Clunky, maybe if you'git gud', it'll be fun. Only if you're willing to put in the hours. Also, had crashes and save corruptions too.

It's like Saints Row, Skate, Mirrors's Edge, and Ratchet and Clank combined into one game, and it pulls it off surprisingly well.

Not as popular as Infamous or Spider-Man, but truly underrated banger from Insomniac.
Railgrind and walljump your way through missions with weapons right out on Ratchet and Clank.

Sunset Overdrive is an open world, action game with parkour elements.
I remember playing this game back on the Xbox 360, and playing it now on PC after all these years feels very nostalgic.
The game is all about surviving the apocalypse, but you're doing it all in style. Jump, grind, glide, and stylize on the mutated hordes as you go around completing quests in Sunset city.
The map is Sunset City; a once thriving city, destroyed by an experiment gone wrong. Explore many different districts with their own unique looks and environments.
Traversal in this game is great from either being able to parkour your way to the next objective or if you don't wanna have to go the distance there is fast travel for easy pacing as well.
A ton of collectibles to collect and upgrade your equipment with. Along with a plethora of outfits to choose from and customize your character with.
Main game has plenty of quests and side quests to play through along with replayability to aim for a new high score.
While the base game is a lot fun, there are also a slew of challenges to try your hands at, where you can test test your speed and earn medals on. Totally optional too and not forced to play it if you don't want to.
The Combat is a lot of fun, using parkour you can go around and shoot the monsters in style. That or blow things up. The game has a wide variety of weapons to be earned throughout the playtime so it never gets dull on creative ways to fight the enemies.
The enemies you face against are also very cool as well, from regular monsters, to bandits, and even killer robots. It never gets boring fighting the same thing so much.
The story is great, the DLC's also continue the story and are just as great. Plenty of jokes, 4th wall breaks, and many references to media and pop culture.
Music is good, although there were a few instances where a song would start playing, but would suddenly stop and be met with a long period of silence. Granted doing something like going into combat would do the trick of getting it back up. It rarely happened, so it really didn't ruin the experience. So i'll let it slide.

Overall Sunset Overdrive is a really great and rather underrated game. It's also very nostalgic for someone who played a lot of these games back on the 360 so it has a place in my heart and thumbs up from me. Would i recommend this game to people? Absolutely! Granted it might not be everyone's cup of tea i know, but to those who want to give this game a try, go right on ahead.

wtf... this game back on the xbox one was decent btu i dropped it... ON PC?!?!?!? OMFG THIS IS AMAZING FUN! why tho?

Basically this entire game is a bunch of very poorly veiled excuses to have fun :D
The movement system is super forgiving and gets kinda close to Spider-Man in level of satisfaction.
Your hero is somewhat of a glass cannon, but if you keep moving it never becomes a problem.
Overall not too long and pretty great. Maybe a bit too many collectibles.

Its a fun campy parkour zombie apocalypse game with a lot of fourth wall type of humor and doesnt take itself so seriously. Its a nice break from the more serious games. There is a bug that has to be fixed relating to the steam cloud feature, there is a thread in the forums on how to fix it though.

i absolutely love this game since 2014 from my xbox days, game is an absolute blast and so much fun. The story is interesting and funny. The gameplay is good and satisfying and the world the environment is so colourful. definitely recommend. Also insomniac games please give us a sequel to this. you are already so good at making spiderman.

Amazing level of detail - Has a punk aesthetic and brilliantly sticks to it (Music, animation) - Not an annoying main character - Funny Character Lines and well acted - Cool guns and abilities - Great side activities - Dope story line - Deep Mechanics and a bit hard to master, which makes it more fun when you finally get it!

Would recommend - 10/10. Do play the DLCs, felt short but great content inside.

So I played this on my steam deck. (Even though valve marks it as unsupported) However it does have some issues on the deck that I’ve noticed.
The game gives me a warning everytime I boot it from my steam deck not sure why. It also tells me I’ve corrupted save files when I have never played the game before.
I tried to go into settings on the steam deck and it just crashed so if you are playing on steam deck you’ll have to settle for whatever settings the game pre loads.

The games okay. Reminds me of old school Tony hawk weirdly enough with like timed missions while you’re grinding and jumping around the place. It runs a solid 30fps on steam deck and I’ve yet to try it on my desktop. The humour of the game is that corny type. It’s not a bad thing but kinda reminds me of the saints row reboot. If you can get it cheap why not, it’s fun enough to want me to keep playing.

