AMAZINGO (LARAKINDASECSY)
Pretty good. Cyrstal Dynamics struggles to make good characters and story, but everything else is great.
Buggy as hell. Shit mechanics. Too parkour-focused gameplay. Only good thing is Lara's character model.
Lara Croft's final modern game before the series and character became something far removed from what it was. This one feels like a Tomb Raider game where feedback was taken seriously after Legend and Anniversary, bringing the series more in line with classic Tomb Raider. Out is the constant radio chatter and dated visuals, in is a more atmospheric adventure with a darker tone that respects it's audience's intelligence and love for the series a lot more.
It's an 8/10 as is and without a doubt Crystal Dynamics most faithful attempt at a Tomb Raider game. Probably a 9/10 if it had a bit more polish and the missing Xbox exclusive content, which gave the game it's true ending. It's a very underrated (and still very beautiful looking) gem and I highly recommend it for a taste of what once was, but with some of the newer visuals and effects that came with it's younger age.
lala croft!!!!
Pros:
- feet
- lara croft's 32,816 polygons
Cons:
whoever designed the climbing mechanics along with the camera must be the biggest lobotomized mongoloids ever
best lara croft interpretation imo and right before legend. i lovee that amanda and natla made a comeback, and i love the whole thor's artifact hunting storyline.
my god theres a lot like a lot of underwater sequence... and lara's arms oh god
graphics are wonderful for a 2008 game, sad that it dont support steam screenshot, i mean good for my memory tho cause i'd be taking tons of screenshots if i could lol
oh and the puzzle... i'd say its more complicated than the last two games, ig its bcs the graphics are getting better so its more harder to really see where should i go or the right way to go, cuz they really made it harder to know where to jump and all like the ledges i mean. yeah i definitely got a bit of headache playing this, or maybe im just that dumb
Chronological continuation after Tomb Raider Legend and final entry in Legend trilogy. I enjoyed this more than Tomb Raider Anniversary and a bit more than Tomb Raider Legend.
The game is a bit longer than Tomb Raider Legend, but it is still so short. I liked the story and love how they included Tomb Raider Anniversary into this trilogy's canon, so it does not feel like it is excluded from this set and still makes sense in the story. The game feels more polished than Legend and Anniversary, which includes visuals and gameplay. Parkour controls feel more polished than before, although once in a while there are still some oddities. Lara has more weapon options than it was in Legend, she can also use a bike for travelling through the levels and using it for puzzle solving. The game finally got rid of boring and basic quick time events. Instead of clicking a button, now certain sections slow down time and you can play through it, which allows different approaches to dangerous situation.
From things that I did not like much are Lara's animations. The game was done with motion capture and in behind the scenes you can see how talented the motion capture actresses are and how it looks so good. Unfortunately it did not translate well to the game, as they have been edited in a way that looks souless, especially swan dive, which looks so stiff and artificially spedup, while Legend and Anniversary had it more graceful. Camera at times is very annoying, zooming on Lara extremely close in tight spaces or going crazy when just doing parkour to traverse the level. Sprint also zooms in on her butt all the time, which is very baffling considering what kind of outfit she is wearing in first level of the game. Fight controls in this game remind of Angel of Darkness, with shooting and strafing. While dual targeting and adrenaline time slow is amazing, combat itself does not feel that good, even though you can roll and dodge like in Legend and Anniversary, but here it is so much stiffer. I am also not a fan of having extremely a lot of secrets in each level. It does not make them special if there are so many of them, especially if it is just some silver object collectible all the time. First half of the game was so cool and pretty and then second one was a bit disappointing, which most likely can be attributed to troubling development.
But despite all negatives, I did really enjoy it and it is sad seeing the series ending... until next reboot.
Rating: 3/5
This game is mostly good. It's nothing new really, it's nothing bad either. It's just "mid" for a Tomb Raider I guess. It can get annoying at times if you dare to not hit a surface precisely with the angle and speed the game wants you to.

I love the story and Character progression of Laura.
good graphics, i prefer the level 1 to level 4 and then it becomes less interesting, but overall is a good game for 2008.
