This one was pretty rough. I know a lot of folks are critical of various gameplay elements, but I couldn't get past the voice acting in the beginning.
If you want to experience what going insane feels like, buy this slow paced broken piece of crap they dared to call a game. It's hilariously broken, basically stepping into comedy territory with it's voice acting, animations and bugs. I managed to break so much in this game, it almost started playing itself! However, even for the low price/on sale, I cannot in good conscience recommend it, unless you're a glutton for punishment like me...
Full playthrough of me gradually going insane as the game continuously falls apart around me until there's almost nothing left:

This was easily one of the games I've ever played. I did in fact play this in some form. Please send help.
Quite literally unplayable. The little bit of impossibly bad voice acting I heard was embarassing and the game wouldnt even get me out of the loading screen. I just listened to some couple fight through a loading screen before waiting a while longer and having nothing happen. Complete trash.
This might be the most buggy game i have ever played. Do NOT buy this - chances are that you won't even be able to finish the game. That's how bad it is.
Maybe under all of the bugs and glitches, bad writing, horrible voice acting, non-existing gameplay, and confusing story, lies some ideas that could probably be the start of a concept that could maybe be worked into a decent game. Maybe. It just needs everything else to be thrown out of the dumpster.
But the game really is unplayable. Here's a list of everything i can think of at the top of my head, but there's surely more i forgot:
1. horrible framerate
2. nauseating constant movement of the camera. Makes me seasick
3. horribly slow running speed. For a game where getting stuck and restarting from your last save is a part of the experience, slow movement is really a detriment, and doesn't even make it fun to play in a "so bad that it's good" kinda way.
4. horrible animations. Clipping errors, voice-syncing issues, uncanny valley facial animations, jittery cutscenes (like really, even the cutscenes are laughably bad. it's like they didn't even play this game before releasing it)
5. immersion-breaking model placement. You'll notice straight away that the devs didn't even bother to make more than 1 framed picture, so right next to eachother is 4 identical portraits of the player's family. Minor nitpick, but still.
6. horrible hitboxes. You can walk through something as simple as a sofa or a table. Even the bottom of stairs.
7. horrible sound design. From time to time, sounds and music will overshadow whatever dialogue is going on in a scene
8. horrible load times
9. horrible writing. This is seriously the worst writing i have ever seen in a non-self-aware video game. But it's very entertaining to laugh at.
10. confusing story. It didn't help that i didn't get to see the end because the game bugged out.
11. needlessly large areas with nothing in them. don't even try to explore anything. There's nothing. If you try to go places the devs didn't want you to go, then you WILL break the game, so just don't....
12. subtitles that don't disappear. like for real, sometimes a subtitle will stay on the screen for the rest of the game.
13. doors that don't reopen after closing them, locking you in a room forever, forcing you to restart from last save.
14. you can't save in this game. The game only has a few very specific checkpoints, which means that you will have to sometimes walk 5 whole minutes with no gameplay AT ALL (other than walking) to get to where you were before. Fun.
15. gameplay. Where is it? All you do is walk around from cutscene to cutscene. The only time you have to do something else than just walking from A to B, is when you have to do some weird door puzzle with a solution that was so mindnumbingly straightforward that i spent a lot of time trying other solutions, since i thought the devs wouldn't possibly make the solution to the puzzle so easy to figure out, but so frustrating to play.
16. interactible objects with no purpose. as you play this game, you will realize that 99% of all items with a white outline (meaning you can interact with it) has no effect when clicking it. In fact, if you click an object (like a button) that you need to progress the game too many times, you risk breaking the object entirely, making it impossible to progress.
17. When i said that all you do in the game is walk from A to B, i wasn't entirely honest. There is also 3 (count them, 3) times in the entire game that you have to choose between 3 options (telltale style) that i think will change the story of the game. But there's no fricking way I'm spending another hour getting back to that scene just to check. AFAIK it only changes the ending, which is broken anyways.
18. Buggy mess. I already implied that. But really. There is a time when you can actually get stuck, because you can choose the floor of an elevator, while standing outside of it, making it go up and leaving you behind. There are corners and small areas you can enter no problem, but there is no way to leave, breaking the game.
19. Weird models just... Standing there. Early on you can encounter some wolves. They just stand in the forest, as if they were statues. very strange.
20. Horrible voice acting. Especially from the main character, the father, and Jack. The wife and the evil dude was propably the only ones who at least tried.
21. Broken ending. When i got to what i think is the end, i was stuck as i walked out of my bedroom, and forced to watch a static image of my own back for 2 minutes while music played in the background. After that, i woke up stuck in a door unable to move. This happens every time i restart and try again. So I'll actually never find out how this crapshoot of a story ends. Was there even a story? Something about stairs.
Very fitting ending.
Do not buy this game
graphics looked fine, but the cringy dialog and glitches had me rage quitting within the first 30 minutes
Typical Nightmare is very... Slavic? Definitely communist. Good ideas went into this game though it needs a lot more work in terms of animation, flow, and maybe a rewrite of the script. Bought it when I saw it was $1.99 and I'm glad I waited.
Positives:
The concepts that were put into this game were unique and felt like they were running in a similar vein as the Layers of Fear. Psychologically striking pulling from an atmospheric sense of suspence. Dreams are a great topic to play off of and I think the title hits this nail on the head by creating a realistic expectation of this games experience. The exterior building design was creative. The use of a narrator adds a guide to the experience that plays with the connection between environment and psychological elements of the story.
Negatives:
The acting felt like it was written(as opposed to spoken) and clique. The animation of character to dialogue is choppy. The scenes drag on at a same slow pace that the gameplay runs at. I felt like I was crawling even when running. The rooms that the player walks through often times are the same floorplan with varying bells and whistles. I don't know if I had an issue with the download but I had many technical issues such as mirrors not reflecting, characters interupting eachother, speaking too late, or not speaking at all while moving like they where.
Where to begin....the only nightmare here is the game itself. Voice acting is insanely bad. Not sure how that got past the devs. Bugs. Boring gameplay. Loading screens would be half of the gameplay if it weren't for you having to GUESS the correct sequence of actions. Searching for the next object to interact with was a chore that I found to be so tedious that after 15 mins of gameplay, I quit. I bought it on sale for $2 and still asked for a refund. That's how bad it was.
Typical Nightmare is an unfinished mess of bugs that skipped the Early Access stage. I spent half the time on loading screens that just wasn't worth the wait as the gameplay is very repetitive where the player must find the correct sequence of doors to continue.
I regret to have bought 3 of Evil Game Studios/Electrostalin Entertainment games in the Otaku Bundle 36. The developer revoked keys on Jan 1, 2019 for all 3 games stating he was not paid. However, the bundle did not end until Dec 26, 2018. The contract states payment will be given 30 days after the sale period is over:

