[Scene: The penguins of Madagascar's HQ. Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, and Private are gathered around a computer. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are visiting. The penguins are in their usual military-like formation while Holmes and Watson look intrigued.]
Skipper: Alright, team, listen up! We've got a new mission: a game called "Future Proof." We’re stuck in a 12-minute time loop and need to solve puzzles to save a town from a meteor. Everyone ready?
Private: Ready, Skipper! But, um, what if we get stuck?
Holmes: Never fear, young Private. With our combined intellects, we shall unravel these mysteries with ease. Dr. Watson, prepare yourself for temporal sleuthing!
Watson: Jolly good, Holmes. Let’s see what this digital adventure has in store for us.
Kowalski: Analyzing gameplay mechanics... The puzzles require logic, creativity, and sometimes sheer luck. We’ll need to interact with the townspeople to gather clues.
Rico: (Grunts) Puzzle! Boom! (Pulls out a stick of dynamite)
Skipper: Easy there, Rico. Save the explosives for when we really need them. Now, let’s get cracking!
[The screen shows the game's introduction and the first puzzle: fixing a broken clock.]
Private: Look, it’s a broken clock! Maybe we need to find the missing gears?
Holmes: Elementary, my dear Private. The clock symbolizes our temporal predicament. We must restore it to progress.
Skipper: Kowalski, what’s the intel?
Kowalski: According to the NPCs, the gears are scattered throughout the town. We need to interrogate—I mean, ask—the residents.
[They split up to gather clues. The penguins and detectives reconvene.]
Watson: I spoke with a peculiar fishmonger who heard strange ticking noises near the library.
Private: I found a gear in the sandbox at the park! Almost got buried by a cat, though.
Holmes: Excellent work, Private. Skipper, what did you find?
Skipper: The baker mumbled something about the gears being part of a bigger mechanism. Seems like we need more than just gears to fix the clock.
[They gather the necessary gears and assemble the clock. The screen flashes, indicating progress.]
Kowalski: The clock is fixed, but we have another puzzle: decrypting a coded message.
Holmes: A coded message, you say? (Examines the code) Ah, a simple substitution cipher. The key is in the town's history. Rico, pass me the historical records.
Rico: (Grunts) Cipher! Boom! (Accidentally hits a button, revealing a hidden compartment with the code’s key.)
Watson: Well done, Rico. Accidental brilliance, but brilliance nonetheless.
Skipper: Great job, team. Let’s keep this momentum going.
[They solve the next puzzles with a mix of teamwork and comedic mishaps.]
Holmes: These puzzles are devilishly clever. They demand a blend of logic, creativity, and occasionally, sheer madness.
Private: And the mysteries! Every time loop reveals more secrets. It’s like peeling an onion.
Watson: Indeed. And each layer makes my eyes water.
Skipper: Alright, boys, one last push. Let’s solve this final puzzle and save the town.
[Holmes suddenly adopts a dramatic stance, preparing for his famous "discombobulate" speech.]
Holmes: (In a deep, dramatic voice) First, analyze the game’s mechanics. Recognize the time loop. Predict the next move. Click on the gears. Discombobulate.
Watson: (Looking confused) Holmes, are you alright?
Holmes: (Ignoring Watson, continues with dramatic flair) Perform deduction. Utilize intuition. Solve the cipher. Correct the clock. Discombobulate.
Watson: (Trying to follow along) Are you talking about the game?
Holmes: Precisely, Watson. Embrace the time loop. Unearth the hidden gears. Locate the codes. Discombobulate.
Watson: (Sighs) Alright, Holmes. Let's save that town.
Holmes: With all pieces gathered, we solve the final puzzle. Meteor averted. Victory attained. Discombobulate.
[They work together to solve the last puzzle, narrowly saving the town from the meteor. The game ends with a celebratory screen.]
Kowalski: We did it. All 15 endings unlocked.
Holmes: Bravo, everyone. A testament to our combined intellect and comedic timing.
Watson: Quite right, Holmes. That was thoroughly enjoyable.
Skipper: Good work, team. Now, what’s next on our agenda?
Rico: (Grunts) Next! Boom! (Accidentally sets off a confetti cannon)
[Everyone laughs as confetti rains down and the screen fades to black.]
[End Scene]
X-Future Files: Mulder's Digital Odyssey
Mulder strides purposefully into the dimly lit office, a glint of excitement in his eyes as he approaches Scully, who sits behind her desk, immersed in paperwork.