The game is honestly very average. Comparing it to Legend it's a massive step up in terms of quality with the graphics, gameplay elements, controls, additions etc. However, the level design is horrendous, you never have any idea of where to go and what to do, the amount of times i needed to bring up a guide to show me roughly what I needed to do is insane. There are no markings, some of the puzzles make no sense and the levels at times are enormous. The controls sometimes are awful as well with Lara just jumping wherever she wants and at times whilst playing the levels I just wanted to play something else cause it kept dragging on and the levels made no sense. However, this game for the most part is still really enjoyable and can be finished quite quickly whilst still playing for other parts of the game and finishes the original story before the reboot which this time around ended up being quite fun and the mechanics sometimes being good as well. If this game got a remaster with better maps and a couple of better placed items it would get a much better rating
5 / 10
wish I could write good things about this one, but it always crashes for me near the start in croft manner when you finished the tutorial once the screen goes white
TLDR: Don't play this, just watch a youtube video. The game is incomplete (two exclusive dlcs never got ported) anyways.
The game itself could be good. It's movement is pretty alright, and you can definitely figure things out for even more controlled movement. But, as you play, you're going to notice the game steadily decreasing in experience quality level by level. I am now quitting because of xibalba/southern mexico. This whole level is awful and highlights one of the biggest issues I have with this game. The lack of a true save mechanic.
In this game, you caaaaan technically save you progress, but it's the same as a checkpoint. So, what happens when you want to reload a save? Get booted right back to the start of a puzzle. For me, no true autosave was made, I messed up, and had to redo an already frustrating puzzle (the 4 tiles in the underground temple in xibalba). I quit here because, unbeknownst to me, I had to bring a motorbike down this tunnel. Now, I thought I heard the entrance close, so I figured I'd reload a save. Only, the save I made, before going in, took me back to the veeeeeery beginning of this whole area.
The climbing puzzles are mostly fine, but at times the jank has got some stank. The cutscenes are not skippable, so upon replays you're going to have to sit through every single one (which for puzzles can be a bit annoying, like when you get reset). The combat feels unnecessary as always. It works, but feels very repetitive after the first few encounters. Southern mexico, again, highlights this. Initially, oh, here's a panther. Okay, now two panthers. Now 3 panthers and 4 armed gunmen! It just feels a bit annoying, like the shooting is just a roadblock to getting to the next climbing puzzle, which is all I really want anyways.
The game, again, can be good. However the lack of barebones QoL save mechanics is going to screw you over if you mess up or reload for other reasons. No reason not to have that in the game anyways. The combat works, but isn't anything to write home about. And the climbing really gets to be repetative (by that, I mean that xibalba feels like a slightly reskinned thailand in look and feel). I'd recommend tomb raider legend honestly. That game still had a dropoff in quality, but it was still fun most of the time. Plus the saves felt like they worked in that game too. Seriously, if you want to see the conclusion to this storyline, just google the gameplay, you won't be missing much, and you'll save yourself a lot of time and disappointment/frustration.
This is the most difficult of the three "06" games to recommend but it's still worth it especially now that it's sold at a reasonable price. They had the least amount of time to work on and polish this one and it shows. The camera is a pain, the story is rushed, and there are less cool locations. Lara also shows some wear as they were experimenting with skin techniques that weren't quite ready.
It's a great game and worth the asking price sale or no but be aware that this is the jankiest of the three.
Love the raider series had no problem wit game
It's actually not that bad but I still prefer Legend because of the smooth physics engine and the infinite acrobatic combos. This game just feels stiff and stilted compared to Legend, although they did make a lot of improvements, it just does not feel as smooth as Legend
Why does this game go kinda hard tho?
If you loved Tomb Raider: Legend, Underworld is the perfect follow-up, taking its fluid platforming, epic exploration, and gripping story to the next level. With stunning locations, immersive puzzles, and smooth movement, it’s the ultimate Tomb Raider experience.
