplay is quite fun, character variety is awesome. Think of Monster Hunter weapons, each is a crew member you can unlock and level to 100. Then, for each one you have to forge 5 weapon and level each weapon to 150 to get the mastery bonuses.
General advice is to just finish the story and then choose a character to play and a crew around you to build. The reason is you needs tons of Mats to build them and if you stick with a crew, then you will be able to progress enough to easily farm required Mastery points (MSP), Weapon upgrade Materials, and other special drops...
When I say easily, I mean fights will become easy, but drops are 'puny', that's where the grind comes in. There are certain fights you will need to repeat literally hundreds of times.
If you get fed up, any you must be a saint if you dont, there are now some mods that will make the grind a little better, like 3x Fortitude Crystal drops from those fights I mentioned above so you get, say 90 total and you would still need something like 200 to level a single weapon.
Once main story is over you do all the boss fights and newer ones in similar setting to progress through difficulty, easy, normal, hard, very hard, extremely hard and then you arrive at maniac, which is where things actually get harder but not for long as you will be gearing your characters. Then comes Proud difficulty and infamous Bahamut after like 15 fights which you will need to farm to get "Terminus" weapons, the most powerful weapons that you will need to awaken and level on top of getting to 150.
That's probably where you will spend most of your time, doing the fight hundreds of times depending on your luck to get the drop for all crew.
And then, well, there is the infamous 'Zero', a fight that is designed for ninjas. Good luck with that.
Not sure why it an difficult game during chapter 4 but not sure I need level to certain level or use certain charater but did I rushed the game.
Fun game. The story and characters are kind of "cozy" feeling which was a nice change from the other games I have been playing. The combat feels a bit shallow for me but not shallow enough to not enjoy it.
I forgot it's name but the little flying dragon is so fucking annoying.. he is literally the worst part of this game. Beware for he will make your skin crawl and want to punch his stupid face, or at least for me he did.
It's perhaps one of the best anime-style games I've ever played. It's a short game but highly enjoyable. I recommend it to fans of the Granblue Fantasy saga and lovers of anime and fighting games.
It has some really interesting features, borrowing elements from games like Genshin Impact for online co-op, and it includes a very practical skill tree (if you know how to use it).
On a personal note, Sandalphon is the most overpowered character in the game. If you get the chance to play as him, take it—you won't regret it.
Really fun and can be surprisingly deep gameplay-wise depending on the characters you play with. Your characters are not locked into a specific role on the team and can be built to do a number of different things depending on your skill and weapon choices. It has a matchmaking system that resembles Monster Hunter except honestly a bit nicer in some respects. The story is fantastic if a bit short for the "main" section of it.
The first hour had me wondering if this was the game for me, especially already having plenty of time spent in various Gacha games. However, from a few hours in until the end of the main story, I can only describe the experience as EPIC. There are plenty of truly fantastic and memorable fights with great music and environments to boot.
While the combat gameplay can get a little repetitive if you only play one character, switching it up keeps the game fresh. You will receive plenty of character cards allowing you to add others to your roster, giving you the ability to switch it up.
I've played roughly 4 hours after completing the main story and am still having a blast slowly pushing to the endgame content.
Really nice anime-style action jrpg with a reasonably short story campaign that you don’t have to dedicate your life to in order to finish. Took me about 20 hours. Had a great time.
There’s at least an extra 100 hours of content there after the credits roll if you want to beat all the extra bosses, unlock all the crew mates, max out their stats and grind to get the best gear for everyone.
If you're a GBF fan like I am, you'll like this game. Even if you're nota GBF fan, but you like JRPGs like Final Fantasy or the Tales series, you will probably really enjoy this game. The one thing to note about it though, is that this is structured very much like Monster Hunter or God Eater, where you'll go out on Quests to slay certain enemies and bosses for rewards, rinse and repeat. After the main story, there is some story content remaining, but a lot of it is just a postgame grind to complete harder difficulty quests.
It's overall enjoyable, pick it up on a discount and you'll definitely get your money's worth
I do highly recommend installing a mod that removes the garish blue text box from 30% of the screen, but thats not nessecary.
Combat is pretty good, and the mechanic of teaming up with your allies is very rewarding, especially if you coordinate it with real players.
I had a great time with this solo. Plays smooth, each character feels unique, and I really enjoyed the writing. What a treat!
