From the creators of ARK: Survival Evolved comes ATLAS -- the ultimate pirate experience! Explore a persistent, massive open world with thousands of other players simultaneously. Build your ship, assemble your crew, sail the high seas, search for buried treasure, plunder player-built settlements (or replace them with your own), and conquer the world of ATLAS island by island. Wage war against enemy fleets while you single-handedly command large ships of war -- or divide the responsibilities among your trusted shipmates instead. Dive into the watery depths to explore sunken shipwrecks. Team up with other explorers to discover new lands rich with resources, exotic creatures, and ruins of a bygone time. Become a pirate legend in this ultimate quest for fortune and glory!
Create the Pirate Ship of Your Dreams
From tiny rafts and dinghies to colossal frigates and galleons, your dream vessel is only a shipyard away with our robust ship customization system. Construct your ship piece by piece, give it a name, design the look of your sails, and decide exactly where all the planks, masts, and gunports on your ship should go.
Assemble Your Crew
Recruit other players or hire NPCs to join your crew and aid you on your quest for riches and glory. Whether manning weapons on your ship, hoisting the sails, or helping search for buried treasure on shore, your crew is an essential part of your pirate adventure. Just be sure to keep their stomachs full and give them their fair share of the booty, lest you want a mutiny on your hands…
Explore a Massive World
Physically sail in real-time across a vast ocean, featuring over 700 individual landmasses across 45,000 square kilometers. Discover thousands of points of interest over a number of distinct world regions, each with their own unique resources, creatures, secrets, and dangers!
Shape Your Identity
Choose from a wide range of character customization and cosmetic options to create your specific pirate look. Unlock skills across 15 different disciplines to form your own unique role in the world of ATLAS.
Experience Classic Pirate Action
Become the world’s greatest swashbuckler, a pistol-packing gunslinger, or perhaps a master cannoneer instead. Engage in fierce raids on land-based strongholds, swing from grappling hooks to board enemy ships, or unload volleys of cannonballs into your foe’s hull. The world of ATLAS has no shortage of ways to dispatch your enemies, be it at the end of a sword... or in true pirate fashion… at the end of a rope.
Build Your Organization
Want to create a rich merchant empire that spans from pole to pole? Always wanted to command a fleet of privateers who work for the highest bidder? Or perhaps you’d like to create a government navy and protect the innocent from pirates? In ATLAS, you can build any organization you can think of. Create a settlement for your company and build it piece by piece with our modular construction system. Contest other companies’ land, structures, or ships and add them to your ranks. With the right organization in hand, the world is truly your oyster.
Choose Between PvP and PvE Play
Choose between PvP or PvE play on our official servers:
On a PvP server, everything is up for grabs: be it ships, player inventories, NPC crewmembers, tames, player-built structures, player-owned territory, and lots of other loot. If you can get your hands on it, you can take it for yourself. Do you have what it takes to become the most notorious pirate on the high seas?
Care for a less “cutthroat” experience? Join one of our PvE servers and cooperate with thousands of other players to explore the globe, discover new secrets, and even fight mythical creatures together. Create powerful companies with old friends or build an entire player-run town with some new ones. The world of ATLAS is yours to shape!
Create Mods and Custom Servers
Want to build a World War II Spitfire? Or how about an Arcadian Steampunk Airship floating through a cloud-world? These examples and much more are provided with the ATLAS Dev Kit, where you can effectively create whatever large-scale action game you want to see: all supported by the database-driven network technology that powers ATLAS. Unofficial ATLAS mods can be of any size and configuration, while a visual map tool lets server hosts layout their own complete custom world -- all dynamically streamed to the client during gameplay.
Play in Singleplayer and Non-Dedicated Private Sessions
In addition to experiencing ATLAS on our official/unofficial servers with thousands of other players, you can now enjoy ATLAS by yourself in our Singleplayer mode, or with up to eight friends privately in our Non-Dedicated Server mode. Adjust the game to suit your preferences and enjoy your own private version of ATLAS.