10/10
I played this game when it originally came out but I wanted to play through it again since I just completed all the Remasters + Legend. This was such a great game, I really wish we would get more Tomb Raider games like this. There is something to say about games back then vs today. My only complaint about this was they added a wall jumping mechanic that really screwed with my platforming and resulted in a lot of deaths but that is more of a me issue trying to untrain my brain from previous games. I also had a little bit of clipping issues with Lara getting stuck in certain areas. Still an absolutely fantastic game. Ran perfect on the steamdeck, max settings, solid 60FPS
good
i can't even rate the game at this point. it's so glitchy, the controls don't always work, it lags out of nowhere like it's in slow-mo, and the mechanics are off A LOT. it's so tedious to play just because it doesn't work correctly.
even if this was a supposed to be good game, i cannot recommend this just because of how awful it is to play. i probably won't even be able to finish half the game because of how messed up it is to play!
*lag is so bad that i can't get past the first boss of the game. wish steam had a better return policy.
this one too.
This is a game from my childhood. I played it on Xbox360, and now I finally own my own PC and it went on sale for less than $1! I jumped at that price. Love this game to this day and it looks even better on PC
nice
Classic fun from when Lara was Lara - a solo sexy lady on a isolated exploration into unknown tombs.
Tedious, overly-contrived, set-piece puzzle crap. Where you figure out "the thing", so you can move on to the next tediously contrived bit of puzzle malarkey. So boring I had to stop playing it. Feels more like a job than an adventure.
A remaster for Underworld with the old exclusive DLCs ported to PC is exactly what the TR community needs! plz do 7-9 remastered next.
Runs perfectly on the Steam Deck.
Good old nostalgia.
Looks better than ever but the camera is fucked. I can't play more than a couple of hours without feeling sick. Other than that, this Lara Croft takes me right back to my teen years, but it probably wouldn't be as fun a game to newcomers looking to play for the first time. Expect to die a frustrating amount of times (classic TR experience)!
EVERGREEN GAME BEST EXPERIENCE
Glitched and can't get past certain level. Known glitch too and developers never fixed it.
Why the camera spin so much when you climb something or crawling it make my head hurt and the sensitive is like myself super sensitive one small touch of the mouse can make my camera circling around
Just play Uncharted instead
worth every bug
First level, was doing the first pressure plate puzzle and the rock launched itself into the water behind me as I walked over to it, locking me out of solving the puzzle. Why are ports these days so damned awful?
Best Game Ever Tomb Raider Series
8/10
Best LAU game
Does have a bit of jank, but not to an extent that would've hampered my experience overall.
I always looked down on Underworld for whatever reason. But once I gave it a proper chance, I actually ended up liking it quite a bit. It is worth mentioning that I had just finished Legend and Anniversary before playing Underworld, which helped tremendously. In isolation Underworld would definitely feel jankier.
In short, I would highly recommend this game, but with an emphasis that you should play the previous two first.
A direct improvement on Legend in just about every way. Puzzles, platforming, and combat, are all much smoother and more fun to complete. The story is a nice continuation as well. Some minor animation glitches now and then but it's not a big deal. Even if they get you killed, checkpoints are very frequent.
Graphically it holds up very well to me. The lighting is great, and the locations you visit are all beautiful.
Way too many treasures littered about though, if I had to complain about another minor thing. The reason that secret 'chime' was so iconic in the older games was because you didn't hear it very often, and you felt creative and accomplished when you did. It's almost every five seconds here.
.
couldn't get into the first Temple. Game is very choppy and wont let me set the blocks down on the pressure plate.
its so gooddd
This one is okay, the 2 before it were better for me, this is just feels like there's a lot of runtime padding.
Platforming is a buggy mess and the camera is horrible. Just watch a playthrough on youtube if you want to see how the story of the Legends trilogy ends.
glitchy but fun
So Fucking buggy.
good game
The Nathan Drake Collection doesn't hold up at all compared to the LAU trilogy , except maybe if you wanna watch a playthrough
Another great TR game, one of my old favorites. Story ties in well with TR Anniversary and TR Legend, and will be a little confusing if you didn't play those. Gameplay is good, sometimes Lara controls are a little wacky compared to Legend, and the PC version is just a bit more so. With PC there's a bug in the very beginning that makes it impossible to progress unless V-Sync is enabled, which is random.
But good game. Combat has more features than before, there's a lot of weapon customization at level starts, outfit choices, the same ol' reward system. Locations are gorgeous, soundtrack is great, not as bomb as Legend but that's a high standard. If you're a TR fan, I definitely recommend this game along with the other two games in the trilogy.
