Back from the Underworld. In my humble opinion Underworld is THE BEST GAME in the early editions of the franchise HANDS DOWN. Absolutely beautiful and true to life design and graphics. Great storyline and above all GREAT FUN TO PLAY. i hope you ENJOY playing this Tombraider entry as much as i did. RAID ON FOLKS-RAID ON !!!!
Flawless Lara.
Tomb Raider Underworld? More like BugWorld. While playing, we can only experience the game's bugs. The combat mechanics are terrible (I noticed it today). But also we can fight against Natla [God damn this woman (?)], spiders, bats, lizardmen etc. blah blah blah. Lara is so delicate in this game and this is really annoying. Under my control, she frequently falls off ledges (by accident) and dies so easily. If the producers thought this made the game more realistic, they were wrong (sorry). Anyway, I'm still in love with Lara's tumbles. Surprisingly, I recommend this game. You should feel the anger by experiencing how Lara gets stuck on objects and ends up making you hit Alt+F4 in pure rage.

Game won't work until you find whichever guide works for you and your system. Even after getting the game to run it still feels infested with bugs, mainly from being rushed on release it seems.
Gameplay is fun climbing, acrobatic gun action, and engaging exploration. It's fun looting treasure and shooting endangered animals. The story is like a Michael Bay movie, in that it is so stupid it's nonsensical but still serviceable and entertaining. There isn't a whole lot of depth beyond that.
Playing this in 2024 feels interesting because the franchise is currently in an identity crisis. I don't think this was intended to be some grand meta-narrative commentary on the franchise, but the shoe certainly fits now. [spoiler] One of the main antagonists this time around is a clone of Lara. There are multiple Laras contending, just like how there are two different ideas for this series at odds with each other. [spoiler]
Kind of hard to recommend with all the glitches and bugs, but I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would.
Janky and shitty controls, buggy mess, not fun unless you love old tomb raiders. Music is kinda good though.
Ok short an to the point. looks great runs and smooth just like it did back on console's. However! Random frame drops to around 11 fps even with v sync on in certain areas. Kinda sucks because this was my favorite Tomb Raider. I know another remaster collection is coming out but not sure if this is part of it.

Out of the trilogy of "Anniversary", "Legend" and "Underworld", this game is by far the worst.
Puzzles and story are decent, but they the game itself is horrible because:
The controls are horrible.
The movement and mechanics are horrible.
The camera is horrible.
And so many things feel broken while playing it.
It's a good Tomb Raider game.
The platforming is so bad. It's tedious and unpredictable. Look for something better to play...
Back in the day, I played Tomb Raider II on Windows. I found that game to be engaging and challenging, with responsive controls that allowed you to perform a precise sequence of actions.
TR:U pretends to be Tomb Raider, but I can only give it several downvotes. (I stopped playing after almost 19 hours of gameplay.)
Downvote 1: Imprecise controls, such that you can never be certain whether Laura will flub her action. My sense is that there is a programmed 20% chance (in critical puzzle situations) for Laura to do the opposite.
Downvote 2: The camera autocenter is aggressive, such that you find that your greatest enemy is the camer.
Downvote 3: Directional movement is with respect to the camera, such that you need to adjust your direction as the (said aggressive) camera changes around you.
Downvote 4: Placement and quantity of enemies breaks the logical immersion, and due to the lack of challenge, they are merely roadbumps.
Downvote 5: Zero sense of challenge or risk because enemies are simple bullet sponges, and it is too easy to merely pickup where you happened to die. (Keeping in mind that you died due to the controls.)
Downvote 6: Unintuitive save slot system, where the number of saves increments, but your latest will always be in the first position. (I just saved you trouble by explaining that because it certainly isn't clear in the game.)
Downvote 7: When traversing hand-over-hand along chain moving in the opposite direction, you must tap Y to go faster. This is mechanic is not explained in the game.
Downvote 8: Mid-game, you will start repeatedly dying because handholds or platforms are crumbling without your realizing it.
Downvote 9: The game sound has a deep bass rumbling that is omnipresent and detracts from the entire presentation.
Downvote 10: The game cannot be described as "crafted." The building blocks of the game were coded, and then they apparently gave someone a deadline to slap a bunch of levels together, such that the maps are big and pretty, but lack interesting details.
I suppose that I could gripe some more, but how about I give the game a -10 score, and let you go read reviews for some other game?

honestly this game is not bad but its just by far my least favorite tomb raider. theres nothing that really sets it apart.
Too easy for my taste, but for the sake of nostalgia it always grants the positive emotions. I know this isn't what Tomb Raider is or who Lara Croft is, but for an entry level "Raider" it is okay.

Lara Croft in a swimsuit is still the best 🤤. but when I play there are still some building bugs that make me uncomfortable, yes maybe it's because of the old game and ported to pc. this game is just for nostalgia, but maybe later when I'm horny I'll continue playing this game.
Played for a couple of hours, now and never felt so frustrated over the camera angles. The charm of Tomb Raider and puzzles that come with it are still there. But the camera man, uff. I will recommend this game if you're not into the camera movement of the game.
Tomb Raider: Underworld is well worth playing, it could be the best one ever. With the exception of the camera having a mind of its own, it is good to play with a mouse and keyboard.
I expected a nice platformer and engaging adventure, what I've got instead is terrible camera, terrible controls, terrible UI, unlimited oxygen, and gravity-defying boobs.

I played this game on the Nintendo Wii back in 2009 or 10. Simply a top game to this day and unimaginably good graphics for 2008.

