A little better than the first game. I liked the music, visuals and general atmosphere a lot, and this protagonist was more compelling to me than Rosa (who I am sure I will grow to like more in future games). I do have a bone to pick with achievements that do nothing but waste the player's time (really? smoke 100 cigs?) but on the whole I like the direction the series is moving in.
It is shorter than the first game, but my god this feels like even more of a realized story and a really solid prequel. Like, just like the first game the locations are minimal, but the vibes it gives from its art is just....vibes man, you know what i mean. Once you play it, you'll catch them vibes too.
Not gonna, i could've done with a separate trilogy of Lauren Blackwell cases herself, because she is such a fascinating character. And I mean....Rosa is good and all, but a big booby chainsmoker 70s private investigator girlfriend is something we all desire for man.
But yeah, amazing game, no doubt about it.
The shortest Blackwell game by far, but that doesn't mean it's worse than the others. I really like the puzzles in this game. They're not the hardest in the series, but they tie into the plot really well. The game also features some stellar voice acting, and it sets up the story for the rest of the series. You could almost argue that Blackwell Legacy is a standalone prologue to the series, and that Blackwell Unbound is the real start of the Blackwell story. Obviously it's still recommended to play Legacy first as it introduces the two main characters and the basic gist of the gameplay going forward, but the real story starts in this game. Overall, I like it better than Legacy, but not as much as the last 3 games in the series.
And my lord, THE MUSIC! Really, really good stuff. The soundtrack in this series overall is great, but I think this game has my favorite uses of music.
I'm just going to write the same review for all the Blackwell games....Please PLEASE play this whole series you will not regret it. I legitimately cannot pick a favorite I love these games and ghosts.
Pretty fun, just as good as the previous entry in the series. Once again, the voice acting was mixed but the gameplay and writing were fantastic. I especially loved the music, which is just as well since there's a focus on music in the story.
Bleeding Gums Murphy gets ended by Crazy Cat Lady, you dig? Luann Van Houten meets the same fate. Can you resist urge to call Moe's Tavern to stop Hans Moleman from writing out another Springfield citizen?
I was binge watching a lot of Disney+ whilst playing this game.
Blackwell Unbound plays the New York of 1973. Lauren Blackwell and her spiritual advisor/bane do, what they do best by solving the cases of spirits that do not know that they have died and therefore do not move on… Great classic point-and-click adventure game, all dialogues are spoken, the atmosphere is great and the puzzles all in all (with a few exceptions) logical. I can highly recommend this game; it is a little but short but still very entertaining – although it would be best to play it together with the other parts.
This is a fun game. I recommend players start out with Blackwell Legacy, so that they aren't confused by the beginning.
Not particularly long, but the cases require some amount of thought. The story is what you would expect after the first game; you help ghosts to move on and investigate their deaths. It's not too hard to follow.
My biggest beefs were with the quality of voice acting and one of the achievements. While the actors themselves were not the issue, the equipment that was used sounded very basic. There were no pop filters, which triggered my misophonia (I'm a little crazy, sorry) because I kept hearing breaths against the microphone, tongue movement, etc. during some of the lines. One of the achievements requires players to smoke 100 cigarettes or more, which would be fine, except lit cigarettes would constantly bug my inventory. My character would clearly toss the butt away, but the cursed thing would remain in my inventory, preventing all attempts to light a new one. Had to resort to letting the game run idle for an hour. Pain in the "butt", pun intended.
Anyway, this is still a good game. If you've liked the first game, Legacy, you'll like this.
Recommended.
Bought this only for the smoge emote initially, now i'm definitely going to finish the entire Blackwell series and other games of the dev.

Im sad to say that this game absolutely killed the franchise for me! The first one was a struggle but this one is like a trip to the toilet! Evertything in this game is such a bore!