The developer has begun hardcore suppression by deleting comments and topics about the matter to avoid any resolution. Luckily, the main discussion was archived, as well as his initial announcement:

Coincidentally, the dev’s bundle of all 3 games has gone on sale for 90% at the same time this entire mass cleanup has occurred in an attempt to get customers to re-buy the game a second time through Steam. Please do not support this developer. I will be refunding the bundle as it is fraud and very low quality.
The Graphics were kinda interesting, the physics were questionable the gameplay was terrible, and above all... OMG, What did I just play?! This was an absurd experience, and in no way resembled any typical nightmare, at least not mine. Those punching scenes were hysterically bad. Definitely not recommended.
It's a good game, despite the flaws.
I liked the ambience for the game, and the story somewhat too.
The credits were a nice touch.
If the following were fixed I would have really enjoyed this game actually.
-Bugs. (Can't interact with things, wolf in elevator breaks the game if you retaliate too early)
-Framerate. (In the building I had about 30fps on my 970)
-Voice acting. (Put some more energy into it!)
-Animations. (Ledge & plank movement is just a long pause for the player).
Full list of bugs I discovered
-Pressing continue before starting a new game results in a black screen. ALT-F4 required.
-Interacting with things don't always work, might be a boolean thats still false for example- but theres no message to tell the player that there's more to be done first.
-No fall damage. I was glad of this however, as it made the stairs puzzle take a shorter amount of time to complete.
-Visible developer textures.
-Subtitles don't match what's actually being said.. At all.
-Sometimes people moved their mouths, but nothing were said.
I really liked the idea for this game- hope to see something like this, but improved in the future. :)
If ever a game shouldn't have been released in the state it was in, it's Typical Nightmare.
This is borderlline pre-alpha and it's a horrific mess.
The ideas in here are decent, don't get me wrong, but the execution a disgrace and it was 40% off release readiness.
From bugs which end the game, to a constant and nausea-incuding wobble from the player character, to dialogue which overlaps each other both aurally and visually via subs, to bugs which restart the game and erase all progress, to doors which won't open till the fourth or fifth attempt, to staggeringly dreadful voice acting, this just feels like someone's mod for something else which was never finished and was disgracefully released in the absolute mess it's in.
The only, single pro I can give this t*rd is the enviromental visuals are a reasonable use of UE4. The NPCs however are not and everything else is a minus.
I can honestly say this is close to the worst game I've played on Steam, in terms of condition, polish, execution and development.
ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED!
(ps the dev ignored all comments requesting support - avoid anything they (electrostalin) make like the plague - new game game on its way called Paws and Soul - shudder to imagine the shambles that will be released in)
The only nightmare is the slow and buggy gameplay. I hate writing negative reviews, but I hate evem more when the game builds up a great concept and fails to deliver that.
If you want a typical nightmare just go to sleep after eating too much, way easier and cheaper.
Well, what can i say, everything is as promised:
Anxious atmosphere - ✔
Non-standard horror - ✔
Psychological problems - ✔
This was an interesting story, which I recommend to all who are not indifferent to the horrors. Looking forward for new games from this guys, but also with to fix all issues, dat game has for now ^^
I liked the game even though it was short, about 45 mins, and had a few bugs in it, like the phone glitch you can see in the video, it was not unplayable. The story was interesting enough for me to keep playing but I am not sure if this game has multiple endings but it has different outcomes in certain scenes and dialogue based on your choices. I would recommend especially since it seems the devs are trying to fix the bugs.
here's a video fo me playing about the first 15 mins if you want to judge for yourself

