I wish I could play this game, but it loads to an unusable black screen, at least on Windows 10 x64. At least one other user has this issue. No point in buying it unless they release a new build that gets past this problem.

What a Missed Opportunity!
This could have been so good! Mercury Race does the Mercury really well, but does the Race poorly...
MERCURY
Mercury Race's TRON aesthetic is nearly perfect. Glowing line graphics tickle the inseam of my nostalgia pants. The only thing that would improve the look are flashes of light when things explode.
Mercury Race's shooting is a delight, if you have the Steam Controller. I imagine the shooting would not be so great using other control methods. For me, I use the thumb stick to steer, and the gryo to aim the target reticule. Any time a (red) enemy is inside the square target reticule, it gets shot automatically. It's great!
RACE
Here's where things are not so hot. Calling Mercury Race a racing game requires a liberal definition of the term.
First of all is the handling. The craft handling feels like it was written in the early 90s. No sense of weight, physics or drifting. It's just go, turn, and use the brake to turn really fast. The tracks have super sharp bends and most of the time I negotiate them by dragging my face along the guard rail until the bend straightens out. The track has obstacles that are placed in a way that they were expecting someone was controlling the game's craft with an Atari CX40 Joystick. Go left or right and the craft bilocates in either direction in a very 80's way to avoid the obstacles. But that's now how this game is controlled. It's a pseudo-modern racing game where you steer and accelerate. In other words, there's no way you are getting through these tracks without smacking into some of these obstacles unless you slow waaay down first and that's no fun. What the game needed was a retro aesthetic with a modern feel. Like Wipeout, Need for Speed, or even Outrun feels. Widen the track and space the obstacles apart so they can be negotiated without having to use the braille method. Give the craft a sense of weight with real physics and a bit of drifting. This game could have been so great. Missed it by that much.
Second of all, it's not much of a racer. There are no opponents to race against. It is you and only you trying to get past the finish line and if you do it under a certain time you get a medal. That old chestnut. It has local multiplayer but I don't have anyone here to try that out. To add one more wrinkle, after the first couple of tracks, the game should be called Mercury Survive, instead of Mercury Race. The reason is because every time you smack into an obstacle, or grind your face along the ouside guard rail of a tight bend, you are losing energy. When you lose all of your energy, your craft explodes and it's GAME OVER. So the game becomes more about surviving to the end of an obstacle course than a "race."
As much as I was endeared by the look of the game and the unique shooting mechanic that felt like it was made for the Steam Controller, I cannot recommend the game unless you find it heavily discounted. I paid $2 for it and that seems about right. I hate putting it that way because the developers are probably really nice guys and fellow citizens of the Grid. It's just... Not that good of a racing game. :/ It also loses points for not having a cockpit view.
For a racing game that has somewhat similar shooting mechanics but does indy racing right, I recommend looking at Road Redemption. That goes double for you if you have a Steam Controller!

Cool racing game!
Clean and pleasant graphics and a modern f-zero vibe. A good amount of challenging tracks and an amazing soundtrack.
The controls took some time to get confortable with, but work ok after a while.
Looking forward to play it with friends!

A ver si se hacen más juegos de este estilo sin tener que pagar una fortuna.
Le seguiré la pista a la empresa que lo ha desarrollado, si siguen haciendo juegos así aqui tienen mi dinero.
