An amazing short game about a woman with amnesia who's badly hurt and has to escape in a set amount of time.

the game has so much heart and soul, it makes me wish there was more or a sequel or an ending that let's Alice live.

i would love to see more from this dev because this game is a 10/10!

Great short game with a twisted plot. Slow paced walking can make it drag a little but it adds to the atmosphere. 9/10 Would escape again.

This game is a timed game, you have to complete various tasks, explore places repeatedly, but you gotta be on the go so you dont run out of time. Not to tricky puzzle wise, multiple endings, and some unexpected twists. I personally enjoyed this game but there is no save points and that timer does not stop. May require multiple playthroughs to get everything or see all endings.

This is a pretty solid rpgmaker horror game. It's fairly simple when it comes down to it but despite is small scope it executes all the necessary puzzles and plot point well. The games not revolutionary but it is solid in its simplicity.

Enjoyed this quite abit. ALOT more story and depth to the game than I expected and the puzzles were pretty clever, with a few parts definitely giving me chills.

Loading into Captive and seeing a title screen saying escape or give up was an unique way for the standard start menu. With an eerie look at the player character, this made me interested to find what was in store.

The game does well by leaving the main plot details open for interpretation, while laying down details for the game at the same time. It allows for a discussion to form around the ideas behind the game.

The main downside the game had for me was the flashing words on screen that appeared very quickly, half the time it was very difficult to read, if it was readable at all, missing any associated lore with the text.

Overall, the ideas and puzzles behind the game were solid and I enjoyed the game. I would recommend this game to anyone enjoys escape style games. I think this would be a fun game to speed run since it has the built in pressure of the clock. If you have a controller it plays smoother (for me) in that regards, it sets a good atmosphere and the music helps support the mood as well.

An interesting little game. If you aren't concerned with multiple endings or achievements, then you can beat it in about 20 minutes. The puzzles aren't super hard, but they still make you think. It doesn't seem like there's a lot of plot, but once you get to the end you see how things fall into place

This a good game, But they should've explained the plot a bit more and it would been a more good experience.
I recommend this game on full price or sale whatever that suits you.

Fun little pixel horror adventure game with a creepy atmosphere. Definitely worth the money paid!

I have to say that I'm not super into these sort of obtuse puzzle games, the ones where you have to try everything with everything to figure out what the game wants. It's even worse when some options kill you (with no save feature to boot), so normally I'd just write a game with features like that off as bad and move on. But, if nothing else, this game has a fair bit of effort put into it, it's not too long, and there are multiple solutions. This makes that parts I'm not into less unpleasant, though I still need to make note of them.

The plot isn't anything special, when you're told that you have amnesia and are in a dangerous location, most players will know the twist already. But, since the dialog is sparse, it doesn't get on my nerves too much, sometimes cliches are fun.

Speaking of the writing, it's nothing special, and not capitalizing "I" really bugs me, but that's just a nitpick.

Overall, I'd give it a 6/10, give it a look if you're into escape room-esque puzzle games.

I really enjoyed it, the story and puzzles hit that sweet spot for rpgmaker horror for me.
I've seen a few people complain about how slow the character moves but it's established at the very beginning that she's injured, and i think it adds to the atmosphere of everything.

A Short Stroll into a Dungeon of Madness

First and foremost, I want to say that this game is dark! And I mean D A R K !!! I strongly recommend anyone with a weak stomach to be wary of playing this game.

You wake up in a locked cell, leg broken, head fuzzy and covered in blood. You can't remember anything. All you know is you need to get out of here... and fast. You're bleeding badly, so if you don't move fast enough, you will bleed out and die in this place, wherever it is.

This game does a great job of portraying a dark and dank dungeon, even though it uses fairly low res graphics. The sounds and music also give a sense of tension, dread, and despair. Your character moves exceptionally slowly, which helps add to the tension of the timer, and "sprinting" only increases your speed slightly. As you move through each area, blood is seen everywhere, with a few body parts to add a bit of "charm". Each room tells its own little story, helping build the larger scene that is at play. A small detail that some people may not pick up on is the grainy overlay that is seen throughout the game, EXCEPT in some key areas. This overlay looks like you are watching everything on an old CRTV as a live feed or recording, strongly implying everything is being recorded through cameras throughout the dungeon. Overall, the story and atmosphere of this game are fantastic.

In terms of the technical stuff, I think this game is very well put together. The game isn't your typical "jump scare fest" that a lot of RPG horror games throw at you. There are maybe one or two throughout the game, but they are built up to incredibly slowly, and even after playing it a few times, I still get caught off guard when they happen. There aren't a lot of scares overall in this game. Just a not-so-subtle sense of unease as you play.

The controls are simple enough but can feel clunky at times. There are several places that if you mash too quickly, you will perform a useless action, causing you to mash to get through the same text again, risking the same useless action, and so on. Not a big deal, but it can be frustrating at times. The same thing goes for the movement speeds. There is no save mechanic, which makes playing through the game several times to get all of the endings a bit tedious, so if you want to see the full story, you will be repeating many of the same actions over and over again just to get the one point where things deviate. This does add a bit to the experience, but when you get to your 4th or 5th play through, it's more annoying than anything.