Do I recommend this game? Certainly, especially if it's on sale. Do I think the game is good? Yeah.

Is it as good as everyone says it is? No, probably not.

The game is fun, and you'll have a blast playing through it the first time. But the game doesn't really have anything new to push you further once you're around 2~3 hours into the game. Traversal although great, doesn't really change from the beginning to the end (except for learning air dash and ground smash).

The game is also stupidly grindy, with 20+ weapon of choice, you would think they'll make weapon leveling faster. But nope, it takes very long, forcing you to keep re-using the same weapon just to push it to the max level. (a bad game design since ratchet & clank 3).

Story is also very flat. Yes, the writing is quite witty, and the protagonist is a smart ass. But it's just a normal servicable story. You should really buy this game just for its gameplay.

Overall, I think Sunset Overdrive is a good game, you'll get hours of enjoyment out of it, but nothing more. And sometimes, maybe that's all you really want as well.

P/S: be aware that the steam version has quite a glitchy auto save bug (where i lost about 15 hours of progress), so if the game tells you there's a corrupted save, just ignore it, if you try to delete that corrupted save, it'll delete your main save file instead. Basically the corrupted save will act as your sacrificial save file

Fuck, this game is so good. It's basically GTA on steroids (quite literally, depending on your character customization choices), infused with polished Jet Grid Radio traversal mechanics and Ratchet & Clank style weapons. It's absolutely beautiful, and the sense of humor is spot on. It succeeds in being self-aware and ironic without being annoying. If this game looks good to you, it won't disappoint.

Where to even start with this game.

A cool funky town that looks like it would be fun to discover and explore but its not. Every collectable is just generic filler time wasting crap you shouldn't even bother with. Gameplay is fun for the first few hours then just becomes the same mindless slog for the rest of the game with the only variety coming in the form of new weapons (most of them feel useless). Some of the unique traversal missions feel incredibly poorly designed and more annoying than anything.

Writing is for the most part extremely boring/lame and definitely feels past its time. Story might as well not exist and characters are just memes with no depth. Soundtrack diversity also feels poor.

The game runs great, so there's that.

The DLCs are more of the same crap imo except the enemies get even more annoying and in the case of the Sea Monster DLC a dogshit final boss fight where the last stage is bugged and you can't reach the boss mouth.

I honestly felt it had a interesting start but quickly realized how shallow everything about this game is and just found it unrewarding by the end.

Awesome game, even though it is old by today's standards it is worth playing. The game play is super fun, the plot is funny and ridiculous and the movement/traversal options are awesome. Definitely a great game!

Great game! Fast, dynamic gameplay, unique, colorful world, great music. I had a great time playing it and completing it. I wish I didn't wait so long to play it.

This was my first time playing and it was amazing the open world was so fun and the movement was some of the best i have ever experienced would recommend 10/10

I had no problems playing this game on Win 10/11. Another game that was overhyped for me, causing me to dislike it more. I found the parkour gimmick really annoying. Got tired of continually pressing F or the spacebar just to move faster. If you factored out the parkour, this is an average game at best. Dialogue was on the juvenile side. I didn't feel a need to go after the different weapons or mods since the default weapons and mods were good enough to beat the game. Got this on sale for $4.99. Rate this 4/10.

I will never NOT glaze this game to death. This is one of the most underrated games of our time. About to start my seventh playthrough bc I will quite literally never get enough of it. Praying that insomniac & sony blesses us with a second game one day.

Hidden Gem. I've wanted to play this for a long time, I bought it in a sale. Great fun, an open world shooter with a surprisingly fun and engaging story. The DLC is good, but not great, worth it if you pick up the bundle for a decent price.

Originally played through the entire game on console, fell in love with it, granted, Its a little `more` broken on PC but still fun nonetheless.

It's a textbook hidden gem and an underrated game. So much fun that I had to 100% it right away. Art direction, humor, music, traversal, weapons, customization... perfect blend. Also, it's got that early 2000s unfiltered and careless vibe which "scratches that itch" for me who grew up during that time. They just don't make them like this anymore. Give us a sequel!

Não achei o pvp desse jogo, no linux fica uma porra e fecha o jogo o tempo todo, fora isso é bom e simples o conceito, não vale 30 pila, mas vale 9 em promoção. Do caralho, recomendo, o jogo não tem vergonha na cara de falar que ele é simples e retardado.

Easily the most underrated game of my lifetime. Absolutely loved this as a kid on my Xbox One but I've literally never heard it brought up anywhere or even heard of someone else playing the game. Deadpool style humour two years before Deadpool came out which is goated and fantastic gameplay

Easiest reccommend of my life when it's on sale for 5 euro. Replaying it fully for the first time in about 8 years right now.