And Much, Much More
Only a fraction of ATLAS’ features and content are outlined above, with many more to come throughout the game’s Early Access development period.

Has great potential but has been abandoned in early access community keeping it alive but with server wipes you just lose everything and have to start again waste of time
Its a good game, need just put more effort into it. Moded servers are still nice :)
Good game ruined by idiotic development decisions, greed and numerous cash grab attempts.
Making games cost money and that's understandable but the game itself was an ARK reskin at its best and most of the implementations weren't exactly groundbreaking or resource heavy.
It was clear that they killed it the minute people found out it was a reskin and nothing more and that the devs were more focused on milking it as much as possible before moving on to other projects.
It could have legitimately taken over a good portion of Sea of Thieves/AC Black Flag/Skull and Bones player bases if just a little more effort was spent on making the game enjoyable.
Great Idea, awful execution
Servers unplayable, honestly skip plenty of other pirate games that are similar coming out take a look elsewhere this is awful
All of my hours in this game were with Darkside RP. Venalis had an entire modding team propping up the game and encouraging new players to buy it to play on RP servers. It was a ton of fun, but then Grapeshot got greedy and tried to, in essence, steal all of Darkside's custom assets. This forced Darkside to quit modding the game and the whole RP community abandoned Atlas. Grapeshot has since abandoned the game. Way to screw over your own company, Grapeshot! Greedy a-holes. I will NEVER buy a Grapeshot/Snail/Instinct game again. I hope the whole company goes under because they do not respect their players or their devs.
This was my favorite pirate game, but parts of it are simply unplayable, ruin the experience, and they abandoned it, so there's that.
Do not buy games from Snail Games USA, they never finish their games. This was becoming a great game until the made stupid changes and messed the whole game up into a coach roach infested mess. So much potential lost to greed and laziness. These developer/publisher Nazi terrorist need to be forced to finish these games. I loved sailing and building ships on this game. You bunch of racist NAZI thieves!
Grabbed it on sale to join some friends.
Gave it 10 crashes, couldn't join the server.
Uninstalled the 130gb of crap.
Abandoned game. Do not buy it.
Bugs from first launch of the game are still around, never fixed, a few things added which made more bugs which were never fixed. It will never come out of Alpha or have anything done to it.
Steam should remove it from being bought.
This is the work of SnailGames, don't buy their products.
I don't have access to everything in creative. Plus, I can't find any metal. I see the rocks, I just don't get any metal from them.
Game is built upon the foundation of Ark, but in a Pirates World
The game has been Abandoned and no longer has gotten any updates. but the modded community is still very much alive. Official servers are dead but dedicated ones live on it, with Stock rates or Inflated for faster pace.
Maps could take 10 minutes to cross or a few hours depending on how many Grids per server or what Ship you have built
Claim you own island and implement Tax to visitors.
Build massive bases/ships or claim a castle and build in that.
Tame Creatures and steal Pirates from your Sunken Enemies To Man your Cannons or sails .
Building is endless. and so is exploring and amassing your army
This game is buggy as hell, mostly with building and will Likely Eat your computers Ram if Dinner.
Abandoned or not this game has so much to offer. It beats Sea of Thieves in the fact that i get to make my own ship, have my own port and city. Plus you can have creatures that help you in combat or transit. This game beats Skull & Bones in the fact that its an actual pirate game where you can walk on land and hold a sword, you know....everything a pirate wants to do.
This game could use 10 lbs of polish and it would stand out as one of the best pirate games there is, unfortunately our Snail friends would rather give up on a game and still charge full price for it. 4/5 for the game. 1/5 for the studio.
cashgrab as it best.... almost 2 years without updates
Looks like all your games are getting abandoned??
I own most of your games and all are getting no updates
OK all good its pretty playable but please updates your games!!!
absolutely shocking they still charge money to get this after it was abandoned!!!! refund!!!!!!!!!!
Why is this such a good game not updated! Can manufacturers give us the hope of follow-up!
great game love it very much heaps of fun well worth it
I loved this game, it had an amazing concept. Unfortunately it got the abandon-ware treatment.
