DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND SAVE YOUR MONEY
its a horrible game, i am sorry but it is terrible. I love horror games and this one is just bad. I dont know if its because i have a french keayboard but :
- when something is flying at me and telling me to press right or something it never works
-the screamers are really bad
-the game is soooooooo slow like omg please can i continue
-the voice of the dude that you play is bad like he is not putting any effort starting the "second stage"
-they repeat the same things over and over with the plates and all its boring
I still need to finish the game but even going from 2 to 4 hours was a struggle with how bad the game is. I could not imagine paying full price for this, i paid 7e and i still find that way too much
Cheap and over reapeating jumpscares. The game feels empty. The lore seems interesting, but the gameplay overshadows it to a point I didnt even wanted to try to know the lore anymore. I may have played too much good horror games; so I can't understand how people can find this one overall positive. Feels like a really basic boring one for me.
Absolutely loving this game.
It would be amazing if there would be future expansions for more cases this is an epic horror experience.
You really have to let yourself get hooked by the story and the ambience.
I know when I reach the end I'm going to be left wanting more.

I don't know how i feel about this game.. It's well, actually is scary but once you realize that it's just exactly like any other day of your life, the game will no longer be scary.
Fantastic little horror. It's not even that little, if you take your time and don't rush there's at least over 5 hours of playtime here, and it is kept fresh and interesting the whole time. The sheer amount of different scares and varied gameplay throughout the runtime, especially for such a small development team, is impressive, even if it does involve a lot of dying to figure out what to do and what not to do. Don't be put off by the procedural structure description, it's actually quite linear and there's lots of very hardcrafted and bespoke sections that have an artist's hand evident in them. The puzzles strike that fine balance between challenge and not holding you up unnecessarily so you've just the right about of friction to keep you engaged throughout. Cannot recommend enough, one of the best horrors I've played in recent time.
I want to give this game a good review, but I can't. When the game randomly decides after you're more than half way through to just load a black screen so you have to start over, you get a thumbs down. I've tried restarting the game, computer, and reinstalling and nothing. I'm not going to start over and redo everything, sorry. If you don't have that problem, then this game was shaping up to be a top notch horror game. Good luck.
I loved to hate this game. It's fantastic in the sense of scaring you, its got a solid story too! I was horrified by its gore and they were not afraid to allow the darkness of the occult show. As a horror streamer I play them all and this one had me scared with in the first 5 minutes of playing. I would love to see more from these developers. I 💜
Another strong case against procedural generation. The majority of time is spent walking through identical hallways and triggering the same three jump scares repeatedly. Unfortunately the story is unfit to wrest this from the jaws of defeat, it's lacklustre and barely able to hold the experience together.
File it away forever.

I dont know how to explain the amount of bs in this game. You have to die multiple times in some sections just to know wtf you are suposed to do. Not only that, the same jumpscare happend 8 times in the span off 3 minutes. How is this suposed to be scary in the slightest? The same jumpscare 50 times? Thhis game feels like a 1000 word essay with 50 words of information. Drawn out bullshhhit., Dont buy. You will lose braincells.
I want to like this game but i really can`t. It is really frustrating and make me loose my mood and energy. Lots of trial and error and i really dislike mechanics like that. I have to do the same things again and again so many times, becuse its so easy to die, if u doesnt do exactly as the game wants you to. Like sprinkle salt on a witch while carving up a portal with a knife for example. U press the damn salt key but it doesnt react, as though u have pressed it. To die 25 times on a simple thing like that. Thats what the games like. Really frustrating. I hate it honestly.
One of the best horror games this year, the graphics are amazing, great ideas and a lot of different monsters.
The only thing for me is, the story is a little weird and confusing, but other then that a really good game.
An AMAZING horror experience with plenty of jump scares, intense atmosphere and puzzles. The developer reached out to me and thanked me for playing he's game, now that's what you call being humble and taking pride in their work.. What are you waiting for purchase it now, you wont regret it!
