this game may trigger people. yeah...
no matter which route you pick, someone gets assaulted, only difference is who. and if you pick a certain route, it's implied that one character Commits suicide.
this, combined with the short length... you may just want to avoid this game instead.
I think the story is alright, the art isn't bad either, and it also has different endings, although I think the story is a bit short. If you're looking for something explicit to pass the time, I wouldn't recommend the game. But if you just want to read the story, I'd say it's fine. Still, as I said before, it's too short for me, so I don't recommend it...
The art is lackluster and the music feels painfully generic. The story is unfinished at best and bad at worst. It lacks the ability to connect the narrative dots so speak. One minute your in class and the next your being assaulted in the bathroom by a catgirl. Then for some reason you're friends with this cat girl and decide to go to her birthday party where you drink too much and force yourself on her. The path for the other girl is equally ridiculous and the threesome achievement is just thrown in at the end of one route with nothing logical leading to it, or connecting to it at all. There are various other gaffes as well like the girls talking about living in neighboring apartments, but they are clearly houses. The girls say they are in college, but I've never seen a college that copies a generic Japanese High School. It makes it hard to suspend disbelief and be in the novels world. It is also painfully short. I'm not the fastest reader, but I still fully cleared it and got all the achievements in less than hour. The translation is not great either. Overall, this is not one that can be recommended. Save your money!
Seeing mixed reviews I was thinking BlueberryNOVA will be mid... It wasn't in short. It was bad.
The only truly good thing in this production is art. Aika, her girfliends and CGIs look good and we can see that the creator knows how to draw. Their skills are definitely a few levels higher than mediocore DA artist, which makes me little sad since there are not many artworks by them on the web.
What they don't know unfortunately is how to make the story. Rushed as buildings in Mainland China and shallow as primaly school shows. Even if not every stories must be as good as "The Shadow over Innsmouth", "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came" or "This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen", I felt like I was reading extra low-tier romanse. Characters are behaving so much irrational that they would won casting for generic teen slasher.
About dark topics presented in Blueberry... Man, anxiety and etc. were presented so bad. JUST NO. Really. Go play Doki Doki Literature Club instead.
Translation is also not good, but it is not bad either. It has of course many little flaws. But it's definitely readable.
I other words, you should buy this on discount IF YOU REALLY, REALLY WANT TO SEE HOW TO NOT MAKE THE STORY. imo one bottle of beer would be a better choice
The textbox glitches in some parts (blank rectangle with text), no good. Translation is a bit odd sometimes. Also, Yukino ears disappears when they go to bed together, XD.
Apart from that, the story is nice and short. Characters sprites and CG are lovely. Quite immersive backgrounds too.
Cute and gay, I recommend.
Honestly my hopes weren't high going in and I was still left disappointed.
While there's not much, there is some good going for it: it's fairly cheap, the art is nice, and it's very easy to get a complete achievement list.
The bad is...pretty much everything else. The game is 100%-able in under an hour; the translation a kinda jank in a number of places; despite it supposedly having multiple love interests only one of them gets any real focus or likable character traits with the other one feeling extremely rushed in and seemingly was made to be tolerable at the best of times; despite me talking about focus, there really isn't any since the romances start and complete within a handful of paragraphs after only 3-4 in-game days; and honestly the writing itself is pretty amateur, with the emotions of most scenes being rushed through like it doesn't even want to focus on the emotions it expects the reader to feel.
Honestly though, I might've been able to give the game a pass on all that if not for its most glaring flaw: the threesome ending. No, it's not because I'm against poly relationships or anything like that (actually the opposite tbh), no, it's because the choices to get it are so nonsensical and counterproductive that you have to wonder if it was even programmed in right. To get it you have to outright ignore one of the characters (who's implied to commit suicide on the route where you ignore her?) and then not bring up the possibility of inviting her to the other girl's birthday party (cause why would I want my two love interests to hang out together if I'm trying to get them into an open relationship with me?) and then make a choice that is so pointless and has nothing to do with anything (choosing wrong results in the normal ending). That is the exact path I took to get it, I kid you not. I attempted different playthroughs afterwards to try and see if it would activate and no, that's the only path that worked. And to make matters worse, even with the uncensored patch you don't actually see a threesome. It literally just gives you a paragraph saying that you are now dating both of them.
So in summary, we have weak writing with weak characters that takes less time to get through than this review I'm posting, pointless choices having major consequences, and a completely nonsensical path to the third major ending that can barely be considered an ending at all.