Typical Nightmare combines everything we love about indie games: creative design, an unusual story based on real cases and a great atmosphere of a true horror game from the past. Definitely worth a chance.
Update* - The fatal save glitch was fixed thankfully. It plays better but still some odd issues. I did manage to float above the world and had to hard exit out of the game. The ending was so abrupt I was very confused ?? Here is my complete playthrough -

I think that the initial story behind this game is strong.
I played a good bit of the beginning on my YouTube channel.
I like the idea of a couple being haunted in some way and having to consider calling in an “expert” in this field. So many horror films start out in this scenario including the fact that he is skeptical of her story at first.
It turns out that the man is in fact being haunted. The game quickly turns into a Nightmare on Elm street movie come to life. The movements are very, very slow. I do like the POV and the sounds of the game. The atmospheric sounds are quite loud.
Bugs: There are serious bugs on day 1. The subtitles are all jumbled together and don’t match the speaker’s voice all the time. The cut scenes sometimes seem to play out of order. The best voice in the game is of course the demon. The absolute worst bug I encountered was that it did not save my progress. I emailed them and they said this was fixed.
So far I would recommend the game, hoping that the bugs get sorted out.
Sorry, but this is awful. Not the fact that this is clearly a low-budget production, which is fine as I´m playing mostly Indie-Games, but charging 8Euros for this is really naughty.
I just don´t get why there are any positive reviews on this honestly. The optimization is poor. The doors are so clunky, closing and opening on their own, too many senseless and poor cutscenes, voice acting is not great and has different volumes on each charracter (from I-can´t-hear-you to Monologues that almost blasts your ears.)
I don´t get what is going on in like 90% of the time, the main protagonist talks like he is major stoned which makes his answers hilarious and takes away all the atmosphere which this game is trying to create (but cannot achieve because everything feels so unfinished). The evil spooky p00py demon voice just grinds gears and adds nothing valuable to the story (if there is any)
Faced two gamebreaking bugs in the Building, first: The elevator did drive upstairs without me (I got stuck on the ground and could not get out), second playthrough (after the patch) while meeting the people upstairs thousand events where triggering at the same time, with constant bumping in the background, my wife apparently talks to me while the subtitles constantly switching languages and the game is giving me 3 answers I could not choose while I be pushed over into the door. 5 seconds later the protagonist calls the police (after he tried to figure out the number... dear lord..) and this scene repeats itself 4-5 times and then... nothing. Games just freezes, still with awful bumping in the background. I could not reload any savegame and would have to start all over agin.
No way... never again.
I played alpha version of a game and already saw about a third of the story campaign. At that moment I managed to play on a suitable computer. My laptop is too weak for such games, so the review is based on impressions from the alpha version.
What I liked:
- an intriguing plot;
- good-quality (for indie) animation;
What I did not like:
- optimization;
- a number of minor bugs and shortcomings;
- a long introductory scene.
In general, I leave a positive feedback for this game in the hope that the second half of the plot is interesting too, and developers will fix bugs and improve optimization. Such indie games should be given a chance.
Runs very slow, very clunky. Couldn't even get all the way up the stairs cause of a glitch or something... Don't recommend at this time.
