Extremely low effort.
Maps are made out of a single tile for the most part, plus one slightly different tile for the start tile, one for the exit tile, one for the mid-level objective tile (it either refills your energy or gives you ammo), and ONE WHOLE non-enemy object: what you see in the store page screenshots is not a single level, the whole game looks exactly like that with no meaningful variations.
With a single exception, every level is either about finding the exit or about finding the mid-level objective first then finding the exit: the mid-level objectives are always mandatory by the way, you NEED to get the ammo pickup to move on even if you're already well stocked and you NEED to use the energy refill tile to move on even if you're full on energy.
The single exception is the level in which you have to find the cat, which plays out just like any of the ammo pickup levels.
Enemy variety is pretty good, I think it's 8 different types in total, but the only viable strategy is running (well, walking, you can't run in this game) past them to save ammo for the few times in which they end up camping the exit.
Speaking of which, enemies appear to spawn out of thin air in many cases, and I'm not just talking about the enemy that can open portals: you'll be walking down a corridor then suddenly there will be 3 alien eggs around you, stuff like that.
Weapon variety is much worse: one weapon with ammo, one weaker weapon that uses energy for when you run out of ammo, and "stasis" mines that do damage in an area.
The gameplay itself has some interesting ideas, such as the lock on system and the cat regenerating your energy when you escort it, but as a whole it can't salvage a campaign that boils down to 55 minutes of walking and 5 minutes of shooting.
And then there's the absolutely incomprehensible things:
Why is the walk speed so painfully slow?
Why is the mid-level ammo objective indicated to you while the mid-level energy objective not indicated in any way, and you'll have to figure it out yourself once you find the exit and it doesn't work?
Why are the vast majority of the crew logs placed directly on top of the exit, making them literally impossible to miss?
Why have the "stasis" mine accompanied by a log that tells you about the alien stasis tech and how you can use the mine to slow them, if it doesn't actually slow them in any way and just deals damage as if it was a normal mine?
Why can you sometimes replenish energy way past its cap (the UI won't indicate it properly, but you'll see it stick to 100% for minutes instead of decaying with time as normal), and why sometimes you can't?
Why is there experience and level ups that seem to affect nothing at all?
Why did this game need a custom EULA that doesn't contain anything besides the usual legalese boilerplate, some of which doesn't even apply to the game?
game is pretty cool. cool horror vibes and p simple but good gameplay. i'd say give it a try if you're okay with walking a lot. (i'm impatient, so that didn't exactly hit with me)
quit my run though because i lost the cat via some strange collision glitch. sux.
also no windowed mode
i'd still at least give it a try still.
Limited ammo on a ship infested with alien scum. The only way out is through....and don't forget the cat.
Alien boiled down to its basic elements - facehuggers, androids, aliens, and saving Jonesy the cat. Atmospheric as balls and well worth the 2 quid asking price.

At a first glance of the content provided on the steam page you might seem to think this game already looks kind of boring and bland to you. Just wait because I have to tell you that this game is much better then what it looks like. As soon as you kick in to the game you can already tell this developer is looking to make a professional and fun little arcade game. It has various enemies to kill and many different objectives to accomplish. There are also randomized maps that make the game unique every time and two game modes to make the fun last longer. There isn't a lot of music which is what I am slightly disappointed in, but the music that is offered such as the menu music fits the game really well. The last little quirk I have with this game is it seems some-what slow or that in between walk times there isn't much to do, but watch your character walk which can get boring sometimes. Other than those few cons I still think that this game is a great little fun arcade game to play and I could see that this game has some good potential to add some more great content and ideas!