Below is my gameplay.

Just buy this game! It starts off slow but wow does it ramp up and give you a thrilling experience! The puzzles are not challenging but fun to decipher. The environment is quite spooky with so many different monsters! I think I lost count.
For such a small development team this is astounding work! The game is about average 2 and half hours long to beat and I enjoyed every moment of it. I am glad to support these developers.
If anyone is curious I have a video on my play through for the game : https://youtu.be/9WThGsSmm30
I think the game was great. A mix of alien isolation meets Resident evil 7. I think the procedural generation is great for extending the replay value as the same 2 scares never happen twice and well the overall objective stays the same the layout of the house will always be vastly different. Check out my video on this title and if you get to scared the subscribe button turns on the lights...........or is it the notification bell? i cant remember so just hit both. I cant wait to see the next cases this dev team comes up with.

If you're ready for terror and challenges, be prepared to take on 'Project Nightmares'! AKA Case 36: Henrietta Kedward. This was a fun and TENSE experience! It's a game that has you thinking, and it keeps you on your toes at all times! Take on this twisted case. You'll get to encounter terror, puzzles, cool locations, & monsters. There were definitely scary moments that made me yelp or jump. There's different gameplay mechanics & creative effects, making the gameplay refreshing, realistic, and memorable. Story is intriguing, & visuals are beautiful. Can't wait for the next case! :D
Original review with 2 hours of play :
In its current early access version, the atmosphere and the gameplay is already great. It's like the P.T. demo of the cancelled Silent Hill game. It reminds me of another good Steam game in this haunted mansions horror genre, Room 404. It's already a great game in the genre. Please, continue your great work on this game!
Update :
After more than 6 hours of play, I must add that to my review :
Thanks for this awesome experience. It was a chilling experience! I hope to have the opportunity someday to go through another case to solve with the Projet Nightmares team.
Update :
I just finished the game after more than 35 hours on it. It is a masterpiece of horror. My best horror game to date. I hope they produce a sequel.
i loved every moment of this game unfortunately i came across a bug once i've solved the picture puzzle.
i searched all the areas couldn't find anything new ... so i watched a quick walk through and afterwards i thought maybe its different for some one else so i watch more people play and theirs a door on a certain spot u gotta get into.... i would go to the same spot as everyone else and no door appeared ... i basically replay the game thinking it was a glitch and nothing.... this game has potential to be great .... at-least i thought so i really hope you fix it ... or the only nightmare there is ...its this bug lol . thanks im hopeful that the way will work on full release cheers
I played Project Nightmares in early access, and gave up as soon as I realized I wasn't going to finish the first level.
I was dying all the time without knowing why.
Sometimes you have to admit, when a game is not for you.
This is my case.
I consider this game:
-Excellent view.
-Very scary atmosphere.
-And incredibly complex gameplay, for a game that was made by just 2 people.
I keep the rating positive, as I hate to rate a game negatively.
The developer doesn't deserve this, just because I'm dumb to pass his game.
Yes, people leave negative reviews for stupid reasons, sometimes just to not admit they were dumb.
This shows promise, but, if I must be blunt, it's not worth the 12 bucks list price, at 15-20 total minutes of gameplay, once you've died a few times and know what to do.
I will NOT be returning it, because this looks like it could be amazing, but as things stand, there's literally only a few minutes of gameplay, and the game itself calls itself a 'demo' after you get through the one locked door. The atmosphere is fantastic. The graphics are quite... well, I don't want to say 'nice' cos it's a horror game with horrors from beyond the grave hunting you down in a delapidated old mansion, so, 'nice' is not the right word, but it looks suitibly horrific. This is the groundwork for a memorable horror game, but the fact is, even if a dish is high quality, if there's only a tiny morsel, you aren't going to want to pay full meal price. This is amazing for the work of two guys, and I look forward to more, but as things stand, I look at this more like a Kickstarter; I'm putting my money in the pot in hopes of a bigger game. As things stand ,this is a demo, or a 5 dollar game at most; there's just not enough content to justify paying over 10 dollars. My vote will be positive, because, what is here is amazing, but if I could vote 'neutral', I would.