Sorry, even with the low price, it's a hard pass and makes me incredibly hesitant to play the sequel
Expected worse from a 3$ VN with mixed reviews.
The art is pretty decent but the plot and how it is delivered needs some improvement.
No. Just no.
This game is terrible and I rarely write negative reviews but seriously...
Writing:
- Not sure if the translation is bad or the story from the beginning was so flat and lame BUT IT WAS VERY FLAT AND LAME. Basically you were jumping from day to day in seconds. There was barely any descriptions. "I was doing this, then I did that. I went to sleep. I cooked. 10 min later I was at home. It took us 5 min to go home." << it's literally like that all the time.
From the technical view:
- music was there but not all the time and without voice acting it was pretty quiet in many situations
- background sounds... be ready for just a ring bells - maybe there were more but I CONSTANTLY HEARD THAT ONE
- sometimes pictures were broken and you could see background but in the middle huge white column with text appearing (instead of text frame below)
Story:
- I love yuri stories but relationships here are so forced - moving in after one night hook up (yeah I know it can happen irl too but c'mon)
- bad ending is really BAD for one character
- you can learn how to make 3 dishes because they literally give you full recipe, what ingredients you need, how long to cook it etc. (NOW you know what description is? Maybe instead romance, write cooking vn - might be actually good)
Sensitive content:
+ fair point, dev wrote triggers in description
- about suicidal thoughts, it's not only thoughts there's suicidal note, you learn the girl took her own life and how the story ends? QUOTE from the game: "apparently Eva decided to leave. It was a pity that I didn't manage to make friends with her" and then (I didn't save that quote) "but at least I have Yukino" like wtf dude, be at least a bit sensitive
- oh also nightmares and sleep paralyzes included in the game
- another trigger "A girl kisses another girl without consent" - it's not just that. On one route girl is saying MC to stop but MC "just want her now" and they have sex. The next day she apologize. Respond? "no worries, I liked it, I forgive you" Dude are you serious? It's so wrong. After that character GOES WITH THE OFFER OF RELATIONSHIP where you can pick yes/no - with yes "ok cool - the end basically" with no she admits it was one time thing, character is whole "oh okay" and hey! you will get achievement for that! How good it is, right?? (yes, it's sarcasm)
- the other route sound very rapey too but hey, of course they both will enjoy it and then even switch - and depends on your choices it's either the end with that character OR YOU WILL DRUNKLY RAPE THE OTHER GIRL (so the previously described sex scene). At least at the end here MC is feeling bad for her actions and the games end here
I won't recommend it. There was potential that was totally destroyed. The only good thing about it was art so I hope dev will work on their writing style and maybe BlackberryNOVA (which was announced) will be better. For sure not gonna buy that one right away if at all.
~~Check my curator's page!~~
I'll give this a thumbs up, but only barely. Is it cringey? Yes. Is the translation bad? Somewhat. However, I think people are being WAY too harsh on this VN. The art/character designs are actually quite nice, the music is passable, and it's Yuri which is always a plus in my book. Also, it's quite easy to 100%.
The game is only 3 dollars (although I picked it up on sale for 1.79$), and this seems like it's Nova B12's first work as well, so I think the content that came with it was fair. Although, what the negative reviews said weren't exactly false, and I desperately hope they improve on these issues in their upcoming BlackberryNOVA.
Awful. The story is short (less than 20 mins) and boring, and the dialogue is awkward and dull. Several lines appear in Russian even in the English version, as well as some lines being repeated. Literally the only thing any character ever does is read manga and watch anime. Every scene ends with "-and then I/we read manga and watched anime". It's cringe-worthy how culturally ignorant the Russian weebs who made this are. The choices that led to the endings are illogical, and the subject of suicide is crowbared in because this dev obviously wanted to make Doki Doki Literature Club, but while only putting in 1% of the effort. Rarely do i see a VN with such low quality. Very disappointing. Not worth your time for the two low quality topless drawings.
Welll Despite this one Being So Short It was good Simple Yuri in it Little Bit of creepyness And Some other things Just MC Girl chara Found Girl she knew Since Elementary And fell in Love Had Sex and forever became Girlfriends lol Pretty Simple I say Worth the Read again its very short but Good.
I am so so confused after playing this game. I am genuinely going through some kind of awful déjà-vu.
