Step Three: Swim to an island because the server always spawns you a minute from land.
Step Four: Harvest some Fiber.
Step Five: Harvest some Wood
Step Five: Run because there are 10 snakes chasing you.

Step Nine: Find Water "Finally" but you're almost dead from dehydration and being half eaten by the islands overrun with snakes.

Dead, broken game, it used to be good, now you cant even bring up the map without crashing (yes i verified files). Shame, it was a really good game.

Mostly played this game on private servers with some farm boost on to get more progress in less time and get to the sea fights faster against other groups or the big End boss of the sea. It's a lot of fun you can rage war on land, on sea against each other or against NPC's if you do not like to fight PVP. The sky is the limit, also roleplay is possible what is allot of fun too! In short, If you play this with a group, you can have allot of fun very quick, if you go play solo you need to find people to play with on the server because a solo mission is very very hard.
i played this mainly on xbox for maybe 700+ hours.
went through multiple raids. lost ships daily and experienced more bugs
than ark ever had but it was fun. had a lot of laughs but this is
abandoned and the devs won't even admit it

i have over 1700 H , great survival game , good mecanics , hard game ,only 1 server pvp with multiple grids so everyone can be together no matter what .
Devs didnt listen to the real people that realy cared about the game , they tryed to please the new players and continue to add new stuff instead of fixing the real game and the real problemas and bugs of the game .

to nobodies surprise the ark devs pumped out another shitty grindy boring ugly unoptimized survival scam that they abandoned almost the instant it launched, the server browser only shows me 1 dead community server and nothing else, trying to figure out how to direct connect to any of these vip premium p2w dogshit servers listed on a server site has been obnoxious too, basically the game is dead and not worth playing at all which sucks cause there is no good pirate games that arent boring,
This game really just needs constant update on animals, ships, shuffle the values of different sails, make new mythic weapons and armors that you need to grind hard to get them and you will make this game even more better. The new taming system is amazing. Just need new ship building system. More metal collecting animals, gem collecting animals and crystal animal. Just do little update and that would be amazing. Listen to those who play right now. Make this a single player beauty. There is so much potential on this one. Listen to this.
I love this game, but you need to just have one good developer for 3-4K salary that wants to work on this. And you will be amazed what one person could do from modding community.
6+ years in early access and still not released. very little in the way of updates. Wildstar is just milking EA to re-release their other games. Sad because this game could have been alot cooler without the stupid taming/pet system.
abandoned by the devs, do not buy.
The Developers of ARK and ATLAS have gotten so pathetic and greedy for money, without any intention of putting in the work to earn that money, i cant help but write a second not recommended review on one of their games just so the people will refrain from buying their games. Dont get me wrong, ATLAS is a trash game and i wouldnt recommend it to anyone, ever. It released as a buggy broken mess, you could enter into the ARK world creation screen (IN THE ATLAS GAME) with dinosaur modifiers and everything because they quite literally copied ARK and slapped a bunch of pirate fantasy stuff over it, you could literally enter the ark world creation menu from the ATLAS main menu because theyre not even good enough to hide their own failures, i gave this game 2 chances and it still feels like i gave it 3 chances too many.
Dont buy this game, you will regret it.
Could have been a great game but development and company royally ****** that up. Crashes all the time, cant join servers. And it was abandoned due to poor development fixing and adding things promised. I only bought it because it was 90% off and am still regretting it.

Snail games shotguns these games out every few years, supports the ones that get players like ark (kind of, seems shady how that went) and lets the rest run on in EA for ever hoping to get the occasional player to pick it up. This game at the beginning was my dream game i always wanted to play....but during the years it became something else that was not promised...I had great memories when it first launched but now it is unplayable...and not fun at all cant see my self coming back and playing it.
I'll keep it a buck 50, this game is great, however with that said it is mainly only great if you play on modded servers. Thats where you'll find new stuff and better environment overall. It would be nice if the devs would come back to the game, but don't hold out hope.
With that said, i'd snag this while its on sale, and pray with me that the devs come back to the game after ark 2.

Buying a game that is clearly targeted towards the multiplayer community and said game not having official servers is absurd.

Why can't I find servers ?????
No longer supported. Has not wiped in so long and has issues that will never be fixed.
I loved this game when you were able to get lost in it. Since EVERYONE decided to complain about how big the map was, how long it took to build a ship, How long it took to travel from one island to the other. NOW the same people who complained about it are no longer playing the game. Its ironic inst it? Now there's nothing to even look forward to since the devs abandoned the game like quitters.

This IP needs to be sold, Grapeshot has "GrapeSH*T" the bed on this IP. ARK ascended dropped and this whole games dev team either fell apart or was absorbed into that project.
This was a wonderful game with a wonderful concept and was mismanaged and poorly developed. It is a dead game and it's corpse still rots here in steam for people to buy it for 30$ USD..
NO wait for it to go on sale and even then prepare for the disappointment of an abandoned game. I will never forgive Studio Wildcard/Snail Games/Grapeshot for sh***ing the bed on this project

its a slow game but a lot of fun
While it has great promise and is hard to find a comparable ship building world exploration game, with taming, combat etc this game is NOT suitable for multiplayer. I purchased this game to play with family and found that unfortunately it is just not playable that way, when the host loads the game all other players who have been in the game are able to take damage whether they are actually in that particular session or not, in multiplayer all the tamed buildings and ship rails simply eat your animals and they disappear into thin air never to be seen again. Ships of the damned overrun the map and spawn way too frequently. Using the spyglass while travelling on a boat in the middle of the ocean in multiplayer crashes the game, trying to play multiplayer on the free map crashes the game. Too many issues, no help or updates in a long time. Dont waste your money unless you want to play solo.
Don't buy it. Buggy mess since the beginning and it has been fastly abandoned by devs.
Snail Games is now infamous for starting early access games and then abandoning them. They have games like For the Stars coming out. I suggest not buying anything they make, as there is high chance they will abandon it as well.
whats happened to this game is sad... It was great, an open sea adventure on a huge map. Build and customize ships and bases. Have a grand adventure with your friends in pvp and pve. Then the devs just gave up. shrunk the map, removed pve elements and made the game to basically combat only... Now completely abandoned. No up dates. No new seasons. No anything..... Rip
