I was somewhat on the fence, since the AI seems to be about as passive as the AI in Samurai Warriors 4 (which is further compounded by the fact that you can actually see the health gauges of your opponents - - -)
But then I have fought some battles in Pandemonium Difficulty / Hundun chasing simulator I guess
The experience is thrilling, assuming that he picked a stage that is chaotic enough for it to matter.
Pandemonium Mode pretty much nukes the players health recovery, forcing you to make the most out of the three health gauges you got (making the archer spam on the opposing side really annoying actually - - -)
Adding to that, Hundun (with his MASSIVE melee range) will spawn roughly three times, and he'll obliterate you if you don't isolate him and nuke him first
Since you can't recover health, peons are actually dangerous in this mode, making you reconsider whether or not to just jump into a pool of red dots lol
I really enjoyed replaying larger battles on this difficulty thus far, as it pretty much becomes a nukefest in which you can actually die rather swiftly yourself lol
(My team is level 50 each rn, it'll probably be less fun once I level myself higher than that, but in any case, this is the sweet spot for me rn and I'll enjoy it while it lasts)
Right off the bat, Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate is like Mortal Kombat Armageddon in terms of sheer playable Characters. For what it's worth it is a good Musou game. Story mode was very long so you will have alot of content to go threw. Has other modes to peak your interest, infinite mode to name one. Has a collab with ninja Gaiden in Ultimate dlc. The greek gods and Norse gods are introduced in storymode but omg they all look completely japanese based so ugh. Zeus somewhat is the only god that looks close to his greek origins. Achilles is also a playable character and looks exactly like how he is depicted in source material. Only gripe i had in the game, but other than that good title. BTW HANZO HATTORI FTW!!!!

Compared to the other Koei musou titles available on Steam, I don't really have many good things to say about Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate (WO4U) except that it has the largest roster to date and the combat's still good as far as Koei's musou titles go - though not necessarily better than the other offerings.
My personal gripes with this entry:
- Superfluous upgrade system which is used to unlock upgrades for the character - which includes the additional combos that used to be obtained naturally via levelling up. The equippable skills system is also ditched in this entry and subsumed under the new upgrade system based on type (Power, Technique and Speed). The combo unlocking really kills the excitement of levelling up during a mission, which would've allowed you to use new moves as you level up. Utterly pointless, unnecessary and a downright pain considering there are 170+ characters.
- Move sets for DW8 characters are taken from DW8E instead of DW8XL, which turned out to be a nasty surprise for me as I wasn't expecting it. For e.g. Wang Yi uses Emei Piercers instead of Trishula, completely changing how she's played. She used to be my go-to crowd-clearer back in WO3U but I hardly use her now. Oh btw, Liu Shan went from using a Rapier to a literal bench now - in case he's one of your favourites.
- In WO3U, you can have the other 2 selected characters fighting alongside your character and that's no longer available in here anymore, except in Infinity Mode.
- No more interim saves and instead uses an autosave checkpoint system. This removes the player's control over where to save during a mission and sometimes checkpoints are too far apart in certain missions, making the autosave much less useful.
- The music is a big step down from Koei's past standards. I never thought I'd ever say this but the new tracks are mostly meh, and the majority of the new remixes (i.e. anything with TRINITY MIX) are messy, noisy and often don't resemble its original at all. Also, the music selection feels very limited in this entry. As for new tracks/remixes, I think the only ones that caught my ear was "ATMOSPHERE TUBULENCE", "IN FULL BLOOM - TRINITY MIX -" and "WELCOME TO CHINA - TRINITY MIX -".
- Feels rather lazy with a lot of static art during dialogue and re-used stages. It's not much graphically better than past series either that it mattered. The UI is rather uninspiring, lacks personality and feels rather tedious to use - like we now even need a dedicated menu for changing costumes. For some reason, the game also doesn't make use of the DPad for controlling your other party members and the DPad itself isn't used anywhere in the control scheme.
- I'm on the fence with regards to the new magic system via sacred treasures (an equipment). This system removes the uniqueness of the characters imo; in WO3U, all characters have a unique ability bound to the R1 trigger. On the flipside, it does provide a tad more experimentation for character/treasure combinations.
- Pretty garbage storyline even by the mediocre standards of Koei's musou titles. I didn't think WO3U had a good storyline either, but it's clearly worse here.
- Neither interesting nor exciting endgame modes to complement the endgame grind. While I don't love WO3U's Gauntlet Mode, I think it's far superior to the Infinity Mode here. Important stuff like rare weapon attributes cannot even be obtained in Infinity Mode and requires replaying the Story Mode missions. Obtaining unique weapons also feel extremely lackluster and hurts motivation.
[*]Not a fan of the ludicrous amount of DLCs. To make matters worst, the Deluxe Edition isn't of particularly good value too.
I'd probably still give a weak recommendation because it does have its own new characters, some of which are pretty neat (*cough* Athena). However, I'd recommend waiting for a huge sale. I bought the deluxe edition only because I wanted the series BGM (thank goodness I did), but if you don't care for it, just get the standard edition. If the new characters don't interest you, I think this entry is skippable; just get SW4DX, DW8XLCE and WO3UDE as they are equally good if not better gameplay-wise, but are (hands down) way better from a value perspective. Even coming from SW4DX straight before this, WO4U feels like a downgrade in terms of overall polish and under-developed in terms of mechanics.

