- Have your eyes metaphorically boiled by an array of vibrant colours and effects, allowing over 5 different stunning colours due to state of the art technology.

Hard af, but fun and challenging
Fun challenging simple
NEO NEO is a very solid twin-stick endless game thats simple and addicting, with fast gameplay that pushes you to chase a higher score each time.
Intense, ruthless, challenging.

A brilliant setup and visual style are made almost unaccessible by the limited options present to players. With no obvious way to buffer the difficult curve many will be turned off completely.
A great hi-score chaser, I really enjoy it.

A beautiful game with nice smooth responsive controls. Easy to pick up with simple and addictive core mechanics. Great price for what it is. Gets the heart pumping and is just the right level of frustrating to make you want to go again.
The positives of this game far outweigh its negatives, and, honestly, at £1.52 this game is a steal. Having said that, here's a little discussion below:
Positives:
1. This game has a very attractive art style and is not overwhelming.
2. The controls are incredibly responsive and intuitive.
3. It is deeply addictive. I suppose this could be a negative too, but for the 6 hours I've spent on this game so far I feel like it has more than made up for its £1.52 price tag, and I still haven't 'completed' it.
4. The price tag: It is £1.52.
5. Achievements unlock upgrades which significantly change the way the game is played. This means that each upgrade you unlock gives you a very different gameplay experience.
6. The concept is quite unique, but also very simple. You pick it up very quickly allowing you to get straight into the game.
Negatives:
1. The game has a little introduction scene when you first load it up which is very attractive. However, that seems to only play the first time you load up the game which, I think, is a shame.
2. I (realise how nitpicky this is), but the game has a spelling mistake I've noticed. I think it was 'allways' instead of 'always', but it isn't exactly a huge problem.
3. I initially thought that the upgrade system would make things easier, and in some ways each upgrade does. However, using some of them (and you can only use one at once) results in a very different 'difficulty' than using others. The shotgun upgrade, for example, seems (at least to me) to be far more powerful than some of the others and result in an easier 'difficulty'. This is not so much a problem, as it results in a much more varied gameplay experience than would otherwise would exist, but I'm not entirely certain if that was the intention. If it was, then I guess this is more of a note than a negative.
Overall though, at under £2 this game is definitely worth it.
Looks like a good game. Love the graphics and the music. Bit fast a furious for me, I did get off the bottom of the leader board though! Maybe one day there will be an "Old Dears" mode, with slower monsters and easier to see. For the over 50s!
NEO NEO is a simple, addictive, and responsive game in which you massacre an army of enemies.
Overview:
The game is fast-paced and intense, getting kills is both rewarding and exhilarating. The controls are simple and easy to understand, though the explanations can confuse new players. It is difficult to get to grips with them if you aren't used to the kind of intense gameplay that NEO NEO involves.
The game itself is bug-free (as far as I have seen), and both the art-style and music are pleasing to the senses.
Difficulty:
As you progress further into the game, it becomes more and more difficult. New enemies with different weapons unlock, and hazards become increasingly dangerous.
Getting past the first floor is difficult at first, whilst you are still getting used to the way the game works, but you will very quickly improve. Due to the warping system, the better you are at the game, the easier it is to quickly progress through earlier floors. Meaning that you won't get annoyed by having to trudge through the first level every time.
However, I personally think that the game would benefit greatly from some sort of practice arena, where you could get used to using the warp abilities.
Unlockables:
You can unlock modifiers that can change the way you play the game. Each modifier works in a way that means you can use whichever suits your style of play the most.
There are also a fair few achievements, most of which involve getting to a certain point in the game, or killing a certain number of enemies.
Music:
There are only a few sound tracks in the game. After a long while the music does become a little repetitive, an ideal improvement would be to add in some sort of dynamic changes to the track whilst the game goes on, this would also have the effect of adding to the increasing intensity and feeling of reward when you get further into the game.
It's like being in the Matrix.

That's really All I have to say about it, it does its job, and is priced accordingly.

All right, lets try this again (re-reviewing due to technical difficulties):
NEO NEO is a fantastic edge-of-your-seat shooter that is quite addicting. I almost get notions of a modern abstract Pac-Man with the different colored enemies being functionally different, and the way you gobble them up in an efficient order like dots. At first it feels very twitchy, but the more I play the more it feels puzzly. It's one of those things where you just need to dig in and try. Due to the technical difficulties I was having (ie. it was running at 30 FPS), things got grossly misunderstood on my end because things were moving too quickly. It's quite interesting how something so simple can dramatically alter an experience, and therefore the interpretation.
Essentially, you have a gun (left mouse button) and a teleporter/telefrag gun (right mouse button), and you recharge the teleporter by killing an enemy. When you teleport into an enemy, you kill it and gain it's ability. It's very satisfying to get into the groove of one-shotting an enemy to recharge your teleporter, and then teleporting into an enemy (so, another kill there) - and then rinse and repeat.
Pros:
+The price point is too low
+Very addicting
+At first it seems that controller support is needed here, but it's not that kind of thing unfortunately
+Steam leaderboards
Cons:
-I wish the mouse cursor would lock onto the screen - it frequently goes to my other screen which is problematic
-While the dev just added a larger mouse cursor, I could do with an even bigger third option
-The game could seriously use a tutorial that spoon feeds the mechanics
Great game and I highly recommend to anyone who finds themselves perusing the store page.
This may look like a simple arcade shooter, but beneath is a chasm of difficulty and excitement. Overall the game is extremely enjoyable and a good way to spare a few hours, or even simply to play during queue times for any competitive multiplayer games you enjoy.
When it comes to gameplay, NEO NEO surpasses expectations. Simple and easy to learn controls leads to a great gameplay loop. The only thing I find frustrating in the gameplay is I occasionally miss when I try to warp kill, but I am absolutely certain that it is because of the game's incredibly fast speed. Not only are you having to defend yourself against multiple enemies while trying to reach the end of the level, a death wall is also approaching behind you keeping you at the pace the game wants you to play at. Simply put, the gameplay is like Hotline Miami if you weren't allowed to stop moving.
Although the visuals are fairly basic, they provide a great atmosphere to the game. The colours are appealing, including an effect where the screen occasionally gets slightly distorted. Although the screen is incredibly busy and full of information, I have no trouble recognising when enemies are killed and what type of weapon they hold. The only downside to the visuals is I barely take in what score I'm at during the run, but again I suspect that is because of the fast-paced gameplay.
The music is also simple, but effective. You don't need anything too extraordinary. Just something to keep a beat and quick enough to help represent that speed you want for the game. If it sold the soundtrack seperately, I would probably buy it.
A great start to a first time developer. I would very much like to see what else this dev is capable of.
Highly recommended for those who like difficult games where you are not constrained by how much time you need to put into it.
