Sagebrush is a short-form first-person narrative adventure about exploring the compound of an apocalyptic Millenialist cult in remote New Mexico years after they collectively took their lives in a mass suicide event.
In Sagebrush, you'll investigate the long-abandoned Black Sage Ranch, the former home of Perfect Heaven, an apocalyptic cult formed in the early 1990s under the guiding hand of the prophet Father James.
Inspired by Real-World Apocalyptic Cults
Based on extensive research into cult groups both famous and obscure, large and small, Sagebrush avoids simplistic motivations and easy answers. The members of the Flock are diverse and complex people with varied needs, hopes, and fears. An Immersive, Lo-Fi 3D World
Sagebrush features an evocative low-poly, low-resolution, less-is-more art style that combines retro aesthetics with modern technology, along with a fully-realized soundscape and an original ambient musical score that immerses you in the remote New Mexico desert.A Whole Compound to Explore
Black Sage Ranch is yours to wander, from the trailers that housed the cultists, to the halls where they gathered for food and prayer, to the old mines that stretch out below the compound, untouched for nearly a century.Uncover the Real Story
Find notes, recordings, and belongings that give insight into the people who lived at Black Sage Ranch. What did they believe? Why did they join? Were they happy? And why did they choose to end it all?Estimated Playtime: 60-120 minutes

This is a real banger, everything about this game is really amazing : the story, ambiance, music and the graphic style
This is a short indie narrative game styled like a PS1 game. It's a very unique and tragic setting for a video game that I've never seen before, this story will certainly stick with me for a lot longer than I played it.

Yeah it's aight - one of them games where you put on semi sad music, walk mindless, and think about life while you do so.
A wonderful atmospheric spooky afternoon without a monster chasing you or some other nuisance. Just you and the tragedy
A short little walking simulator, with narrative told mainly through documents and audio diaries. The cult setting is more serious and realistic than most explorations of the topic; the horror is in the reality of it rather than any supernatural spooks, and the subject is handled empathetically and maturely rather than as a cheesy trope. Veers into psychological/religious horror, especially towards the end.
Gameplay is very simple, as expected from a walking simulator, but the movement isn't too tedious. I guess the biggest strike against it here would be that, despite the impression that you can explore at your leisure, progress is extremely linear: most buildings are locked up, and the key is in a previous area, which is itself locked until you get the key from the area before that, and so on. Very little replay value except for achievement hunting, but at this price point I'd say that's okay.
I was looking for an eerie walking sim/puzzle game for Halloween, and this one hit the mark. It’s a story about investigating a Southwest cult leader, using the game’s format to pull you into the mundane yet eerie life within a cult. Often, it’s hard to imagine what daily life in a cult is like, but this game presents it effectively. The lo-fi graphics add to the unsettling vibe without becoming too intense. My only complaint is that some scenes get extremely dark—I had to double the brightness just to see clearly toward the end.
One of the best narrative adventures you can play. A delightfully lo-fi aesthetic, some good puzzle solving, an effective story told through non-linear progression, and decent voice acting - it's all there. The game is fun to explore, while at the same time getting done quite quickly with no busywork. This game feels like an under-the-radar gem that people will continue to uncover and discover years from now.
Nice little short narrative game. Good for an evening when you just want to start and finish something quick.
Short but interesting, referencing real events if I understand correctly, and very immersive.
Interesting little game. As a Christian, I thought it handled the idea of a cult pretty well. I'd recommend if you want a short mystery experience.