The server developed memory leaks that caused it to run worse over time. After a bit the devs decided this bug was now a feature, so all the servers (even private ones) had to be periodically wiped.
Crashes and balance issues were never solved
Public servers were plagued by foundation spam from day 1 on.
I was surprised by the game in a few positive ways. First, the big plus goes to the multiplayer experience – playing with friends is really fun, and there's so much to explore and build in this huge world. The graphics are solid, and the oceans and islands are nicely designed, which adds to the immersion.
However, there are some technical issues that can interfere with enjoying the game, like bugs or lag, but they've been addressing these in past updates. There's also a lot of grinding, which might bother some people, but when you're playing with a group, everything becomes a lot more enjoyable.
If you like open-world games with building, combat, and exploration, Atlas is definitely worth trying. The game has the potential to create some amazing moments with friends, even though it's not perfect. My recommendation, especially if you're looking for a multiplayer experience with your squad!
Rating: 8/10
I don't know who broke everything, but almost half of the skills don't work. And in the taming branch, recipes for buildings stopped opening at all. Or in the starting lacquers, pirate ships with levels 800 and higher appear and destroy the starting ship with one shot, which completely kills your desire to continue playing. The developers should pay, they break more and more with each new update, they don't want to fix anything and put a spoke in the wheel of all the developers of cool mods
Great game. Sad it was abandoned. Had some good times with a friend.
Super fun game, like Ark but pirates, better than sea of thieves by far. It has been abandoned but the game is complete if you ask me.
Imagine making a game that smashed all other pirate games so heavily, gave the best sense of freedom to the player, and made the entire gameplay loop satisfying by being breathtaking, with a dedicated fanbase... Only to shit the bed and kill it for absolutely no reason. I loved Atlas, I wish the company did too but it would appear not.
It was cheeks, and still is since it's been in early access since 2018 or something like that.
It was a scam when it launched by being the game ARK, but built in a new sailor themed map. It's more of scam now that it's totally abandoned after the backlash when players found they could access ARK: Survival Evolved maps through the editor console, proving all they did was vaguely rebuild some elements of an already buggy mess to sell at a full retail price.
Let's also not forget this is the same company that sold an expansion for ARK before ARK even left early access. There's a difference between 'Devs need to make money to continue development' and 'Devs hit success, couldn't keep up with demand of quality and chose to just drain money from that success'.
Let's also not forget that ARK: Survival Evolved got re-released as 'ARK: Survival Ascended' which was yet another re-hash which was even buggier than the original... Just to make more money. This company is scum and I'm glad there's alternatives to 'Open world sea-based survival' now, as well as alternatives for 'Ship exploration/warfare' games.
Don't buy this game. Was good 5 years ago but what good is a pirate game where your map doesn't work?
I read all the reviews and still purchased the game. As I've had fun with games that have a ton of negative reviews in the past. I have over 500 hours in this game in a very short time frame. So it just shows that it checked all the boxes for me for it's genre... when it worked.
As per the usual, Snail, Grapeshot, Wildcard or w/e the feel like calling themselves these days, had a great idea that could have been one of the GOATs but had a piss poor execution. The mod community has done what they can to salvage the game and make it enjoyable. But it's still a broken, buggy mess and there's just as much irritation as there is fun.
Now for those of you that play/have played ASE or ASA you know what I mean. Honestly this game has done much better since they walked away from it. But there is only so much duct tape you can use before the ship sinks anyway.
It's a shame because this game practically has all of the things I want in a seafaring game. But you're rolling the dice every time you play it in it's current state on whether or not you can even get into the game on multiplayer. And as with most of these types of games, it can get a bit boring after a while, just playing solo.
Such a waste of potential. Waste your time and your money at your own risk.
game sadly abandoned, they milked what they could out of customers and then took off.