In fact, all I want is more. If the next installment features a longer story, companion interactions/actual scenes for already fantastically written dialogue, you're looking at a GOTY contender.
Go bigger Cygames! You're ready!!
super fun story, good coop grind, i feel like im sung jinwoo with lancelot
This game is pretty interesting to me.
I do really like Granblue Fantasy, so it might be why I like this game a lot... But this game was really fun!
You can finish the story without issue, it's not really a challenge. If anything, it's more of a tutorial for how the mechanics work. The plot is alright, but it's not a masterpiece.
The game has a lot of playable characters that you can pick from, all are fairly different from one another. It would be challenging to not find a character you enjoy playing. Character designs are good, and each character has a backstory to them, which you can find out a bit of it in-game as well which is fantastic. You can also watch the anime or play the pretty average mobile gacha game, but I really like how you don't really need to see the source material to understand whats happening, or learn about different characters.
Post game can be a pretty big chore, but you don't really need to do it? Unless you're a completionist. If you think you'll only play the story and that's it, I would highly recommend buying this on sale. The story is only about 10-15 hours long. Otherwise, I think this game is worth buying even at full price. Endgame content is quite grindy like I said before, but it's not terrible. It reminds me a lot of Monster Hunter. You group up with 3 buddies and take on quests. Quests can range from fighting a boss, clearing hordes, defending an object, etc. and you can sort quests by what materials you're looking for as well.
This game has voice acting! Both Japanese and English is really good, and the English voice acting isn't bad. If anything, I'd recommend playing with the English voice acting. I think it sounds amazing, and I usually play JRPGs and watch anime with Japanese voice acting.
For downsides, the multiplayer is pretty iffy without mods, since it's a regional thing, and everyone who still plays this doesn't really use the base multiplayer. We use a mod which turns on global matchmaking, then send party codes in a Discord server, usually the official one. Modding is pretty easy though! And it's not illegal or anything either.
Cygames has kind of abandoned this game though to persue Versus: Rising, a fighting game, so don't expect new content, DLC, balancing, etc anymore. It's a shame, but the game wouldn't really fit as a live service game, since it's more of a story game.
---
Overall, I think this game is a hidden gem. I would highly recommend to give it a try if you get the chance. Pick it up on sale if you're unsure. If you want to support the devlopers more, try out Versus: Rising, or maybe buy some of the DLC for this game.
I didn't know if I was going to like this game. I always didn't consider myself a person that liked these style of games. However, here I am 20 hours later and still playing. It is a lot of fun.
monster hunter but anime. nice, the story is very interesting and the important is there waifu material
Superb JRPG experience with 22-hours main story adventure.
Great voice acting and soundtrack.
Variant boss fight, somehow similar to Nier Automata.
End-game content super GRINDING.
Fun game overall, but way too short. Game encourages you to run all over the place and loot chests and ground collectibles because they are marked on the map, but that takes a lot of time and the items in those chests are not really needed. The game also pushes a lot of extra quests, missions and stories about the characters that are also not needed. If you just focus on the story of the game and process the objectives, I think you would see the credits roll within 5-6 hours. I typically get 50+ hours out of these types of games, but this one only gave me 18 and that includes a ton of side grinding on optional content.
beautiful and crisp graphics, tight and responsive gameplay.
Worth every penny , I can't wait for them to make another game like this one in the future.
9/10 game for recovering gacha addicts. Many of the systems and UI are clearly influenced by gacha, heavily optimised for non-stop dopamine hits, but without the real-money gambling. If you understand what you're getting, i recommend it at 50% off.
If you aren't addicted to mindless grinding, it's closer to a 6/10. The story is short (<15hr) and not very engaging; even though you're the "captain" of the crew, you're kinda just dragged along one event after another. There are probably better JRPGs you haven't played yet.
Combat is nothing like Monster Hunter—it's much faster and involves spamming flashy skills, like Genshin Impact, Scarlet Nexus, Tales of Arise or other real-time action JRPGs. Many characters have rotations based on rage bars or builder/spender combos although some are more flexible. Most fights that last more than a minute will involve extra-flashy events like slowed time and chained ultimates. Overall it looks and feels great, but I can see it getting annoying at late game with longer fights.