Don't get me wrong, this game is fantastic. I highly recommend playing this game as blind as possible the first few times in order to get a good sense of the dread. It took me a couple of attempts to figure out some of the finer points and get to the most basic "real" ending. For those that want the full experience, and to get all of the achievements, there is an excellent guide available in the community page.

Normally, I only buy games that have a pretty deep discount, but I recommend getting this one, even at full price! It is absolutely worth every penny! There is apparently a sequel in the works, and I can't wait to see where this game goes next!

Captive is a nice blend of an RPG maker game and an escape the room flash game. Don't come to this game anticipating good scares, or any at all, it does; however, have a great setting as passion is realized through every screen. Give Captive a chance if you like mysterious exploration games and moderate puzzles.

The horror. Probably the most suspenseful gaming experience of my life. The general atmosphere - the lighting, the ambient sound effects, and brightly contrasted aesthetic obscurity sucks you into it. Worth buying. Incredible value for money in this unique and profound indie game.

Captive is a chilling game. I was unsure of what to do the moment I saw the timer start counting down. I knew though I had to get the character out and fast. Which each corridor and room containing part of this weird and terrifying mystery, more and more tension built to whether or not she was going to bleed out. There was shocking scenes in graphic detail, which made for a really brutal and bitter story that keeps the focus right on saving your character. Nothing should be overlooked, anything could be a clue or a weapon or something to take the pain away. Maybe that thing moving toward me at the end of the hall. Wait.
Brief energy, dwindling time, and horrifying hallucinations make Captive an awesome horror game for your collection. Get it and get yourself out.

For a game that's less than $3 it's really good! Surprisingly so, It gave me a few jumps here and there and a lot of cringe. Partially because of the blood/gore and mostly from awkward bugs that haven't been fixed.
The twist ending was really unexpected and I loved that the most!!

Positives:
* Achievements are relatively easy.
* Debatably short countdown/timer as to escaping.
Unless you're going for the Bleeding Death achievement.
*Amazing developers!!!!

Negatives:
* Still has glitches and bugs.
You can have a Bad Trip.
Drugs are bad m'kay...
* No save/load game options... If you die you have to start all over. Not a big deal because game is short but to some people that's a deal breaker.

Very nice little game! It's short (could be completed within 30 minutes) but for the price it's a good horror experience. The puzzles are well-made, and the amosphere is delightfully creepy. The plot is very sparse and forgettable, but it doesn't get in the way and it frames the little escape scenario well, so no complaints here. It has a bit of replayability if you want to get the achievements. The game is a bit tedious to replay once you know what to do, though, since you walk super slowly.

Overall, it's not flawless, but it kept me entertained for an hour or so.

Captive is an okay but short RPG maker horror game, now for the story.

You play as a mysterious young woman who wakes up in a cell with a bad leg, she has no memory of where she is how she got here, all knows she must escape.

So despite this game being sort it’s got some good atmosphere, a simple but nice mystery.

Now there are some problems with the game, one is it’s to sort you can beat it in 95 minutes lass if you are not going after the achievements.

And two the game is a good bit Lagy at times, and lastly the game price is a bit high for such a sort game.

(Edit it looks like the lag has been fixed.)

But despite this game being so sort it’s still okay for rpg maker horror and I would like to see a remake of this game someday I think with some help and time and money this game could be on par with other great rpg horror given time.

Captive is a game about waking up in a locked cell with no memories of what has happened, and it's your mission to escape in thirty minutes. Why thirty? Because you are bleeding out, and only have that much time left. And with that time limit, the game is literally only a half hour, so it is short.

PROS:
It has fairly mind-boggling puzzles, and creepy atmosphere, with music to help set the mood, and a curious ending.
It is fun to play, the mystery of what has happened to the main player keeps you driven on finishing the game, while also trying to beat the clock. It's got a good story-line as well, and had me pretty shocked at times.

CONS:
LAG. When entering certain floors, or exiting the menu, the entire game lags horribly, and it makes even choosing responses a pain. After entering a different room, it fixes the issue, but it's still hard to play when you're trying to be a time limit.
Spelling Errors. Nothing game breaking, but it does pull you out of the atmosphere a tad when you notice the spelling mistakes.
Unneeded Text Popups. After succesfully entering a room, the same text box describing how you entered shows up. Every. Single. Time. Like before, it's nothing game breaking, but again, frustrating when given a minimal amount of time, and having to use extra key strokes for something that is really not needed.

In conclusion, this is a fairly well made game, it just needs to be reviewed a few more times, and tweaked a bit. I would recommend, but only on sale. My reasoning being as it IS such a short game, and aside from a handful of achievements, it has no replay value. For a new company, this is a great start! Keep up the hard work, and make more games! I like where this company is going! :D

This is a great indie horror game. I really enjoyed the gameplay story and idea. If you like indie RPG games with a horror vide i'd recommend it. At the time I am writing this there was some technical issues but they should be fixed soon!
