About the Game
After two hundred years, Doctor Frankenstein’s legacy will reach a whole new level!
Now everyone can go on a discovery quest taking place in a Victorian mansion, where the task is to solve the greatest mystery of Dr. Frankenstein. The game makes innovative use of Virtual Reality with a well-known hidden object model and crafting simulations combined with the fight against time. Placing these mechanisms in a world inspired by the novels about Dr. Frankenstein provides a unique gameplay in a dynamic world full of adventures. The more we learn about the mad scientist's experiment, the more frightening and mysterious the story becomes.
The game is completely immersive thanks to detailed surroundings. From a huge whale’s skeleton to a tiny vial - everything is highly refined to bring about the most realistic of experiences. What’s more, weather conditions affect lighting and reflections, resulting in a dynamic environment becoming more and more dramatic further into stages of gameplay. The scenario and main characters are only based on the novel by Mary Shelley and combined with our own original ideas. Rather than showing the theatrical version of Frankenstein’s story we have created our own, beyond the time, universe.

The Story
What if I told you I could take you to a place like no other? No, not a world of fantasy or a faraway land. I can show you a place where the ethics and restraints of social rules do not apply. Where your mind and imagination can be infinite, where your deeds are not subject to judgment. It’s all about time. Time doesn’t care about anything. It’s indifferent to humanity. It passes aimlessly. Why? Because only we, humans, perceive it this way. But here… here it has a life of its own, it creates its unique world. A place where time is only a moving image of the surroundings. Home to the most powerful Artifact and the place where the Monster is born.
Take part in the discovery quest of Dr. Frankenstein’s mansion, where all the items, furnishings and decorations remain intact after the his death. Your task is to solve Dr. Frankenstein's greatest mystery. In many places around the house you will find old notes and sketches, which, together, will show you the way to master the time. The more you learn about Dr. Frankenstein's experiment, the more frightening and mysterious the story becomes. The Artifact has created a time loop and it constantly affects the surroundings - everything you move, returns to its previous spot after the loop closes. The only way to break the loop is to finish the current stage before the Artifact activates again.
Abandon all understanding of time as known to humanity. Go on an adventure in a place where nothing changes unless you make it. When you get there, your senses will suddenly stop. Dr. Frankenstein’s deranged thoughts will haunt your mind. The only thing that will matter is to finish his last masterpiece. People crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who actually do. Become the time master and carry on Dr. Frankenstein’s legacy!