The quest system is the only thing that is similar to MH (or instanced MMOs like Phantasy Star Online) but much more streamlined. Simpler menus, fewer buttons needed, fewer unskippable timers, able to repeat quests from end screen. MH could learn a thing or two about removing bad friction from UI instead of removing good friction from gameplay.
Gear upgrading is gacha-like, not MH. Tiers are bloated; instead of a meaningful difference from a weapon +1 to +2, you always upgrade by 10's (e.g. from +10 to +20) using the "add as much upgrade material as possible" button. The numbers don't really matter (until endgame theorycrafting), you don't need to carefully consider which weapon to craft or upgrade, you just press the dopamine button until you run out of money or materials, go grind the same quest a few more times, and come back to press the dopamine button. You need to craft and upgrade every weapon to unlock bonus passives anyway.
Field maps are quite simple, linear but with enough gameplay variation to distract you. It never feels like walking down the same corridor for 5 minutes. The 1 town and 1 city look nice, cute details like stray animals, busy marketplaces with NPCs shouting over each other, but they stay mostly the same so it starts to lose its shine after a while.
In-engine cutscenes are well done, lots of impressive set pieces with seamless transitions to gameplay.
Story is typical anime. It starts with an established party of 7 with a lot of backstory, which is slightly overwhelming as someone new to the franchise, although the main plot point is extremely basic so you can just follow along without knowing one weirdly-eared species from another.
The UI for story scenes has an amazing feature I wish was standard in other RPGs and Visual Novels. There is a glossary that automatically filters words that were recently mentioned in dialogue. E.g. characters talk about X faction, if you press the glossary button, it lists the lore entry on X first.
If only they did this game like what capcom did to Monster Hunter Franchise.
I bet this game will be a nice addition/competitor those who like Monster Hunter. But it is what it is, and I kinda disappoint about the fact that this game already dying.
Great time that played smooth, only catch was the main character's combat felt more sluggish than any other character, but you can switch him out almost immediately. The story was a grand time and reminded me of classic animes, the game also featured multiple plots with a focus on redemption and the reminder its never too late to make amends or better yourself, which always hits deep.
Super fun game either solo or co-op. It's like an anime Monster Hunter with FFXIV dungeon bosses instead of large animals. My only gripe is the annoying, over-the-top, anime-style voice acting, which to me is just another way to say "bad voice acting".
This game is really good and serves as a standalone introduction to the Granblue Fantasy universe with a huge cast of diverse characters to play as in a Monster Hunter-esque experience.
Personally, my favorite aspect of the game is the story as it has a lot of cool moments with a few callbacks to the browser gacha such as summoning Bahamut . Even though the game's narrative is not the best, it has a few moments that elevates it. Another aspect that I like is the variety of characters, each with their own unique playstyles that suit their characters. They even have individual story episodes that serves as an introduction to the characters. Personally, my favorite characters are Zeta and Narmaya. Graphics are also really nice and runs really good. The soundtrack is also really good, particularly the tracks for Bahamut, Bahamut Versa, and Lucilius
However, even with all the pros above the game is still a bit grindy, especially deep into the endgame where drop rates are quite bad. Endgame raids also have the problems of oneshotting too often for my liking. Your mileage may vary on this.
In conclusion, I do recommend Relink for people who would like an anime-styled Monster Hunter as well as people who are interested in the Granblue Fantasy universe.
Anime, the game.
This game wouldn't have flopped if the multiplayer was done right but the region locks and lack of multiplayer accessibility killed it tbh. Still a great game though and if you got 3 friends to play it with, you'll love it.
I like it a lot, very fun to play and cool story. It gets very grindy after you beat the story though.
Granblue Fantasy Relink is a good action jrpg. The graphics of the game are good, the music is fantastic, and the story is good. You should give this game a try.
Firstly, I don't know much about this series beyond it having been a mobile game but the story was easy enough to follow with plenty of character backstory to explain who they were. The post game is essentially monster hunter, so if your like me you'll love this game; its biggest flaw were the "bug fixes" where they imo ruined certain chars, once they started with that I lost all interest in playing.
i kinda have mix review within the game but the story was good not the best but interesting, gameplay was fun and it fun using different character wish the story was a bit longer since the story is only 8 hours or less depend if you choose to skip overall it a fun game but wish they add more content that involve story
There are many things that could be said about Granblue Fantasy Relink but I'll lead with a compliment. This action rpg game based on a very popular gacha mobile game could easily have been just as laden with predatory faux-gambling so you grind endless hours for your favourite character or just end up paying some cash. But they didn't do that. You can unlock all the characters in a fairly reasonable amount of grind. The game still has quite a whole lot of grind though.