The devs have disabled all of the servers~ there are none available to join/ play. Please save your money and buy a game you can actually play. EDIT- it COULD be a great game, but its been abandoned
ive been more patient with this game, TRYING to get it to work consistently and running into the exact same crashes repeatedly, and rendering this game completely unplayable not enjoyable at all, playing multiplayer blackwood mapif you DIE or you try to open a treasure map you immediately CRASH same error every. single. TIMe. This game and its makers are a steaming heap of garbage. you should feel terrible having your names attached to something this plain bad.
goood game can be buggy sometimes but overall really enjoy the game and community
its a dead game. ark with ships. not terrible. had great potential but wild card fucked it up
played this on xbox and pc and really enjoyed the whole game and found it to be full of adventure and promise just like Ark:survival evolved but the whole situation has taken a turn over the last few years since it was abandoned,
shame it had all the promise of being a great game just lacked the polishing it needed and optimisation to make it stand out and abandoning it to sort out the hot mess that is ark v2.0 (Ark:Survival ASS-ended) to milk money for a reskinned Ark:Survival evolved shows us all wildcard is in a messed up state and obviously owe Snail games too much money they owe from their lawsuit to make a game they care about because i believe they did care about making games once but not anymore.
Good Luck Wildcard so long as you are suckling the titty of Snail Games i wont be going anywhere near one of your titles
Good Survival crafting game still going strong on un official servers!! Fun Pirate adventure!
Crap game, Crap studio, Snail Games sucks donkey D!
Game was fun while it lasted, kinda crazy its still for sale and the devs completely abandoned the game! Hasnt been a single update since 2023. So dont waste your money on a dead game!
This game have a huge potential to beat Skull&Bones but the devs choose to abandon it, it just too bad this amazing game are abandoned.
PREFACE: This game is abandoned so no more updates, blame the horrible corporate practices for that.
Not worth its price.. But I can say if I got this game for 50% off it would be worth it. I played mostly CO-OP with a buddy or single player as the servers are all community-made, and I had plenty of fun. AI is somewhat disappointing as you cannot use them to make a fleet but they will shoot enemies, or punch crocodiles if you don't arm them with weapons.. Game can be grindy but how you play is customizable, for instance xp and resource gain can be pumped up.
Could have been an amazing game, played the hell out of it at and around release. shame it was abandoned and its pretty much dead.
This game excels in what offers. If you enjoy survival games and spending your time gathering resources and building, you will appreciate it. However, many players tend to be lazy and critical, which can be discouraging for those of us who enjoy working and playing games. The game has declined in popularity due to the current state of the world and the negative attitudes of some individuals.
Great game if you are into survival and the pirate lifestyle.
built an awesome boat, got attacked, boat sank and lost everything. Worth it 9.5/10
Less lag and bugs then when it dropped, but still more buggy then ark, great game tho
It definetly needed more work before releasing.
i played this game hoping to be a good pirate game (better than skulls and bones) but the game is at best OK, the building mechanic and taming is fine giving me ark vibe, but you cant put a random leveling system in this game, i couldn't find an enemy or treasure at my level or lower even with XP boosted making it difficult to get coins and even harder to beat other ships. it may work on Ark but not in this game.
it does have great potential, i had fun building ships and bases but the fighting and leveling system needs a massive overhaul. hope it gets worked on cuz i really want to like this game
There is no other game like ATLAS. It's an extremely unique experience that I've only scratched the surface of, playing with my friends in our own self-hosted saves, and I've had a great time with it. Sure there's ARK at the core of it, but the large-scale multiplayer seafaring piracy is a welcome spin on the survival-crafting framework. The fact that they were going for an MMO that end users could in theory host their own servers for was wild.
Unfortunately, Grapeshot seems to have fallen off the face of the Earth. The game is in early access and the developers are gone without any sort of update for over a year. The official servers have gone offline. I cannot recommend purchasing this game at this time unless you got some friends that -really- want to play together as a small group.
This game is so buggy it is almost unplayable and abandoned.
Abandoned game. Waste of money. Sail/Wild Card are thieving bums.
I do enjoy this game, even now. I very much wish the developer would continue this project.
Me an Bear Team 6 still having fun liberating treasure for great justice in 2025!
its great game you can play pve or pvp and build your ships any way you want i like both pve & pvp both pvp can be fun some times