Bought this game on a whim during Winter Sales, was pleasantly surprised by the polished storyline and smooth gameplay. Easy recommendation to anyone who is just looking for a fun time without having to use much brain power. The hack-and-slash nature could however be repetitive for some.
If you are someone who hates repetitive patterns, might be advised against getting this game.
Im still not the biggest fan of this part of the warriors franchise but honestly for what its worth this isnt half bad. Like really id give it an 8/10 generously. If you havent tried these warriors merging games they have made yet this one is real fun. Ofc if you wanna know more story about the characters from previous games and franchises youd probably want to play those as well. Which isnt too bad because most of those games are great!

be honest its not work magic or unity magic is problem. im tried all everything it dont count. i think its bug issues so they dont fix it lasted patch is done, not anymore. its around 90 complete but cant fully 100% complete so failed. dont buy u will be wasted money. its my loss.......

Right out of the gate riding upon my valiant war-steed I want to state for the record Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate is a good sequel. It adds enough to keep musou fans engaged yet it is classic enough not to rock the boat too much. I'm still bias towards Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate as it had a better opening with higher stakes and did its' job explaining whom Orochi was before he got corrupted. To me that really felt like the penultimate magnum opus fans wanted whilst the character roster was truly the best it has ever been in the series.
Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is a stand in for the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles flick whereas Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate represents Secret Of The Ooze. As a kid I preferred Secret Of The Ooze for being flashier and cooler. (And who can forget that Vanilla Ice cameo am I right?!) Yet now as an adult looking back I can concede the original film was closer to perfection. While not as much of a spectacle it did a better job letting us bond with the characters whilst the "down time moments" added as much to the story as the impressive well choreographed fight scenes! That's my TL'DR convoluted way of simply stating "WO3U is superior but WO4U is still an enjoyable worthwhile follow-up."
Anyway,we all know how Zeus is as a God. Ever the meddler in human affairs,he's like an opulent billionaire jerk-bag whom would fund a real Hunger-Games just so he would not get bored! That's exactly what he does here only instead of using benjamins he uses squiggly snek bracelets that have something to do with Medusa afer the Greek hero Perseus slayed her. For the rest of the plot various fractions will be racing to collect these macguffins of power to get the upper hand. No one agreed to be contestants in Zeus's lame Mixed-Martial-Arts-Isekai-Tournament so the final goal is to eventually kick him in the keister to return everyone to their respective historical periods. Obviously along the way it gets more complicated. Da-Ji is up to her same Rita-Repulsa-inspired shenanigans and the Norse god Odin wants in on the action too! (Man,this would have been a great pitch for another Time-Splitters! Oh well....)
What's strange is there are more characters than in WO3U and yet some of the best ones are missing. No Ayane. No Rachel. No Momiji. No Kasumi. No Sophita. No Sterkenburg. It just baffles my mind. Heck,you would think they would throw in others such as Mary Rose and William (That appeared in All-Stars) but that is not the case here. Being that Tecmo Koei owns all these franchises except for Soul-Calibur it's not as if there would have been many legal complications doing so.
Sad to say the fan service is "mid". There are not nearly as many alternate outfits this time around. For what its' worth,most of the character designs are still pleasing to look at with plenty of buxom beauties and handsome hunks! I get it,the game has a RIDICULOUSLY HUGE roster so making 4 or more alternative costumes for most of the recent cast in an updated graphics engine would have been a grueling undertaking. (An amusing observation I made is the devs that worked on WO4U seem to prefer upper endowments over lower assets. As a "rump-wrangler" this disappoints me but if you are into ta-tas welcome to the promise-land!)