Mulder: Scully, I've got something big. I can feel it in my bones.
Scully looks up from her work, raising an eyebrow at Mulder's usual enthusiasm.
Scully: Mulder, what's this urgent idea of yours now?
Mulder: Picture this, Scully. A game. "Future Proof." You're caught in a 12-minute time loop, racing against the clock to save a town from a catastrophic meteor impact!
Scully: (Skeptical) A time loop? Sounds like déjà vu.
Mulder: Ah, but each loop is a chance to uncover new clues, solve intricate puzzles, and unearth the town's deepest secrets. It's like unraveling a cosmic conspiracy!
Scully: And you think players will buy into this?
Mulder: Absolutely! It's a journey of discovery, Scully. With every loop, they'll delve deeper into the unknown. Think of it as a digital X-File.
Scully: (Amused) So, what's the hook for replay value?
Mulder: Endless possibilities! Multiple endings—15 to be exact! Each choice, each action, alters the course of the game. The truth is out there, Scully, and so is our success.
Scully: (Smirking) Alright, Mulder. But it better not be too far-fetched.
Mulder: (With a reminiscent smile) Remember those cases, Scully? The ones where we faced mutant flukes and encountered shape-shifting aliens? "Future Proof" might not be as outlandish, but it captures that nostalgic essence of uncovering the inexplicable.
Scully: (Nodding) I see what you mean, Mulder. It's like revisiting our old adventures in a new, digital format.
Mulder: Exactly, Scully! It's a homage to our past investigations, a chance for players to experience the thrill of the unknown in a familiar yet refreshing way.
Scully: (Grinning) Well, Mulder, let's hope this game doesn't lead players down too many rabbit holes.
Mulder: (Chuckling) Don't worry, Scully. I'll make sure the truth is always within reach, even in the digital realm.
Scully watches Mulder leave the office, a fond smile tugging at her lips. As she returns to her paperwork, she can't help but feel a sense of nostalgia for the countless mysteries they've unraveled together—and the countless more waiting to be discovered in the world of "Future Proof."
Basically Donnie Darko meets Earthbound, with plenty of clever puzzles and multiple routes. A joy for us, 90s nostalgic.
It is really a shame that such a gem has not received more attention...
A short-and-sweet little exploration puzzle game. Satisfying, only a couple of small places where either I didn't get the logic of the puzzle, and a couple more where I got the logic after guessing or accidentally triggering the solution.
I did have to poke around on the discussion forums for one hint, pointing me back at some text I had overlooked or forgotten about previously.
If the developer is reading this: Only one typo I noticed, the Project Z conveyor belt has "Inpsect" as an action.
Genre:
☐ Something Terrible Happened To This Sad Child
☐ Something Is Horribly Wrong In This Space Station

This is a very underrated gem of a game.
It's actually pretty cool, and deserves more appreciation.
You play as 14-year-old Sean, who by chance lives in a town... that's about to be destroyed by a falling meteorite. With the one and only road out of town destroyed by a fragment of the meteor, Sean is stuck.
...However, in the classic "Groundhog's Day" trope, Sean keeps re-living the 12 minutes before the meteorite crash. With 15 possible endings, it's up to you to piece together the secrets of the town, and find a way to save Sean (and preferably his crush, Laura, too).
I won't lie, this game doesn't joke around with the puzzles. You have to really pay attention to the environment, looking for anything that seems odd. You may need to think outside the box to figure out things like passwords.
Fortunately, Sean remembers clues, which you can bring up at any time.
Additionally, as a time-saver, once you've completed certain objectives once, upon re-starting a loop, the game offers to let you auto-complete that objective instantly, in exchange for a little time off the 12-minute time limit.
I'd love to go on in more detail, but honestly, it'd be going into spoiler territory, which would just kill the fun for you.
Suffice to say: For it's price of $3, or if you like thinking games, then yes, I'd definitely recommend trying this game.
After more than 3 hrs of gameplay and having discovered 3 of 15 (!) possible endings I thought I'd just have to write something about this little indie gem that I recently discovered in a sale. Just to mention right away: I didn't experience any crashes or bugs.
Being caught in a loop you have 12 minutes to save yourself, your friends, your town from being extinguished by a meteor. What will you do first? Explore the city? Find others that want (or don't want) to be saved? Do several runs! Find different possibilities to escape, discover secrets that will lead you to totally unexpected endings!
