Another great TR game, one of my old favorites. Story ties in well with TR Anniversary and TR Legend, and will be a little confusing if you didn't play those. Gameplay is good, sometimes Lara controls are a little wacky compared to Legend, and the PC version is just a bit more so. With PC there's a bug in the very beginning that makes it impossible to progress unless V-Sync is enabled, which is random.
But good game. Combat has more features than before, there's a lot of weapon customization at level starts, outfit choices, the same ol' reward system. Locations are gorgeous, soundtrack is great, not as bomb as Legend but that's a high standard. If you're a TR fan, I definitely recommend this game along with the other two games in the trilogy.

unplayable, had no issues on the 360, i cant even get past the underwater pressure plate area, as soon as i place the pressures on the plate they fly off and then disappear like magic, such a shame because this was one of the best games in the franchise
do not give $1 for this game. In the first 20 minutes of the game you have to put two boulders on a platform to open a door. Every time you attempt to do so the boulders bug out and fly all over the room. Game is literally the definition of unplayable.
Get past the janky mechanics and its a good time.
Id love to see this game in a remastered version and pls add support for ultra wide resolution

This game is extremely unpolished, it's clear why Uncharted stole Tomb Raiders thunder in the late 00s. It's laughable how janky and broken this game can be at times. Honestly this game is on par with Angel of Darkness in terms of jank but it's nowhere as interesting or ambitious as AoD was.
Despite the mess, I had a lot of fun. Each level is quite big and has a lot of decent puzzles and platforming. Thailand and Mexico in particular are a real highlight. I got this game for $1 and got just under 10 hours worth of content out of it, not to shabby.
Unfortunately, it's unplayable for me. Starting with the puzzle where you have to put stones on a plate, the stones fly through the room as if by magic. One has completely disappeared. The controls are also annoying. Unfortunately, I'm going to uninstall the game. It's a shame, because otherwise I like the game a lot.

You cannot pass the second level because when you go to place the boulders on the pressure plate it flings all over the place and you cant even try to cheese it to fall into place. Unplayable and not worth the $1 on sale.
Whether you will be able to enjoy Tomb Raider: Underworld is going to depend entirely on your tolerance for jank and general lack of polish. Underworld builds on the formula established by its immediate predecessors Anniversary and Legend, concluding the so-called LAU Trilogy's story and iterating especially on Legend's gameplay and design.
Whereas Legend was fairly action-packed for a classic Tomb Raider game, with chase sequences and plenty of combat, Underworld dials that down a few notches in favour of a greater emphasis on puzzling and platforming. This is, in my view, a good thing - and the reason why I'm giving the game a thumbs-up - but it really doesn't help that a) Lara has the annoying tendency to fling herself off into the abyss when you're trying to jump sideways, and b) whatever equation is used for fall damage in this game seems to be fundamentally broken. Sometimes you're just fine dropping down certain distances, other times you'll die from fall damage after a drop from the same distance. As a result, it's hard to gauge intuitively how far you can fall safely; you can probably imagine how annoying that would be in a platformer.
That said, the fundamental gameplay loop of exploring tombs and solving puzzles is rock-solid here, and while I found the story a bit underwhelming, I still think it's very nice to spend more time with the Keeley Hawes-voiced Lara, as she's the best.
I'd definitely recommend Tomb Raider: Underworld if you're in the mood for some puzzle-platforming while not being especially bothered by jankiness and the occasional glitch.

I have been a Tomb Raider fan for many years, my first experience being Tomb Raider 2 on the PS1. Though this second iteration of Lara Croft and the franchise may not be quite as potent or classic as her original go with Core Design, I think that the LAU trilogy deserves a little more praise than it gets from fans. I think Underworld is the strongest visually and plays the best, but suffers from haywire camera and controls in tight spaces. Overall smooth game and a good return to form for the franchise, albeit with its own flaws. Does not hold a light to the originals but comes the closest out of this trilogy of Tomb Raider games. 8/10
Game broke at the end. Super frustrating level design mixed with Lara not doing what you intend half the time.
I played this on Linux and it runs flawlessly, didn't have any of the issues that other people mentioned with Windows 10/11.
The game on its full price is not worth it, the movement is clunky, it's difficult to control, feels like Lara decides herself what she wants to do. The camera is terrible, I'm not sure what's going on with the camera, but it is one of the only games that give me motion sickness and a headache. But the graphics are pretty okay, I think the underwater is pretty cool and artistic, I love the sudden change in colors when going from underwater to the surface, I love the 2007 Xbox 360 aesthetic.
This is the first Tomb Raider game I've played way back in the day, I have very fond memories, I revisited this now after more than a decade, and it is not as good as I remember, I wish I hadn't tainted my memories, maybe I put too high expectations on the game because of my early memories, and revisiting it disappointed me.
I bought this on sale for super cheap, and I think the price that I paid makes it worth it, but I don't think promotions should change what I view in the game.

Back from the Underworld. In my humble opinion Underworld is THE BEST GAME in the early editions of the franchise HANDS DOWN. Absolutely beautiful and true to life design and graphics. Great storyline and above all GREAT FUN TO PLAY. i hope you ENJOY playing this Tombraider entry as much as i did. RAID ON FOLKS-RAID ON !!!!