One final complaint. Depending on which incarnation of a character you prefer you will be let down. For example, I prefer Lianshi using her cross-bow. In WO4U she uses duo-curved-blade weapons and her current outfit is inferior compared to the one she had from DW7. It "sucks" but thems the breaks!
"Everything else" is kino! The devs went back to what worked for the series after DW9's luke-warm reception. The new characters are flamboyantly glitzy and fun to use! Having a rage-bar,mystical artifacts that grant additional attack spells,and super-saiyan-transformation-styled-deifications go a long way to add more layers to the combat. A couple of new enemy types also serve to keep you more engaged as you adapt to a wider variety of situations. (That's a fanciful way of me telling you to "spam masgic" or activate "rage"!)
WO4U also opens with "Samurai Scanners", my absolute favorite BGM in the whole series! So far I'm really digging the overall soundtrack along with the marginally improved visuals that are just a tad easier on the eyes when in comparison to WO3U's.
Pros.
+Devs went back to what worked. (Mostly)
+Biggest roster to date. (But not necessarily the best)
+Added mechanics such as spells granted from mystic artifacts,rage bars,and deifications keep the combat fresh whilst opening up longer combo chains.
+Easy system to improve weapons,sell them,or break them down into raw socket-able gems that have varied attributes and buffs.
+ Return of more memorable soundtracks. (Some remixed and others kept the same.)
+More enemy types and the overall ai seems improved albeit by a minuscule margin.
+Additional mythologies represented.
+Better graphics compared to WO3U.
+Leveling up characters remains relatively hassle free. (So long as you farm those growth points)
+Can now assemble a secondary support entourage of AI controlled main characters that help you with various objectives on the map.
+Some "wild lookin" rarer mounts!
Cons
-Certain favorite characters from the previous entry were axed without a reasonable explanation.
- Removal of gauntlet mode (Though infinity mode is there as a replacement.)
- The story in WO4U isn't as intriguing as the one that unfolded previously.
-The Greek and Norse antagonists don't fit into the overall lore as seamlessly as Da-Ji,Tammamo,Sun Wukong,Orochi,Himiko,and Hun-Dun do.
-Not as many alternate outfits so the fan-service took a big hit.
-Depending on which version of a particular character you liked you may not get to play as your favorite iteration.
-More expensive than WO3U unless you get it on sale. Also suffered controversy because folks whom bought WO4 vanilla had to shell out more money for the "Ultimate" upgrade. I will never condone business practices like that. (By the way,there's even more dlc not even included in the definitive Ultimate version. What part of ULTIMATE do you not understand Tecmo Koei?! Can you read the WORDS coming out of my mouth?!)
Overall assessment
Ever find a nice gift from a recent ex or a friend that unexpectedly passed away? How you are grateful to have it yet the warmth and nostalgia that would usually go along with holding it or taking it for a spin just isn't there? WO4U is a lot like that. If WO3U is the exuberance of your youth WO4U is more like revisiting your favorite camping spot or favorite restaurant 40 years later. It is still a nice place. You're still glad you came. You still cherish the memories. But there's bitterness along with the sweetness this time. Could be your favorite dish was prepared with less care because the original chef retired. Could be the scenic view you and your first girlfriend enjoyed together is now somewhat obstructed by an obnoxious billboard. Regardless the case,revisiting the things we love isn't always a flawless reunion......
If I had any advice to offer Tecmo/Koei it would be offering more unlockable in-game content whilst reducing dlc hustling to see how that effects reviews and sales.
I've bought many of their games over the years. The caveat to that being I've always done so much later than the release date after a big-sale. The only exceptions have been when they put up older games with all the side content bundled together at a much more affordable rate.
Many musou fans prefer Warriors Of Orochi 3 Ultimate, Dynasty Warriors 7 Extreme Legends,and Samurai Warriors 4 DX over the newer entries and it is obvious why that is!
170 characters and only 1 joke character have clone moveset, i dare say this a groundbreaking for Omega Force standard.