It feels like, it is inspired??? ripped-off??? from the game, "Truth: Disorder". And well, that's not a compliment at all.
Let's first talk about the actual game and story of BlueberryNOVA.
It is ridiculously short, it really does take a few minutes to read the entire story (please ignore my time. Even though I played for under an hour, I spent about half that time doing other things.) I'm pretty sure I spent more time making this review than actually playing this game.
Everything is too rushed to get invested in the story and to truly like the characters.
It's painfully awkward and well, the story itself clearly rushes to all opportunities of some "Yuri" fan-service smut, but even *that* is rushed and... awkward haha. So, if you're interested in buying this solely for the smutty-stuff, you're going to be quite disappointed.
Why do I compare it to Truth:Disorder?
First of all, we play as Aika, and have possible two love-interests, Eva & Yuki. Strange enough, in Truth:Disorder, the MC is a male but we have the characters: Eva, Yukino and Aika. Coincidence? ...Maybe...?
Eva somehow looks almost the same in both stories with the white hair in a messy-bun-like-style, who is very mysterious and likes to traumatise you in your sleep by appearing in your nightmares.
The Aika in Truth Disorder has has pink hair & Yukino has black hair whilst in BlueberryNOVA, Aika has black hair and Yuki has pink hair! *phew* Yup! It's just a coincidence, guys!
Secondly, the same background art is used. *Sigh* Yes, these are probably free-to-use backgrounds for VNs or something, but still. It really did make it feel like I was reading the same story at some points, making me even think that maybe these two stories are connected somehow. (But yeah, I don't actually think they really are.) (And no, it's not made by the same creators... I think?)
I was quite disappointed with this game. I will admit I only bought it (And Truth:Disorder) because I can't help but want to play Visual Novels that have characters that share my name.
However, I will admit that I appreciate some of the art - some of it was really pretty. I will also say that the translations were very good! Very understandable and easy to read. Thank you for that!
I also love the achievements, even though they were a little too easy to get, some of them are pretty cute and easy to appreciate.
Pros:
- Good translations
- Some of the art is beautiful
- Achievements
- Affordable (Worth it on a sale.)
Cons:
- Way too short
- Rushed story
- Unrealistic and awkward situations
Overall, I might appreciate this game way more and give a positive review for it if there was more effort put into it. I'd like to be more invested in the story and get to know the characters more. But as of now, I sadly cannot recommend it at all, not even if you are looking for some Yuri-smut lol
I rate it a 4/10.
Story
In this very short romance-themed visual novel, you play as a ♀️ (1st person) who is entering a new school. There are 2 girls to choose from, but you're not forced to get into a romantic relationship with any of them. Unfortunately, you don't get to spend much time with anyone. The main events pass by very quickly, while the in-between moments are usually just a few sentences long as if they're almost asking to be ignored. Unless you're just aiming for the sexual scenes (which are also very short), the pace of the story is too high. Which caused me to not feel much of the romance factor.
Gameplay
You'll come across lots of choices, of which every single one has an impact. There are multiple endings to unlock. The game considers all of them as good, although most of them didn't leave me with the typical happy ending feeling.
Language
The English is understandable, but I found some sentences a bit confusing (e.g. using the word 'girlfriend' for a female friend).
Characters
The characters disappointed me as well. Maybe it's just because of the story's tempo, but even if they were supposed to be stereotypes, they seemed too flat to me. they really lack expressiveness. Even after some critical moments or choices (like leaving a "goodbye" letter), the characters just easily go on with their lives, almost completely ignoring what just happened. At least you still get to know a few things about one of the girls, but you unlock the "actual scenes" and endings way too quickly/easily.
Art
The anime-styled art is great. The backgrounds are really colorful. The characters are a bit different in style (more chibi-like?) but very cute. ^.^ I particularly like all the soft colors everywhere.
Music
I would say the instrumental music is just a background filler here: not out of place, but it doesn't really change the experiences that much.
Sexual content
There are 2 sexual scenes to unlock, both easy to get and a bit short I should say. Only nipples are visible sometimes. There's one moment without nudity that's also a bit sexual.

Even though the art was nice, I really missed the emotions that visual novels I like bring me in. All in all, I don't regret paying for it. Apart from the text, they probably put a lot of effort into the art. I'm going to use a few images as backgrounds for sure. :b

Unfortunately I can't recommend BlueberryNOVA.
