You and your environmentalist crabs are pushing the blocks that are washed up to the beach and arranging them into squares in the middle to score points and keep your beaches clean. The square areas will be filled with water, and you need to keep expanding to earn more points. If you don't pick up the blocks fast enough before the wave pushes another block, those blocks will clash and cause pollution. Three pollutions will end the game. You can wait for the timer to buy you more time and probably a cannon to shoot on the square area that you wanted to make space. Or even an explosive block that can explode the squares.
The challenging part is you can't drag your block to pass those areas with blocks or squares in the middle. Another difficult part is as you keep building squares in the middle, and when those squares keep disappearing after a specific time, the remaining blocks (outside of the square area) will become like a wall and take up spaces. While you are scrambling for a place to fit the current block on a specific grid area, another block is probably clashing with a different block on the ocean. The game gets more challenging as you progress further.
It's a game about environmentalist crabs that want to clean their home - the beach. The interactive tutorials clearly clarify how to play the game and what special features appear in the game. There are various modes and speed you can try. You can try the chilled mode to familiarise yourself with the game, or you would prefer the time attack to pump up your heart rate. It's very challenging but also it's addictive.
Sometimes, I wonder why I'm so useless that I can't even build a simple square, but when I can make one, I'm too slow to expand the square further.
An excellent and unique puzzle game. I love the beach aesthetic!
Nice relaxing summer vibe puzzle game. It’s a nice effort to create a Tetris beater. The goal is to move the tangram/tetris like blocks to spots on the beach to form squares of minimum 9 tiles to remove them and score points.
There’s a sense of urgency because the blocks you use wash up on the beach and you don’t want too many or else it'll pollute the beach, which will end the game. It gives a bit more freedom in which order you choose blocks instead of being obligated to puzzle with what you get first.
The difficulty lies in that you can’t move across other already placed blocks so you have to keep it as center as possible.
The board gets pretty messy pretty soon with some leftover blocks and because of it it’ll result in barriers you can’t cross with your new blocks. There’s some special items to remove the mess (explosives and cannons) but there are not many and they’re also not effective to small debris laying around. So after a while it’s so messy you’ll end up in a state where you just have to give up. You can also activate a storm mode which makes matters even worse for me. This makes tiles come rapidly but they can’t pollute the beach, so you’re invincible for a short while. I wish there was some special ability to clear the board or at least the sides of the board.
Maybe I’m just bad at the game but I feel it needs some more balancing to make it a game to get hooked on and play for hours on end.
The game has nice sounds, relaxing soundtrack and decent graphics. All and all I had an enjoyable hour, this game certainly deserves attention if you’re a puzzle fan. I would like to have this game on a handheld or something, would be perfect to go for a round once in a while to kill some time.
it's fine
I really love this puzzle game. It is really cute. The concept is great, and it is mechanically sound. There are many features (ex. powers, combos, pollution, etc.) which add tasteful complexity to the game. The game incorporates them nicely and offers comprehensive tutorials so that the player is not confused. The controls are simple. The graphics are clean and pleasing to look at. And I enjoy the soundtrack. I also like that there are multiple different game modes that you can play, depending on whether you are a more casual player or a player who enjoys the sense of competitive challenge and pressure. Overall, I really enjoy this game and its design and would recommend it to any player who enjoys a puzzle game.
I'm in agreement with the other reviews - this a wonderful take on the block-fitting puzzle format.
There are a few bits that might cause confusion which mean although I recommend it I'd love it to be updated slightly. Having had a gap from the game and now updating this review I think it is worth a bit of time on this one item I've highlighted below.
As an example: It's slightly less clear compared to other block games to know exactly when the block will be available to move because the wave motion that brings the blocks in isn't as clear as blocks that abstractly and steadily moving towards the beach. The wave motion is charming and in keeping with the theme of course, and the selection box does change to be brighter, but I'd like it if the block itself underwent a similar metamorphosis. But you get used to it very quickly and it would some of the charm if it was more abstract... but when you're actually playing and in the flow you probably aren't noticing the charm too much.
Anyway, that long paragraph aside, this is a fun little game.
I'm wondering now about a bigger map and co-op (or "co-op") game play :)
I'm really not good at Tetris-like games, but this looked so cute that I wanted to give it a try. It brings a lot of innovation to the theme (I was especially intrigued by the fact that you can't drag pieces "over" other pieces, so if your set gets crowded you have to navigate around the existing ones, which brings an interesting additional layer of strategy) and most of all it makes me smile. I'm absolutely not good at the game, but 10/10 would smile again, and if you like the genre I'm sure you'll love this.
A fiendish puzzle game that takes the tetris formula and then adds something new. Charming and playable with twists on the puzzle genre that will keep you coming back for more.
Love it, reminds me exactly of first time I played Tetris, as in same satisfaction and very few rule that works well, gameplay is as satisfying and challenging.
Tutorials really helps groking the game, and overall atmosphere of is real nice.
We played using the xbox pad and it worked directly out of the box.
Game mechanics is really the thing here, and it feels very polished and smooth, building in complexity when going up, Very impressive for a game studio of 2!
Already long strategy discussion here on how to best fight the leftovers block, use the clock and the storm.
This is a neat little game.
Really fun tetris block style game with lots of little bits of detail that make it a pleasure to play and fun soothing music. Two modes classic (3 strike system) or time trial. Range of difficulties from extremly chilled to frantic with online leaderboards and some fun achievements.
Minor annoyance the block rotation is finicky when squeezing gaps and is hard to predict.
Overall it does what it says on the tin. You should know from the desc if it's your sort of game. Would recommend.