Tomb Raider Underworld? More like BugWorld. While playing, we can only experience the game's bugs. The combat mechanics are terrible (I noticed it today). But also we can fight against Natla [God damn this woman (?)], spiders, bats, lizardmen etc. blah blah blah. Lara is so delicate in this game and this is really annoying. Under my control, she frequently falls off ledges (by accident) and dies so easily. If the producers thought this made the game more realistic, they were wrong (sorry). Anyway, I'm still in love with Lara's tumbles. Surprisingly, I recommend this game. You should feel the anger by experiencing how Lara gets stuck on objects and ends up making you hit Alt+F4 in pure rage.

Game won't work until you find whichever guide works for you and your system. Even after getting the game to run it still feels infested with bugs, mainly from being rushed on release it seems.
Gameplay is fun climbing, acrobatic gun action, and engaging exploration. It's fun looting treasure and shooting endangered animals. The story is like a Michael Bay movie, in that it is so stupid it's nonsensical but still serviceable and entertaining. There isn't a whole lot of depth beyond that.
Playing this in 2024 feels interesting because the franchise is currently in an identity crisis. I don't think this was intended to be some grand meta-narrative commentary on the franchise, but the shoe certainly fits now. [spoiler] One of the main antagonists this time around is a clone of Lara. There are multiple Laras contending, just like how there are two different ideas for this series at odds with each other. [spoiler]
Kind of hard to recommend with all the glitches and bugs, but I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would.
Janky and shitty controls, buggy mess, not fun unless you love old tomb raiders. Music is kinda good though.
Ok short an to the point. looks great runs and smooth just like it did back on console's. However! Random frame drops to around 11 fps even with v sync on in certain areas. Kinda sucks because this was my favorite Tomb Raider. I know another remaster collection is coming out but not sure if this is part of it.

Out of the trilogy of "Anniversary", "Legend" and "Underworld", this game is by far the worst.
Puzzles and story are decent, but they the game itself is horrible because:
The controls are horrible.
The movement and mechanics are horrible.
The camera is horrible.
And so many things feel broken while playing it.
It's a good Tomb Raider game.
The platforming is so bad. It's tedious and unpredictable. Look for something better to play...
Back in the day, I played Tomb Raider II on Windows. I found that game to be engaging and challenging, with responsive controls that allowed you to perform a precise sequence of actions.
TR:U pretends to be Tomb Raider, but I can only give it several downvotes. (I stopped playing after almost 19 hours of gameplay.)
Downvote 1: Imprecise controls, such that you can never be certain whether Laura will flub her action. My sense is that there is a programmed 20% chance (in critical puzzle situations) for Laura to do the opposite.
Downvote 2: The camera autocenter is aggressive, such that you find that your greatest enemy is the camer.
Downvote 3: Directional movement is with respect to the camera, such that you need to adjust your direction as the (said aggressive) camera changes around you.
Downvote 4: Placement and quantity of enemies breaks the logical immersion, and due to the lack of challenge, they are merely roadbumps.
Downvote 5: Zero sense of challenge or risk because enemies are simple bullet sponges, and it is too easy to merely pickup where you happened to die. (Keeping in mind that you died due to the controls.)
Downvote 6: Unintuitive save slot system, where the number of saves increments, but your latest will always be in the first position. (I just saved you trouble by explaining that because it certainly isn't clear in the game.)
Downvote 7: When traversing hand-over-hand along chain moving in the opposite direction, you must tap Y to go faster. This is mechanic is not explained in the game.
Downvote 8: Mid-game, you will start repeatedly dying because handholds or platforms are crumbling without your realizing it.
Downvote 9: The game sound has a deep bass rumbling that is omnipresent and detracts from the entire presentation.
Downvote 10: The game cannot be described as "crafted." The building blocks of the game were coded, and then they apparently gave someone a deadline to slap a bunch of levels together, such that the maps are big and pretty, but lack interesting details.
I suppose that I could gripe some more, but how about I give the game a -10 score, and let you go read reviews for some other game?

honestly this game is not bad but its just by far my least favorite tomb raider. theres nothing that really sets it apart.
Too easy for my taste, but for the sake of nostalgia it always grants the positive emotions. I know this isn't what Tomb Raider is or who Lara Croft is, but for an entry level "Raider" it is okay.

Lara Croft in a swimsuit is still the best 🤤. but when I play there are still some building bugs that make me uncomfortable, yes maybe it's because of the old game and ported to pc. this game is just for nostalgia, but maybe later when I'm horny I'll continue playing this game.
Played for a couple of hours, now and never felt so frustrated over the camera angles. The charm of Tomb Raider and puzzles that come with it are still there. But the camera man, uff. I will recommend this game if you're not into the camera movement of the game.
Tomb Raider: Underworld is well worth playing, it could be the best one ever. With the exception of the camera having a mind of its own, it is good to play with a mouse and keyboard.
I expected a nice platformer and engaging adventure, what I've got instead is terrible camera, terrible controls, terrible UI, unlimited oxygen, and gravity-defying boobs.

I played this game on the Nintendo Wii back in 2009 or 10. Simply a top game to this day and unimaginably good graphics for 2008.

This might be my favorite Tomb Raider game.
Legend, Anniversary and Underworld all feature the same game-breaking bugs that can utterly kill your ability to progress. For Anniversary and Underworld, those bugs can appear in the *very first level*. These games are fun but don't expect to actually be able to play them all the way through, I guess.