Although there are some nice aspects, like the art style of the main charakters or the fact that this VN is completely yuri themed and you don't have to bother with any male protagonists that disturb your reading experience.
The story overall feels rushed and not believable (so are the main characters).
There are too often background changes after only 2 or 3 (or even less) lines of dialogue, which seems somehow inharmonious. To make it even worse, the backgrounds are very inconsistent in their art style (some of them are drawings whilst others are photographs).
The game is very short. It took me an hour to take all routes and to complete all the achievements. Also there are only 5 (!) CGs unlockable in this game.
And unfortunately there are no trade cards yet.
The only way to improve this game (mostly story wise) would be to rebuild it from scratch.
You can finish a single play through of BlueberryNOVA in about half an our so it is on the short side. Personally I prefer a VN that you can finish in 1 sitting.
The translation is on the poor side. I suspect English is the devs second language. At the end of the game they provide a method of contact if you desire to help them with their translation.
Over all BlueberryNOVA is a cute VN which I didnt mind spending my time on.
BlueberryNOVA is a short visual novel with dialogue that accompanies anime style graphics that are very detailed, like a visual novel was meant to do.
Pros
● The anime style is on par with many top notch visual novels.
● Very cheap game.
● The music was usually properly placed.
Cons
● The visual novel is more like a short web based flash game with little story, and lackluster characters.
● A lot of spelling errors, but this IS acknowledged.
● Although uncommon for a visual novel to have any, there are no voices in the game.
● The game is very short, even if you get two endings.
● The game, while it shouldn't be free, should be only 99 cents.
Conclusion
The game without the DLC still deals with non consent to somewhat minor physical intimate moments, and suicide related things. I can't include that in the pro or con section as it's declared in the description. So, it's either your thing or it isn't. Overall, I didn't like or dislike the game, but I feel like the creator is talented and could have done much better.
It was okay but, it clearly shows that this was written by a male. The characters felt stale and uninteresting as there's not much depth to them outside of "anime girl" and "lonely girl". Things also felt very rushed and needs to be fleshed out more. Only gave it a thumbs up as I don't think it was bad due to reading a lot worse.
If your a fan of yuri you will probably enjoy this VN. The girls are cute, the writting is pretty good, different routes you can choose as well as endings, and the art is pretty nice, it took me about 2 hours to read through all the different paths you can choose, ah yes and H scenes, install the 18+ patch for the full experince and to get your full $3 worth. A good yuri VN well worth the asking price for sure.
Note: (Kinda spoiler but not?) [spoiler] That whole Doki Doki thing with one of the characters in the trailer doesn't really mean anything, so if your kinda worried about that don't be. Nothing really like that happens in this. [spoiler]
Get the patch! :) Lovely little yuri, with some decent art and okay music throughout. The patch is what saves it from being a little lackluster though. With the patch I definitely recommend this cute yuri.
This is a very short girl x girl (yuri) visual novel. BlueberryNOVA tells the story of a transfer student named Aika. She meets two girls on her new college: Yuki, an overly confident girl that grabs Aika's breast on the first day they meet and proceeds to invite her to join the Anime Club (not creepy at all), and there's Eva, the opposite of Yuki; she's shy and seems very insecure.
There are multiple endings: one good per girl, a threesome ending, and two "lonely" endings. It took me 30 minutes to finish all routes and get all achievements.
The art style is alright. I've seen worse, to be honest. The English translation is a bit weird sometimes, but it's readable. I'm not a native English speaker, so it didn't bother me so much. One technical aspect that annoyed me a lot was the sound effects; they were SO LOUD! So many bell and phone rings! All the time!! I was trying to enjoy the BGM but it was nearly impossible with all that damn ringing.
So why I don't recommend this title? Well, it isn't that cheap for such a short novel. Also, the story and its characters are very cringy, especially that scene with Aika and Yuki in the bathroom. If you want just mindless and quick p0rn, this VN might be for you. But if you're looking for something cute or a bit more elaborated, stay away.
3/10. Wait for a 50% sale at least if you're planning on getting this title. Also, there's a free R18 patch that can be found on the developer's Twitter account.
Good:
- The art is better than average.
- The background music is pleasant enough.
- It's a yuri VN, which is always nice to see.
Neutral:
- The English translation is not perfect, but is comprehensible. Better than some.
Bad:
[list]
Verdict:
Even at the low price-point... I would not recommend. Possibly if it's on sale.
