ohhhhhhhhh mrs snake ohhh mrs snake oh how I love you mrs snaaake <3
Would have loved to play this game as couch co-op, but the tiny view cameras make it straining on the eye and physically difficult.
This game is lovely and small and I am no longer at the bottom of the high score table, so I am giving it a positive review.
A nice twist on a all-time classic, great for what seems to be an era where couch co-op is coming back in style.
Gameplay is simple enough, but difficult to master as you try to get as many points as possible. In snake style the difficulty will come from how you go around gathering points.
Though you have a full 3D space to navigate instead, with four players at the same time this can be quite frantic and fun depending on who you play with.
Fun, fast-paced challenge
- Easy to control using the arrow/WASD keys and/or the left stick on controllers. I prefer using a controller as it feels more precise when it comes to navigating through gaps
-The music is fantastic imo and fits the game perfectly, allowing you to concentrate on
getting big . However, if its not to your taste or you'd rather listen to your own playlist,
just visit the sound options
-This next bit is very handy and worth mentioning. You can pause the game . Phone rang? Pause. About to get a high score and something's come up? Pause. Just want a cup of tea? PAUSE!
On the pause menu you can also toggle different viewport sizes to suit you.
-Single player is great fun but local multiplayer is where the true challenge awaits!
It’s a whole new game, where resources are shared and your space becomes much smaller, a lot faster and then there's the power ups. Fear them . Vision impairment, food magnets and getting frozen in time...they also stack! It's a wonderful nightmare so try it out with someone

Yeah, MRS SNAKE is a cute lil local multiplayer versus/single player score chaser game. It's all very simple in concept and design, so keep that in mind. It uses pretty much the exact same mechanic as the original Snake idea, with MRS SNAKE working in three-dimensions. The whole thing has the addictive score chasing thing going for it. It never gets too complicated, and the price-point reflects that appropriately.
Essentially, you cruise around the inside of a sphere collecting polygons; each time you eat one, your tail size increases. If you exit the sphere or run into your tail (or anyone's tail for that matter), your time meter decreases quicker than normal. You replenish the time meter by grabbing more polygons. Nothing super fresh, but it works well. Playing single player is fun enough, too. I played multiplayer - but skill level differed substantially between us and games were quite one-sided. There are a fair amount of in-game options such as snake color, FOV, and control options.
Pros:
+The whole thing is pretty simple, yet quite fun
+The price-point is good and reflects the amount of content and replayability you can approximately expect to get out of this one
+While single player is fun enough to merit the purchase, you will probably get a ton more time out of it if you have a group of local players to join in
+It's a neat enough idea
Cons:
-There are a ton of cheap, addicting and fun score chasers out there; yes, there are others you should play first if you have not and are on a tight game budget (Devil Daggers, Swarmlake, Tormenter X Punisher, etc.)
Cute little game that has a neat idea going for it.
Note: This review is based on singleplayer mode
MRS SNAKE is a take on Flying Snake, which in turn is a 3D version of the original Snake games.
The gameplay is simple: You are a snake in a restricted 3D area in space, and you have to eat items to get longer. You receive damage over time, or if you hit obstacles, and the only way to stay alive is to keep eating items, which replenishes some health. The longer you become, the more difficult it is to avoid crashing into yourself. If you die, you get a score based on your length.
While the concept is simple, it is also a rather unique game, and well-executed, making it a fun little score chaser:
- The growth rate is tuned well, and you don't spend too much time moving through an empty area
- The starvation mechanic forces you to take risks and make quick decisions, instead of encouraging boring, but more safe strategies
- The close-up 3rd person view with transparent snake head shows just enough that the gameplay is interesting, and obstacles never block your view in an awkward way
- Using the camera to look for nearby items while not crashing into your tail is a neat skill to improve
- The arcade-style runs are open-ended, and there's always room for self-improvement. Unlike the original snake games, you won't run into a situation where you cannot move anymore unless you are really good
- The minimalist and geometrically-themed look fits the game perfectly, w/o making it more performance-heavy than necessary. I particularly like the way it looks when parts of your tail move in different directions
[*]Gamepad support seems decent: No XInput required, and a large list of gamepads is supported. The developer seems to be active and has already improved some things based on user feedback. And even if a gamepad isn't detected correctly, there's a text file in the game folder which I assume can be modified to make it work
While the game is probably designed to be played with an analog stick, I slightly prefer to use my D-pad for quicker turns, so an analog input device is by no means required.
The specified high GPU requirements seem to assume a certain number of players, but for singleplayer or only a few players, it can be played with a much older GPU (performance seems to scale with the number of views).
I like the music, which reminds me of old experimental synthesizer stuff, but this game is just perfect for listening to your own music. Fortunately, music and sound effects can be enabled / disabled separately.
While I haven't played the (local) multiplayer mode, I would assume that it is fun: The game is plug and play, simple to learn, supports up to 8 players via split-screen, and has decent gamepad support. I also heard there are multiplayer-exclusive power-ups that you can use against each other.
Conclusion
While the game is simple, I find it quite enjoyable once in a while, particularly when I want to listen to some music, or if I feel like playing an avoid 'em up type of game, but want something more relaxing than a bullet hell shoot 'em up. It's well executed, it's one of a kind, the developer seems to respond to feedback, it's cheap, plug and play, has good gamepad support, and I assume multiplayer is fun.
My only complaint is that there are no online leaderboards, and gameplay could be a bit more varied in singleplayer mode. Also, online multiplayer would be a nice option.
This is quite a fun game for anyone who likes arcade style games. I've not played it a whole lot yet, but it's fun so far and I'm getting better and better!
beautifully simple game, takes me back to the days of PS2 demo disc games. Very much a plug'n'play game, launches in a second, no bugs, no tutorials needed, no awkward 3rd party applications in order to use a xbox or PS4 controller, just launch and play.
Very easy to fall into a trance with the trippy music, restarting is instant and the controls are completely responsive.
One thing I might like to see in the future is a hardcore mode where any collision ends in a instant game over.
I have exclusively played the single player mode so far and still enjoying it, particularly fun to play while listening to an audiobook!
Frustrating enough to come back and play again. Great music and controller support appreciated. A nice little timewaster.
A classy game with lots of.. snakes if you want.
Highly recommended successor to Flying Snake on the OpenPandora, would buy again and again except I have no people to play it with locally..
The Dark Souls of snake games.
This is very awesome stuff and works on both my low-ish powered Surface Pro 3 and desktop.
High score of 1208 here. Someone please beat it so I have something to look forward to!
I think almost everyone has played at least one version of the old school retro "snake" game. These snakes games have been around for 40 years just about, and now have been found on almost every electronic device out there. I wouldn't be surprised if calculators started offering classic snake games someday soon, hehe.
My "First Play on Launch Day!" First Impressions Review Video:
https://youtu.be/QkwwS8jiCZA
In "Mrs Snake", classic Snake has went 3D and offers local multiplayer support for up to 8 players (as long as you have 6 controllers plugged in and 2 people use your keyboard). The game runs well and 4 way controls as you'd expect of a snake game gone 3D.
I had a few minor gripes and suggestions to the developers I spoke about in the above video, but for the most part, this is the best 3D retro style snake game I've played yet and scored an impressive 86% score, mostly helped by a great value with the low price tag.
Highly recommended, unless you just don't like games as classic as they get. An impressive first game on Steam to the developers!
