One Bit Arena is a lazy Gameboy like Russian 2D top down retro pixel wave survival shooter with one single gimmick, you have a "Frisbee(tm)" instead of a gun, and you have to make sure it returns to you or you can't fight. Waves of blobs attack you, etc etc, there's a million top down shooters on Steam, all better than this Russian shovelware.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result.
There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics.
The game only displays in 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio. It's possible they developed this using an old CRT they found in a dumpster, or this game has been specifically designed for people gaming on PC's from 1995... either way, this isn't really acceptable in the modern era of PC gaming.
The implementation here is of such poor quality, the developer couldn't work out how to make the game display in fullscreen, it only runs in a window.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 9 players. That's right, only 9. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in the game is to be expected. Gamers just didn't take this low quality game seriously, and for good reason.

This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product.
One Bit Arena has the almost scam-like price of around $4 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer. Remember that if you buy a game from an unethical developer, you're putting your money at risk.

This was always my favourite way to waste time back in highschool, so suffice to say I was a little disappointed when Flash Player suddenly disappeared, and this game along with it. Hope was restored when the game first appeared on Steam, only for me to find that it wasn’t available in Australia. Then one day, a price tag suddenly appeared on my wishlist, and while I think it’s a bit steep for what this game is, I’m glad to have it back in my library for good.
I have to say, though, there are a few things which I’m quite disappointed by. For starters, there aren’t really any resolution options. You can choose between fullscreen and windowed, but all fullscreen does is stretch out the image to your monitor’s resolution without locking the aspect ratio. Then once you’ve done that, you see that everything’s raster-based rather than vector-based; I.e. the graphics are low-quality. You can kind of avoid this issue using third-party programs such as Borderless Gaming, however the entire game will stay in the upper-left corner of the screen, simply placing a beige mesh over the other half to match the background.
Another issue occurs when you finish a run. Upon death, you’re prompted to enter your username or ‘press Escape to quit’, but for whatever reason, pressing escape does nothing.
I also skipped the tutorial by accident and wasn’t able to play it again. The game’s simple enough to figure out on your own, but given that the tutorial exists, having the option to view it again would be nice.
Those issues aside, it’s still a solid way to waste time. Nothing more, nothing less. Definitely wait for a discount, though. Frisbee ftw.

love it
Reminds me of gaming on the old monochrome Texas Instrument graphing calculators and it's a competent arena shooter as well. The game has plenty of enemies and bosses to fight as you strive to survive as long as you can chasing the almighty high score.
This is not going to be easy, but you knew what you signed up for when you bought this game on sale because you always read the descriptions, see the screenshots and check reviews like this one.
Not a whole lot to say about it, other than it's a fun little distraction if you need to kill some time.

This game is simple enough but I'm getting frustrated with two main points. First, it is really difficult to re-start the game quickly. If I don't have a high score, the game should give me a way to restart as fast as possible. I hate having to enter my name or go through the menus each time. The second complaint is that I would like the tutorial to be available on the menu. I accidentally skipped it when I was setting up my Steam Controller, and I don't know what the finer points of the game are, nor do I understand the scoring, etc because of this.
A fun little game to fill the time. I've been looking for a game that I can jump in and out of and this is pretty fun. Particularly like the weapon system which doubles as a difficulty setting.
This game can not boast of cool graphics. But is perfect for killing time. Overall happy with the purchase.