Well, you are in for it
The game runs perfectly but if you have a 4K display, there's simple work around, just like other Warrior games, go to windowed and then back to fullscreen and bam! 4K resolution has been unlocked
I know what i was getting in, i enjoy some musous, but this one was so boring, this game relies to much on the magic system at a point that is tedius, incredible boring, you just spam magic bc is the most effective atack in game, it doesnt even matter that much what character are you using, it gets so old in a short time, even for a musou
Progression in this game feels very similar to mobile gachas in that you can level up your character to max level (100) and then "promoting" them, which resets their level to 1 but keep the stat gains, allowing you to do it all over again; you can promote characters multiple times.
You can also upgrade weapons by imbuing them wish special attributes, such as faster attack speed, elemental damage, increased item drop rate, etc. There are also Ultimate Weapons which can only be obtained by crafting with special materials only found in the Infinity Mode, which is the endgame of this title.
It's also possible to set characters as support, which will grant passive bonuses to attributes of the active party.
Online co-op is surprisingly smooth, although one very negative aspect is that only the host advances through the story; so if the plan is to play the campaign with a friend from a fresh start, the offhost will have to progress through their own campaign later.
Overall, this game is probably the definitive version of the Warriors Orochi; while inferior to Warriors Orochi 3, it's still is very fun, delivering the typical Musou experience of turning your brain off and just mowing through waves of enemies.
It is what it is, another Dynasty Warriors game. Fun, with a great selection of characters.
A shame there is no Gauntlet Mode like in the previous entry, same for the color customization...
The story, who cares, it's a great game with amazing gameplay and the best roster of any Musou game.
After the 100 Infinity Tower and the Ori-thing tower that resets itself every ten levels, the game falls a bit apart, lacking endgame.
good warriors game needs an update to the multiplayer it runs smooth just isnt good for the person connecting .

It's not a great game, but it's not bad either, as there's certainly some fun to be had.
The story is whatever, it does some interesting things, but I ended up losing interest towards the end, and the translation writing is a bit spotty to say the least.
The gameplay is pretty good, with over 100 characters to play. That being said however, there's definitely a bit of quantity over quality, as some characters are very fun, with others feeling short, stubby, and overall lacking impact. There's also some pretty frustrating design, with some generals being able to 1 shot you, and the checkpoint system not being as good as it should be.
If you are really hungering for a Musou game that you haven't played, this isn't a bad one, but if you're looking for the best Musou games, I'd look elsewhere.

to have broken the walls between so many mythical realms and put them in one realm is already fantastic, especially because they're all depicted so very well. truly an epic game.

For the old feel of 1 VS the millions (and millions) of soldiers trying to bring you down with arrows, and swords... A fair amount of unlockable characters to find your precise 'mass "murder"-ing' style.
Video gaming, I like 3 better but this is fun in its own way.

For someone who transfered from the old Musou Orochi to this one, I'm completely speechless... Where the f***ing hell are the old animations at main menu screen? The same gameplay and mechanics are okay... but no longer nolstagic like the old one.