Great puzzles, great platforming, combat sucks, enable vsynch to avoid bugs, old Lara is a hot milf. Go fu cking buy it.
This might be my favorite Tomb Raider game.
Legend, Anniversary and Underworld all feature the same game-breaking bugs that can utterly kill your ability to progress. For Anniversary and Underworld, those bugs can appear in the *very first level*. These games are fun but don't expect to actually be able to play them all the way through, I guess.
First Tomb Raider game I've played, and besides Southern Mexico making no sense to me, it was a pretty fun game.
A solid linear 10 hour adventure which takes you back to an era when AAA games weren't mostly shit.
Key features:
-Hot female characters from an era when DEI wasn't even a concept.
-Gorgeous looking exotic environments that still hold up today (especially in 1440p).
-Cinematic platforming with lots of different moves.
-Satisfying gunplay (Except the tranquilizer gun, who the fuck uses that?).
-A surprisingly well written story based on Norse mythology.
Better than the last 3. more animation, sexier, better puzzles...proof that graphics is nothing if the gameplay is not good.

Oddly enough, this is the one I enjoyed the most in this trilogy. Not a bad game, but very underwhelming. Probably a common characteristic of these games. Might as well play this one if you're already in deep with the tomb raider franchise.
Like everytime anything takes a swing at north myth and tries to make it their own, they all kinda fail.
But at least this game has the courtesy to mention the gauntlets, they always seem to forget them.
So with the games story basically taking a dump on the lore, the gameplay itself is just as good as Legend, there are however no QTE's and thats a bonus (unless i blocked them from my mind as i was playing). And even if the motorcycle segments do feel a bit stiff, they do give you the feeling of breaking off from running all the time.
The puzzles in this game are a little bit harder than the first game, but shouldnt take too long to figure out, at least they are fun to do, total game time is about 8 hours give or take ofc (at least for my most recent playthrough on Hard). I would suggest playing the game on normal however, solely for the reason that enemies are a bit spongy on hard and i dont think the puzzles are different anyway.
And the music! after having not played the game in about 6 years, i had completely forgotten about the score, some of the tracks are goosebump levels of good (even just thinking about them). So i hope you will experience the same as me there.
Locations are, i mean the graphics are kinda dated, especially if you recently played "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" just before this game, like I did, but hey, you see its a jungle and you roll with it, the most important aspect of a game is the gameplay after all, and the gameplay is good.
My enjoyment score for this one is about 80% (a bit lower on hard)
But theres where its at.
It is kinda cool that you can choose which weapon you will bring or what outfit to use before entering a level, Legend didnt have that, I also experienced WAAAAAAY less bugs in Underworld than Legend or Anniversary, both of which on PC, are sorry messes of bug haven. Luckily Underworld is not messy.
It's also a fantastic 3D vision experience, the 3D increases the immersion immensely.
If only 'Legend' was this bug-free on PC, the 360 version is the best for that game.
this game was fun and for the money it really is worth it i just don`t get it to me this one was better than 1,2 and 3 but yet cheaper .like i said it`s worth it.
Beautiful game of exploration but just like some of the reviews here, it is UNPLAYABLE until Vsync is on (those stone cubes will fly away whether you put them down or throw them). I was so annoyed and close to leaving a bad review cause of this. Game-play wise there are tons of puzzles, I admit I struggled on some parts and decided to look at walkthroughs just to get past it. Legend was my first tomb raider and it's just nostalgic to see how it continued.

Such a great way to invigorate the franchise! This was the quintessential Lara Croft, and a great way to bring Lara into the modern age, along with Legend! The only complaint I have is that this version doesn't have the DLC levels or outfits, Beneath The Ashes, and Lara's Shadow. Sad day, but it is still a fun game!

My first videogame that ive ever played with, I was maybe 9 or 10 years old, and i had a blast playing with it.
Almost ten years later this game (I genuinely dont know how) still holds its ground as one of the most beautiful Tomb Raider games up to date. The map designs are really creative and the mythology with Thors gauntlets, belt and hammer really adds a nice touch to the overall feeling of the game.
HOWEVER
This game is nearly 16 years old, so if you are trying it out for the first time, adjust your expectations accordingly to that.
The combat (much like the other classic TR games) is terrible and the story leaves much to be desired.
Aside from these two points I really think this is still one of the best TR games ever, and I recommend it to everyone who wants to play with a fun adventure-puzzle game with beautiful scenery and and interesting topic.

I was 14 when this game was released. It was the first video game i bought myself with my own worked for money.
The story behind this game. The graphics behind it, its all absolutely amazing. This game finish up the Legends trilogy of Lara Croft (Anniversaries, Legends, Underworld) and is a perfect finish to what a Tomb Raider game was originally meant to be.
Overall i enjoyed the game, but it is also my least favorite of this trilogy. It just didn't feel as impact full and memorable as legend or annivesary. Graphics are beautiful especially thailand level. Gameplay was good though camera was annoying at times. I recommend the game for sure. My favorite of the 3 is Anniversary.

Great graphics, fun gameplay mechanics, an interesting, and admittedly confusing, story AND I get to take revenge on Natla after anniversary? Honestly my only complaints are that the steam version doesnt have "Beneath the Ashes" and "Lara's Shadow", some levels are a bit difficult to navigate, and the controls take some getting used to. I'd recommend playing on controller and just making the controls the same as anniversary, then its much less difficult to adapt. But overall, great game, 8.1/10 (Personal Ratings: 8/10 for gameplay, 9/10 for graphics and 8/10 for story)