TL;DR version. This is a phenominal demo, but, that's all it is. This is not a full game, and there are many more complete experiences for less on Steam. If you love horror, and want to see this fleshed out, I say buy it. If you're more middling on scary games, maybe invest elsewhere.
So after completing this game in roughly an hour I think I have a solid understanding of the pros and cons of this game. I'm gonna go ahead and start with the positives here. First and foremost I have to say I am extremely impressed with the graphics quality of this game, it matches Triple "A", games such as resident evil 7. On top of that it appears to be well optimized I did not notice any fps dips which is a major concern for a streamer such as myself. The next positive would have to be atmosphere (I'm going to draw a contrast between atmosphere and tension) when it come to the atmosphere, I feel drawn into the world. The randomly generated scares are well done and interesting and they do a good job creating a supernatural esque world. But this is where I think the game starts to falter in quality.
The problems I have with this game mainly stem from a lack of tension. The developers need to give us more time and context to truly understand why we are in danger, rather than immediately thrusting the player into a situation where paranormal things are happening and we are in imminent danger. I also believe that the initial scares were far too quick and without the context of why they were happening to begin with, it felt rushed and a bit silly.
I'm going to leave my playthrough : https://youtu.be/Bi8NuwIq9a0 (it's the full playthrough so don't watch it until you've played it yourself). For a better understanding of my criticism.
All that being said, the developer is very open to criticism and in this day and age that is very admirable. I give the game a solid 8/10.
So, I know there are only two people working on this project and props to that, so I will support this game by giving it a positive review. However, I did focus mostly on the negative aspects, mainly because if you take away the negatives, you're left with positives, right?
First, let me say that the game looks fantastic, it has an incredible atmosphere and physics are also good.
Everything looks sweet except Henrietta. She looks worse than the game's surrounding environment, her model is definitely of lower quality. The close up of her face doesn't help to make you more scared during the loading screen. Her movement animation is especially bad when you escape the salt barrier and you turn around to see her, I really hope you'll make this part better and creepier. Also, the sounds she makes are pretty ridiculous, her laugh is cheesy and comical. In an effective horror game, always remember the golden rule: less is more.
I have to say the IU when opening drawers is excessively bright and during the few QTE events I encountered, the UI was too big. This is not so good for realism or immersion. QTE are already bad choice per se, I'd say.
There is little to no story, maybe more is coming in the future? The procedurally generated levels are barely noticeable. It just feels like I'm playing more or less the same match. I get it, some turns are different, pictures on the walls are randomized and furniture as well, but that's it. Not nearly enough to give you the feeling of a different gaming experience as the developers claim. And lastly the random scares when you roam the hallways at slug speed, they are too frequent and get repetitive fast, they kinda lose their scare factor, maybe it's also because they don't sound that much effective to me.
In conclusion, I do have hope for the future, this game has huge potential. The developers seem nice and responsive to the community and for the most part, I feel like they have a good sense for horror. For now, I can still recommend this game for the price and for supporting its future development.
Unfortunately I can't reccomend the game in it's current state mostly due to the low amount of content and price for it, the game has potential and the devs are active which is great.
I've completed the game in about 20 mins while exploring which isn't a fair trade for $10.
Here's what I thought of the game overall:
Graphics: Very Good
Animation: Average (times was good, times was amatuer)
SFX/VA: Below Average (specially antagonist)
Soundtrack: Slightly Above Average
Gameplay/Game design: Average
I'd reccomend trying it in about 6/12 months for $10, perhaps new concepts would show up as well, but definitely not at the time of writting this review.
Best of luck to the devs.