Do not buy, the game is broken and crashes on launch.
meh. broken software, devs never even bothered to look at it, just went and bought their tickets ( with your money and mine) for their flight over to the Bahamas. Don't waste you money or hard drive space.
Cant play it. Just crashes back to vr home as soon as I open it. i9 9900 2080ti 32gig
Nice looking visuals and sounds.
but unrefined interactions, such as trying to grab an object and having to try again and again.
I haven't gotten very far mission wise but started exploring the house.
If it's on sale cheap why not?
Very jittery. Not clear what the objectives are, and honestly, not very engaging. However, good detail in the images. It is pretty.
Game is an unplayable stuttery reprojection mess for me even at 1.0 scaling with a 4.4Ghz i7 and an overclocked 1080Ti.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
So, even as a HOG (hidden-object game), this title is quite different. You have a compass here that basically tells you where the items are. Even so, it can be difficult to locate the items just due to the nature of VR and the timer. However, once you find the item you can just memorize where they were and the whole section becomes trivial on any repeated tries.
This game does have free locomotion, but no real turning. You can reset view and you'll be facing the direction you reset by pressing down on the joystick. The environment is absolutely unique and breath-taking with lots of original assets. In case it's not obvious, game is set in an alternate universe Dr. Frankenstein, Time Lord. Your job is to find the hidden objects.
Unfortunately, the gameplay just doesn't feel smooth. It's like the entire budget went into the environment & 3D artists. Grabbing & storing items just isn't intuitive. It took usually a few tries to grab small items. I had no idea if you could give items to your robot fiendish creation, but I just decided it was better to walk back and forth with the item in my hand. Either way, it would have made more sense just to have auto-store or a backpack to put things in.
The animations were well-done. The ambient sounds and music were also top notch. The voice acting was above average and there is an interesting story in theory, but the gameplay is pretty dull. A beautiful paint job doesn't cover up the basic gameplay. In the end, at least in this HOG, the gameplay is more tedious than challenging.
I think it would have been better if they had like a tracker system with a louder sound as you got closer to the hidden object. That would make it more fun & immersive finding the hidden object, rather than having a simple compass that you just follow the direction then look all around. Another idea is just to have all the objects in one room that you have to find (without the compass), rather than having to traverse the whole mansion with that darn compass.
Sale Price Rating 5/10. Honestly, I would have given a negative review if I had paid more than the $7 I did in the Steam Winter Sale 2018.
Not well optimized, hit detection wonky, timed 'hunt and fetch' quests that you'll have to restart if one of your items goes missing because of said hit detection throwing it somewhere. Wanted to like it but more frustrating then fun
Recommended if on sale. Buy it for the graphics and ambiance, but not for the game or mechanics which are terrible.
The textures, models, mist, atmospherics, and overall ambiance of the game are beautiful and immersive.
The physics, locomotion, bugs, and non-intuitive mechanics are frustrating and sometime unplayable. I gave up on the minigames, and just explored the house by breaking down the board-covered doorways with my invisible (due to a bug) ax.
I hope they make some serious changes to bring the controls and mechanics in line with best VR practices, and work out the bugs. Until then, it isn't worth full price, IMO.
Not worth $20 or even the $10 I paid for it. Refund pending. Several hallmarks of poor game design, interacting with the world feels clunky & breaks 20-30% of the time, no real gameplay value. You're in a house. Pick up items and put them in a tub. When all items are in tub, make battery and pull lever to see admittedly creative characters. Every 10 minutes or so, house resets, along with your progress. Feels like cheap Unity shovelware. Get a free novelty game and get the same experience for an appropriate price.
To the dev's credit, the lore is fairly fleshed out and lots of detail was put into the house & creatures. If you want to play a story and don't mind some weird physics, you may enjoy it.
YMMV, but if the game seems to freeze on first load I think that's normal. You'll see it before it's done loading on your screen mirror and SteamVR may indicate it's not responding. Give it more time than seems appropriate and it should eventually load up in your headset.
In this game you wander around the home/lab of Dr Frankenstein collecing parts ro rebuild his creature. You are navigated to them by way of a compass on your wrist and there is a time limit, Fail, and you have to start over.
This game has stunning graphics, but needs a lot of tweaking... Pick something up and you find yourself shaking your controller to try and put it down (and I wasn't playing in sticky fingers mode). You can accidentally teleport through walls, and some objects dropped break moments after hitting a surface. A required object (some wire) kept leaving my grip everytime I entered the lab from another room and returning to where I found it which ate into the time limit considerably. Bottles in the corner kept rattling which is annoying when you are trying not to disturb a spirit ready to rob you of time if she hears you in your search. Free locomotion and teleport took flipping between the two to get them to activate and jogging mode doesn't seem to work at all? I opened up a drawer (they stick too!) and was flung through a wall, while the contents remained suspended in mid air.
I think the gameplay is a little limited as all this happens to be is just a navigated game of fetch running against the clock. And when objects sticking to your grip only hamper your efforts it can be frustrating.
And it takes forever to load.... which could be forgiven, it's kind of worth the wait. The end sequence takes awhile and I thought the game had stalled halfway through it, buts it was just more loading time.
I'm going to recommend it only in the hopes that the developers fix the glitchiness of the experience sometime soon. If the mechanics matched the graphics it could be a interesting way to pass some time, short though it may be.

Frankenstein: Beyond the Time is a hidden object game. It takes place in Frankenstein's mansion and you have to find various ingrediants in order to rebuild his monster! Each part you complete requires more items to be found. If you can't find them as time expires, they return to their place and you can go again.
Pros:
Atmosphere - the mansion looks great and there are plenty of creaks and objects to keep you on your toes.
Concept - not a lot like this in VR!
Story - great use of Frankenstein in a way that hasn't been done. Can't wait to see where the story goes.
Cons:
Optimization - the game jutters on low settings and was unplayable for me on high settings
Repitition - It's basically the same thing over and over again but with a longer list of items to find.
Price - Currently too high for what the game offers
I'm currently reccomending the game because I think it's off to a good start. That said, there needs to be more variance in the gameplay and/or the price needs to be adjusted. We'll see where this early access game develops!
Game can be better! Veri immersive! Scale of the room is so good!
But its game for childs... So probably if you adult you will not like it...
Pros: Graphics, may be story (cos i am borred and will never finish this game)
Con: Buggy, pure optimization, still need alot to work with grab objects, to repetitive... time to fishish...
Not good option for pressing a sticks for Oculus...
Also shold be better just have teleport and walking options at same time.
if you like go there take that put it there style... may be its for you.
The game it salf is kind boring because you need to make to much repetitive stuf...
