I really wanted to like this game, and it has potential. It looks awesome but the controls were weird and my Pause screen didn't work. No tutorial makes it annoying to try figuring out how the game work. It was a bit clucky to jump to the different places, especially in the coloured world, and if you die in the black and white world, you have to figure out how to get up to the portal from where you start which is dreadful. I might try it a bit more in short periods of time, so I don't rage quit, but I'm not surprised if I don't open it again either.
If someone has the same problem as me and can't get the controls they are
wasd to move, spacebar to jump, shift to run, q & e to get blocks up and down, z for map and x to toggle. in map you can use the arrows to move around
It has some potential, but it's absolutely raw and undercooked. I only bought it at discount price and couldn't even bring myself up to keep it.
I like no hand-holding, when it comes to figuring out the rules of the game world - it's just unfortunate that both the game world and gameplay mechanics lack any sort of variety (as the other user correctly pointed out - this game is a blatant tech demo), as the levels progress.
In each level you do the same thing. The world consists of two stances - one is static another is dynamic (need to enter it through a card-portal), in which you can shift the height of platforms to traverse the simplistic landscape to your goal. Reach a mcguffin and kill another mcguffin with it (use a scope).
Expect for the mouse clicks to not work in main menu (use keyboard + Enter).
Default kb controls are:
WASD - movement;
Shift - run;
Z - overworld map (shows your goals);
Q,E - shifting the platforms height up and down;
X - scope (for when you obtain the mcguffin bullet).
Try it out at your own risk (recommended to wait for a discount, because it's hardly worth one full dollar at this stage of development)
maybe its something for you, but i didnt like it at all and uninstalled after the first level. it just feels cheap and unpolished. no story, no instruction and got boring fast. maybe i gave up too fast and after all its awesome, but i dont want to find out
I like this concept of this game, but I'm really frustrated. On game start you're immediately thrown into the first level with no instruction. After figuring out the controls (controller works far better than WASD / Run shift / Space Bar jump + mouse, as many of the jumps require running, and the default is set to walk speed with no auto-run available), I tried to complete the first maze. I assume I have to find a portal like the one I entered to get there, but...there's no portal visible, and only one upward vertical jump available; every other option (including after the first vertical leap) sends you down. Fine, I'll go down. After trying multiple directions, and dying multiple times from missing jumps, I have yet even to SEE another portal, and the moving pillars shown in the videos are not moving; everything is static, so there's no waiting for another path or a view of the portal to reveal itself.
The first level(s) should be easy, with short paths to reach easily visible portals while teaching mechanics and giving the player a chance to become accustomed to the controls. Falling should not end the game at this learning stage; it should just force you to retrace your steps to get back to the jump whose timing / speed you are learning. I gave up after at least 10 forced game restarts.
I also strongly suggest that "Run" speed be the default, and the Shift / Left Trigger key instead be used to move at walk speed -- or make this an option in the configuration menu.
From what i've seen so far, this game is pretty weird and amazing at the same time,
The first 15 minutes I had to figure out what the heck I was doing, but after playing for a while and getting to know the controls, the game started becomming fun. You start to encounter weird faces in the maze, which you have to shoot down. I do not know what the faces are / do. Guess I will find out.