Being a huge fan of scriptwelder's games just as well as the Kindergarten series I'm totally into this stuff and cannot believe this indie gem passed me by when it was released almost two years ago. If you can deal with time management and rather challenging puzzles I'm sure you'll feel well entertained trying out this title - even at full price.
This is one of those games that seem pretty simple, maybe even cheap, at first glance...
And thats exactly what it is - but it does not mean that its not fun! Those of you who like casual, small puzzle games, where you have to make yourself some notes here and there, or games that are so enriched with little details that reveal the full extent of the game only after repeatedly playing through... Those ones will most probably like this one! And in addition to that, there's this special "Donnie Darko"-atmosphere that resonates from this game... Something I would not have expected from this little piece of code lol.
A nice game with interesting puzzles, lots of discoveries, crazy-cool story, stylish humour, cute graphics, great sounds and much fun! The concept is unusual and creates quite unique gameplay. Totally didn't expect to get into it this much. Got a bit lazy and ended up looking up hints online after 6 hours, to finish off all the endings, though.
P.S. Hat. All the hats.
It's quite good. I don't really need to explain much since the premise is already clear. The town will be hit by a meteor in 12 minutes (of real time), it's up to you to deal with it, over and over again. And there's mutliple ways to deal with it. Or what's considered "dealing" with it.
A nice thing is that there's in-game "thought" notes, a quest journal, so you don't actually have to pick up what you were doing last time, since there's a lot of stuffs you might want to try in the 12 min before the meteor crashes.
Fun little puzzle game, and I love the story/different endings!
there are endings/puzzles which are very obvious and some which needs some brain power to connect the dots, but easily solved by wandering around this neat village.
Worth the price, would love to play this sort of game again.
This a great beautiful game. I don't think the puzzles are as hard as some people say. I've found Myst or Broken Sword puzzles to be more difficult. Well, I've yet only found one ending though and I'm indeed stuck at some puzzle involving redirecting lasers now.
Very good enjoyable game. A good gift also as I think a lot of different persons can enjoy this game.
I'm not sure this was the game I was searching for, but I'm super glad I found it. The puzzles are generally good and the hints of journaled thoughts are an actually useful mechanic compared to the journals I've experienced in other games.
There are more than a dozen endings. Each with its own humor and music. I wish the ending music kicked in earlier.
I've had a good chunk of fun exploring this world and it was definitely worth it. I wish it more success. You should play it too.
Fun and challenging game. Only discovered a handful of what it has to offer. Love the mysterious feel to the game. Definitely worth a play.
Very fun game. It's pretty hard and still fun to figure out every thing you can do. If you get stuck don't give up, you will find it soon
and when you do it's very rewarding.
This game is impressive. That's the first word came to my mind to describe it. How much I love it is not even regardless time travel (and I love time travel), but the incredible charm of all the secrets. I mean, everything has a logic and nothing seems useless to achieve an ending and this blows your mind.
This game gave me a flashback to my childhood - when I encountered a puzzle I couldn't solve, I ventured to the Steam guides... only to find that there aren't any. I then googled for walkthroughs... but there weren't any. No hints, no tips, no achievement guides, and for a game that has 14 different endings and fiendishly clever puzzles. So I gifted it to my bf and we've been happily puzzling our way through this hidden gem of a game for the past few days, helping each other and making notes on paper like it's 1995.
This game is clever, creepy, funny, and doesn't hold your hand. If you like puzzles, this is a must-buy. I have no idea why it is not better known.
It's a fine little game, well worth the price. The graphics though basic are nicely done and the gameplay is well thought out.
That's an amazing game! I haven't seen such a good quest/adventure in a looong time. Playing about 3 hours and unlocked only 2 endings yet...
This is a hidden gem of a game, the dialouge is funny, and the overall plot set's up a great intrigue, the puzzles are intuitive and often avoid typical adventure game pitfalls (I.e. a protagonist with wild kleptomania) , whilst not being to easy and laid out, a bloody brilliant game that deserves more attention
Surprised to see so few reviews. This game is fun and quirky, definitely worth the price. Filled with charm.
I'm new to this type of puzzle adventure styled game. But I quickly became a fan of Future Proof.
I was especially surprised by the replay value of this game. You would think dying over and over again would make you want to stop playing, but I found my self more curious with each time Sean died in an unexpected way.
I have only completed 2 endings and after reading there is a total of 14 I'm very interested in finding the rest.
I would definitely recommend this game to anyone that is a fan of the genre.