The main story of the game does not pose a real challenge but once you get to the post-story content, the side-quests you undertake, which become the main focus after the story, throw some fairly engaging fights at you. Having to grind some of them really wears down the enjoyment you have but that's honestly just for completionists.
The story is a fairly serviceable anime plot, expect no huge surprises and a hefty dose of power of friendship saving the world but it does its job to keep you entertained.
When I started playing and even now that I consider this game finished, I don't really have a character in the fairly sizable roster that I really like over all the others but this is purely a matter of taste. Suffice it to say, the game this is a spin-off of has an absolutely ridiculous roster, so the selection here is almost surprisingly sensible.
Relink's combat system highly depends on your character of choice. Some of them work via rhythmic button inputs, others rely on building up a meter, some others again deal big damage by building up and then spending a ressource. At least in this regard, I think everyone can find a character that caters to their tastes. The fights themselves are usually comprised of mowing down waves of smaller enemies or fighting against larger monsters and bosses in confined arenas, reminiscent of Monster Hunter or dungeons from classic MMOs.
Another thing that I find noteworthy is the pretty solid voice-acting in the English version. I enjoyed hearing the quips and dialogues of the various teams you can put together.
Overall I'd recommend Granblue Fantasy Relink to weebs, fans of beating up on enemies three times their size and people who love to grind to constantly make bigger numbers.
It seems to me that a lot of the reviews are upset that the game isn’t an endless service kind of game that’s constantly getting new updates and bosses, but I’m the kind of person that wants to play a game, beat the game, and then move on to playing other games. If I want to experience an old game again, I would rather replay it than every few months Re-download it and play a few hours of new content, then uninstall it again.
Love the gameplay, the graphics, the character designs, the music, everything. I just wish that you could play co-op through the whole campaign. I don’t see why you can’t. If you could, this could probably have been my favorite co-op game.
the game graphic is astounding, the gameplay is simple yet challenging. it was nice experience. #JPRGisnotdead
Probably my favourite game of 2024. Loads of characters with very different gameplay styles, pretty world with a number of hidden things to find and mega upgrades to be had for all your characters and weapons. Feels a bit like anime Monster Hunter but the bosses have more predictable phases and are rewarding to master.
I played through the main story, which still leaves the massive grind for gear and materials to reach the true endgame. So, take this as a review of the first 20 hours or so of the game.
It's gacha methadone. Based on a gacha game, looks like a gacha game, has all the myriad currencies/side quests/objectives/unlocks/skinner box dopamine curve of a gacha game etc. But wiithout artificial gates built out of energy bars that deplete daily or random pulls for characters or other constant pressures to monetize via microtransactions. It can even be played offline. An excellent way to not play certain popular mobile games and to enjoy a cheesy but sincere story.
Probably not worth $60 for just the initial story mode but there is a lot of time to sink into post story content. Maybe wait for a sale.
Additionally it runs like a dream on the steam deck.
It's been a minute since I not only started a JRPG, but actually completed it (FF15 was probably the last). Well, "completed" might not be the right word, since Granblue Fantasy post-main story has apparently a really long epilogue (another six hours or so) and a seemingly infinite amount of endgame similar to Monster Hunter games. Great for people with time, I guess, but I am really quite content with the main story.
I must also say that I took probably over 500 screenshots. The game is stunningly beautiful, with rich colors and just an endless supply of wallpaper opportunities.
Anime-style Monster Hunter Lite
Good:
+ Cel-shaded graphics and character models are aesthetically pleasing
+ Decent amount of optional post story content like quests and more unlocks for characters
+ Pretty solid roster of characters (at least 12), each with different style of combat
+ Voice acting for the main story, battle dialogue and character stories
Bad:
- Story (or lack thereof, what little bit of story we have is very generic. They are probably better off using the story budget somewhere else)
- Chest platforming mini-game start getting pretty obnoxious late-game
- Lots of story dialogue and character banter happening mid-battle, making it really hard to fight and listen/read at the same time
- Bosses/fight patterns recycling near the end of the story/in postgame content
Rating:
3.5/5 Dial soap bars