Highly recommended. This game is so fun to play, the traversal and weapon customisation are very good. You can also customise your character (M or F) and it also offers great outfits and skins. Characters are very interesting and alive. Voice acting is very good overall. Open world looks so colourful and it is beautifully designed for traversal. Definitely a must play for third person shooter fans.

I absolutely love this game for the gameplay and art direction. Especially the latter cuz I rarely even see that in games, even of this caliber.

Basically Ratchet and Clank meets Crackdown but the humour is more adult and far more entertaining.
Would highly recommend playing this game.

The best traversal in gaming. Sunset City is gorgeous and a character itself. Everything about this game screams FUN. The soundtrack is unabashedly optimistic. The characters have heart. The story is a good time, padding at a minimum and main/side quest that are a joy to play. Sunset Overdrive knows when to give an encore and when to play the last song on a great note giving an experience full of awesomeness to remember. One of my all time favorite games, man ten years later and still unmatched.

Returned to this a few years ago and fell in love. From the fourth wall breaking style, to the punk rock vibe, this is one one of my favorite games. The are a few problem I understand, like the final boss was lackluster. It's cool to fight an entire building, but it has no interesting mechanics like the other bosses, except for climbing it. Over all 8/10

Peak Insomniac. A grown up Ratchet and Clank, hilarious and addictive. Once you master the movement it's hard to put down.

Weird frame pacing issues on this port but once you get used to it it's fine, also anti aliasing does fuck all. Plays pretty perfectly on Deck too!

All i wanted was to replay it at 60Fps but looks like it'll remain an Xbox only game for me.
It is a Great game otherwise and still recommend it IF you get lucky and have no issues or if you can play it on an Xbox and 30fps doesn't bother you.

Sunset Overdrive is what people could only hope their apocalypse looks like - a vibrant world of fast-paced, traversal-centred combat with mutants, gangs, and robots!

While there is a story, it isn't all that deep - it primarily serves to push the player into fun encounters. If you want a rich story, this isn't the game for you.

The real MVP is the game-play. There is little more satisfying a thing to do than grind, vault, and bounce around the world as you shoot at whatever enemies are in your way - all the while a combo meter builds up, and up, and up in the top right giving you abilities that make it all the easier to kill even more enemies, and an absolutely dope soundtrack to boot. If you can keep up, it's a positive loop of dopamine inducing awesomeness.

My only complaint about the game is that it just doesn't feel that long - including both free DLCs, it's only about 15-20 hours long, which left me really wanting for more....
Unfortunately, we probably won't ever get that "more" as this game was sorely underrated when it first came out (meaning Sony has no incentive to greenlight a sequel), and it's stuck in publishing rights hell with Microsoft.

Having said all that, it would be dishonest of me not to mention the technical issues. This isn't the best port, and it does have graphical and stability issues on some systems. I'd recommend checking out the Sunset Overdrive article on "PC Gaming Wiki" if you run into any issues, including their community tools.

Additionally, if you see anything about "corrupted save files" when you boot - DO NOT DELETE OR OVERWRITE THE ""CORRUPTED"" SAVE!
All that will do is corrupt your actual save and then crash the game - plus the error will come back when you reboot the game. If you want to be safe from accidentally nuking your save, follow the "PC Gaming Wiki" guide.
Once you've done that, just ignore the error on start-up, don't touch the "corrupt" save, and play normally.

TLDR - For the £15 it's currently priced at, buy it - even with the relatively short length and bugs, you'll get your money's worth of fun!
Though do yourself a favour and visit the "PC Gaming Wiki" so you don't end up mucking youself up.

Honestly this game is loads of fun, love the gameplay, guns, and traversal a whole lot. If I didn't know already that this game is 10 years old I'd be super surprised to find out.

The story is whatever. Also comedy is subjective but I found the games humor enjoyable and while I never laughed out load the game got a couple chuckles out of me.

The part of this game that will always stand out is just the endless creativity that eases out of the details, designs, and world itself. Really enjoyed the times I spent in it and besides the achievement to get 20 guns to level 5 the achievements were also all fun to get.

this is my 3rd time buying this game and its worth it every single time. this game shaped me a person and has advanced my humor, music taste , and standards. i thank insomniac everyday for this game, good story, decent graphics,fun play-style, super grind worthy. love sunset overdrive, ill never forget it.
